Midweek Thread 15 January 2020

The biased BBC is going through the motions of box ticking on Operation Augusta – the failed inquiry by Greater Manchester Police into the sexual exploitation of young girls by Pakistani Muslim Paedophile Rape gangs .The report will be forgotten in a day , lessons won’t be learnt even after a report on it. The fear is that in forgotten towns in Britain vile sexual crime against young girls is still going on with both police and so called social services looking away with the Main Stream Media (BBC) complicit in failing to confront it. But let’s spend more media time talking about an American actress who married an English Prince .

R5 Nihal Arthanayake has the actor Laurence Fox on.

Naturally conversation gravitates towards racism. Laurence thinks overall we’re a tolerant country. He doesn’t know any racist people, of any colour. Nihal’s rehearsed this setup countlessly over the years with his media and BAME chums and springs into action: “Ah… I don’t know any murderers, but I know that they exist.”

Well the murder rate in the UK (according to the ONS) is 12.4 per million. That’s 0.00124%. Now imagine a state broadcaster that continually talks about murderers, hosts innumerable phone-ins on what can be done about murder, calls for more and more education to stop you murdering, and then — having achieved great success — pushes the line that we’re all secretly guilty of unconscious murder.

Like a dog without a bone Nihal doesn’t give up: “do you ever look at your blind spots…?” Because he just can’t bear to let a white man leave the studio thinking that as a country, we’re just not really racist.

Its always a sad state of affairs when Dad and Daughter are at loggerheads, and there were times when my Dad embarrassed me to the core, but it didn’t stop me from loving him or put me on non speaking terms with him.

Reports in the press say that Harry ‘admonished’ Thomas Markle in a phone call for ‘bringing hurt to his daughter’ at the time of the wedding. Jeez what bloody cheek ! first, he never even met the chap face to face, and second, he barely knew his fiancée so he should have kept his nose out of it, as he clearly had only one side (hers) of the story. Never a good idea in family disputes.

Personally I hope the Mail on Sunday with Thomas Markle’s help, wipe the floor with this pair, they need to realise they cant go around the world dictating their own agenda – with the help of wealthy friends and hangers on.

Liberal Democrat Lord: Britain Will Be Like Nazi Germany After Leaving EU

In the latest example of fearmongering from the EU loyalist Liberal Democrats, Lord Tony Greaves, Baron of Pendle, used a debate on Boris Johnson’s
Brexit withdrawal bill in the House of Lords to proclaim that the United Kingdom in 2020 is “reminiscent” of Nazi Germany in the 1930s.

The Liberal Democrat peer later insisted that he was not comparing the United Kingdom to Nazi Germany but rather to the Weimar Republic, which ended in 1933.
“What I am saying is that some of the conditions which exist in this country are similar to conditions which existed in Germany between the wars, before the Nazis came to power and took over,” said Lord Greaves, as if this would be substantially less hyperbolic.

“I am worried about this because there is that sentiment amongst a hostile minority of the population.”

[The hostile minority is in parliament and their hostility is towards white people, especially men. Not, to my knowledge, reported by the BBC .]

He must mean that we are reversing what happened in 1934.

In 1934, they went from rule by a German who believed in his selfless service to Germany, to an Austrian who wanted to Unite Europe.

In 2020, we go from a United Europe ruled by a German, to rule by a Briton who believes in his selfless service to Great Britain.

1934 to 2020 was an aberration that caused a World War and campaigns and protest for freedom and the return of democracy to Europe.

Attenborough warns of climate ‘crisis moment’

    Story detail

When it comes to climate change, “we’re refusing to take steps that we know have to be taken”. That’s the damning verdict of naturalist Sir David Attenborough, who declares “the moment of crisis has come”, in a BBC News interview to launch a year of special coverage on the subject of climate change. The Our Planet Matters project – across digital, TV and radio – includes a new monthly Climate Check podcast from BBC Weather, and coverage of debates and events around the globe.

