Start the Week Open Thread 6 May 2019

We could witness The Sell Out this week or a General Election date or can kicking again  . But even after the Local Elections there has been no change in bias from the Far Left  Remainer Failing BBC.

The life of a prospective MEP has been threatened . The police are involved . Let’s hope the Main Stream Media supports anyone using the legal democratic process to carry forward their view as opposed to the mob..

Tashaun was, apparently , a promising musician . It doesn’t say if Romaine is a promising footballer -but many are …

      Thoughtful,

From your link I note the BBC made an excessively-polite statement which nevertheless held a finger up to the BDS movement:

In response, the BBC underlined its commitment to airing the event: “The Eurovision song contest is not a political event and does not endorse any political message or campaign. The competition has always supported the values of friendship, inclusion, tolerance and diversity and we do not believe it would be appropriate to use the BBC’s participation for political reasons. Because of this we will be taking part in this year’s event. The host country is determined by the rules of the competition, not the BBC.”

Praise where it’s due, I guess.

Always good to see artists brushing aside the hateful bigotry of the BDS left.

Almost makes me forgive Madonna for wanting to blow up the White House.

Bold and upright artists like Paul McCartney, Art Garfunkel and the late Leonard Cohen also performed in Israel recently.

Paul Simon played in Israel at some stage in the seventies, I believe. Dunno if he’s been back since. The guy is a superb poet/musician of course, but he’s as left wing as can be and so probably supports the Palestinians.

      • john in cheshire says:

True too, Paul Simon went to South Africa in the early ’80s. I was there at the time but didn’t go to watch him. He was heavily criticised but he’s got a big enough following that he can essentially ignore the lefty troublemakers. He’s one of my favourite singers, as is Leonard Cohen ( now sadly demised ).

As you say, they’re all lefties and I probably have nothing in common with them but as the saying goes, the devil has all the best tunes.

BBC are reporting the coldest May Bank Holiday since the inception of the holiday.
Strangely they are not reporting this as being due to climate change, and no mention of global cooling and the like. It appears to be due to ‘the weather’.
Yet if we had had a record high temperature, hands up who thinks they would have also merely put that down to ‘the weather’, and now hands up those who think the words ‘global warming’ would miraculously have appeared in the story, probably with an extra report from Roger Harrabin?
    Yep, me too.

… Now he’s been down the betting shop and won £58K
.. That’s the dream sold ..it will be all over the refugee grapevine that the UK is a place of free money.

It reminds me of the bBBC ‘news’ when the South African terrorist died. All other news was relegated in importance so that loads of people could be heard emoting how they felt. Even the local news apparently means asking people in the northwest how they feel.

I wish I’d read your post before I started listening to this smouldering heap of horse dung. Christ, it was irritating.
I thought, naively, that this might be an interesting look at the rather enigmatic Jane Austen. Sadly I was mistaken. It was a vehicle to allow some pretentious left wing feminist the opportunity to vent her spleen about the patriarchy and sexism. I find Matthew Parris a pain at the best of time, but today he really got on my thrupenny bits. He’s there to delve into the subject matter, not offer us a course on feminist propaganda.
I managed 10 minutes and in that time all we’d heard about was how this poor woman (Perez) had been abused and traduced….by men! Nobody cares love. Get over yourself!
I wanted to hear something about Jane Austen. I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in either Parris or Criado-Perez.

The BBC must employ idiots to look at research ( or they don’t want their social media output to be investigated) – headline promoted throughout today – that Social media has little to no impact of teenage well being (paraphrased).
I have read the paper and it did not look at social media – and was in fact a relatively unhelpful piece of work. The only negative associated hypothesis was in fact screen time and well being – which got buried.
I think given the hysteria with which the BBC pushed the anti vaccine people that they might at least be careful with dismissing the current views that Social media is impacting teenagers by mis- using a study . I have asked for a retraction of their headline and admission of factual error. Don’t hold your breath – it just beggars belief that they don’t have anyone who can read a study..

According to the BBC this morning it is a ‘momentous event’….a African American baby in the royal family that is….never before seen…except of course, as usual with BBC ‘history’ it lacks those inconvenient things called facts….such as we’ve already had a ‘black’ queen….

