BBC WEB-SITE watch #2 – the BBC think in the time of Covid that that is all that matters to us ordinary people

https://www.bbc.co.uk/ – see top left (currently showing FA Cup – latest from 10 games)

The BBC haven’t really caught the public mood. Like the tabloid papers, which term now, sadly, includes all the broadsheets the BBC as part of the MSM think that all we are interested in is football. Football and going to the pub or gym, finding out about slebs and then watching TV, including soaps set in pubs and so-called reality TV which is really faked.

Er, no, BBC. You have that wrong. You are out of touch.

Yes, with the number of times that gym owners have been interviewed one would think the whole population are gym bunnies. Funny that, as we have the largest problem of obesity in Europe !

Brissles, my dear old thing (well, I wish it was the cricket season, its a little chilly at present) I consider a pic of Joe Wicks to be as welcome on the BBC web-site and front pages of newspapers as pics of the Duke & Duchess of Los Angeles or whatever or wherever. I cannot understand the Beeb’s obsession with Wicks. At least the Markles have been newsworthy in the past, although I cannot wait for their ‘quiet life’ to really get started.

As Captain Kirk would say: “Make it so.”

Just been painting the walls at my workshop and only had my FM radio. As Norton and the woman who helped him have FO’ed I figured I would not have to listen to him and her trying to out-ego each other or Graham making catty remarks about how he just wants the show to end so he can go home. So I thought I’d give radio-2 another chance.
Sure enough it was a woman. Niki Chapman. First thing which struck me was there was absolutely zero wit. It was Zoe Ball part 2.
Then came the first guest. A woman (of course) publicising her new book on Veganism. She was about 18 I think and it was such low-grade, it was embarassing. Like our local radio. They both gushed about Vegan food – even informing me that boiled lentils are ‘vibrant’.
Next guest was another woman (of course). This one has written a book on ‘creativity’ which was 5 minutes of meaningless platitudes including using the word ‘incredible’ five times in the first minute. The conversation finally detriorated into fawning about famous people in the same way Zoe Ball does.
Finally, to sign off, Nikki threw out a virtue-signal by playing Bowie/Queen ‘Under Pressure’ and informed us that she ‘was feeling a bit emotional now’ when it ended.
What a complete pile of sh1t. It was like listening to children. Back to MP3’s of old Wogan shows.
    I want my money back.

My favourite was a quiz about garden birds his team had set up without telling him so he didn’t realise until after he had read them out. The 3 choices for the answers were (I can’t actually remember the first 2 so I made them up):
      1) Sparrows like millet
      2) Crows like apples
      3) Tits like coconuts
What a class act they were.

Had a terrible nightmare last night.

I was walking down the street. Saw a poster of a defiant Churchill, with a two finger salute to victory. Met Ian Lavender, he said Mainwaring was dead, had shot himself in the Village Hall Office. Apparently he had gone bankrupt due to Hodges giving him a £10,000 fine for leaving the lights on. Feeling miserable, I then walked into the Butchers Shop. Jones had hanged himself on a meat hook. Presumably because he had gone bankrupt due to Hodges giving him a £10,000 fine for leaving the lights on. Walked out of the shop feeling very miserable. Saw the poster again, but this time it was a poster of a miserable Boris Johnson, with a two finger salute that said F*Off. I then wolk up with a jolt when I was run over by a German or Chinese Tank.

AntiBeeb can start practicing what they preach/print by not sending reporters, cameras, commentators all around the country following football matches. How can this be carrying on during this time of national crisis? Any time you listen to 5dead there is football on, along with news of teams or coaching staff who are isolating. They must be super spreaders these practitioners of association football.

I saw one of the scientists on the BBC 6pm news. He was one of those behaviour experts, which the Government relies on. Basically they are all about controlling people, getting them to conform.

Finally, some good news? Daily number of Covid-19 deaths plummets by 22% from 1,325 to 1,035. Oddly enough, the drop of 290 in today’s figures compared to yesterday’s is not reported positively by the BBC and other news outlets. The caveat is that the number of deaths varies each day, so may go up and may go down. However, the direction of the reporting is always one way only…

Radio4 show called “Views of Anita & selected Callers”
… one direction only typically pensioners who have locked themselves in, and leave only once a month to go to the supermarket and want police to shoot people who do it twice.

Yet no mention of London 50 person shisha parties
Nor of the stunt before Christmas where Boris announces a coming London lockdown from midnight
    ..thus caused crammed trains.

