Coyled For Action

Looking up Diane Coyle’s Wikipedia entry and this is what came up today:

Diane Coyle, OBE (born February 1961), is a freelance economist and a former advisor to the UK Treasury. She is a member of the UK Competition Commission and is acting Chairman of the BBC Trust, the governing body of the British Broadcasting Corporation.

Thought that was odd…‘acting chairman’…since when?

The answer…someone didn’t waste any time updating the entry:

Lord Patten’s plea to save the BBC as he steps down

Outgoing BBC Trust chairman praises the corporation as a ‘precious and wonderful thing’, but fears it lacks backing of the main political parties

Lord Patten’s term in office had been due to end in April next year but he explained he experienced “serious chest pains” on April 27 and went into hospital. Diane Coyle, the vice-chairman of the BBC Trust, has taken over in an interim capacity while a successor is found.

Patten says:

In a letter to Sajid Javid, the Culture Secretary, Lord Patten said: “The BBC is a huge national asset which is part of the everyday fabric of our lives. It is not perfect — what institution is? It always needs to challenge itself to improve. But it is a precious and wonderful thing, a hugely positive influence which benefits greatly from the creativity and dedication of its staff.

“I have no reason to doubt that the leaders of all main political parties support the role it plays at the centre of our public realm. Most important of all, the British public enormously value the strength of its output, its independence and the contribution it makes to the quality of our lives.”

He will be sadly missed by all…I’m sure.

I am sure that one of the PR minions somewhere at the BBC will have been charged with updating Mrs Celyn Jones profile as there are so many in the BBC paid for by our license fee. But it was her politics as demonstrated Tuesday morning on Radio 4 which seemed so far to the Left and with the hopes of reconfiguring Society to give greater Power to the Poor that really concern me. I would provide a link but using a tablet to post I am damned if I know how to jump screens and provide a link; but it was Radio 4 around 9.30 in the morning.

I’m sure you’re sure. But I’m just as sure that’s more to do with Biased BBC commenters’ inane paranoia rather than anything fact-based.

It’s easy enough to view Wikipedia article histories, and see who made edits and where from. But maybe that’s too fact-based and would nullify your conspiracy theory?

Scot, if the BBC provides PR staff for the contestants of Strictly (remember reading about them re Susannah at the time but have neither the time nor the inclination to search for the reference) I am sure there will be PR staff for the use of the Trust. How they operate using tax payers’ money is beyond me.

Oh wow, the BBC employs PR people for its TV shows so it MUST be behind every Wikipedia change.

The quality of conspiracy theory bollocks on here is really going downhill of late. Your reasoning is in serious danger of making Alan’s babbling seem intellectually coherent. Well done, that’s a really hard feat.

Thats desperate Scott no one said that and you know it
You took issue with Deborah’s throw away comment on the basis that any suggestiont that the BBC would do such a thing was unthinkable
But the fact is the BBC have been caught red handed on more than one occasion ,altering their wiki profile, covertly re-writting news content, making up their own bogus compliants and having employees pose as members of the public.
Is there any deception that the BBC would undertake that you would not defend?

And Biased BBC commenters have been caught on numerous occasions concocting ludicrous conspiracy theories, the only basis for which is “I think it happened, therefore it must have done”. And then someone else equally as asinine comes along and defends that stance.

              And here you are.

Of what? A Wikipedia entry got edited – reflecting someone’s change in title. Deborah insisted this must have been by someone in the BBC, because Strictly.

It is not conspiracy theory it is a conspiracy fact.

Here we go – Biased BBCers thinking that “because I said it, it must be true”. There is no fact here, just a couple of idiots deciding that something is the case with nothing but their own prejudices to back them up.

like all liberal inquisition foot soldiers you believe in free speech as long as people say what you what to hear

I pointed out to you (politely) that there was plenty of cause to think the BBC was cable of such an act.

No Scot, I still think that once it was agreed that Diane Coyle would take over the DG role, out would come a press release from the Trust and a minion would be instructed to update Miss Coyle’w wiki page just like someone would be told to order new headed paper. Nothing subversive, just the sort of thing PAs do. Except the BBC is so heavily manned at our expense there is always someone to do the task.

It did happen, the BBC did waist about half a million pounds of licence payers money, failing to hide the identities of the inferior environmental ignoramuses used as “the best scientific experts” to fob off scientists who complained to the BBC.

We are just waiting to see the results of the investigations, which I was told, will be revealed to arts expert Lord Hall in due course.

A BBC cesspit of left-wing politics and environmental religious activism dominated by arts and humanities morons who have pushed out any freedom of thought for scientists, on the BBC, by censoring the science, scientists and scientific debate.

In the same that Labour ensured soft control of the Beeb by appointing someone who, while nominally a Tory, is as pro-European and economically wet as possible, Cameron should take a similar tack and appoint a nominally-Labour ex-minister who’s fond of markets, pro small government and in favour of restructuring pensions and the NHS. Frank Field leaps to mind, he’s almost as unpopular with Leftie backbenchers as Patten was with the Shire Tories.

The BBC was last night at the centre of a row over political bias after it was revealed that the vice-chair of its governing trust is advising the Labour Party

    30 October 2011

Phil Harrold, BBC Trust Head of Governance, which advises trust members on all matters relating to their jobs, told Mr Kroll: ‘This could potentially be a significant partisan political activity.’

A BBC Trust spokesman said: ‘There is a clear, published code of practice in place which applies to all trustees.’

But obviously only applies to trustees not associated with Labour.

I well remember his “appearance” before MPs in 2010/11?

I guess the private hospitals fatty Pang blocked WERE able to find out Pattens toilet habits…for that was his sneering objection to being asked how his tax-funded squat at the BBC was being logged.