As part of it, Sir David plans a new hour-long documentary – Extinction: The Facts – to examine the fragile state of the natural world. On Radio 4’s PM programme, Rianna Croxford will look at how we can respond to the climate crisis at home by examining the environmental impact of individual household items. And our coverage goes back to basics, with global science correspondent Rebecca Morelle explaining what we mean when we talk about climate change. We have also produced seven charts to help you visualise the problem and understand how aspects such as the places we live and the food we eat affect the situation.

Read all about Our Planet Matters and, if you’re baffled by any climate-related terms, try our translation tool.

A ‘translation tool’ of science into BBC ‘settled science’ sounds a hoot.

Plus a raft of female Rs to help ‘guide’ us sounds… too bbc to credit.

Can’t help but notice the BBC banging on and on about climate change.

I check BBC on-line for the national newspaper front pages but find myself assailed by David Attenborough’s dire warnings of impending apocalypse unless we do… well, something like pressure our politicians (of the more conservative persuasian) to do something like…. well, there it gets a bit vague and suspiciously amorphous.

But it pretty much amounts to Global Government, severe restrictions on us plebs’ lifestyles, more taxes, transfers of cash to the third world – and that type of thing.

Anyway, Mr AsISeeIt has less to post about these days since he happily absorbs much less BBC. Already hounded off the once stimulating Radio 4 by a battalion of self-interested male-hating harpies spouting leftist tosh he sought refuge in sport on 5 Live. Oh dear. Leftist politics gradually enveloped the sport.

Annoyed by the BBC’s obvious pro-Brussels stance and unwilling to continue funding the likes of Carrie Gracie Mr AsISeeIt at last cancelled his TV Tax and now hopes in the final act the beast might wither on the Jeremy Vine plagued as it is with the likes of Samira Ahmed.

\\ Sir D Attenborough is warning us we are at a moment of crisis when it comes to Climate Change, but there is still time to do something about it, but we have put off tackling it for too long.
“As I speak, south east Australia is on fire.
Why? …pause ..Because the temperatures of the Earth are increasing,”
To say this is nothing do with Climate is palpably nonsense” //

Baroness Brown of Cambridge is the deputy chair of Committee On Climate Change *
She says focusing on tackling the issues can create opportunities like in the Humber region
“more birds for our children** to see and learn to recognise
making sure the wildflowers are still there for them, that is about hope
but actually so is the *new jobs* that will created, by the offshore wind industry that are being created you know in coastal areas like Hull & Grimsby where they desperately need the economic uplift that some of these zero carbon industries are going to bring for us.”
      //

..”zero Carbon industry”… It isn’t zero CO2 is it ?
The construction and maintenance create a mountain of CO2.

Lack of resources? Would that be a shortage of Urdu-speaking officers to question the suspects? Or a lack of resources due to them being allocated to monitoring Twitter accounts, recording Thought Crime, co-ordinating LGBTP policy with the likes of Stonewall and Mermaids, or generally pestering innocent motorists?

It’s more likely for investigations to have been abandoned because there are too many urdu speaking police officers, not too few.

Like or loathe The Sun, it has a powerful voice and represents millions of readers. But the BBC prefer the Guardian with it’s readership of about 38 and all 38 in the BBC canteen.

To suggest that the Guardian has a readership of 38 is a vile and totally unsubstantiated calumny. At the last count it was at least 40.

Beltane… the figure of 38 readers is correct. However, one of them actually buys three copies: one for the upstairs toilet, one for the downstairs toilet, and one for the outside toilet used by the live-in maid imported from overseas.

Only partially true Ian. In another cost cutting exercise the ink drying process has been reduced to a maximum of 3 seconds per page/copy. As a result the prime function you correctly define above has been badly affected and out-dated unsold copies, less inclined to leave ink traces behind, are now preferred.
Looking on the positive side, such copies are plentiful – although only available on collection, distribution costs also having had a detrimental effect on overall sales.

3/3 Where can we find hope as we come to terms with the climate crisis?>/i>
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000d8s5

In this final episode, he finds sources of hope for the future.

