Do I think the civil service have been trying to undermine this government? Yes. From trying to arrange an extension to Brexit whilst Boris and Dom were laid up, to Priti being unable to do anything. I assume the leaks were authorised by Sir Mark, he may even be the one telling Cressida that policing BLM should be done with a soft touch (and I am sure she wouldn’t arguej). Knowing a civil servant in Cabinet Office who joined Labour as Jeremy was elected and have joined the BLM demos without it being a problem, I am sure under Sir Mark’s leadership there was a desire to undermine government. So pleased he is going but disappointed to read not until September. Wonder if agreeing to go and serve out 3 months notice is to allow more time to inflict more damage. He should be asked to pack his bags.

Exactly so. The disconnect between the what the voters wanted when they elected this government in December and what the civil service and liberal blob quangocrats will actually allow is huge and clear for all to see. Years of Blairite appointments has left a country were a non Blairite givernment is ham strung at every turn by unelected and largely unsackable officials . The Brexit resistance was a clear example of their power to stop the government from delivering the mandate given to it by the voters. But the liberal blob is powerful enough to prevent implementation of the government’s wishes right across the board.

But don’t you just instinctively know that was the right move. Based on just the array of negative comments and from those who make them. That alone saves research as to why it had to be done. For the busy person you understand.

Looking this over I come to the conclusion it is because Sedwill implacably opposed Bexit, which brought him into conflict with the single minded Cummings who unlike Boris the Bottler does have the backbone to do the things he needs to do to realise his vision.

The cowardly Boris would never have dared opposed the head of the civil service.

It’s all about Brexit and very little else, even though Sedwills views are unquestionably left wing liberal in nature.

If Pres Trump loses the election in 4 months, the Democrats will simply tell Britain to get lost ( Obama policy). We will then have 2 months to organise a new referendum, and then apply to re-join the EU.

Also Climate Change agenda will be back in full swing, with control of energy, and reparations to Africa – which was always the goal from the beginning.

        Black Lives Matter.

Radio 4 has a new project on its shows , called Rethink .

This is what needs to change after the Covid crisis .
Plus what changes are needed after the George Floyd death and BLM .

That’s things HAVE to change , because the BBC says so .
Not should things change , do you want things to change ?
Should we have a lot of change , or just a little ?

No no , here’s a unique opportunity for the BBC and liberal / left to change things to their way , the globalist way . No way would we be allowed to change things back to the way they were before the Gramscians infected the institutions and ruined them . We had those changes and now we’ ll have more which they’ve lined up because it’s all social justice warrior stuff .

And after they’ve had those changes the project still won’t be complete and there will still be some inequality somewhere and people will be even more unhappy than before ( the normal people that is ) so more change will be needed .

As predicted by Issac Asimov in 1957. The Naked Sun.
‘The book focuses on the unusual traditions, customs, and culture of Solarian society. The planet has a rigidly controlled population of 20,000, and all work is done by robots, which outnumber humans ten thousand to one. People are taught from birth to avoid personal contact, and live on huge estates, either alone or with their spouse only. Face-to-face interaction (referred to in the book as “seeing”), and especially impregnating a woman, when replacement of a descendent is necessary, was seen as a dirty chore. (Other science fiction novels examine the extra-uterine care of fetuses, but this is not Asimov’s concern here.) Communication takes place through technology unknown off of their world: holography, 3-D television.’
And then the BBC can predict the future (we are told). Global World vision prescribed post UN Agenda 21 and George Soros…
      Are we there yet?

Takes courage to do what Le Tissier has done. He will now be attacked from all sides and probably lose his job. The best way to stop this BLM mob attacking anyone or anything that doesn’t bow to their agenda is to refuse to boycott companies or institutions which cave into them. Boycotting Yorkshire Tea and Betty’s Team Rooms in Yorkshire is a tiny example. But companies in general need to be made to realise that there is a powerful lobby, most of the general public in fact, who don’t support BLM and that those companies had better take their wishes into account or lose sales.

I noted the other week when Rashford sent his letter re school meals to the PM there was no mention of colour in it. Regardless of your views about multimillionaires who may use tax havens wanting more goverment spending , at least it seemed he was steering well clear of the BLM bandwagon. Then a week later he takes the knee. He had a chance to show some real , unifying , colour blind leadership but he squandered it.