Actually, Meghan Markle Isn’t The First Black Royal Family Member

‘I know, right?! A black woman in the royal family in the 1700s?! History nerds, prepare yourselves. Turns out that, while many Englanders were in denial at the time, the wife of King George III, who was Queen from 1761 until her death in 1818, was of mixed race. According to PBS, Charlotte was “directly descended from Margarita de Castro y Sousa, a black branch of the Portuguese Royal House.” So not of unsavoury mixed-race origins, but actual black royalty. Her race mostly went under the radar over the course of history until, decades later, art historians began to take a closer look at the distinctly black features in her portraits. Her regal nose, those full lips; as a mixed girl myself who can often spot a person with even a small amount of Black ancestry from a mile away, it’s pretty blatant just from looking at her painting.’

Even the Washngton Post is there…

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/retropolis/wp/2017/11/27/britains-black-queen-will-meghan-markle-really-be-the-first-mixed-race-royal/?utm_term=.b31416b34849

Curious how the BBC makes such a fuss about this when most people don’t care either way…they’ve been inter-marrying and producing children for decades in this country…just the BBC hasn’t noticed and still thinks we’re all nasty, racist, leave supporting, ignorant skinheads.

Anyone know what a ‘confirmatory vote’ is? Is it anything like a ‘peoples’ vote’ or maybe even a ‘second referendum’?

Funny how quick the BBC are to adopt the chosen terms used by Remain to cover up their treachery and betrayal.

They even use the term when it is completely out of context but gives the game away…it is a second referendum. Barnett was asking if we should have a ‘confirmatory vote’ if MP’s can’t get the job done and sort out a deal….so…how can you ‘confirm’ that if there is no deal to confirm? Thus any vote is in reality one rigged to stop Brexit.

Don’t see the logic at all there….and if the MPs can’t get the job done how is a second referendum the answer when the ‘job’ was carrying out the direction given by the actual, real referendum?

The BBC is pushing and pushing for a second referendum at every turn.

Funnily enough they never, ever raise the issue that is at the heart of this…why those MPs don’t get the job done….it’s because they are hardline Remain MPs blocking Brexit. The BBC just doesn’t entertain that narrative, the real narrative…they continue to push the lie that it is all the ERG’s fault and indeed today Barnett had on Tory Daniel Kawczynski oozing poison as he called Nigel Farage a ‘snake oil salesman’ and blamed the failure to get a deal on ‘hardline MPs’…not him of course, he’s a ‘moderate’….no objection whatsoever from Barnett naturally. Daniel Kawczynski’s one of those pushing the lie about ‘compromise’, along with wet Rory Stewart….compromise meaning staying in the EU…it’s the Brexiteers who must compromise apparently not the extremist Remainers whose intransigent betrayal has slammed the brakes on and done so much damage.

Radio 4 news – Lord Adonis (aka self important to the extreme)’ Apparently Nigel Farage and Brexit are populist far right and the BBC have given them far too much air time…He must have a different BBC.
I sensed a desperate attempt to knock Brexit party – smelt of fear..

But as ever – it is followed by a Female Guardian writer on the sexist aggressive behaviours of male swimmers.. oh you ladies are so lovely never cause any issues – well ask my friend who is a pool life guard…
When will it all stop…these women who look to find something wrong and only see male behaviour…

James – let’s face it – the only people who listen to Andy Adonis is the BBC and those who use their tarnished biased product .

Mr Adonis was a ‘ journo’ , was elected to be a councillor in Cambridge ? And presumably hitbthe sweet spot with Blair brown and got himself a spot in the so called “ upper house “ .

I will never refer to any one by “ Lord” again –
Their tenuous justification for existing was destroyed by brexit and now they have no legitimacy – just like the lower house of traitors .

At least Mr Farage has elected office and a political party – as well as the ability to challenge the entire swamp dwelling establishment and win .

Mr Farage fought for decades to get the British People a voice . It’s not his fault the likes of traitors like Adonis are taking that voice away .

For the record – I’m not and never have been signed up to any Party or political organisation .

