Hype Not Debate

Hope Not Hate has been caught out telling lies about hate crimes…and of course the BBC has been suckered into peddling their lies…because they have a need to believe so journalism and asking a few questions about the supposed data gets kicked into the long grass…but not at The Economist.

A supposed outpouring of online hatred against Jo Cox, a murdered MP, was exaggerated

HOPE NOT HATE, a charity that combats extremism, published a report on November 28th purportedly revealing a mass outbreak of online hate-speech after the murder of Jo Cox, a Labour MP, a week before the Brexit referendum in June. In the month after the killing at least 25,000 people sent more than 50,000 tweets celebrating her death or praising her murderer, Thomas Mair, Hope Not Hate said.

Britain’s largest newspapers leapt to publish the shocking findings. The story was shared far and wide. Angela Eagle, a Labour MP, cast its conclusions as “staggering and appalling”. The news struck as Britain was coming to terms with an increase in hate crimes.

Yet the story was wrong.

An investigation by The Economist has found that Hope Not Hate misrepresented the findings of its own report when first releasing it to the press. The report itself gave a confusing impression of the number of tweets that celebrated Ms Cox’s murder. We estimate that, in reality, of hundreds of thousands of tweets mentioning the MP by name, the number that celebrated her death was at most 1,500, and probably much lower.

The authors write that Twitter “acts as an echo chamber, where hateful comments are reinforced and can impact upon wider community cohesion.” Here they are right—which is why it is important to debunk claims which are not properly supported, including their own. That a single person would celebrate an MP’s murder is terrible.

Yet the public was led to think that such a reaction was widespread online. We do not believe that it was.

The Public was misled about online ‘hate crimes’?  Not just the public of course as politicians jumped on the bandwagon, some all too ready to use this as an excuse to try and smear Brexit and anyone who spoke about immigration as racists and islamophobes.   They should really watch the BBC’s ‘Muslims Like Us’ and then come and have a chat about racism and religiously inspired hate.  It really didn’t turn out the way the BBC would have hoped…except for the loveable, if not somewhat naive [perhaps for the Telly] non-Muslims who rather showed up the Muslims.

And of note is that the BBC’s Emma Barnett had a lovely warm and sympathetic conversation the other week with the mother of  Michael Sandford, you know, the bloke who tried to kill Trump.  The first words that came out of Barnett’s mouth was that he was autistic and had mental health issues….not a word about Thomas Mair’s well known mental health problems though.  Guess trying to kill the ‘monster’ that is Trump is OK really, killing a pro-immigration left-wing MP who espouses all the same values that the BBC does is definitely not OK in the same way.  Always some excuse for those who murder or try to murder others whose values don’t get the BBC stamp of approval.

Research and Preparation

Just listening to Chiles interviewing a survivor from a ship that sunk when he was 3 years old.

Chiles wants to know if he now has any hangups about water, any fear of water.

The answer?  ‘No, I’m a scuba diver now’.

Quality research and prep by the BBC.

Chiles more than adequately fills Peter Allen’s boots as he goes through life with the same child-like wonder as the world reveals so many new and amazing delights each day.

Blind Fury

I wish I was an academic pyschologist or some such….boy the books you could write just now as the Left goes into melt-down.  A study of the post Brexit, post-Trump fevered ravings would occupy you for a lifetime.

Nicola Sturgeon is like a wild-eyed Hitler trapped in his Bunker in the last days, her ever more desperate attempts to cobble together a sly mechanism to achieve Independence by whatever devious and underhand method possible look to anyone on the outside as a madness that has only the slightest connection with reality.  Anyone on the outside other than those at the BBC who take her every utterance as rational, sound and achievable common sense.  Look at their report on her latest absurd folly as she essentially calls for May to give Scotland Independence in order for Scotland to stay in the EU.  How the Today presenter reporting this tosh kept a straight face and didn’t burst out laughing is beyond me.  I stand in admiration at their professionalism, or was it lack of imagination?

