I was going to call it the Easter Open Thread but this site is primarily about bearing witness to the bias of the Far Left BBC as opposed to specific religions [or none ]. Any way – there is a new line of attack for us . The BBC has whole heartedly swallowed all the human- activity-changing- climate stuff . You may agree or not .
But the point is – if the BBC wants to cut its ‘carbon fingerprint ‘ – is it doing it ? How many beeboids are sent to stand in front of events to talk at the camera when they’d do the same job sitting in a studio ? How much carbon is used and taxpayers’ cash spent ?
‘Does this evil organisation practice what it now preaches ? Perhaps every programme should have its carbon footprint published – the number of air miles and car miles – and programme cost -for starters .
Happy Easter .
First ?
Happy Easter !

Fed, you ask this in your header above: “But the point is – if the BBC wants to cut its ‘carbon fingerprint ‘ – is it doing it ?”
The answer is no.
The BBC is pushing for digital radio. IIRC, there is a saving in energy for the actual broadcast but the receivers are horribly inefficient compared to a conventional receiver. They used to require 20x more power. I think that has improved but it is still much more energy intensive that FM/AM/LW/MW/SW broadcasting.
On digital TV, I gather it is the other way round. The broadcasts take more power but the saving is in the viewers home. Unless of course, they keep getting pestered by the Licence Police in a fossil-fuel burning vehicle.
All that overlooks the extra carbon emissions in manufacture (usually on the other side of the globe) of new sets and screens, their transport, purchase and installation and the disposal of the obsolete hardware. All that, apparently, [sarcasm alert] cannot possibly count toward world CO2 emissions.

I suppose the amount of energy the BBC uses is in the accounts somewhere – not including the overseas element and the big outside broadcasts .
If the BBC is a believer that mankind is destroying the planet – then the BBC should account for itself don’t you think ?
I only push the issue as a weapon to use against the ‘ evil aunty’ . Personally I go for the ‘lovelock ‘ approach that if we abuse the planet it will abuse us back…

Fed “Personally I go for the ‘lovelock ‘ (as in James Lovelock?) approach that if we abuse the planet it will abuse us back…”
I would tend to agree with that but I also think that nature is far more adaptable than we now give it credit for. Once upon a time, humans were adaptable, too. Things like carbon resources aka fossil fuels are there for us to use and benefit from.
I have to make a confession here: I’m a bit of an environment conservative and conservationist. Sort of a ‘greenie’ but not a gullible greenie. I would distance myself a million miles from Extinction Rebellion and other nonsense that comes from most environmentalists. When it comes to waste, I’m with the Germans as a whole. Let’s do this properly and in order.
So one of the things that makes me hopping mad is plastic pollution. Not from the way that Attenborough and the Beeb see it and foolishly broadcast it. (Did I hear correctly that there was a substantial fall in recycling in the UK since that programme hit the airwaves?)
We pay heavily in the UK to have our waste removed. We entered into good faith contracts with our Local Authorities (LAs) and national Government (nG) that engaging in recycling would have a beneficial effect. We now find that the good faith contracts with LAs and nG and their subcontractors appear not to have been honoured. At all. In addition, the sub-contractors work has not been properly overseen by LAs and nG. At all.
Anybody our there wanting to sue? I do but am not wealthy enough to do it.
What is worse, we are now going to be forced to pay extra (with the additional damage that inflation does to our economy and the poor and mid-paid) because of the failure by nG, LAs and their sub-contractors and their clients overseas who have just dumped stuff they could not be bothered to deal with or that was surplus to production.

Fed “Personally I go for the ‘lovelock ‘ (as in James Lovelock?) approach that if we abuse the planet it will abuse us back…”
I like Lovelock in general but do not go along with his (pagan) Gaia theory. I believe in creation and a Creator and that our biosphere is here to sustain and provide for us until the end of time.
That does not mean we should abuse it. Of course not.
I also think that nature is far more adaptable than we now give it credit for. Once upon a time, humans were adaptable, too. Things like carbon resources aka fossil fuels, are there for us to use and benefit from.

