Something Fishy About Salmond

Funny old world when a man who expressed so much contempt for the Westminster ‘gang’ as he calls them, now seeks to rejoin as an MP despite, apparently, the fact that the “writing is on the wall for Westminster”.….what’s more curious is that the BBC don’t seem to notice this hypocrisy in their grand analysis…nor do they notice that when the Slippery Salmond says:

“We won’t have any deal with the Tories – they are not trusted by the people of Scotland” he said.

…the truth is the Tories are just as ‘trusted’ as the SNP…..

At the 2010 General Election, the SNP polled 19.9 per cent and won 491,386 votes, while the Conservative Party polled 16.7 per cent and won 412,855 votes. Yet it is the SNP that has been allowed to set the agenda in Scotland, and to call the shots on the possible future of the Union, while the Conservatives have been painted as pariahs, and deemed about as welcome in Scotland as a nationwide dose of the clap.

But then the BBC has always had a soft spot for anyone who wants to destroy the United Kingdom…be it Communists, Muslim fundamentalists, Brussels Bureaucrats or the SNP.

Yes, it’s “odd” how it has been the blazing headline and leading story all day. The BBC seem extremely excited about it.

I’m no lover of Westminster but it’s actually concerning times because despite the result of the Scottish Referendum in November the “foaming at the mouth Nats” and SNP are just not giving up.

They’ve now launched a weekly “newspaper” called, wait for it, “The National”!.

The title has a logo map of Scotland in the headline but the very first edition managed an incredible faux pas when Shetland wasn’t in the map.

Historically, that’s actually correct but for the sake of argument that’s the same Shetland which has some of the world’s biggest oil and gas fields in it’s seas and which Scotland thinks it owns.

Nevertheless, as many have pointed out the ommission of Shetland from the first publication confirms what Shetland thinks about Scotland and the damage is done…..

Salmond and Sturgeon may be full of themselves, but a few friends north of the Border are deeply angered that the SNP have not taken ‘no’ for an answer and are pressing on, destabilising and creating uncertainty.

The Nats might be luxuriating in their 100,000 members, the silent majority though might take a different view (have the BBC vox popped these?). The prospect of a neverendum may be Salmond’s undoing

It looks pretty important to me given the way the polls are headed. Whoever ends up being the largest party might need these clowns come May.

Okay…point 1; Shetland,is, part of Scotland(yes, it was part of the earldom of Orkney and under Norse rule for a few centuries, but prior to that, Scottish.
Point 2; At the 2010 general election, Tories did indeed get more votes than the SNP in the UK, but who the hell are the tories to dictate whats right for the Scottish people? What an ignorant, unintelligent remark!
Point 3; Silent majority? My a***. there was NO way Cameron would ever relinquish control over the Scots. Scaremongering and threats to the senior citizens are but two of the dirty tactics employed by the Conservatives. Not to mention the rigging that went on, especially in the rural towns.
Point 4; Scotland puts in more than it receives. Where on earth do you get such factually incorrect twaddle?
Point 5; Independence is inevitable. Westminster is a corrupt old-boys club, having salmond there will be perfect to highlight the failings.
Point 6; This thread appears to be attracting a form of anti-Scottish bias that fans the flames of separatism. I suggest reading more and undertaking a wee bit more research before spouting such ill-informed drivel.

The Earldom of Orkney, which included not only Orkney, Shetland but also much of what is now the Far North of Scotland was, prior to becoming that Earldom actually Pictish because the Scots Tribe, who were Irish in origin, had not succeeded in subjugating the whole of Scotland other than for a few West Coast islands and a few parts of the West Coast mainland. The Scots were, in fact, just as much foreign invaders as the Norsemen and the Angles and Saxons. It was only in 1471 that the Earldom of Orkney finally became part of what is now Scotland. Even now the people of Orkney and Shetland have more Norse blood running through their veins than they have Scots blood.
