I don’t need youtube for the most prominent Indian comedians, I get it every time I pop into my local shop

He has the local paper front page from 1979 wallpapered around the shop, nestled between the latest copy of Big Jugs and Readers Wives, showing CCTV screen grabs of him beating the crap out of a local hoodie trying the nick a bar of chocolate

If I am feeling a little depressed and in need of cheering up I just ask him “has been back?” what do you think about this Brexit thing then ?

Did anyone on here know that there is a Pagan Police Officers Organisation set up to support serving police officers who are practising Pagans?

    https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/pagan-police-join-fight-against-far-right-extremists-7f8lcj5dl

It appears that these Pagan Police Officers have a thing against “Far Right” extremists.

So I expect Tommy Robinson to wake up covered in snakes or with his hair on fire anytime now.

Just when you think the bottom of the barrel has been scraped by the crazies and nut jobs in the diversity departments in our National Institutions they find a new lower level to sink to.

      Let’s see if I understand.
Far right extremists oppose Moslems and are Islamophobic.
Moslems are very devout people who worship an all knowing Allah and feel threatened by unbelievers.
Pagans are unbelievers who are dedicated to defending Moslems.

      Seems right

Last week The Independent trumpeted a poll result that claimed most Britains now thought Brexit to be a mistake.

Most voters say Brexit has gone badly, new poll finds

    https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/brexit-poll-survey-gone-badly-b1982375.html

This poll was apparently commissioned by the Independent itself.

Now today we see the results of another poll on the same subject, this time by Ipsos MORI, the renowned and apparently unbiased poll specialists.

“Brexit LIVE: Rejoin hammer blow as voters overwhelmingly reject EU return”

    https://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/1543954/brexit-news-liz-truss-maros-sefcovic-boris-johnson-macron-fishing-northern-ireland-eu

I would imagine some there are some red and glum faces at The Independent right now!

The moral of this story for all newsy folk is to find the truth then print the truth like it or not and not your own opinion.

I saw that poll and my immediate thought was that the very specific and devious wording of ‘Brexit has gone badly’ does not mean people regret leaving. Just that the politicians didn’t do it very well. Along with all the negative hysteria the BBC has been causing.

Net result for me : more desperate remainer scumbaggery.

Per the Anychess being shorthanded due to covid (think of a number/variant) there is a simple solution, which would cover all unionised employment. Revert to a doctors note for sickness and get rid of self certification. Stop statutory sick pay being paid from day 1 and pay it upon return to work with a doctors note. The unions would of course scream blue murder, Boris can then say “It is just an interim measure whilst the country is gripped by this pandemic” Works for me.

It is reported that ex Minister John Wittingdale is saying that the BBC License Fee will be discontinued and that the BBC will receive a government grant for continuing to supply an offering of children’s programmes and news ( can anyone tell the difference)
. The grant will be worth one third of the current fee . For the rest of its output the BBC will become a subscription only service , or for that matter share the grant with GB News to ensure diversity of views.

If this is true then it’s certainly a step in the right direction but why not go the whole hog and make it full subscription service with no government grant. The obvious danger is that successive governments increase the ‘grant’ and the BBC becomes as powerful as ever.

Stew, you should have watched Gt British Pottery Throwdown. (a programme I’ve loved in the past). Started tonight, and there are the usual suspects of pick n mix, plus someone called AJ – make of that what you will, I’m still trying to figure it out.

One contestant made a really lovely child’s breakfast set, with a fairy, and painted the fairy brown, fair enough, but then one of the hosts (nice mixed race chap) decided to make a thing out of it, and said his young daughter struggled to identify with a lot of things, and a fairy of her own colour was a lovely thing to do. Every sodding programme now has to include a political agenda, and it took the edge off the enjoyment.

‘The idea that you can only be inspired by people that look like you is very patronising to black/brown people.’

It may be patronising but it’s now a staple within that culture. All flows from a central insecurity: they’ve been coerced, conquered and enslaved throughout the entirety of human history and nobody in their collective has yet offered a suitable theory as to why they make it so easy for bad people to continually f*ck them over.

When they finally figure it out, perhaps we’ll see an end to all the sanctimonious bleating and self-obsession. Or maybe they’ll just double-down. It’s tedious, nonetheless.

“These gangs are waging war on the survivors and anyone who is investigating them. Maybe this is the reason that mainstream journalists shy away from this problem. I still don’t really understand all this. The photo of Andrew with the girl was in London where the age of consent is 16 and she was 17. Did she really think Prince Andrew was hanging round her for her scintillating conversation? It is all very sleazy, yes but the sort of salacious tittle tattle the News Of The World specialised in, rather than something to bring down the royal family.

