I heard on Toady this morning that Thyssen Krupp are “merging” with Tata here in the UK who own the steel works at Port Talbot. Is that going to be (yet) another British business which the krauts are allowed to f**k up, after taking what they want from it, to reduce competition for their domestic companies from British ones?

The German government would not allow such a thing in their own country, so why should ours here? This is particularly so in the light of the UK escaping the eusylum.

I’m hoping that more legal minded readers of this forum can help. I see some members of Britain First have been charged with “religiously aggravated harassment” having never heard of this I was trying to find out what it actually is, with some hard examples, but drew a blank.

Britain First leaders charged with religious harassment
    http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-kent-41338328

A definition I got was “Under this Act, it is now an offence for a person to pursue a course of action which amounts to harassment of another individual, and that they know or ought to know amounts to harassment. Under this act the definition of harassment is behaviour which causes alarm or distress”

If the above is correct and I take it literally, if I say anything about someone’s religion which causes them “distress” (even if factually correct) am I committing a crime? Surely this can’t be the case, can it?

A few months ago BBC Trending tried to ambush Jayda Fransen, doing a political interview and then suddenly saying “so you were convicted in Nov 2016 of using religiously aggravated hate speech ”
To which Jayda replied words to effect ‘Yes I was, I believe the situation is so serious we have to do this kind of direct action protest…it is the law that is wrong’
..Which of kind of parallels anti with their justifications of being able to break the law cos they are fighting for a higher cause.

The new case, I know nothing about ..but sometime being charged with something is a long way from being convicted.
The BBC writeup implies their protest risk affecting the impartiality of a court case
.. but I note they were not charged with contempt of court.

Kent News has something saying it happened at the time of a “brutal gang rape”

        Thanks, StewGreen.

These are the three examples given to CPS lawyers to aid there decision making process. No bias there, then 😉

        Religiously aggravated cases:

        1. The defendant verbally abused an Asian taxi driver during a disagreement over the fare, making comments about Muslim terrorists. The defendant then attacked the window of the taxi and spat at the victim. He was charged with religiously aggravated intentional harassment, alarm or distress. He pleaded guilty at the first hearing and was sentenced to a 12 week suspended sentence uplifted from 8 weeks (South Yorkshire case).

        2. The defendant verbally abused a Muslim member of staff at the hotel he was staying at and made offensive comments about Islam. He pleaded guilty on the day of trial to religiously aggravated intentional harassment, alarm or distress and was sentenced to a 16 week community order 16 weeks and a curfew for 16 weeks, both uplifted from 12 weeks. He was also ordered to pay £200 costs and a £60 victim surcharge (West Yorkshire case).

        3. The defendant was sitting outside a supermarket when the victim, a Muslim woman, walked past. He shouted abusive comments to her about Islam and her headscarf. He pleaded guilty on the day of trial to religiously aggravated harassment, alarm or distress and was sentenced to a 2 year conditional discharge, uplifted from 1 year (North Yorkshire case).

So…. the CPS system has decided at the outset that muslims are victims. Sounds ‘racist’ to me.

You can see slowly how the penalties will rise till we get to the death penalty for ‘blasphemy’ but we’ll get lots of rationales and reasons along the way, “We have to accept this is the changing face of Britain” etc. God help us.

        Thanks Stew.
The examples you provide, seem different to the BF case. In the examples the harassment is directly directed at the individual victim, ie the victim was physically present. As far as I can tell, the BF case is a different situation, it looks like “harassment” by proxy ie distributing leaflets and video’s and not directed against one particular individual. It now looks as if this particular law is being used to attack free speech rather than protect individuals from abuse.

Looking at that Newspeak page (what is wrong with the word ‘increased’?) it is striking that there were other possible charges that should have applied by the CPS went for the ‘soft’ one. For example, the first religiously aggravated attack also included threatening behaviour, assault (possibly with the spitting) and followed by criminal damage.

