First time I have watched one of these pressers. What a bunch of low-lifes. Switched off. They only need one to question as the rest all repeat with slight variations on a theme. Point scoring self centred prats the lot of them.

A perfect opportunity to give these r sole lefty journalists a piece of much of the nation’s mind ……and they bottle it !!!!

Should have asked President Trump to do the briefing.

What a let down . What a wet lettuce. What a chance gone .

Basically, what a f in shambles.

Boris needs to wake the hell up and stand his bloody corner.

Doob – I think decided that this wouldn’t be the time to attack . This was the time to do the narrative and try to answer the questions

I’m glad the condition of mr Cummings ‘ son has been skirted around and not raised . If mr Cummings has raised it – it would have been a free fire zone .

The inquisition ended after 65 minutes – the jury has been invited to have their tea and return with a verdict – which – according to the MSM can only be ‘guilty ‘ – hang him and his family – they’ve got a farm ….

I’m waiting for the government briefing – which was due at 1700 Monday evening . I’ve seen them all as I am eager to get my life back .
Instead I’m watching a bloke sitting at a table in a garden talking about a trip to and from Durham .

I kind of reminds me of those McCarthy hearings or one of those congressional committees going after someone .

It is 1717 – the inquisition has been going for 46 minutes . Is this some kind of covid caused mental breakdown ?

Seen your comment -Cromwell – It is like a nazi trial – all they want to do is get the piano wire out , hang him on a meat hook and film it so that the collective media can broadcast it as A Newsnight special .

I can’t see this insanity ending – even with number of poor souls suffering and dying gladly falling .

Do you know when you watch the tv and wonder what you are watching ? That was one of them ….

Why do I get the impression that the media are asking the questions they had ready early this afternoon irrespective of whatever Cummings said?

“Don’t you understand that many people will be feeling angry …?”

Well, perhaps many of them will have changed their minds now that Dom has explained the circumstances.

A certain Prof. Reicher on R4’s ‘PM’ show. He claimed that nobody understood the new message when Boris Johnson switched to the “Stay Alert, …” campaign from the “Stay at home, Protect the NHS, Save Lives.”

No challenge from the female presenter (Ms Quinn?) How can he claim that nobody understood the new guidance? Does he credit the public with no common sense? Of course the new situation is more complex than the simpler “Stay at home” – that’s the hard part of moving out of the lock-down, whoever is in power.

    • fakenewswatcher says:

Mustapha- I didn’t listen to R4, but if the Quinn woman is the one who presents the Labour love-in called ‘The Westminster Hour’ on a Sunday night, I’m not surprised.
Yesterday the show was equally Labour naval-gazing, this time presented by Jo Cockburn. Unashamedly partisan, this programme, even for R4.
You can hear them both starting off slightly ‘impartial’, then slipping into an unspoken ‘we’/’us’ when discussing Labour, and how it’s doing, and what it should do…blah, blah…

Followed by a metro kidult who sounds like he was peeing in the toilet . Naturally the kidult wants more – I reckon he wants his blood and perhaps – looking at him – other bodily fluids.

1802 and no government briefing yet –

The holy sanctuary of the 6pm news has now been moved . If China has launched a nuclear attack on the 7th fleet in the South China Sea – it doesn’t matter .

Lisa Mackenzie – a tattooed ‘ lecturer ‘ formerly of the LSE but now at Durham follows up – surprisingly she says the media are making too much of it compared to the need of the working class-
I don’t think we’ll see her on the BBC any time soon ….. ouch – blimey the BBC drone couldn’t cut her off quick enough .m

In the circumstance – as site moderator – I’m going to report what the BBC news channel is putting out .

Can’t blame you if you chose to scrol on from what I write below …

The beeb narrative continues apace, even after the event (surprise!) Endless streams of Lefties follow a brief look at mildly consrvative opinion.
Just looking at some woman attacking Cummings for being arrogant by taking up so much time in a press conference. Well, that’s exactly what her ilk has been howling for for days on end. He can’t win. But then, that’s not the point; the real target remains BoJo and his ‘judgement’.
Is there an honest journalist around, who will admit that that’s the scalp they really want. With the courage to come out and confess it’s not about Cummings, Durham, Coronavirus, etc? Poor old Surkeer will have to wait a little longer for glory.
Now we know what the Salem witch trials must have been like. Equally hypocritical ‘judges’?
Still, we’re all certain to forget about travellers in small boats, coming from France. Nigel, who might have broached that topic, has vanished entirely from the beeb screens. They don’t want to know his opinion, it might start sounding genuinly conservative. Not for beeb. As for Gerard Batten, was he ever on them? Presumably neither represent the British people.

