The anti-science reporting of climate science continues day after day at the BBC. Desperate to convince us that humans are changing the weather, the reporting regularly descends to a level that would shame a junior school science lesson.
So we have David Attenborough using the opening of Kew Garden’s newly refurbished Victorian glasshouse as an excuse to talk about deserts increasing around the globe. Some deserts are on the increase, some diminishing, it was always thus – we know from the geological record. Absent from his biased reporting is any mention that the globe has been greening up nicely over the last few decades with small mostly natural rises in global temperatures. Some scientists – real ones – suggest a 10% rise in plant life due to small increases in C02 that have had a beneficial effect in reducing world famine.
Not in the script David that all those nice activists gave you to read out loud.
This afternoon’s “Inside Science” was full of the usual “ifs” that characterise science on the BBC these days. There was a piece on supposed declines of seabird populations on the Yorkshire coast “if” prey species moved due to higher sea water temperatures (unspecified, needless to say – have temperatures actually risen – has prey declined?)
Then we had a piece on the giant Thwaites glacier in west Antarctica that is supposedly in rapid retreat and “if” climate change occurs “might” lead to higher, much higher, sea levels. One interviewee rather let the cat out of the bag when she noted that scientists were interested in the upper beaches on the glacier formed when sea levels were much higher. Beaches formed, in other words, long before humans started using oil and gas and probably long before humans were even around. It need hardly be added that such inconvenient facts are largely ignored by activist presenters who want the audience to believe that sea levels rise for only one reason. So scare after scare is piled on for a political purpose with little or no basis in science – in the BBC’s case there is a willful disregard of any skeptical science, an editorial policy that has been in place for 12 years.
In fact it seems to be getting worse. In 2013 science correspondent Jonathan Amos reported on the work of Bedmap2, a co-operative science project involving 60 scientists from 14 countries. It was found that Antarctica had almost 5% more ice than previously thought. Amos wrote: “ …. the extra ice is shown to lie mostly below the current water line and so if melted it would not add significantly to the volume already displaced”. This reporting is similar to the view of many scientists who dispute that sea levels will rise that much if glacier ice melts. Amos might also have noted the view that removing a colossal weight from the land underneath would almost certainly cause some compressed land mass to rise. And he could have also noted that it has been snowing buckets in Antarctica for over 100 years.
Reporting fair and balanced stuff like that these days at the BBC would most likely get you fired. Today Mr Amos notes that most of the Thwaites glacier is under water but he suggests that the retreat is “accounting for around 4% of global sea level rise”.
If only.

Science by definition is ‘sceptical’. Without scepticism scientific discipline and the scientific method would collapse. The narrative of ‘settled science’ and labelling of sceptics as ‘deniers’ is arguably the most corrosive act committed by the BBC against our advanced western democracy.
Harrabin, Attenborough and the rest of the BBC eco-fascists should be brought to account for perpetuating a lie that has the direst economic and social consequences for our country.
The BBC has the resources and influence to open a proper scientific debate on this most critical area of science and government policy, then who knows what might follow – hopefully a few lights might go on in politicians’ heads.

It was excruciating enough listening to Jezza Vine, talk about this rather sordid and abnormal subject on his show yesterday at midday, without then being subjected to another er…dose of it on the local news; up here Look North at 6.30 that evening.
I’m no prude by any means but I think it was quite inappropriate to broadcast discussions of such a topic at those times, when there will be young children around. Some of the folk who rang into the Whine Show with this “condition” clearly had underlying issues to put it mildly.
Maybe al Beebus are thinking if such behaviour can be categorised as an addiction or illness, then it can be used as a defence for the behaviour of folk such as the pedophiles and rapists that the organisation seems to attract?

I turned to ‘Atlas Shrugged’ for the first time for several months, and was most interested to read the remarkable story of Tony Iwobi, a Christian of Nigerian origin, and now a minister in the Italian Northern League https://gellerreport.com/2018/05/iwobi-defend-country.html/ He has a great deal to say about muslim jihad against Christians from the Biafra war up until the present day, and on the folly of allowing muslims to swamp Europe. A lot of the information was new to me, and it is sad reflection on the once-honest BBC that they would never countenance airing such news and comment on any of their programmes.
In my local election all candidates were British Pakistani Muslim apart from the Green Party Candidate. And all parties were left of centre (some far left) apart from the Conservative Candidate. In the end I decided to vote for a British Pakistani Muslim Conservative. I decided against spoiling my ballot, but there wasn’t much choice. There definitely seems to be a concerted effort to get Islam (no matter what party) into power.