There are no solutions to the climate crisis in this programme. But by opening up different ways of relating to other humans, and non-humans, might we then find it easier to act?
Tim spends time in a cat cafe and a nightclub, and listens to a children’s story, the worldview of the Lakota people and a hacked nature documentary, as well as the voices of young people engaged in climate protests.
The aim? To liberate humans from the ‘patriarchal, hierarchical, heteronormative possibility space’, and to relearn our connectedness to everything on the planet.

ie an admission that his crusade is not really about Global Warming

My Climate Change idea for the BBC (and all the other broadcasters).

Lets have a return to the frugal 1950 -60’s

All TV programmes to start at 6pm each day and finish with the National Anthem at say 11.pm with only one news program at say 6pm.

Just think about the power saved with all those TV’s not running, people going to bed early etc and the BBC workforce could be cut by 85% saving miles on taxi and plane trips etc.

They could also dispense with all those old has-been celebrities who jabber on on all day about such things as buying houses at auction – emigrating to New Zealand – travel scams – etc. such as Rip off Britain which seems to be just a BBC pension for 3 old ex-BBC girls!

      @TinyCO2 comments
      https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/01/15/bbc-will-shift-spending-shows-reflect-lives-passions-young-people/

BBC is (yet again) making the M&S mistake of kicking its existing audience in the teeth and chasing the youth market, because it fears that they won’t pay the license fee.
I’ve got news for them, no matter how much the BBC spends on pre generation X, they still won’t pay the TV license and not only that, the rest of us are moving in the same direction.

Apparently ‘Sources insisted that existing shows enjoyed by an older demographic, such as Call the Midwife, Death in Paradise, Last Tango in Paradise and Antiques Roadshow, will continue.
But older viewers are unlikely to see new programmes commissioned with them in mind.
An insider said that they will be served by shows with broad appeal across the generations such as His Dark Materials and Killing Eve.’
… wasn’t the original BBC remit to produce progs with broad appeal?
I invariably find that programmes for specific generations are patronising and formulaic.
As if the BBC knows what anyone wants to watch. They’re in their own bubble.

I’ve started collecting my favourite old series because eventually they won’t be available without paying. I am surprised at how small the collection is.

And what has happended to M & S as a result of following that ‘youth route’ ? Has it pulled more youth through the doors ? No it has not, rather it has and is alienating its main customer base ( 45-80). My wife used to buy much from M & S, now its only the undwear that attracts-still good quality-dresses and skirts she says are often badly finished and too expensive comparatively. And as you point out StewGreen, the BBC has mis-culculated its audiance-utter rubbish sweeps across the screen, and again like many we record most of what we like which isn’t much. Back to reading books and sewing socks for the funny folks walking across the Poles!

I went into my local M&S a few months back to buy some clothing. All of the posters in the menswear section featured black models – all of them, not one exception. Having recovered from the momentary perception of thinking I had somehow been transported to a branch in Nigeria or Jamaica, I quickly realised that they were simply informing me that they did not want my custom. I have not been back since, nor have several people I have told this to. For the record, the last census in the area stated that 4.6% of the population were of a black background. By that statistic, around 1 in 20 of their photographed models could fairly be expected to be black.

Ian-The advertising agencies must have a commercial
reason for this kind of advertising. I would love to

I am sure many of others on this website do.
Until recently Barclays were advertising on their home page
a blonde pregnant Caucasian lady , with her black partner
or husband or just a friend with his arms around her pregnant
tummy. I know what most of you are saying ,”so what, nearly
every advert has couples of mixed races.” But no , the Barclays
picture has just changed to just a black couple. Maybe the days
of Caucasian models are over? I reiterate there must be
somebody out there who can explain it to me?

You know it, I know it, everyone knows it. The story is made up virtue signalling. And of the infinitesimally small number of people who actually do “pledge”, very few will keep that promise.
And aside from that, “Lots”? How many is lots? And is it just me or does that whole headline sound like it was written by someone with a 10 year old’s grasp of grammar and composition?