Astounding isn’t it….from Guido….this is a Guardian photographer who goes to Cummings’ home [and can’t spell his name…Guardian journalism eh!] and scrawls abusive message on the road outside…as the Guardian encourages left-wing activists to hound Cummings and his family.

Will a police officer threaten her with arrest as the shop keeper who put chalk lines outside her shop for social distancing was?

Even a BBC man expresses his contempt for this…..

Kuenssberg got the first questions at Cummings appearance…and totally wasted them…though perhaps she realised there were really no sensible questions to ask as Cummings had a perfectly reasonable and legal reason for his actions.

Kuenssberg wanted to know if he regretted his actions…clearly she didn’t listen to a word he had said….no. She then went down the moralistic finger wagging route with a completely wrong-headed question suggesting he had shown there was one rule for some and one rule for everyone else….and that he was using a loophole….when in fact he was applying the rules as written down…no loophole and able to be used by everyone…oh…Kuenssberg then wanted to know if he would apologise to all those people who didn’t have the ability or resources to do what he did….er what? He did something legal and rational but because someone else might not have been able to do the same he must apologise? Bizarre.

Kuenssberg running in fear of the twittermob….not doing journalism but channelling the lefty anger and frustration.

Well, that was toe-curlingly awful. As has been said, rather reminiscent of the McCarthy trials. It’s quite clear that it is not the sort of thing that Dominic Cummings is used to.

From my admittedly biased point of view I think his evident inexperience may have helped him. His answers weren’t your typical politician’s confident blustering, but rather came across as those of an ordinary guy trying his best, somewhat inarticulately, to honestly explain a situation to a clearly hostile audience.

The media did themselves no favours. They asked a variant of the same question over and over. They evidently hadn’t listened to the previous questions and answers and so were evidently not interested in them, but just in putting forward their own point of view. Plus ça change.

I’m not sure a lot of light was generated. There has been much reference on social media to the fact the child is autistic, but that was never touched upon. Perhaps it had been made clear that was out of bounds, and even our foetid media would know that was crossing a line. To those who bothered to listen, it seems inarguable that it was a situation where the regulations allowed for discretion, and the best line was when Dominic said he had made his decisions on the basis of what would cause the least risk to the least number of people. That is what it boils down to. But those out for his blood won’t care.

Will it be enough? I think, unless he’s found to have been telling porkies, it should be. The media will huff and puff but have nowhere else to go. And so will turn to the next target. But if there have been lies, they will be discovered. And then he is toast.

Before Cummings gave his side of the argument, Adam Boulton assured the poor sods who pay their Sky subscriptions, that the only possible reason for a delay in the event starting was that the government were in free fall.

Then we had to suffer Beth Rigby, who inexplicably hadn’t heard a word Cummings said pompously asserted he should resign. As Sky, along with the BBC, Guardian and Daily Mirror were proved wrong in their allegations perhaps it they who should resign.

    • Peter Grimes says:

Before Cummings’ statement Fatty Boulton and his mate Jon Something or other were practically creaming themselves about the prospect of getting Cummings sacked and taking a big bite out of BoJo. Afterwards Fatty had a Guardian writer, Stephen Bush, and Darren Grimes, the guy who was cleared by the police after having been wrongly fined by the extreme far Left Electoral Commission. Fatty introduced him as, iirc, a ‘former colleague’ of Cummings. Grimes tried to put him right but Fatty talked over him. How uninformed and pig-ignorant do you have to be to earn £100k’s like Fatty?

After, he asked Mad Al Campbell, the man who, with the war criminal Blair has arguably been partly liable for the outbreak of violence, murder and terrorism both in the ME and the rest of the world, what he thought of Cummings’ statement and responses to questions. Campbell, the arch liar, quite brazenly described BoJo as a liar and a charlatan without Fatty pointing out Campbell’s previous.

      I’m not a bit surprised!

    Shall we guess:
-who is going to be asking the questions afterwards, and
-what those questions are going to be about.
    I would venture this opinion:
-it won’t be about the sad state of the British economy, the death of thousands of small and large businesses, the wild Sunak spending spree and where the money will come from to pay for all this, or
-the activity or otherwise of the Border Farce
-what’s going on with Brexit (remember Brexit?)