If we had to racially select an audience before we allowed them in to make sure the quotas are right we wouldn’t get enough in the way of box office takings. My suggestion is that we let anybody who wants to come to theatre. We need audiences. I don’t care if they are bloody Martians. Unfortunately, jokes – even when obvious – can nowadays provoke all sorts of responses and snowball way beyond deserved attention. I cite as evidence for that the row that occupied space on the BBC w-s for several days over a jokey Tweet from a Conservative candidate or councillor or something in, I think, the north-west of England.
I noticed that Goon Show and I’m Sorry I’ll Read That Again repeats sometimes come with a ‘health warning’ these days. Some of the things Bill Oddie used to come out with as ‘running gags’ (standard repeat jokes) on ISIRTA would probably result in the BBC getting closed down today.
As others have observed, we have to be as absolutely faultless on here as possible. The BBC can get it wrong. And do. They get away with it. But this site will attract a lot of hostility, probably engineered, if we slip up.

Well done Camilla Tominey for highlighting the fact that she was the only Brexiteer to the four Remainers on the panel. Stating also that others have noticed the anti Brexit bias on the programme. Dimbleby clearly annoyed. He really is a fascist idiot.
This means that she probably will not be invited back on the programme. It is quite possible not any programme on the BBC. The fact she knows this makes her act a very brave one. I seem to remember Julie Hartley Brewer making the same point on the programme. I haven’t seen her since on the programme.
David Liddington was a completely pathetic character and did not support Camilla at any stage. He should have done, the opportunity about the BBC bias was there. He left Camilla out to dry. Quite appalling. I say sack the incompetent traitorous wimp.

As well as QT I also listened to Any Questions and noticed something new (it is a long time since I last listened to it). Instead of just clapping (which they do far too often, interrupting the discussion) the audience shriek like young girls. This happened throughout the programme. What is next, vuvuzelas given out at the door? I found it intolerable. Has anybody complained, I wonder? It would be easy to ask the audience not to do it.
Liddington is just a vacuous blatherer, I remember watching him on QT a while back and being singularly unimpressed; this was before he got a far more senior cabinet position. Ma May certainly knows how to pick ’em.
I’m very selective on which QT I choose to watch, if there’s no one likely to stir things up: I don’t bother with it.

A female footballer guesting on BBC tv this morning perhaps goes further than she may have intended to explain in large part the BBC’s ardent enthusiasm for the women’s game.
Have you ever watched a shopping channel? It’s lame stuff. Desperate presenters engage in fakey conversation with oneanother in praise of the product – competing as to how much they love that product. A product you may think you could happily live without – and thereby attempting to persuade the viewer that they simply must buy. Well, at least we all know the game the shopping channels are playing.

Started listening just before the 7.40-ish newspaper review. Air of gloom at BBC in the TOADY studio. Norman Smith almost in tears. Socks at half-mast. ‘Part-time’ was reading from a piece of paper. It sounded like her planned report had been torn up and Sarah Sands or the Editors-of-the-day had pushed a sheet of paper into Laura’s hands at the last minute with the instructions ‘read this’. Black armbands all round, office curtains left almost closed.
Brandon Lewis had been scheduled to appear for the Conservatives after a night when the BBC had been expecting (hoping?) they would be shredded in the Local Authority elections. He did a good job with an interrupty Martha (goodness, gracious! – she wasn’t like that at Kew Gardens) and accepted the very few losses openly. Martha didn’t like that.
The Labour Party-loving-BBC are not happy.

Labour can’t oust lying tory scum when the BBC have patiently explained that it was lying Tory scum who caused the Grenfell Tower fire, created all the problems in the NHS and are racists to people whose files were destroyed by labour.
Sorry BBC. But if Labour cannot win seats now then something is wrong and it isn’t “managing voter expectations”.