Deborah, the other thing that I find puzzling is that Prince Andrew does not appear to have a Diary Secretary. I have worked for/with some busy people – not royalty – and their daily lives, Monday to Friday, were detailed by their secretaries, down to the nearest half-hour. That year’s diary for Prince Andrew would either prove or disprove the claimed Pizza Express encounter in an instant.

No, I don’t buy this idea that 17, 18 year old can’t be victims of grooming
Most 25 year women could be groomed by someone more mature than they are.
I am not in favour of relationships where there is a big power imbalance ..yet in countries like Thailand , that is a norm.

Just occasionally courts have accepted that a younger girl was the control against a 25 year old man etc.

Ultimately it’s up to the judicial system to decide, and in cases where there is not enough evidence, that’s the prosecutor’s decision without it coming to court.

There was a Donald Pleasance film the other night where the 19 year old secretary was portrayed as the manipulator of a married man twice her age.
Likewise in a Rumpole story a 15 year old girl was the manipulator of a 25 yo teacher ..He was jailed and she laughed.

There are two sides to every story, and I knew some very sexually manipulative young ladies when I was younger. I recall a group at school who used every gambit going to get what they wanted out of male teachers, at least those stupid enough to fall for it.

That’s not the point though. The Duke of York has been groomed since birth to be in the limelight, and taught how to behave ‘correctly’ in every situation, including, I’m quite sure, how to deal with ‘gold diggers’. He knew exactly what he was doing, and how it would be perceived by the British public if it ever got out.

I’m quite sure Ms Giuffre(?) also knew exactly what she was doing too, but that has no bearing, on whether, or not Prince Andrew is guilty here. Some of the other women in this Epstein case strike me as being much more innocent (and perhaps not too bright), and were manipulated/groomed for sure, and that’s appalling, whether they were over an ‘age of consent’, or not.

As for Harry and his gold digger… well, he’s clearly not too bright, but then his father (whichever one) isn’t either. The Windsors really are in trouble.

The Tories just need to calm down. Ruth Davies on why plunging opinion polls are just a mid-term wobble‘ (Daily Telegraph)

The Labour Party will have to earn the public’s trust despite the government’s “incompetence becoming plain”, Sir Keir Starmer is to say.‘ (BBC)

One of the great secrets of life is knowing who your friends are.

The Torygraph appears to have been suddenly jolted awake after napping in that big comfy leather wingback chair by the fireside for the best part of the last two years – think of that newspaper as Rowley Birkin QC – that clubbish, white-haired, drinker’s-nosed, elderly, three-sheets-to-the-wind, labyrinthine anecdote-telling comic character played by Paul Whitehouse. You know the one – “I was terribly drunk

The Telegraph wakes from extended slumber with a start, notices for the first time in months the clear bright light of day and startles the other recumbent members in the room as it blurts: “We can’t jab the whole planet every six months” – the paper quotes ‘a leading vaccine expert‘ as if no civilian with half-a-brain hadn’t already clocked on to that by now.

innoculation will need to be restricted to the most vulnerable in future‘ – so get out of here with your mask mandates, travel bans, track and trace, vaccine passports, bullying of schoolchildren with your fears, entertainment venue curfews, shop and workplace closures, and all the rest of your riduclous lockdown paraphernalia aimed at the otherwise healthy population.

My abiding memory of 2020 was visiting a London pub with a small group of friends, being assigned to a table of six and during the evening one member of our bubble being ticked off by bar staff for daring to rise from his seat and going over to chat with someone from a neighbouring table.

I wonder if we can ever hope for a time when he may receive an apology, an amnesty, a pardon for this preceived transgression if you will, for his normal human behaviour wrongly categorised in far less tolerent times as perverse and abhorrent?

    Maybe…? There’s a precedent of sorts…

Pardons extended to all abolished same-sex crimes.. More people will be eligible for a pardon for historical criminal convictions relating to homosexual activity, the government has said. It means anyone convicted or cautioned for consensual homosexual activity, under now-abolished laws, can apply to have them “disregarded”.’ (BBC)

Some would diagnose prejudice as stemming from some sublimated phobia and sometimes intolerance to be rooted in projection.

One has long noticed the severe case of coronaphobia exhibited over there at the ‘i’ newspaper: ‘NHS leaders warn PM over growing staffing crisis‘ – the now familiar several frontpage scary bullet points are of course ever present – one contracts some detail somewhat for the sake of space: ‘The Royal College of Nursing and other medics urge government to take a “more cautious approach” on restrictions…‘; Several NHS trusts have now declared “critical incidents” i understands… “warning of unsustainable demands”; ‘PM admits NHS will come under considerable pressure…‘; ‘Sage scientists tell i that Omicron peak could be longer and more “drawn out” than expected

One could and perhaps should further abbreviate for the sake of brevity: “Whaaaaa scary fear scary whaaaa! We’re all doomed, I tell you! Doctor said so!