It takes the Telegraph to bring you a dose of reality as cold-water is splashed upon the glowing eager faces speaking so confidently of Independence…

Nicola Sturgeon Brexit adviser pours cold water on her single market plans hours before they are unveiled

One of Nicola Sturgeon’s handpicked Brexit advisers has poured cold water on her proposals to keep Scotland in the EU single market even if the UK leaves, only hours before she unveils them on Tuesday morning.

Charles Grant, who sits on the First Minister’s Standing Council on Europe, said it was “extremely difficult” to see how her plans were legally, politically or technically feasible.

In an interview with the Telegraph, he said Scotland staying in the single market without the rest of the UK would require the complete devolution of business regulation and that “clearly isn’t going to be on the cards in the foreseeable future.”

He said proposals for Scotland to stay in the EU’s customs union, a more limited type of free trade area than the single market, without the rest of the UK would also mean customs checks at the border with England.

Among the other flaws he listed were Spain blocking any special deal and Theresa May being unwilling to sign up to a package of powers that would give Scotland “something like dominion status.”

Oddly the BBC fails to mention the comments of someone so very closely involved in Sturgeon’s plans.

The BBC, it goes without saying, would love to see the UK break up and the EU  take control of the regions…divide and rule.  It’s the oldest game in the book.

What else has got the Left frothing at the mouth?  Trump of course but what’s in the headlines right now?  A terrorist atatck in Germany by a Muslim ‘refugee’.  What’s important is not the attack but to quickly damp down any suggestion that this is linked to immigration or Islam and to pillory anyone who dares to suggest such things.

The BBC told us that the ‘anti-immigrant’ AFD ‘seized’ upon the deaths and were seeking to make political profit from it by ‘blaming’ Merkel….the BBC’s language very obviously designed to portray the AFD as a group that is beyond the pale, one that is exploiting this tragedy and trying to manufacture a false narrative about refugees.  The BBC wants you to think there is no connection to Merkel’s lone decision to allow in uncontrolled numbers of Muslim migrants and that to suggest such a thing is racist and irrational.

The Guardian naturally attacks not the killer but Nigel Farage…

Ukip’s former leader Nigel Farage is blowing his dog whistle again. He claimed “events like these will be the Merkel legacy”.

  Nigel Farage

@Nigel_Farage   Terrible news from Berlin but no surprise. Events like these will be the Merkel legacy.

Trouble is it is the Guardian that is ‘dogwhistling’ as it tries to set the hounds upon Farage for his perfectly sound and reasonable comments…let’s face it those people would still be alive if Merkel hadn’t opened the borders….backed loudly by the Guardian and the BBC.

Then again in the Guardian we have Toynbee calling for a Remainer’s revolution to overturn Brexit in a cheery Christmas message…

Our future is being stolen. Be brave and take it back

With Trump and Brexit looming, I can’t say that things will get better next year. But I do know that things will get worse if we don’t fight

She ends with this treacherous nonsense from the man who voted against Article 50, Ken Clarke…

Newspaper columns are supposed to end with solutions, but I’m running low on hope. Instead, I’ll leave you with the reported words of Tory grandee Ken Clarke and implore you to think of this in the months ahead. “Brexit headbangers have made politics nastier than ever, but they are frighteningly well organised,” he said. “If we are going to stop them we have to do the same and not be intimidated by their wall of hate.”

Er…what?  Brexiteers have made politics nastier than ever and a ‘wall of hate’?  No that’s the Left that has resorted to a mass campaign of vilification, abuse and intimidation towards Brexit voters and politicians…Clarke’s own words are a perfect example of the language, abuse and deceitful narratives being used by them.

Deus Vult

The BBC were quick to report some graffiti on a mosque but seem less keen to report the full words of the man who killed the Russian ambassador in Turkey. [Note the raised single finger…one God, one faith, one mosque]

The BBC version:

The camera pulls back to show a smartly dressed gunman, wearing a suit and tie, waving a pistol and shouting in Arabic and Turkish.

He can be heard yelling “Don’t forget about Aleppo, don’t forget about Syria” and uses the Arabic phrase “Allahu Akbar” (God is great).