I am going to be lurking on Facebook today which is where a lot of the action happens. Labour supporters always at war with Tory supporters on the Tory page and of course a lot of trolling. The Labour lot have been very aggressive the past few days but so far a lot of them have been left very quiet. Unless there is a ‘victory’ for Corbyn there is very little for them to get hyped up over but I expect to see Labour share Corbyn’s Plymouth speech all over the internet and no doubt that the BBC will be using that as ‘Glastonbury 2018’
Oh, I don’t know – they manage mine. Under Corbyn I expect them to be a bunch of lying, anti-Capitalist, anti-Western, anti-Semitic, violent, terrorist-supporting, Islam-loving, communist vermin.
I haven’t kept up with parties and their performances, but was disappointed with the UKIP result, which provided especially Nick Robinson with a lot of childish glee.
One would have thought that, with the Lords already having declared war on the people, Commons waiting in the wings to see whether the negotiations sounded as if they might be panning out for the referendum result, in which case THEY would TELL us what they think of us (trumpeting their sovereignty, but forgetting that that DERIVES FROM THE SOVEREIGNTY of the people)- and that it was no business of theirs, stealing the final decision from the people.
That leaves government, and -in particular- Ms May. The whole lot of them have been disappointing, especially her.
A strong UKIP would have made her think twice. We had to rely on Tory backbenchers. PHHHHT to that.
I think a lot of the voters could have been worried that a vote for UKIP would have split the vote and allowed a Labour candidate to get in by default. This happened in my constituency at last year’s GE.
I think that UKIP won’t gain much support in the long term. I know a few people who still support them but only the strongest of Brexiters. Once we do leave the EU then naturally their support would likely to decline further as they would have achieved their goal by that stage.
Indeed Labour cannot be trusted on Brexit so if voters want to vote tactfully then the UKIP vote will go towards the Tories instead.
Previous years the BBC had a technique, whereby they only cover UKIP if there’s something negative …and then they’d run attacks on UKIP
..that obviously backfired.
.. So they seem to have reverted to almost zero coverage
..and that has worked
On our local channels there was minimal prior coverage of this weeks councils elections for all parties.

The BBC has two main weapons against the serious charges of institutional bias – stout denial and the hide of a rhinoceros. But every now and then the arrows get through and the creature starts to yelp.
Such a rare event occurred last night on Question Time when the formidable journalist Camilla Tominey provoked David Dimbleby by pointing out that the panel was always composed of a majority of people against Brexit. Dimbleby, a long time noted Corporation grouch, was beside himself with anger, suggesting that it was impossible to always maintain a balance (trying doing it just once, David). Then he fumed that two members of the panel accepted the Brexit vote, as if that justified the initial bias. The magnificent Tominey stuck to her guns. Time is always pressing on the programme – she could gone on to note that no American is ever bought on to explain why Trump won the election and nobody described as a “comedian” is ever funny. Last night’s smug offering Matt Forde made one think that even Marcus Brigstock would have been an improvement.
Everything about Question Time and its radio twin is subtly staged from the panel to the carefully unselected audience. Note how many times the programme comes from areas of high public sector employment, people most likely to vote for left wing policies. Notice how often teachers and medical staff and social workers are called to ask questions.
There are more plants on this programme than Gardeners’ Question Time.

Last week’s audience for Any Questions in Sevenoaks was obviously full of ‘plants’. Jonathan Dimbleby at one point tried to explain (trot out the usual BBC claimed, er, I mean lame excuse) that the audience was ‘self-selecting’. (Oh yeah?) He then, almost immediately, shot himself in the foot by pointing out that Kent had voted pretty much in the same national proportion in the EU Referendum.
I laughed!
Quite right CM, the phrase ‘the lady doth protest too much’ summing up Dimblies outrageous and juvenile performance. Camilla was, without any shadow of doubt, the only honest Brexit voice against an array of petty-minded Remainers – but what’s new about that? She should at least take comfort from the fact that her performance made fellow panel members look and sound total lightweights, although I must except Matt Forde whose political acumen and weight of intelligence could be easily exceeded by my 8 month old grandson, even without a full nappy.

I remember being taken aback a few years ago when I heard that the England cricket team were playing an international test, on further investigation I wasn’t badly informed it was the women’s team but nothin was said in the bulletin to clarify that.
Some women’s sport is great, in horse racing men and women compete on equal terms, the Olympic basketball was an eye opener, different to the men’s game and not quite as physical but it had a different set of qualities, especially long range shooting, that made it absolutely a great watch. Then you have cricket and football and at the risk of repeating a cliche one can’t help but think that a well drilled team of keen teenaged lads would compete on equal terms with most international women’s teams.
So if in the pursuit of diversity and inclusiveness the BBC wish to also broadcast from the local 3G pitch while a group of young amateur men test themselves to a similiar level I won’t complain. I won’t hold my breath.