The latter was an obvious and easy conviction to my mind in post-Rumpole mode (thank and bless you BBC Radio 4, for some decent Drama at last to listen to this week) with the evidence of the broken cab window.

Interesting and slightly suspicious why the CPS chose to pursue the ‘religious’ angle.

The syllogism one applies normally is that of the reasonable man: would a reasonable man on the Clapham omnibus find the actions distressing?

Of course judges can tailor the reasonableness test to fit the attributes of the complainant, and I would imagine that where expediency demands such as in this case they would set the bar very low.

Once again it is effectively a Sharia blasphemy law. I doubt a white Buddhist would be protected by the Act but I am sure there is a consensus that ROPers should have their feelings protected at all costs. It could be for the greater good as we are always only one word away from a riot. In such cases the judges would generally bow to political pressure, as we saw in the Newcastle case where the judge unreasonably ruled that there was no racist motivation for the crimes.

As times have moved on a bit since the days of the hypothetical ‘reasonable man’ on the Clapham omnibus, I guess that the judiciary have replaced it with the ‘unreasonable imam in the Clapham mosque’! No doubt he’d find almost every action of the infidel distressing.

By the by, whatever happened to our own Clapham Omnibus man of yore who used to ineffectually burble on this site, was he really Scott in disguise? And has Scott transmogrified (like Dr Who) into dear old Maxincony? I think we should be told.

Having declared we should take in more refugees, he decided against having any in his own home. He’s lucky he has the choice.

Now that’s a programme I would definitely watch: a reality tv programme where all these luvvies are forced to live by the rules they force upon us proles. Imagine Rowling having ten refugees living with her and her daughters for a year, or Owen Jones in a flat share in StPauls lecturing ultra violent and homophobic Yardies about microaggressions. Now that would be licence fee money well spent.

Brits take 20 years to make a tapestry (probably hideously white) about the colonisation of America, involving guest embroidery by the Royal Family….Native American association condemns it as racist stereotype. Designer is old, white British male, who has basically told them to sod off, as I would. Said association wants it to be removed from the Earth. Best bit is, they say that the Natives are depicted as ‘subhuman, warlike savages’. That is their description, but I thought that some tribes, not all, were warlike savages.

Yes, in one village I have a particular interest in, in Carmarthenshire, I’m told by locals that five ‘Refugee’ families have moved in to council accommodation. Silently, clandestinely. They don’t work. In fact, cannot as English is not spoken. Apparently, there are calls from some for banners to be make up emblazoned with the words: “Welcome Refugees”. I’m sure that this muslim advance guard will welcome that support and duly report that back to others anxious to overrun the country with islam.

Thanks, I shall buy the Mail today, instead of the Express

Stringer also says “Computer models used by climate change experts are flawed”

The flaw is the Arrhenius formula used in all those Computer Models. Assuming that this formula is a fiction would explain why the second law of thermodynamics does not seem to support this Victorian era theory of Atmospheric warming.

But then this would explain why Stringer is regarded by Mensa members as a lonely genius amongst a herd of morons.

This is the explanation of the “Greenhouse Effect” from a Mensa article which does seem to comply with the second law of thermodynamics. In fact if you think about gravity pulling molecules downwards towards the surface, you can see that the tendency for molecules to speed up as they descend can explain the mechanism of the Greenhouse theory, below.

“The paper (Unified Theory of Climate, Ned Nikolov & Karl Zeller, 2011) shows that the average surface temperature divided by the grey body temperature gives you the magnitude of the Thermal inertia which resembles the response of the temperature/potential temperature ratio to the altitudinal changes of pressure described by the Poisson formula, with predictions matching evidence for Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Europa, Titan, Triton and the Moon, to prove that the physical nature of the so-called Greenhouse Effect is in fact a Pressure-induced Thermal Enhancement or Thermal Inertia which is independent of the atmospheric chemical composition. Mercury and the Moon are used to prove that the Grey body temperature and the average surface temperature are equal when there is no Atmosphere”

I have just been listening to the BBC news and reading the papers this morning. What strikes me is the stranglehold that the liberal left have over our country.
In the Telegraph Gisela Stuart writes that the civil service Mandarins and the liberal left establishment are well on the way to making sure that Brexit never happens.