The New York Times version:

The gunman, wearing a dark suit and tie, was seen in video footage of the assault waving a pistol and shouting in Arabic: “God is great! Those who pledged allegiance to Muhammad for jihad. God is great!”

Then he switched to Turkish and shouted: “Don’t forget Aleppo, don’t forget Syria! Step back! Step back! Only death can take me from here.”

Yet more BBC fake news

BBC Fake News kills Jews?

The BBC has been one of the prime providers of fake news about the Palestinian’s 70 year war against the Jews of Israel, this fake news creating a febrile atmosphere that generates massive hatred towards Israel, Israelis and Jews.  Jews die as a result of this across the world.  The BBC’s Tim Wilcox admitted as much when he suggested that Jews should expect to be attacked because of what Israel does to defend itself…thus in  one stroke he denounces Israeli actions as bad and then links Jews in Europe to those actions making them guilty of them by association..ie being Jewish.

Here’s one example of that fake news that sets the world against the Jews and makes it ‘OK’ to target them….

Remember Jenin back in 2002 when the BBC insisted there was a massacre of Palestinian civilians by Israeli troop,  such a massacre that the troops had to cover their faces to guard against the stench of death?

Israeli soldier encounters the smell of death

‘The smell of death pervades the Jenin refugee camp’

Turned out it wasn’t 3,000 civilians massacred, not even 500…in fact a grand total of 52 Palestinians were killed in the operation, nearly all of them terrorists.  The BBC still hinted there was a massacre even as the UN investigation drew its conclusions and announced there was no massacre…the BBC dismissed that as nothing to see here…

The BBC’s Greg Barrow at the UN says the report offers few conclusions and merely reports allegations that have already been made.

We were also told at the time of the battle by the BBC that…

Palestinian claims of an Israeli massacre in the camp have been denied, although British forensic expert Prof Derrick Pounder has said that the evidence points to large numbers of civilian dead.

Odd how other news organisations knew straight away that the Palestinians were lying….

By contrast on the very same days, American reporters in Jenin – unlike their British counterparts – reported accurately. Molly Moore of The Washington Post wrote there was “no evidence to support allegations by aid organizations of large-scale massacres or executions.” Newsday’s reporter in Jenin, Edward Gargan, wrote: “There is little evidence to suggest that Israeli troops conducted a massacre of the dimensions alleged by Palestinian officials.”

The Boston Globe correspondent reported that after extensive interviews with “civilians and fighters” in Jenin “none reported seeing large numbers of civilians killed.” On the other hand, referring to the deaths of Israeli soldiers in Jenin, Abdel Rahman Sa’adi, an “Islamic Jihad grenade-thrower,” told The Boston Globe “This was a massacre of the Jews, not of us.”

The BBC’s reporting was the subject of a complaint…

Our first such major issue in this Submission-I below is on the BBC News’ coverage of the Battle of Jenin in April 2002 and on until today, which spread many times the false ‘news’ and ‘data’ on the ‘Jenin massacre’ – that never was.  We submit this case now because the terrible damage and pain this libel caused has never been properly undone and the’massacre’ libel sticks on Israel until today, November 2005.

The facts of our complaint on the BBC News coverage of the Jenin Battle

The infamous case of Jenin started in March 2002. In this one single month 16 Palestinian terror bombings and other acts targeted and deliberately killed 102 Israeli civilians. For most of the killings Palestinian organizations sitting in Jenin proudly took responsibility.  In the next month, on 3d April the IDF – Israeli Defence Forces – entered the city of Jenin, as part of ‘Operation Defensive Shield’, to capture the perpetrators.

Since the first day of this operation the BBC radio and TV news and special reports “informed” the world on the “Israeli massacre” of the Palestinian civilian population of Jenin in at least half-hourly sensational reports. The BBC News and World Service gave the microphone to and quoted unchallenged the Palestinian Authority spokesman, Saeb Erekat and other Arab sources to talk on an ‘Israeli massacre’, starting with “data” of 3000 and switching later to 500 or 520 Palestinian civilian casualties. The BBC broadcasted very intensively the big story of the Israeli ‘massacre’ of Palestinian civilians, through reports, unchallenged quotations and  renewing reminders. False allegations of massacre and false data were actively repeated literally thousands of times (see data later), at least until 29.10.2002, their traces and repetitions by others are on the net until now, November 2005.