  18. JimS says:

Over at IsTheBBCBiased they quote Ms. Spring (I am only 24)

Those images, those interviews, were very, very striking because a lot of people really, genuinely, do believe allegations of rigged elections, of voter fraud – conspiracies that have been circulating on social media in recent weeks and months – very passionately, and in many ways too they have fallen victim to viral disinformation…

… But today the suggestion from those people, influencers within those conspiracy communities, was that people causing the trouble yesterday were Antifa – anti-fascist groups. There is no evidence to support that idea, and a lot of the pictures they are using to demonstrate that show recognisable conspiracy influencers, generally on the far right. So those claims are not true.

How does Ms. Spring know that she is right, sitting in front of her computer screen? Aren’t the likes of Reuters and the Press Association the progenitors of ‘viral (dis)information – they send it out and the newspapers and broadcasters just re-broadcast it.

She has no evidence to support anything that she writes, she is just echoing what her ‘bubble’ wants to say, and it is a bubble that has increasingly already written the story that they want told, the ‘facts’ are an inconvenience to be ignored or at best ‘posted in six-point at the bottom of page 36’ a year later.

People doing research are urged to go for the primary source. BBC subject editors are at best a tertiary source, hopefully they know their subject. Ms Spring is a good two levels below that.

“Regular rapid testing for people without coronavirus symptoms will be made available across England this week, the government has said.”

Dare to not work from home? Feeling healthy?
Just for you, they’re “rolling out” ( how they love that term) “a regime” where you’ll get hauled in for regular testing, facing a possible home imprisonment term.

In a way this reminded me of dystopian sci-fi story:
“Philip K. Dick’s The Minority Report focuses on a society with virtually no crime; however, people can be guilty of pre-crime. Pre-cogs predict the future and punishment is meted out before any harm can be done to society..”

The BBC article then continues with threats from so called scientists
“lockdown measures in England need to be stricter to achieve the same impact as the March shutdown.”

Impact? or did the wave just run it’s course, helped by people and shop’s washing things more, and the weather improving.

“Meanwhile, London Mayor Sadiq Khan has welcomed the opening of a vaccination centre at the ExCel Centre in east London next week – which is also home to one of the Nightingale hospitals.”

“Could Congress attack happen in Britain? It could with our Leftie mob”

    https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/13698941/congress-attack-happen-britain-opinion/

“Who thinks people who praised violent street protests in Britain, supported the IRA, backed dictatorships abroad and allowed a political party to be poisoned by racism would protect our democracy?

The good sense of the British people kept Corbyn out of power, but look at the way the hard left set up Momentum to strengthen their grip on the Labour Party. And look how the mob on social media target anyone who dares to challenge them.

Would a hard-left government not have changed the rules to stay in power?

Would the hard-line Stalinists they work with have accepted an election defeat?

And ask yourself whether there is much difference between Trump inciting his supporters in Washington and John McDonnell backing violent protests in London?

Around seven years ago he called for “insurrection” to “bring down” the Government and praised rioters who attacked — he said “kicked the s**t” out of — the Conservative Party’s offices just down the road from Parliament.
    DISGUSTING INSULTS

In 2013, he backed illegal action to bring down elected governments, saying: “We used to call it insurrection. Now we’re polite and say it’s direct action.”

And in 2015 he said Conservative MPs should not be allowed to “show their face anywhere” without being subjected to “direct action”.

Both Trump and the hard left target the media just for doing their job.

Abusing journalists for daring to ask reasonable questions became routine at Labour events. The hard left condemn Trump for sexism and demeaning behaviour, but women often bore the brunt of their attacks.

Laura Kuenssberg, the BBC’s political editor, was subjected to the most appalling misogynistic abuse and threats. It got so bad that she needed a bodyguard at Labour’s annual conference.
The good sense of the British people kept Corbyn out of power

Imagine that: In modern Britain, a journalist needed to be protected just for doing her job. What a disgrace.”

McDonnell repeated comments calling for Esther McVey, a government minister, to be lynched and called her a “stain of inhumanity”.

Jewish women MPs got it worst of all, targeted with the most disgusting insults and violent threats. Luciana Berger needed police protection at Labour’s conference.

She and Louise Ellman were chased out of the party and their seats in Parliament by racist bullies.

What right have the hard left got to accuse anyone else of racism after the shameful way Labour was poisoned with anti-Jewish racism? A party with a proud record of fighting for justice and equality was found to have broken the law in its treatment of Jewish people.
    BIG LESSON

What is the difference between Trump using conspiracy theories to claim the election result was stolen, and the hard-left “betrayal” myth that claims Corbyn almost won in 2017 but was cheated out of victory by sabotage by moderate MPs and Labour staff?

And look at what McDonnell and Corbyn said about the IRA.

McDonnell wanted “people involved in the armed struggle” — people he said had used “bombs and bullets” — to be honoured.

  35. Richard Pinder says:

    My take on the situation.