It was a mistake for the President to tweet that, though personally I feel if it’s OK to shout ‘Black Power’, ‘White Power’ is equally acceptable. You don’t fight racism with racism, so it’s either both or none. I’d prefer none. Be that as it may, the guy who said it was clearly responding to something said by the protester that we don’t hear. I’d wager it’s ‘Black Power’. Maybe further video will emerge.

What is undeniable is the language later in the video, which I posted yesterday. Suffice to say it involves the F word, Trump, Nazi and turd. Which is typical rhetoric of the left and is never questioned.

Not sure if this has any relevance here, but 5STAR (Freeview 30) is currently showing Scary Movie 2, a decidedly lowbrow horror movie spoof from 2001 made by the Wayans Brothers (if you don’t know, the Wayans are a black American showbusiness family).
Anyway, early in the movie there is a visual joke showing a statue of what I assume is meant to be Thomas Jefferson with Sally Hemings and their mixed-race children. As the camera pans down, we see the plaque on the plinth reads, “Once you go black, you never go back.”
I’ve seen this bit before on TV but it was cut tonight. The tentacles of the BLM protests reach ever further, even into rubbish comedies like this. Another statue falls!

      Trick,

The same Wayans brothers who are behind the abysmal, and if-you-want-to-be-offended really quite racist, “White Chicks”.

Regularly seen on channels like ITV4 and Channel 5, right up there with their equally sympathetic and subtle portrayal of dwarfism, “Little Man”. Yes, it’s shite as well.

The whole family seem to be famous and reasonably successful only because they are black.

Ordinarily I am not keen on such things but the direction and acting held us to the end. Despite a Hollywood lister, the ‘feel’ made it much less like a movie.

DOMINIC LAWSON: First they came for the statues, now stained glass windows. Yet one woman’s vile history is overlooked

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-8469071/DOMINIC-LAWSON-came-statues-stained-glass-windows.html

“The dons were too delicate to mention that the university outpost of Extinction Rebellion, supposedly in sympathy with Black Lives Matter, had spray-painted ‘Eugenics is genocide — Fisher must fall’ on the college’s Gate of Honour.”

Oddly, though, there is one British eugenicist whose name is widely known outside the academic world. That person’s name is advertised in magazines and on hoardings, and it pulls in many millions of pounds of taxpayers’ money every year.

I refer to Marie Stopes. The organisation bearing her name, Marie Stopes International, is perhaps the world’s biggest abortion provider.

Not only are its operations in this country largely paid for by us as an adjunct to the NHS, its overseas work is given huge sums by the Department for International Development.

Originally a brilliant plant palaeontologist, she became obsessed with human breeding, so fixated on this that she disinherited her son Harry for marrying a short-sighted woman (Mary Barnes Wallis, the daughter of the inventor of the ‘bouncing bomb’).

Stopes wrote: ‘She has an inherited disease of the eyes which not only makes her wear hideous glasses so that it is horrid to look at her . . . I have the horror of our line being so contaminated . . . Mary and Harry are quite callous about the wrong to my family and the eugenic crime.’

As the historian Geoffrey Alderman records: ‘This obsession led to her becoming a very proud public supporter of Nazism . . . she even sent Herr Hitler a collection of love poems.

‘In a poem she wrote in 1942, she declared: ‘Catholics and Prussians, the Jews and the Russians, All are a curse, Or something worse.’ ‘

Yet this is the woman who, in 2008, was accorded the signal honour of having her portrait on a postage stamp. And only a few years ago there was a campaign to put up a statue of Stopes in Manchester.

Given that part of her clinic’s original slogan was ‘A Sure Light in our Racial Darkness’, one wonders if it would now have required pulling down, almost as soon as it had been put up.

If you want to wind up leftists, then yes Ghandi (and his anti-African views) is an ok subject but to really annoy them bring up Mary Seacole – the ‘forgotten’ BAME Florence Nightingale who had a few choice words to say about people from the Middle East (and most other places). You won’t see too many Guardian readers calling for her demonisation or erasure from history. The BBC in Wonderland

‘The US has had the most virus-linked deaths, followed by Brazil, the UK and Italy’

    Oh, really?

But isn’t this story which you cover a hint that your main headline may likely be based on a lie?

‘China locks down 400,000 people after virus spike near Beijing’

‘Over the past 24 hours, Beijing reported 14 new cases of the virus, taking the total since a mid-June outbreak in a food market to 311.’

‘While this is a small number compared with the thousands of daily cases in the US or South America, China reacted quickly to contain any spread.’

Could it be that our BBC are repeating word for word Chinese communist anti-US propaganda?