The BBC mentioned rarely and then downplayed or even ridiculed the dry official Israeli statements – which came of course somewhat late, because a democracy can not speak without fact-finding done before – on ’52 Palestinians dead; 5 women, one child and 46 adult males mostly wanted terrorists’.

By mid-April most major media organs, i.a. AP, CNN or the Washington Post, found out that the Palestinian statements on a massacre in Jenin were unfounded and therefore stopped the ‘massacre’ story.  Not so the BBC.

Not so the BBC…but oh so so the BBC.

More BBC Fake News

The BBC has spent months suggesting Bradley Wiggins could be a drugs cheat, Gary Richardson was at it again yesterday as he insinuated guilt. No doubt this dubious and baseless claim can be linked to the BBC’s continuous assault on Sky/Murdoch by any means possible such as via Leveson or attacks on the funding of the Premier League.

Now it turns out that the ‘secret’ package that was at the centre of these claims contained nothing more than a perfectly legal decongestant and that the reason the Sky team had not revealed the contents before was because UK Anti-doping (Ukad) had told them not to…however the BBC suddenly forgets that it has spent those months slyly insinuating Wiggins is a drugs cheat and blames it all on the Daily Mail…

Sir Bradley Wiggins won the event for Team Sky, who have since been under pressure to reveal the contents of the package after a Daily Mail allegation.

How different the BBC’s approach to reporting on the black Muslim Mo Farrah when his coach was investigated for drugs use…then the BBC repeatedly insisted at every chance that Farrah was, of course, entirely innocent of any connection to the investigation or accusations….despite having missed two drug tests in the past…

There is no suggestion Farah has broken any rules.

There is no suggestion the double Olympic champion is under investigation.

There is no suggestion made in the joint investigation by the BBC and US journalism website ProPublica that Farah has been involved in any doping.

Enabling Hitler

We have looked at this video of a talk by Milo Yiannopoulos a talk in which he slams the Left’s attempts to stifle free speech, one of their tactics is to ‘erode the difference between words and actions’.  They conflate, say, suggestions that immigration needs to be controlled with racist attacks on immigrants…as the BBC is so often guilty of doing [I heard this morning on the Today show that Nationalism is all about hating other countries…er…no it isn’t…but the BBC relentlessly drips such toxic claims into the debate continuously in order to demonise those who talk about immigration or who voted for Brexit]  This tactic is intended to then allow the Left to impose draconian sanctions upon anyone who talks about immigration…thus, they hope, shutting down that debate without actually engaging in it with their own arguments.

At the end of the video one of the audience gets up and denounces Milo as a ‘white supremacist’.  Once Milo has demonstrated quite easily that this is not the case the accuser then tries another tack and says if he isn’t a white supremacist then he ‘enables’ them.  This of course is the Left’s big narrative that it uses to try and shut down debate….that the Right’s debate about immigration causes racism and therefore is not acceptable…hence the Daily Mail gets its Lego deals withdrawn…never mind Denmark, Lego’s Fatherland, had introduced stricter immigration controls of its own recently….Denmark Passes Tough New Immigration Law.

Interestingly the BBC tries the same tactic of accusing Milo of being a white nationalist…on what basis I don’t know…they are talking about Islam at the time…but Islam is not a race….Milo crushes the BBC accuser [around 6 mins]…

The classic tactic of accusing anyone who talks of Islam or immigration of being racist or of the Far-Right.

The BBC is far more of a danger to us than any ”white supremacist’ as it undermines the West and supports the  Islamisation of Europe.

The New ‘Reality’ for the braindead

The most useful fact about the phrase ‘Post-fact world’ is that, as well as pointing out as fools and intellectual cowards those who use it as the new truth, it illustrates just how powerful the left-wing media is as it creates a whole new reality, a ‘false consciousness’ ironically, a fake reality that is fast catching on as the new reality talked of by those in ‘authority’ with an assured air that what they say is not complete bollocks…despite being just that. Andrew Marr this morning made such a statement declaring that we are in this post-fact age.   According to the new facts, and they’re not facts, again ironically, there are no facts, but there was a time when facts existed…a time before the Trump, before the Brexit.  In a land of make-believe.