Christopher Booker said in Groupthink, A study in self delusion. Sooner or later, these new realities crowding in from outside will make it very difficult to sustain the bubble of scientific and political make-believe in which we have been living for so long.

With Climate Change, the new realities outside of the bubble of scientific make-believe are a formula for the Greenhouse Effect based on Atmospheric mass, gravity and air pressure first suggested by James Clerk Maxwell in 1871, which was proved correct in 2011 for all known Planetary Atmospheres by Ned Nikolov & Karl Zeller. The bubble has burst in Astronomy, Mensa, Tallbloke, biasedbbc and is bursting in many other areas. But I haven’t seen it in a book and it certainly hasn’t appeared in the mainstream media. It also feels like only one percent of the population realises that this is the most important scientific discovery in the 21st Century.

But far worse for the bubble is the Election Fraud in America. The new reality outside of the bubble of political make-believe is that half of the population believe that there was massive election fraud. The reaction is to censor any mention of alleged election fraud. Judges who for four years looked into Russiagate without any evidence, now wont even legitimise evidence of Election Fraud out of fear of offending the bubble. Like the term “Hoax” in Climate Change, the only time I have heard the term “Election Fraud” on the telly and in newspapers, was in a speech by Donald Trump. So Trump is banned from the bubble.

So is the bubble about to burst. It may be. There is a mystery about what happened to the CIA servers inside the US Consulate in Frankfurt. Was it a false flag by the bad guys. I haven’t heard anything from Trump but his team say the servers ended up with the good guys. This is important because the CIA servers will contain the only evidence of an attack by the CIA. CIA systems like Hamr and Kraken are designed to leave no evidence of Election Fraud.

So maybe the military is waiting to act after the inorgriation of Biden. That way Trump will not be President when the Insurrection Act comes into force. A peaceful transfer to Biden as a puppet under marshal law for one year. A rerun of the election, Trump versus Biden. A restoration of democracy in January 2022.

At the moment, that’s my best guess.

I agree and would add to the Globalists educational subversion their media subversion.
The referendum result and the 2016 US result were both close run things but the democratic system and media systems pertaining at the time was such that the true results were published.
Then the outrage of the elites kicked in and they tried and very nearly succeeded in stopping Brexit and pretty much succeeded in hobbling President Trump.
On both sides of the Atlantic they increased their stranglehold on the MSM and became ever more draconian in what they would allow to be fed to the people and what they suppressed. They have built a world wide censorship and propaganda system for the globalist causers to which there is little of no opposition. This is the corner stone of their domination. Without total control of what ordinary folks know and don’t know they couldn’t get away with the great US election steal. In future this template will be used to subvert free and democratic elections everywhere.
Coupled with their indoctrination of the young , which you refer to , they seem set to call the shots for decades to come.

Middle-aged kids are well into alternative forms of news and entertainment, so the BBC are really spitting on the very citizens they need to prolong their desperate survival. It would seem the people of Britain are largely approving when it comes to the policy of locking down the healthy in order to protect the NHS from a virus. One could argue about the science, or for that matter the logic of protecting our health services from an illness, but one thing is unaurguably true – this policy is economically expensive.

The first of the inevitable tax increases is looming into view: ‘Sir Keir Starmer It’s absurd to hike up council tax at this time’ (Sunday Telegraph) – I’m not sure that the notion of absudity as a counter argument does justice to the supposedly forensic mind of the Labour leader (let’s excuse it as a sound bite) and with government deficits soaring upward like a diwali rocket it would seem the time to raise revenues is rather overdue. But we’ll also excuse Starmer here. I’m sure he’s written some well reasoned and not at all opportunistic article in the Telegraph. Oh yes, don’t raise tax locally, that’s absurd – have central government pay up instead because they harvest the magic money tree. His mate, little man Khan, Mayor of London, will I’m sure be resisting every local tax increase with all his might. (sarc – as the youngsters tend to text)

So where have lockdown policies got us?

The Observer would wish to distract us with the velvet (or should that be the rubber…) glove: ‘Doctors raise alarm as Covid strikes down NHS workforce’

The Telegraph wields the iron fist: ‘Police to issue fines after one warning’ – not imprisonment, mind you. I doubt many of these restrictions would be upheld in court as lawful, and anyway it’s the cash the authorities are short of.

At this point, were one to want to be satirical, one could speculate how many covid fines issued by Priti’s boot boys it would take to pay for an illegal Channel crossing migrant to be fed and clothed for a week?

The Observer reckons its readers – who as we know from their circulation figures are a rather small and niche group – want to read ever more derogatory screeds about Donald Trump.