“Alice laughed: “There’s no use trying,” she said; “one can’t believe impossible things.” “I daresay you haven’t had much practice,” said the Queen. “When I was younger, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”

On Saturday night Mr D and I went to the Viking exhibition at the British Museum, virtually of course. May I recommend it?

It was a talk about the life of vikings through the exhibits. It was delivered by Michael Wood and Bettany Hughes. It was obviously not the BBC (and was I think 2014). It had the occasional less than perfect moment such as the music at the start drowning out the talking and an article nearly dropped. I assume the BBC with our almost unlimited funds can have as many retakes as is required. But the joy of no mention of climate change or ethnicity (no black slaves were mentioned in the making of this programme although I think slaves might have been) and role of women was talked about but not elevated beyond what the subject required.

Who needs a tv license when excellence can be found elsewhere?

Sky Australia reminds me of the function the BBC – ironically – played in the Second World War – as a beacon of truth sent out to the occupied lands … of which we are one ….

Within the space of five minutes, during a somewhat less than confrontational face-to-face with Skier, the man of the people was told that a popularity poll in the Mob-server – simply the Guardian in shorts – put him ahead of Boris and that UK covid deaths are the worst in the world.
    Facts.

Interesting turn of events the other day concerning the killing of Trayvon Martin (justifiable in the eyes of the law and the courts).

The guy who shot him, George Zimmerman, was initially identified by all and sundry as a ‘white’ man. Some, because of their hatreds in other directions, even made vague claims that, because of his name, he must have been a Jewish white guy….

Then, it turned out that he was Hispanic, but the shouty community claimed that this was close to being ‘white’ – so it was still the same as a white man killing a poor black boy who had done nothing worse than go out to buy a bag of ‘Skittles’ (never mind any other circumstances).

But, of course these thing can blow back on people, because, in an entirely different context (i.e. BLM), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the beloved spokeswoman of the extreme left wing (see what I did there ?) of the Democrat Party, declared that Hispanics were Black too, and should therefore join BLM in its destructive tendencies.

So……what was claimed to be a racist crime when it happened, and ever since then, too, suddenly turns out to be a Black-on-Black killing according to the Democrats’ own beliefs…

I bet that won’t go down well in some left-wing circles.

Over at IsTheBBCBiased a contributor complains about the guff that the BBC fills its website with, in this particular case an essay on the word ‘the’.

(They play a neat trick where the extermination of the Jews is mentioned, immediately followed by President Trump’s use of the word – you have to follow the link to find out that it had nothing to do with the ‘final solution’ – but the Trump is a Nazi, no need to read further?).

The flavour of the academic rigour (rigor?) can be seen by this:

“Those in higher status positions also use ‘the’ more – it can be a signal of their prestige and (self) importance. And when we talk about ‘the prime minister’ or ‘the president’ it gives more power and authority to that role”.

None of us has ever said ‘the cleaner’, ‘the receptionist’ or ‘the dustman’ of course!

Maybe they think the BBC gives them status?

Griffin performed quite well under the circumstances and, near the end, Paxman got in one more punch, asking what method the BNP proposed for carrying out the party’s stated policy of having the death penalty. Paxman asked flippantly, “Gas-chambers?” Griffin smiled and stated the old British method of hanging. No disciplinary action or controversy, IIRC.

It’s high time this cowardly useless incompetent government protected the people for once and enshrined the right to freedom of speech in law.
There should also be a crime of ‘no platforming’ denying others the right to express their views.

Companies which stray from their core product into the arena of politics should be subject to VAT at 100%

Companies which use their market dominance or size to make political demands should be subject to swingeing fines.

So Starbucks, Coca Cola, Ben & Jerrys, L’Oreal would all see the price of their products double overnight, many of them don’t pay any tax anyway so loss of business taxes wouldn’t be an issue, other than for their shareholders.

And lets face it with the way the cowardly bottler is squandering tax payers money the economy could do with every penny it can get.

Or perhaps to better reflect the racial mix of the population we could black em up once a month and scrub it off after the ‘black day’ was past. No need for Brown face because so few of em set foot in churches anyway. At the start of Covid in places like Delhi where BJP governs police did come hard on Muslims which led to a lot of tit for tat violence etc.
    But that is India

Now this BBC report about Tamil Nadu did begin with a case where it said the victims are white
cos their is a large Christian population
    It didn’t mention any ethnicity
Crucially it didn’t mention BJP do NOT govern that state.
.. the 3 minute report then went onto police against Muslims

Jeezus how did these Professors (yes, you from Reading Uni) get their qualifications???? Of course its sneezing, coughing, the usual suspects that are the prime givers of the virus, but why take the risk and NOT wear a mask. In normal times dentists wear them – so if they weren’t of benefit why would they wear them ? and clinicians wear them. Well, I shall continue to wear mine for as long as it takes, but it shows that scientists and their ilk (like that prat Ferguson) have as much idea as my local milkman in the protocols to follow.