So one of the things that makes me hopping mad is plastic pollution. Not from the way that Attenborough and the Beeb see it and foolishly broadcast it and promote it. (Did I hear correctly that there was a substantial fall in recycling in the UK since that programme hit the airwaves? ie. A significant number in the UK have said “Why bother if it’s going to be chucked in the sea out East?”)

You and your editing . I don’t take the pagan element of what lovelock says – in that the planet is ‘alive ‘ so it doesn’t affect my belief in God .
I agree that technology will deal with problems as they arise . We are pretty clever when up against it – especially if cash is involved .
I believe in conserving energy resources if only to weaken fundamentalist Islam – which I think Mr Trump will have a look at in the second term .
I’ve often wondered if domestic recycling actually achieves anything ? Can us actually be done ?
But that’s environment stuff and my little idea about holding the BBC to account on its own environmental message seems a good weapon to use against it .
The weakness is that they’ll want more licence money to administer it .

Fed, “You and your editing .” 🙂 You and your phat phingering on that ol’ touchscreen o’yourn! 😉
I deliberately waited until 1min of edit time had gone. I was up near top of page. I now wonder, because I mentioned Lovelock and Attenborough (name-checked them) whether someone has hacked this site and uses certain names as part of their search algorithms? One way of keeping ‘an eye’ on us? That’s one for the B-BBC computer geeks to go after.
Domestic recycling? Yes, it does work. I wouldn’t be surprised if fleeces that I have bought or been given in the ‘noughties and tens’ were in part my used drinks bottles in the last two decades of the 20th century. We use composite boards now for many activities – they often come from recycled or waste timber from other processes. Paper recycling works, too. Am all in favour.
I use stuff creatively and ordinarily. I almost never buy bottled water and just re-fill fruit juice drink or other water bottles that have been washed taken from a safe, known source. Bird scarers can be made out of old useless ISP CDs. Other commercial packaging gets put to second or third uses.
As to the BBC, yes please do go after them on digital & the power required and CO2 expended. I have. If more viewers and listeners do then maybe they will ‘get an overdose of their own medicine’ and richly deserved it will be.
Happy Easter.
And feel free to delete the excess above the line above at some point. Just to keep things tidy. 😉

The BBC continue to fly their journalists, correspondent operators all over the world, goodness knows how much carbon emissions that blows out. Such as these ill advised, mixed with opportunists Climate Change people-as apparently one well known woman has flown god only knows how many miles to support some section or other Climate Change group-just think of the Carbon emissions it will take to get her to wherever it is she is going! Bonkers-the real problem for this world is Pollution, which is the one factor that is causing problems, not Climate Change perse which has been going on for trillions of years.

Or there was that time about thirty years ago when Sting was dragging his pal (with the huge wooden disc stretching his bottom lip) from the Amazonian rain forest around all the big British television chat shows like BBC’s Wogan, telling all and sundry that we were all killing the planet? If you switched over to ITV around the same time, there was Sting being driven across a desert doing a commercial for Jaguar in one of their fuel guzzling 3 Litre cars.

I wonder if the USA is aware of this. “Five eyes” most certainly will be.
The question that arises, is NATO and America OK with the idea that the UK will be a member of the EU army, if we stay in the EU? Why? Is it because Britain will, for Five Eyes, be able to keep an eye from the inside, on the German lead EU army?

Some good news from China.
Of course, the Muslims are playing the pity card, but neglect to mention their failed attempt to break away from China since the 1990s and implement Sharia law. That coupled with the highest rate of terrorist attacks in the country have forced the government to stamp down on their radicalism.
Many Chinese on Reddit have compared it to the Jews of pre-WW2 era except in this case it is different as the Germans become progressively worse towards the Jews the more they were attacked by the Jews of the UK and USA. In this instance, there is no world power Islamic state to wage war on China for their actions.
Whilst I don’t agree with the Chinese on all matters, I do admire how they don’t fall for any Western ‘equality’ nonsense. The Chinese hate everyone not Chinese. They hate blacks the most, followed by Arabs, followed by whites.

Who is reminding us of the University of East Anglia Climate Research Unit fakery and Climategate emails? In answer to gumball, I think the original presentation was from 1996, with current levels of mass people movement/social engineering I think it’s more relevant than ever. None of the proponents of such activity ever stop to consider those that are as Roy Beck says, too poor, too disconnected, or too sick to ever hope of moving to another country. Instead we entice their doctors and other professionals away from where they are most needed, then wring hands at the lack of medical care in such places.