I suspect that my first guess was possibly correct. Sergei Skripal had probably obtained the drug, whatever it was, in Russia while he was in the GRU or later from a contact in the GRU or FSB. Or Julia did. Or someone else in Russia, or with Russian links, did. Either he or Julia brought it to the UK.
In the first instance, it was probably a mutual suicide. Significant evidence? The visits to the family graves followed by a final drink and meal together. Don’t forget the poisoning of the pets, too, along with the concentration on the front door handle of the house and, now very significantly, the new news that the Skripals had left a trail of the stuff (small amount – only four BBC teaspoonfuls – just like sugar! < please note a mocking tone is implied there) around Salisbury.
In the second instance (Julia acquiring or being given the drug) then it could have been a Russian intelligence assassination attempt, by Julia, or a business/criminal hit by her for something or some reason unknown. However, Theresa May as PM has been under constant pressure since last year's General Election. It is not too far a concept for me to consider that maybe someone decided this event, tragic as it so nearly was for one unconnected person, could be 'played' for political advantage over Jeremy Corbyn and also might bring down one or two other challengers to Theresa May's place in No.10.
Evidence? Corbyn was attacked straight away – even by the BBC – for his response to Salisbury. And dear old Bojo had one of his 'unconnected brain, moving mouth moments' on it as well.
Theresa May decided to use it to make herself look like a strong leader on the world stage, especially in Europe and the EU, but didn't realise how quickly things could get out of hand.
Whether the BBC and media media that is hostile to Theresa May, the Conservative Party & government and Brexit merely reacted out of natural understanding mixed with fear, or, whether they decided just to stir the Cold War/Hot War pot out of malicious intent due to the aforementioned hostility to the PM, etc., I do not know. Either could be a possibility.
There is another faint possibility. The Civil Service were up to some mischief. In the past I would have been horrified at the suggestion and protested on their behalf their impartiality and integrity. Post-EU Referendum and after other 21st century Whitehall scandals, I am now not so sure.
We live in interesting times.
I could be totally or partially wrong, of course. All I have to go on is the evidence, almost entirely from the BBC (courtesy of their inadequate journalism & presentation) together with a little bit from one or two UK newspapers.

I thought the guinea pigs had died of thirst due to the house being sealed and the cat had to be euthanised at Porton Down due to being so “distressed”; all of the dead animals were subsequently incinerated at Porton Down.
Because it was just too dangerous to store the bodies due to the potential risk from them – on the premises of one of the world centres for chemical and biological weapons research and production.

I caught part of a programme on R4 this morning, about all those hard working foreigners here in the UK and the remittances sent to their home countries; the annual value of which was given as £16 billion and therefore greater than the UK’s exorbitant overseas aid budget.
I was surprised that al Beebus made such a programme, since they are always (drip-drip) extolling the virtues of the absolute good that is immigration and imply how Britain would practically cease to exist without these folk here.
Yet here we have £16 billion per year, every year, no longer circulating in our economy, regardless of all the tax these folk (allegedly) pay or how much “shopping” they buy. This is an enormous financial hit to our country and is, not surprisingly, ignored by those who champion unceasing immigration to the UK.
Al, £16bn per annum gone from the UK economy? That’s up £10bn in about twenty years.
And in a time of vile austerity, low pay and near total poverty, too.

GOOD NEWS – well at least I take the local election results as good news. On QT last night, Martyn Lewis said that students should not be included in the immigration figures.
I think it’s meaningless because if, for example, 100,000 students arrive for a 3 year university course, after 3 years 100,000 students will leave.
A net gain/loss of 0 students.
Removing the students from the immigration figures will make no difference.
Maybe the government will have more opportunity to fiddle the figures to somehow make it appear that net immigration is falling but I think they are on full ‘fiddle’ now anyway.
Also, when they were discussing housing, why did nobody ask “Does the yearly 300,000 net increase from immigration have ANY effect on the housing shortage”
Most of the 300,000 will be directly competing with our youth for the ‘affordable’ housing.