Why do I feel, having seen the TV coverage of the mobbing and downright threatening behaviour of the press and media outside of Dominic Cummings’ house over the past 36 hours, that claims by the media that he should have called the police if he or his family felt under threat at any time over the past weeks, rather than seeking to isolate his family from such abuse, ring just a bit hollow.

And, why, given all the evidence clearly in front of their eyes, have the police allowed such hatred, and threatening behaviour directed, not least (since the press knew that Dominic Cummings was not personally at home), at his wife and 4-year old child, to continue.

Couldn’t be political prejudice, could it ?

richard – I wonder whether the ‘Antifa’ – the violent German (high-profile) shock troops, who rampage and target people and property on behalf of the “Christian Democrat”/Socialist Alliance, have set up a branch in Britain?
The police ignoring their behaviour, or even tacitly approving of it/joining in (oh yes, I kid you not) is a well-established pattern over there. A few days ago they smashed up an elderly man in Stuttgart, putting him into hospital, seriously injured. Merkel partner, the ‘conservative’ CSU (Bavarian) boss, Horst Seehofer had called for a ‘war on the Right’, and they promptly went out to do his bidding. Apparently the poor bloke was an innocent who got in their way.

I watched a few minutes of the debacle on YT before having to turn it off. It was patently a Kangaroo Court of sorts and you could only arrive at the conclusion that nothing DC said would alter the opinions of the jury.
One thing’s for sure: the levels of bitterness toward anything ‘Right’ show no sign of bottoming out. The ‘Left’ are daily showing signs of disregarding any law and, as we know, the ‘real’ law will turn a blind eye. Open warfare and conflict is well on its way heralding a complete breakdown in societal norms. Sooner the better in my view. It needs a ‘sort-out’ to be sure.

I don’t think that Dominic Cummings did a lot wrong.
Maybe somehow to have told Boris Johnson before he went.
And I know Boris was ill. AND secondly wasn’t he important enough

his family home if his eye sight was troubling him ?

“What exactly does this Cummings do”
He’s supposed to Get Brexit Done and Dusted . Its been dragging on for far too long now. The Libtard Meeja tried to scupper it by nailing Cummings . Boris should go on the offensive now and begin by exposing Al Beeb’s anti Brexit Bias and move to end the compulsory Telly Tax that robs from the poor to give to the rich.
I would be very surprised if the Meeja did not have a go at David Frost next because he appears to be doing a good job at the moment.

    From The Evening Standard:

‘Durham Constabularly’s statement said: “We can confirm that on April 1, an officer from Durham Constabulary spoke to the father of Dominic Cummings. Mr Cummings confirmed that his son, his son’s wife and child were present at the property. He told the officer that his son and son’s wife were displaying symptoms of coronavirus and were self-isolating in part of the property.

“We can further confirm that our officer gave no specific advice on coronavirus to any members of the family and that Durham Constabulary deemed that no further action was required in that regard.

“Our officer did, however, provide the family with advice on security issues.”’

The BBC, despite mentioning thebreaking news as we awaited Cummings entrance, seems to be now totally ignoring the inconvenient U-turn by Durham police as it admits that it did not advise the Cummings family on covid 19 rules and regs despite this being a claim by the Guardian and all subsequent reporting and other earlier police statements which were clearly misleading….ie false.

The Guardian’s scoop told us …..

‘Police spoke to Dominic Cummings about breaching the government’s lockdown rules after he was seen in Durham, 264 miles from his London home, despite having had symptoms of coronavirus, the Guardian can reveal.

Officers approached Boris Johnson’s key adviser days after he was seen rushing out of Downing Street when the prime minister tested positive for the virus at the end of March, a joint investigation by the Guardian and the Mirror has found. There are now calls for his resignation.
When asked if Cummings had been warned about breaching the lockdown, a spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: “On Tuesday, March 31, our officers were made aware of reports that an individual had travelled from London to Durham and was present at an address in the city.

“Officers made contact with the owners of that address who confirmed that the individual in question was present and was self-isolating in part of the house.

“In line with national policing guidance, officers explained to the family the guidelines around self-isolation and reiterated the appropriate advice around essential travel.”’

    The Guardian informs us that…

‘The disclosure that Cummings was spoken to by police raises potentially awkward questions for him and No 10.’