But they want to bring the toilet into our living rooms in the vicinity of children (male children).

I wonder if others have noticed the way the BBC appear to take the stance of ‘Nothing to do with us, we’re just accurately impartially reporting the news’ when ever a position they have clearly been supporting turns out to be completely wrong.
You can imagine the way the BBC would report anthropogenic climate change being proved positive that it didn’t exist – the BBC would shrug their corporate shoulders and pretend they never took a biased position at all.
They do this every time, just recalled it over the Trump reporting.

I had the unfortunate experience of listening to Harrabin this morning on Toady, as I couldn’t reach the off button fast enough. He was explaining that to meet the ER demands people will need to make sacrifices including throwing out their gas boilers and replacing them with… ? ….and selling their fossil fuelled cars !!!!!!! WTF ???
WHO are they going to sell them to ? – you and your kind are making them worthless – I screamed.
How are all the hundreds of crushing plants going to be powered as all the cars in the country get trashed.
What about the pollution/waste from that ?
Even ‘tourettes’ had to admit this would be a ‘politically brave position to take’ (as Sir Humphrey Appleby might have said)

Climate Change was really Global Warming: The Facts where really make believe Assumptions. The BBC cherry picks extreme weather events and props up scientific fraud such as talking to the Mann who produced the fraudulent “Hockey Stick” and using the NOAA/NASA doctored temperature data, used to help Obama eliminate the Pause/Hiatus/Peak in time for the Paris Conference. https://principia-scientific.org/how-noaa-nasa-doctored-temperature-data-to-get-record-warm-years
Other top scientists included scientifically unqualified children and that ex-BBC ecoloon Richard Black producing FEAR. As well as that awful man and others who work with Peter Cox at the University of Exeter producing all those silly computer models. James (Boiling Oceans) Hanson ,who left NASA to become a full time ecoloon, lots of female environmental activists and some people benefiting from the subsidies for technology side of the Climate scam.
But I didn’t spot a single Atmospheric Physicist, Meteorologist or Solar Astronomer saying whether it was false or not. The only intelligent scientific thing said in the whole program was when Donald Trump said it was a “Hoax”
At the end, a small child and David Attenborough demanded that all ecoloons should rebel and rise up against the plebs in a call to arms against Western Civilisation and all white people in general, but not the EU.
The BBC Climate propaganda documentary urged all viewers to support Extinction Rebellion in its revolution. “Up the Revolution”

I pray we can regain our national sanity without recourse to insurrection because as our three, yes three civil wars and the American civil war can confirm, once a civil war starts, there’s no knowing where it will end and how many innocents will die.

The extinction bunch have already made serious errors in carrying out their insurgency. First off they make impossible demands instead of reasonable ones which they can then escalate . This is dumb. Then they back themselves into a corner where they have to escalate further to keep momentum. So they threaten to shut Heathrow. Now even in war there are rules written and unwritten because that is the way humans have to behave to avoid complete meltdown .
I have no doubt that their leaders were told that closing Heathrow would mean the riot police going in all over London. These demonstrators are little boys and girls and that would be terrifying for them. Next the authorities seem to be playing it OK. The aim must be to get them to back off and disperse peacefully. The crunch will come if they refuse or rather their leaders do. It has to be ended one way or another and these kiddies are not the types to go all out for a real confrontation . That is reserved for real revolutionaries determind to take over the state.
They have achieved publicity and got people talking. Time to go home. Problem is they are fired up ,overestimate their power and are losing the public daily. .This is why I think the authorities are treading carefully. Let us hope it ends peacefully.

What about population growth?
Why don’t they protest in China, India etc?

Why can’t I take “direct action” against them?

Imagine the outrage if and when a child is badly hurt.

Me either.
A lot of impressionable, malleable minds being subjected to indoctrination by old buggers in pony tails. Plus some women.
Things seem to be stalling.
‘Dr’ Bateman’s Alinsky #101 training video has a section on past protests that worked, including certain monks in Vietnam.
She thinks it is all ‘great fun’.