In the Times David Arronvitch writes that the Burmese are committing genocide against Muslims and that the world community , UN etc, must do something to stop it. He makes no mention in the piece of the many Muslim countries where Christians, Bhuddists, Jews , Hindus are routinely persecuted and murdered and have been for along time. True to form he contrives to smear the UK with some of the blame for this. Why he writes for the Times and not the Guardian is beyond me.

There is piece in the Telegraph which rightly questions why the police are not being investigated for their own incompetent and groundless investigations of Edward Heath and others for sex offensives that the police handled so ineptly in collusion with the BBC.

Then there is a another piece in the Telegraph about MOD lawyers wanting a third investigation into allegations of torture and murder by soldiers in Iraq. I thought this type of hounding of the army had been stopped but no the lefties are mounting another attack.

Just a summary of the news today. All four items show the power of the liberal left establishment to undermine Brexit , the army, any VIP they don’t like and their unthinking admiration and defence of the murderous cult of Islam. If anyone had any doubt about who runs our country I think that you don’t follow the news closely enough. It will take much more than the Brexit vote to free us from the long shadow and crushing tentacles of the liberal left establishment.

I am sure the BBC have been telling me how industry will flee the UK after Brexit and that foreign banks will move to Paris and Bonn. Any one would think the BBC get a fortune from the EU to support its lunatic notions.

Radio 4 still has some wonderful programmes, such as In Our Time. You have to listen with a book nearby as a ‘safe space’ for when they go all SJW. The excellent In Our Time occasionally succumbs to ‘BBC think’ too.

One program covered the Islamic occupation of Spain as if it were a wondrous cultural event for the Spanish. Odd that the Spanish spent hundreds of years getting shot of the enrichers.

Its coverage of the last Islamic invasion of Europe, with the second Siege of Vienna, never once criticised the Muslims, despite admitting they murdered and tortured every one in their path. Had the Muslims not wasted time torturing to death the inhabitants of every city they conquered then they would have over whelmed Vienna.

It did a fascinating program on climate, wandering right up to the lines permitted by the BBC. Stating how the earth only had ice on it for 15% of its time. 85% of the earth’s time has not even had a single cube of ice on it for a glass of scotch. It explored how carbon rises after warming, how the levels of carbon today are not unusual and are at an historically low level. The normally curious Bragg steered his experts carefully around the subject of global warming, saying things like ‘I know this is a contentious area so let’s move on’. Yet a lass on it was desperate tolecture us with a warning about carbon and the earth warming which she managed to do right at the end. It was the final words so no one had an opportunity to challenge her.

There’s a bloke called Dominic O’Connell who does the business slot on Today. During my daily 15 minutes consumption of BBC content today, he introduced his 6.15 slot by quipping that Treeza will speak in a former European banking centre of Europe, Florence and that London could soon find itself as one of the also-rans category in that sense, thanks to da-da: Brexit. Yeah, Dom, that was thigh slappingly funny. This Wildean wit was his way of introducing the Chief Executive of TheCityUK (no, me neither), who was fed a bunch of the usual hand-wringingly, silly and negative doom and gloom stats which he readily agreed to about the City losing tons of jobs, the UK losing influence, tax revenues declining etc., etc.