That sounds interesting – where can the rest of us find this different BBC? I might be prepared to pay for that.
P.S. BBC/Adonis…any politician who isn’t a populist shouldn’t be in politics at all.

I agree and disagree – the problem with the green people is that they are so busy looking at nature that they forget about ‘human nature ‘ .
I suppose some of the green people live what they say but is anyone really going to ‘give up’ their ‘life style ‘ for notional benefit of the planet ? When the Chinese are opening a coal powered power station like it’s going out of fashion ?

      Fed,

I have always said it and will not change my mind: one day the UK will return to coal for its basic needs.

It won’t be in my lifetime though; unless this new app of mine which tells me the day and time of my death is a fake?

Keeping coal and fracking gas in the ground is our ‘strategic reserve ‘ and in my view should only be used when really needed – eg oil hitting $150 a barrel plus…

The Greens have managed to conflate good husbandry of the planet (which no one is against I imagine )with climate change. They don’t seem to have to answer any hard questions (even if they were asked them) . All they need is a latter day creepy Joan of Arc figure emoting unchallenged all over the place coupled with frightened brainwashed kiddies and an avuncular figure who can dress up propaganda as entertainment. and it seems that is job done. Bad news for the rest of us , as we are not going to give up our’ lifestyle ‘it is gonna be removed .

Can you imagine that a political party is trying to change its own rules in order to get rid of its own leader / PM . Could that be made up ?

The BBC is always going on about advancing Wimmin in politics . Yet when the PM is female and had no integrity , honour or understanding of how much brexit voters hate her and her party ( I’ll say that again – hate her and her party ) for selling out democracy – the next time the BBC goes on about Wimmin in politics – use Mrs May as The Case Study in how to dishonour her office – even more than Blair did .

      Swelter,

As I understand it the greens are more interested in the following which was on their manifesto this year if its been changed I doubt it.

      1) religious instruction in schools will banned.

2)church schools will be stripped of taxpayers money.

3)trade & cultivation of cannabis will be de-crimalised.

      4) assidted dying will be legalised.

      5)monarchy abolished.

      6) the military eventually abolished.

      7) shooting banned.

      etc etc.

The above is what the greens want in place if they gain some kind of bit-power in the elections.

The arrogant dismissal of, uncontrolled immigration (‘……. brings richness, just look at London’) err what about the trees and land sacrificed for homes – ‘oh you’re mixing up two things’, what ??? Two things, sanity and insanity maybe?
Of Brexit, ‘oh we’ll stop that – everyone’s given up on it’.

Looks like it’s confirmed that we are participating in EU elections. An interesting letter in today’s Telegraph with the idea that we don’t need another referendum because the EU election will act like one for us. Those who wish to Leave on WTO terms will vote Brexit or Ukip, etc, those who are willing to accept Theresa May’s Con/Lab fudge will vote Labour or Conservative and those who want to Remain will vote Liberal. Interesting letter I thought anyway, if I’ve got it right.

Nah – if there’s less than 17 million voting for ‘leavers’ then the BBC will use the ‘ liberal ‘ lie of a vote to remain …

Even after the ReichEU elections remainers will claim the high ground .tell every one – vote -please .

A little oligarchy, contemptuous of ordinary people.
Hijacked the referendum result: Contempt for Democracy.
Live it up big. They are the ‘special ones’. Contempt for taxpayers, who keep them afloat.
They have nothing but contempt for the voters (except for election time, when they pretend….)
They are the forces of darkness, much pampered by the media, who leech off them, and are also contemptuous (at least some are) of readers and viewers.
There was a reason why Satan could offer Christ The World, in the three temptations. He offered what belonged to him! Think about that.
Members of parliament. They disgust me. There are honourable exceptions.

Having been away visiting relatives recently, I had a dose of actual TV. It was so nice to get a rest away from Radio 4 and my relatives were watching mostly the snooker world championship which was fine by me. One of them crassly remarked that they didn’t want a ‘Trump’ winning!

Just before I left, I caught some of the Jeremy Vine prog on Channel 5. They were discussing whether it was ok to throw milkshakes over people. It was depressing to witness the hive mind anti Tommy comments. Boo Hiss, brexit brexit, far right, boo hiss.