“Donald Trump ate my hamster” (just kidding)

The Daily Star on Sunday meanwhile also knows its audience: ‘SAS v UFO Special forces training for battles with aliens’

Which, to be fair, is not that far from current reality in a week when Boris called in the army to fight the supposed mutant virus.

Well what else could he do when all our doctors and nurses have thrown a sickie: ‘Service in crisis with 46,000 ill – BMA chief. Calls grow for tough new lockdown steps’ (Observer)

Quite what further lockdown measures one dreads to think.

Another lifting of the upwardly elastic Tier system to five and I’m likely to go banging on the gates at Wormwood Scubs, shouting let me in.

I’m certain they’ve a full-sized ping-pong table in there which I don’t have and they don’t need to do their own shopping.

Having to listen to all the tedious Wahhabi preaching going on morning, noon and night seems a small price to pay for convenient ease of availabilty of the recreational drugs.

I mean for goodness sake, people in their eighties and nineties are dying in large numbers! People with life-threatening conditions are passing away every day! It’s a crisis for and of humanity.

The Sunday People wins the prize for headline of the week: ‘Death is all around us.. so follow the rules’

I don’t think that is a direct quote from the opening passage of a psychopathic child kidnapper’s note to distraught parents. Much less the latest decoded cipher message from the Zodiac Killer (there’s one for classic crime fans).

However, had the Sunday People’s headline appeared on their frontpage constructed from randomly chosen typeface letters cut from various of its newspaper rivals, I would not have been much further disturbed. In fact, for a chap of my vintage the first thought on seeing such a thing would inevitably be – never mind the bollocks.

Speaking of British vulgarity in the face of adversity, I’m considering staging a mass participation weekly event to rival clap for heroes. It’s called fart for Boris. Every Monday morning at 8 o’clock I suggest we all concentrate in our back passages and enthusiatically express our appreciation. Just me then?

I was always in favour of the Poll Tax, just as I am in favour that everyone should pay income tax.

In both cases it can be related to the ability to pay, with lower rates.

The crucial thing is that everyone should have skin in the game. No representation without taxation.

Because it easy to vote for the party promising to spend the most on you when you are not required to pick up the tab.

PS the average taxpayer funded contribution to the Local Government pension scheme is up to 19% of salary. A figure mysteriously hidden from every council leaflet ever produced, not easy to find online. Employee contributions for most are 6% or less.

Agreed, and probably most general benefits too, like child allowances.

No need to do ‘means testing’ as the ‘rich’ pay it back in tax anyway. It does mean too that the ‘rich’ get to know what their poorer fellows get paid rather just an impression from whatever political party they follow.

Actually I wouldn’t have child allowances, I would have transferable tax allowances so that, say, a single earning parent could pick up spouse’s and childrens’ allowances to set against personal tax.

Sluff, the Community Charge or Poll Tax was a great idea that was ruined by Margaret Thatcher. I’m in favour of massive tax reform.

            I suggest the following:
            – Scrapping all indirect, stealth and hidden taxes. They don’t work during Pandemics.
Reducing our vast tax code to only a handful of taxes:
            – A Community Charge for Local Authorities related to ability to pay
            – Income Tax – ditto – but with everyone having the same basic allowance; derive income in UK then you pay IT here
            – Corporation Tax (IT for business, preferably at same rate as IT)
            – Capital Gains Tax with an allowance for everyone (preferably set at the same level as IT)
            – Value Added Tax or Sales Tax to be variable to encourage/support demand or reign in/restrict personal expenditure
            – Financial export tax (to keep capital in the UK) – really only to stop massive off-shoring (might be redundant as once tax reforms accomplished no-one will want to move out of UK)
            – Inheritance Tax with substantial allowance for everyone.

            Have I missed anything?

To get to this position after the Pandemic it will be necessary to increase taxes overall and keep the current progressive higher rates of IT. Eventually, it ought to be possible to reach a single rate for IT so that everyone pays at the same rate. Central Government and Local Authorities would not be allowed to levy extra charges for things like Passports, Registrations, parking, Leisure Centres. It would all be funded directly and responsible Civil Servants, central and local, would have to be .. er, well, …. responsible for a change and work within their budgets.

Ideally, the State would provide free education to tertiary, first degree level, free healthcare including dental, eye and foot care. The health care might require a mixed economy with an insurance payment but modelled more on the French system than the US system.

I’m sure I have missed something and it will not work.

The BBC will be hunting through Schedules A to F to find that special case of scrapping Case II of Schedule M will result in the habitat of the lesser spotted, big-eared vole coming under threat and will trail endless spokespersons across Farming Today, the TOADY programme and Ewan Yores on radio and Panorama on TV to say why we should keep the old tax system, including the TV Licence Fee.