Marr on ‘Start the Week’ showed himself up for what he really is, not an inquiring intellectual, not an honest journalist, not a man whose integrity is unsullied, but a man who follows the crowd, a sheep who doesn’t think for himself, who doesn’t dare stand up and say this is wrong.  Intellectually, morally and professionally corrupted.

How can Marr with all seriousness suggest we are now in a ‘post-fact’ era?  How can he possibly even contemplate saying such a thing as fact.  He says it becasue he knows he won’t be opposed and his colleagues and friends will all praise him for his thoughtfulness and insight and it suits his own left-wing political agenda.  All the guests on his show are from the same bubble, the same echo chamber.  They think the same, the talk to the same people, they all have the same mindset and the same world view.  They were never going to disagree, in fact they lapped it up and couldn’t have agreed more with the big unsaid motif…that those who voted for Trump or Brexit, or indeed the climate change ‘deniers’, were fools led astray by lies and their own heated, prejudiced, emotions.

Trouble is the programme was full of contradictions that undermined their own statements on such subjects as climate change….how  many times on the programme did we hear that science was never certain, that the science should always be challenged, that people are, apparently, irrational when it comes to making decisions on ‘facts’….and yet the science of climate change is settled…or so the BBC tells us.

The programme finished with what seemed like a scripted comment tacked onto the end about the BBC’s coverage of climate change….how terrible it was that the BBC would give the same time to climate change ‘deniers’ as to real scientists….they should have one ‘denier’ and 2,000 real scientists on to represnt the reality.  So science is not about the science but about the number of people you can get to say one thing?  Have they proved that CO2 is the main and real cause of global warming?  No.  It’s till a theory based upon lab experiments.  So much for facts, so much for science.

Alongside that we have the howl of rage at the rise of ‘Populism’…otherwise known as genuine democracy where the real people get to have their say and their voices heard for once.

‘Populism’ is why the ‘Elite’ don’t like referendums.  Referendums are single issue votes where the Elite cannot divide and rule as in normal elections where people vote on numerous issues and so can be split off into manageable groups by offering them vote winning promises that compromise their own convictions.  The voter may not support you on one thing but may on several others which they consider more important and so you get their vote, but in a single issue referendum  it is black and white, there are no concessions, no deals, no promises that can be made to leaven your manifesto and make it overall the most appealing despite having some unpopular aspects…the Elitist has to make his own choice and stand on one side or the other in a referendum.

Douglas Murray in the Mail a week or so ago slammed the BBC and its fellow travellers for using the word ‘Populism’ to sneer at and demonise those who voted for Brexit or Trump…

POPULISM: It’s the BBC’s new buzzword, being used to sneer at the ‘uneducated’ 17 million who voted for Brexit

There is a new buzz-word at the BBC. It’s been bandied about on countless programmes and dominates the pages of the Left-wing papers. The 17 million-plus Britons who voted to leave the EU are described as part of a ‘populist’ revolution.

When the American public voted for Donald Trump to be their next President, the BBC and other media likewise described it as a triumph of populism.

This week, after the Italian people voted a resounding ‘No’ in a referendum that led to the resignation of their pro‑EU Prime Minister Matteo Renzi — a result that has shaken Brussels to its foundations — liberal commentators called it a victory for populist parties.

Make no mistake, it is now being used as a sneering, pejorative term to describe the extraordinary social phenomenon sweeping both Europe and the U.S. as millions and millions of people express their anger at the ballot box over the indolence, corruption and complacency of their nation’s political elite.

To disregard the concerns of the public is a serious mistake for any politician. They may be able to ignore it for a time, but at some point the people will be heard. Using words like ‘populist’ to insult the public is just a desperate final attempt to put off the inevitable….. it is better to listen to our concerns rather than to insult us.