Trouble is that was a lie….as were so many of the Guardian ‘facts’…and if it was such an important disclosure by the police why has the BBC ignored the surprising retraction of it?

No-one reported Cummings to the police…they were called by his father who told them of the situation and they merely advised him on security matters. Cummings was not in his parents house but in a completely separate home on the farm. He was not sick when he travelled up and the parents did not look after the child as so many claim.

I look forward to the BBC’s fact checking service and fake news busting operation to move into top gear to take down the Guardian…I won’t be holding my breath….despite Andrew Neil giving a nod to the fact that the police have rewritten the evidence as he retweets this…

The BBC seems more concerned with drumming up fake and ill-informed outrage as it brings us ‘comparisons’ with Cummings actions…trouble is they’re not at all the same thing….

Dominic Cummings row: The families who stayed away in lockdown

One woman complains but paradoxically tells us she went out to get shopping for her mother which she dropped off at her house and clearly talked to her….she also went to a funeral.
Another is a grandmother who couldn’t look after her grandchildren when their parents became sick….but neither did Cummings’ parents.
Another says…‘”I couldn’t go to my uncle’s funeral because only a certain number of people could go,”‘….but some did go to the funeral…within the rules just as Cummings trip was within the rules…the fact this person missed the funeral has nothing to do with this case.

The BBC is trying to whip up massive public resentment and anger at Cummings, Boris and the government…this will all be dragged out again come the election….and it won’t be the true facs but the BBC/Guardian alternate facts….and curiously we haven’t heard anything about Kinnock going to meet his parents or any other Labour ‘sinners’…of which there have been plenty….whilst Starmer stays silent about them but tries to attack Boris.

    From The Telegraph:

‘It isn’t that long ago that Labour’s Stephen Kinnock drove hundreds of miles to see his elderly parents during lockdown or that one of Labour’s few remaining MPs in County Durham, Kevan Jones, attended a constituents’ birthday party. On both occasions, Keir Starmer of course did nothing.

This new approach smacks bad faith hyper partisanship – exactly the approach the new Labour Leader told the nation he would avoid. Truly gone is the brief window of constructive opposition.

Starmer’s statement yesterday highlighted the tragic cases of people across this country not able to be with their loved ones in their final moments, and of mourners unable to find the closure and shared consolation of funerals. Yet this was the same Keir Starmer who did nothing to reprimand Labour MP Tahir Ali who attended a funeral in his constituency as one of 100 mourners at the start of April. The point scoring partisan double standards over such sensitive matters leaves a truly bitter taste in the mouth.

What [of] those Labour MPs who darted about the country for reasons other than safeguarding children with particular needs.

Even viewed under the harshest lens, the case of Dominic Cummings is less than clear cut. MPs like Steve Baker who have called for Cummings to go have spoken about the “spirit” rather than the letter of the rules being broken. This far from the same category of those Labour MPs who actually broke lockdown.

Labour’s Health Secretary in Wales, Vaughn Gething, had a picnic with his family in a park at a time when the Welsh Government he sits in explicitly said “No picnics in the park.” There is no wriggle room there. Keir Starmer of course stayed silent.’

I was worried – in the inquisition – by the table . Mr Cummings passed the table test . The enemy would have a camera on his legs and feet to monitor physical reactions as opposed to verbal ones and get some media friendly ‘lefty expert ‘ to ‘interpret ‘ mr Cummings and show he was ‘lying ‘. Never happened ….

Ritula Shah rounds off the 10pm R4 news with a fair debate between two guests. Matthew D Ancona and someone from the Independent (which is anything but independent). There are TWO in this ‘debate’, so it’s going to be lively, right? If there’s someone from the Indy, the other guy will present the conservative case, right?
But hullo? Here’s an unexpected thing: both turn out to be anti-Cummings, and vehemently so. The laughable beeb manipulation of their narrative is as strong as ever. Now and then we catch a glimpse of the real issue: Boris. D Ancona assures us that he is not predicting that Surkeer will be PM in five years’ time, but that’s exactly what he’s putting out there, even as he speaks.
How stupid does beeb think we are?

i ask this as someone who is no particular fan of either Cummings or Boris, so I’m socially distanced enough to see what is going on. An anti-Tory campaign from the word ‘go’, dressed up as an issue with Cummings, who is really not very impressive, but was singled out for political reasons. To satisfy the sanctemoneous and the virtue signallers in the main?