Richard P,
My very simple approach to whatever the BBC, or anybody else like to call, ‘Climate Change’, asks one question: why have we not been presented with programmes consisting of debate between, Real Experts?
Lying by omission is the BBC’s prize approach. That’s why it calls itself, “The World’s Most Trusted Broadcaster”………………
‘Climate Change’, is all to do with a strand of cultural Marxism and fragmenting the Worlds population.

9pm Radio4 a repeat of How to be a Better Activist
What with Tommy Robinson and James Goddard ?
Nope
Blurb “Co-founder of the global Occupy protests, Micah White, explains how the failure of his movement showed him how activism needs to be redefined.”

Here’s a recent impartial tweet from the programme maker
Calling for a Corbyn Remainer government

No, that was the Occupy movement started by a Canadian NGO called Adbusters. Which was financed by the Tides Foundation. And the Tides Foundation funders include the Ford Foundation, the Gates Foundation and the Open Society Institute (Soros). Then you’ve got contributors like Robert Halper. Or support from the Movement Resource Group, which included Ben Cohen, Jerry Greenfield, Danny Goldberg and Norman Lear.
Yeah, really anti-capitalist. But you can understand the BBC not wanting to highlight that an ‘anti-capitalist’ movement was financed by billionaires. Unwashed students and ageing hippies wouldn’t turn up for that, would they?

That’s definite then – Labour are now Remain?

It is amazing if no surprise that no media or pols apparently read the XR website or followed its links to see them following Alinsky to the letter.
The manipulation of the media has been almost 100% per advice. And worked.

Pug,
I too find Alice Weidel an impressive politician. Strong, courageous, articulate and charismatic, she is emerging as an inspirational figure and champion not just for traditionally-minded Germans but for European civilisation generally.

“Strong, courageous, articulate and charismatic”… and HOT!
I can see her on a horse, whip in hand, having a go at the hunt saboteurs…
But I’m getting carried away.

I don’t get it – why are the police going after the terrorists who shot a journo? I mean – charge – trial – conviction – fget out of jail
Free card – compensation .
But is a soldier shoots said terrorist – it’s the full investigation and charge – even after 40 years . Why bother .
I know this is harsh – but journo had a choice about being at a riot whereas the coppers had to be there . This time they lived ..

Hmmm, I see that the BBC has responded to complaints that Fiona Bruce made the unforgiveable error of contradicting a Labour MP (and black to boot) on Question Time:
Miss Abbott insisted that her party and the Tories were ‘level-pegging’, but host Miss Bruce said: ‘You’re behind Diane… definitely.’
The two parties had been neck-and-neck in polls, with Labour ahead in some surveys while another had showed the Tories with a lead of five points.
Miss Bruce had tried to draw a line under the row the week after the broadcast, telling viewers that she ‘should have made the context clear’ and was happy to do so.
Yesterday, the BBC’s complaints unit ordered the Corporation to issue a correction, which said: ‘Miss Abbott was right to describe the overall situation as “kind of level pegging”, and we should not have described Labour as “definitely” behind on the basis of a single poll.’
The BBC has an Editorial Complaints Unit? Who knew.
It took the ECU only a matter of months to respond to the Diane Abbott complaint and uphold it, sort of. It takes years for a genuine response to similar complaints from the political centre or right and upholding such complaints is as rare as the BBC reporting fairly on climate change or Donald Trump or the Israeli-Arab conflict.

Hard to evaluate just how much damage the ‘Extinction’ bods have done to their cause. Normal folks will carry on mostly driven by economics as ever was.
My abiding memory will be of a pink PLASTIC boat towed by a big, dirty truck and the magical Emma Thompson flying 6,000 miles to keep up her public profile.

Extinction Misery Makers inc. will cost bystanders money through green taxes, banning diesel/petrol, flight rationing and the rest.
Their cause was promoted this week with a ‘National Treasure’ fronted TV special. The State broadcaster loves to campaign whether it’s in support of a homecoming fighter (for the other side) or a three year slog helping to overturn a referendum result.

.. and now his fans like Biil Bragg justifying that
..’oh he was a prisoner of that era’
Oh then Woodie got a letter from a “negro” and apologised and said he wouldn’t use the term again.