Look, I know a little bit about this stuff. There is noweher in the EU, or indeed in Europe, which can compare the City and the UK generally for financial services, banking, law, insurance, operations, plus of course the world avails of the jurisdiction of England and Wales, which is overwhelmingly chosen by parties in international, and even domestic agreements in other parts of the world. La Defence, Paris? Don’t make me laugh. Apart from the sclerotic state of the French labour market and all business being taxed to high heaven, there is no support infrastructure or expertise in Paris to speak of. Frankfurt? Slightly less fanciful but it simply cannot hold a candle to London. The only financial centre which can rival the City in Europe, but in a small way (dictated by its size relative to London) is Dublin, which holds the same advantages of the City (and of course is English speaking) and indeed enjoys the advantage of services being cheaper, but is restricted by its limited capacity. Of course, none of these points were mentioned in the interview. The City, London and the UK will adapt and prosper after (a hopefully rock hard, true) Brexit.

    We always have.

Interesting points Jack M. I heard that one reason the City is successful is because of its timezone, which enables it to do business with New York, Europe and the Far East during the same working day. I’m not sure how important this is, but geography has played a large part in Britain’s world success (rich in natural resources, lots of rivers for easy transport, moderate climate, no land border with a hostile country etc). Of course to the average leftoid everything we have is through rape, pillage, colonialism and murder.

    Angela Merkel signals ruin for Europe {theaustralian.com.au 21sep2017}

Angela Merkel is set to win Sunday’s German elections, according to the polls. She will enter a fourth term as Chancellor and rival Helmut Kohl. But whereas Kohl paved the way for German unification, Merkel’s ultimate account before history is much more dubious. The polls also suggest that the far right, anti-EU, anti-immigrant Alternative for Germany could win 100 seats.

But the bigger story is this: Merkel may well be the chief agent of Europe’s demise.

Such is the contention, not quite so explicitly pinned on Merkel, in Douglas Murray’s brilliant new book, The Strange Death of Europe {amazon}. Murray starts with this bold assertion, “Europe is committing suicide”, and by the end of his 350 withering pages it is hard to disagree.

So that’s the net moral assessment of European history: it exported war and turmoil. Bildt also calls for the end of national identities within Europe. Yet, as Murray points out, the new immigrants who come to Europe surely don’t give up their identities.

    – Maybe, just maybe, Douglas Murray will add some reasoning to these debates regarding immigration.
    – I sent a copy of The Strange Death of Europe {amazon} to 10 Downing Street.

It’s noticeable mind (when you look across loads of them) that I’m far better at technical stuff, the aircraft carrier I did a few months ago stands out as being somewhat standout-ishly realistic.

I recently decided to pick up a few more art things up down the shops and post some music related silliness to http://www.maestrocartoon.com – That stuff isn’t anything to do with politics but as with this, I just thought I’d take a subject I like, do one per week and slowly get better over a year.

Politics wise, I just wish Boris would take a shot at goal or pass the ball. There’s nothing worse than someone who plots year after year but can’t pull the trigger (look at Heseltine) and I do wonder if he’s got any ideas for if/when he makes it or if it’ll be like Brown, all talk and nothing to show. Like I said, Churchill was a great writer but a bad PM after the Germans were gone.

    Theresa May Brexit speech to be ‘open and generous offer’ to EU {bbc.co.uk 21sep2017}
The party’s Brexit spokesman Tom Brake said: “This a chance for the prime minister to show she’s listened to the message sent by voters at the election and to seek a Brexit deal that has majority support in the country. “That should include staying in the single market, separating the issue of EU nationals’ rights so they are not used as bargaining chips, and giving the public a vote on the final deal.”

    Have Your Say…

We should only pay what we are legally obliged to pay (or receive…). If that figure isn’t forthcoming, then we pay nothing at all.

The EUs’ position has been consistently unrealistic and unreasonable. For a negation to be successful it needs to be done in goof faith i.e. it requires both parties to compromise. It is crystal clear that the EU has no intention or ability to do so and hence we should walk away.

“Jesus, is there no way of getting thru to u pple. The fact is they are foreign-owned co´s & rely on many EU-made parts. If thr bowttom line is threatened, they´ll move.” Please post the links where these companies state they are leaving? Here is a link to a BBC article what shows that Toyota are investing £240 million.