June 2020 – Chinese factories have produced in excess of 80 billion facemasks and want to sell them. Scientific advice from WHO and US and UK: “Masks are essential to prevent the spead of coronavirus. Wear them at all times” (and the cheques are in the post to UN officials and tame politicians everywhere).

Masks work for medics cos they wear them correctly.
Masks are iffy for the public, cos their hygiene standards are often like a 5 year old’s.
They put on their mask without washing their hands
keep touching it, collect load of microbes on it and on their chin
Then pull their mask down onto their chin so they can speak on their mobile thus transferring microbes to the inside of the mask, and fingers
      etc.etc.

However when I go to the rough end of town, I want those people to be wearing masks
cos instead of staying home when they have a cough
they come out to get cans of SpecialBrew and risk coughing all over me.

I’ve been reading but haven’t contributed at all lately, the ongoing situation in which the Western World appears to be suffering from some form of mental breakdown is annoying and depressing me so I’m not as active on here as I could be. It’s not that I’m sticking my head in the sand, it’s just that wherever I look on the TV, even the most innocuous fluff programming, people are lying, deceiving, being economical with the truth, hiding facts, being wilfully ignorant and subjugating themselves to an anti democratic Marxist movement and it’s unhealthy to me. It even blew up at work when for the first time in over 35 years in the workplace I had an argument about the BLM movement with a colleague. What started as me saying that we should move on when he raised how we should be doing something to “raise awareness” because IMO politics does not belong in a business session, led to me being pressed on specifics and NOT cowering under peer pressure. It turns out that many of the people he’s “reached out to” have not thrown their full support behind him which he is disgusted by but I was heartened by.

Anyway the reason for my post, Parler.

I’ve had a Twitter account for many years, since the end of last year I’ve massively cut down the number of people I follow. All I wanted Twitter for was to see the odd good joke and follow my favourite bands so as not to miss tour dates etc as many use Twitter as their first line of communication. Predictably the signalling of virtue, probably as much to do with peer pressure as it is with genuine beliefs, has seen me massively cull who I’m following and to be honest I haven’t even been on Twitter now for several months. So out of interest I created a Parler account, not that I’ll use that much either but I wanted to temperature check it. It’s being promoted as a free speech platform but it seems to have taken on a more right wing than left wing slight. So that’ll be Far Right in the media. I’ve only looked at a relatively small amount of comments on the threads I’ve followed and here’s the thing. Are there some foul mouthed, bone headed, knuckle dragging, borderline/crossed the border Far Right racist comments made by some people? Yes there are, but no more and arguably far less than there are Far Left virtue signalling comments on Twitter. But here’s the thing, the majority of comments on the topics around BLM, Black Pound Day, language being altered so as to avoid perceived offence to others etc have mainly come across as reasoned and sorrowful. Sorrow that imperfect people in an imperfect country in imperfect times have in a few short weeks gone from getting along, muddling along and trying together, to being at each others’ throats because of “outwardly” skin colour alone. But scratch beneath the surface and it’s not skin colour per se, it’s politics and demographics fuelled by the MSM and which people who have never been taught to know better have unwittingly, or with great happiness, embraced to the detriment of kindess, compassion and common sense.

I think that the assault on white people by the MSM is forcing many to move rightwards in their thinking. BLM says that you are either with us or against us and silence is counted as being against.
If this assault continues then the middle of the roaders that you describe will have to choose to either bend the knee in public , no matter what their private views are, or openly stand against the BLM agenda like Matt Le Tissier or Fox have done and take the consequences. The BLM crowd want to force people to choose and to ferociously attack any who don’t take the knee. They think that thanks to the MSM they have the silent majority on their side. But if enough folks stand up to BLM they will be shown to be a paper tiger with little public support.

I don’t have a Twitter or a parter account but if the latter is outside of the Woke orthodoxy control then there will certainly be efforts made to close it down. The more subscribers it has the greater the efforts to shut it down from the liberal Woke blob. One thing that those in charge of Parler should watch out for is infiltration by leftists who pose as far right and post the sort of stuff that offers the government a chance to crack down on it. Of course whilst Twitter etc are often ‘quoted’ by the MSM Parler will never be and never mentioned unless it is to attack it.