A London thing – half term – forgotten in a week or when the weather turns iffy again . I pity the poor devil who has to sit next to Emma Thompson on her way back to LaLa Land . I wonder if she’s American now – she could have been denied entry to UK as’a threat to public order ‘ like so many others ….

I don’t know if the MSM will cover it but the declaration that the Derbyshire Tory Party won’t campaign for Tory MEPs can only be good news. As one who favours the oblivion of the red Tory party and its’ replacement by a proper right wing ‘ grouping ‘ it will be great to see their party fracturing ….
And all that greasy pole nonsense about Gove BoJo Rudd and the other used tissues will count for nothing – they can join the old boy dancing for the Liberals

Watching Mastermind, I couldn’t help but notice how hideously white all the contestants were. And always had been. As well as the audience. Never seen so many white faces in one place.
Thinking about it, so was University Challenge. And Only Connect. And most of the more intellectual gameshows.
Could it be – gasp! – that the bbc is… RACIST?

The shows you mention are highly discriminatory.
All of the questions are given in English.
Which, based on our local council’s multi-language election literature, must disenfranchise quite a large proportion of potential contestants and audience!

So: racist AND xenophobic, possibly islamophobic (I’ve never seen a single burka).

A journalist has been killed by a shooting in Northern Ireland.
This cannot be condoned.
But it turns out that she was gay, an LGBT rights campaigner, with a lesbian partner.
I mention this because the BBC 10 pm news made more references to her sexuality than the issues around the violence that resulted in her death.
One almost felt a certain delight in the reporting that an excuse to promote the gay agenda has been created.
I wonder if an equivalent treatment would have been given if the victim had been a straight man ? Such as, would his sexuality have even been mentioned? I very much doubt it.
My condolences to the family of the victim.

Apparently the Scottish police are looking for a man with a “tanned complexion” in this murder:
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-east-fife-47991112
Is this the BBC or the police being particularly obtuse for the sake of being PC Pc’s. Who will they be looking for? Some bloke just back from his sunny beach hols? A swarthy Latino or maybe an Indonesian? If the wanted man was a guy with red hair and Celtic tats, would they not say?

With a description like tanned complexion, the Sottish police are going to end up arresting a lot of men from Cheshire with the chief suspect being David Dickinson from the Real Deal and Bargain Hunt.

gb,
“We don’t do white people we only do tanned people” was the explanation given by a local police officer in Iran.

Actually, given the reluctance of the authorities (and media) in Scotland to acknowledge that Celtic fans do anything wrong it’s highly unlikely that Police Scotland would have put out anything other than the loosest description of said red haired chap with Celtic tats, and certainly nothing that would identify him as being a supporter of that shower.

The curlew is under threat. Population down by 99% in Ireland. Why? One cause is the plowing up of meadows, I assume in order to be able to grow arable (vegan) crops. One solution from the nice lady seeking to save the curlew? Give up on eating meat and dairy foods ie. be vegan. Questions not asked by Simon Jack, temporary presenter for the day: “Will that not result in more meadows being ploughed to grow more arable crops?” and “Are not dairy cattle grazed in meadows which is a great habitat for curlews?”
Doh!

Did they mention the growing demand for curlew pasties in Dublin?

Yours and mine favourite BBC Breakfast presenter, Naga, is trying to make out this Easter weekend is going to be HOT, and perhaps a few records broken.
Then on comes the weatherman to tell us we’re not going to quite reach the record temp set in 1949 of 29c. So his words were ‘not quite’, so is it going to be 28.5c, 28c, or even 27.5c. No, he tells us London (that great big urban heat island) is going to reach 25c.
Since when is a massive 4c difference ‘not quite breaking a record’. It misses by a country mile – and talking of the countryside, here areas will be a couple of centigrade lower still. BBC? Agenda?

I posted it on here a few days ago. Ahmed ‘left’ the Labour party some time after the allegations surfaced, so the BBC won’t be damaging the party they love by covering it.
There were enough calls for Sir Philip Green to lose his knighthood, surely child rape would be enough to remove a sitting peer from the upper house with the damage to their lordships reputations.