WOW another BREXIT article where the comments section is open… BBC really want Jo Public slagging off BREXIT don’t they…. I would like it if the BBC had a answer back section by them on these comments… Poor news again by the BBC!!!!!…. Can’t believe we have to pay for a licence for this crap

…They cannot punish us any more than WTO even if they wanted to..

“The EU’s position has been consistent.” When your position is wrong like the EU, consistency is not something to be proud of.

Remove politicians from this entire process. Let business work it out to mutual advantage.

Any offer of money is giving in to fear and shows a loss of nerve from the British side. It also represents an affirmation of the righteousness of the EU project. Blackmailing us for cash to ‘unlock’ trade talks is not on. We should hold our nerve and let German business pressure build on their side!

    Kuenssberg’s irrelevant opinion again

you can vote my comment as much as you like but fact is fact. Go to a shopping center; Nandos/Costa/Nero/Prezzo/Zizzi/Pizza express and hundreds of shops are manned by those EU nationals you dislike. I was in bluewater neer darford for the day…i would say 50% of the workforce was not from UK. and 95% of the shoppers were UK. Get your 5million underclass to fill these jobs then.

Exactly, it’s simple economics….how many of these manufacturers can you see spending billions on moving their operations into the EU only to import into the UK? Take Nissan for example, owned by Renault who’ve wanted to move it for years but it’s too efficient, as with many UK manufacturers. As you say, it’s simple economics, that says they won’t be going anywhere.

Yes, being in the EU hasn’t done UK any harm at all! And we will be even better off again when we stop paying into the corrupt EU, can make change our own laws to suit the UK and attract more business, reduce unemployment even more and pay off more of Labour deficit mess. The future sure is looking bright, a country that leads the way again, with ambition and pride

The only thing remotely resembling a tranny was ‘Gloria’ from ‘It Ain’t Half Hot Mum!’

Granted there was Jan Morris who had a sex change but it was rarely mentioned except in passing as she had a proper career as a writer, not a grievance monger.

Want to know what’s really going on in the world, especially the wonderful world of islam?
Ignore beebistan, have a look at this: https://www.jihadwatch.org/
The aggression, the encroachment, the radicalisation, the spread of sharia, the islamisation of the West are all relentless, as is the pusillanimous surrender by those who are supposed to be defending us, with the notable exception of the much maligned Trump.
And most craven of all, of course, is our most trusted broadcaster, Al beebeera.

As the bbc informs us, we’re just too wrapped up in our most pressing concern – Transgenderism.
Hair, make up, frocks, colour co-ordinating, hiding genitals – it leaves little time for anything else and of course, there’s fighting discrimination. Oh the humanity.

“Women in Sport”, comprised of feminist lunatics (allegedly), were one of the groups pressuring the FA to sack Mark Sampson the manager of the women’s English National Women’s Football team.

This lunatic (allegedly) rabid feminist (allegedly) and anti-male (allegedly) campaign group is a CHARITY – meaning they get to push their agenda tax-free. Someone should check to see how easily charity status is given to various lunatic pressure groups and Islamic groups within the UK. I wonder whether there are terrorist groups masquerading as UK charities through which they are able to launder money.

Full day Teachers Conference in Yorkshire OR the indoctrination of young minds to create a more compliant country. You decide. {twitter 15sep2017} … and who is paying for this conference?

“New rule: If churches don’t have to pay taxes, they can’t call the fire department when they catch fire. Sorry reverend, that’s one of those services that goes along paying in. I’ll use the fire department I pay for. You can pray for rain.” – Bill Maher

… or in other words …

If the God of Islam is great and all powerful, being able to communicate directly with humankind via a book, he does not need the protection and advice at a conference which is paid for by the UK Tax Payer, without representation.

… or in other words …

Please use the UK Tax Payers money to educate our children about the World and we will leave it to the Imam’s to pray for Islam.