Parler is right wing by definition because many on the right have been chased off Twitter. Therefore to find out what some on the right wish to say you need to be on Parler.

I have my reservations about its long-term practicality, but for now it will do and has demonstrated the appetite for such a service.

      Woolwich / James

I do wonder whether there is an ‘controlling consciousness’
over the activities of any bit of the MSMBBC ….I think they just get a ‘bone ‘ whether it be brexit – Cummings – the colour nonsense – and out run each other with it .

They are all looking at each other – whether it be the lowest journo – up the chain to their senior command – to “impress’ by tick boxing ….
And a fair size lump of the punters absorb it and use if for their own purpose – aided by the standard momentum type rentamob which turns up or sets up demos to get someone killed so that they can up the ante ….

Plod running away just fuels the cycle ….. as well as events elsewhere fueled by social media …..

Woolwich – like you I struggle with it . My exposure to the MSMBBC is almost accidental now – although I’ve always absorbed political stuff like a sponge since I was a kid . So it’s hard to adapt from long held habits – but not impossible – and change can be good …

    TWATO

the BBC just can’t help it – I always thought Twato was about news..but apparently now it is social justice programme…huge amount of time on Racism in 1957 – USA Little Rock – basically white people are racists….are incapable of not being so.

I am duly sick and tired of the sanctimonious narrative the BBC promote. Balance is not a word they seem to know.

Just stop talking about racism – stop fanning the flames – and recognise that racism works in all directions it is not a one way White to Black street..

I was still spluttering with disbelief at last night’s Countryfile claim that our countryside is somehow racist, when this latest pearl from the biased broadcaster hit the in-box.
The Times reports that the editor-in-chief of the BBC’s Good Food is reviewing all its recipes for “cultural insensitivity”.
Christine Hayes says some recipes which include broad-stroke language such as “Asian salad” will be removed or amended.
The madness goes on. They’re coming for you – look out black pudding, brown rice, yellow split peas.
Next up, Gardeners World. Not enough diversity in the vegetable plot. Racism among the runner beans. Why are there no black daises?
And from the world of snooker – why it’s wrong the white ball gets to play all the shots.

You have not been ‘ejukated proply’….if there are no BAMES anywhere it is, by default, racist – because the Left seem to believe that BAMEs need help/support to get in their cars and go somewhere.
They can’t see that this is akin to the attitude of the original missionaries …and yet their actions are now seen as White Supremacist Racism…
The Left are as dumb as a box of rocks…

I had put off reading the Wimbledon email I had been sent a couple of days ago until today – apart from a white man and a white woman hazy in the background we had 3 people in 3 photos – Venus Williams, Coco Gauff and an anonymous (at least to me) black woman. 3 out of 3.

    I have deleted it.

Language barriers among Leicester’s Asian population could be one reason behind second Covid spike says councillor as city faces two-week lockdown extension

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8469725/Leicester-faces-extra-two-week-lockdown-pubs-hairdressers-staying-SHUT.html

As one who has paid thousands for English lessons for wife as part of the immigration process I demand to know why there are “asians” in this country who cannot speak English and yet, presumably, hold a British passport

( know how in Luton with the backhanders to the examining boards, I understand from the local Luton news that £500 was the going rate which never quite got to the bbc news for some strange reason)

Also another requirement is the ability to financially support oneself or a sponsor undertakes this, so poverty is no excuse whatsoever either. ( unless it is a fake application with fake sponsor)

So laziness, dishonesty and corruption, or just bloody minded contempt of this country has lead to this and whos fault is that?

… and of course the BBC won’t ask why there are language barriers, because it might take them, and us, somewhere they don’t want to go. I did some English tuition some years ago with the bride-to-be of a friend of a friend. There are exams to pass and it isn’t a piece of cake; as you say, the process can be quite expensive. The whole system is imperfect but dishonesty is ok if you’re from one of the favoured groups.

I gave a wry smile when a ‘business’ man in Leicester was interviewed – he ran a mobile phone shop. Probably knows how to calculate his profit, and how much tax to pay, and what benefits to claim, but his English was just about recognisable.

With a name like Sir Peter Soulsby anyone would be forgiven for thinking the Mayor of Leicester was the truest of blue, but not so, he’s another committed socialist and Labour MP happy to assume the fringe benefits of the class system.
And more than happy to damn the government with the BBC’s active encouragement.