    Where is our salvation?

“Shocking” threat to parishes as more than 400 churches close in less than decade‘ (Telegraph)

This will scarcely trouble the metropolitan liberal-minded believers among us: ‘2022’s hottest novel “I wanted to celebrate the mixed race, middle class” (‘i’) – so says Nikki May on her debut novel Wahala: ‘Nigerian-British author… never read books about mixed-race, middle-class people like her. Her first novel sees to that – and it’s already being adapted by the BBC‘ – of course it is.

More good news for the liberal-minded: ‘Khan moves to decriminalise use of cannabis in London‘ (Telegraph) – one supposes that at least one crime statistic in the capital will be instantly at the stroke of pen heading in the right direction.

There would appear to be a slight pause to the previous media “rewilding” craze that seemed to envisage Surbiton apeing the Serengeti, like Tom and Barbara, late of The Good Life, turned up to eleven – second thoughts, we wonder, or as we’d prefer to believe Margo and Jerry Leadbetter giving some neighbourly advice on prospective property values should a pack of wolves be let loose in The Avenue?: ‘Animal attack! The people who survived terrifying encounters(Guardian); ‘Sir David Attenborough. My brush with an “aggressive” cactus‘ (Telegraph)

The question “Can you hack it?” is set to take on a very different meaning for modern school kids faced with their exams: ‘Schoolchildren in England are to take A-level and GCSE papers online‘ (Times)

Covid chaos…‘ – suggests the Daily Mail with unabashed glee – ‘...Fear as million isolate. Schools, commuters, hospitals and businesses face full impact today‘ – well, no one really wants to rush back to the grind after an extended holiday.

Fortunately, for you lovely people hereabouts, I see this daily somewhat eccentric press round up some sort of public service. If not a frontline hero at least a backroom would-be warrior?

    So, finally…

Woman strips down to underwear and uses dress as face mask in front of shocked family. In a shocking display of dedication to Covid rules, a woman was caught on camera stripping off in an ice cream parlour in front of two children and their dad – who seemed to be sneaking a peek(Daily Satyr online has the CCTV pics)

TOADY Watch #1 – Agenda for the day at Editorial meeting: the BBC R4 News Running Order

Various opinions were voiced: “We shouldn’t make it too obvious about the BBC supporting Starmer’s attempt to cling on to the leadership of the Labour Party with his speech today.” “Well, just in, we do have the news about the four guilty verdicts for Elizabeth Holmes, founder of Ther” “Sorry, to cut in, but isn’t that Epstein document a clincher for Prince Andrew’s legal team?” “Yes but that is slightly old news – we get enough complaints from listeners, viewers and web-site users about the BBC always running out-of-date news.” “OK, perhaps the Holmes verdicts first, Starmer and his speech second and the Prince Andrew thing after that? Are we agreed about the top three? What can come next?” “Then, what about the web-site?”

Dear Winston Smith of the BBC Historical Corrections Department,

As I’ve had to look at your BBC news and use other sources to determine that your news is not news but selective editorial opinion I’d like to request that I have a refund for the last 4 years plus get the BBC free from now on.

Please let me know how I can go about this as I am willing to create a full list of articles that I’ve had to investigate plus time taken for me to check your fact checker whilst realising that the BBC intentionally removes news rather than incorrectly report on it, uses images to sway opinion or misleads with the main titles hoping no one reads the full article.

‘Omission is the greatest form of lie.’

Hello ! Apologies if this is mentioned above, but an update from my post near the start of this thread about the BBC New Years fireworks display in londonistan.

I just found out that the poem read on the bridge by the unknown person of colour was in fact written by a white British person ( apparently of Welsh parentage though born in NZ ) called ‘ Tomfoolery’

    https://m.facebook.com/pg/probablytomfoolery/posts/?_se_imp=2llKqxbq7AjhccFKH

I am sure he would have been perfectly capable of reading his own poem .. But somehow he was not chosen to do so .. I wonder why ?!

Apparently this Tomfoolery guy also wrote the diversity Britains got talent George Floyd dance so he certainly would have had suitable lefty woke credentials to have read out his own poem !

Being left and woke isn’t good enough it seems, you have to be left AND ‘diverse’ in order to make the NYE londonistan fireworks cut !

1pm BBC local news “Sir Key Starmer has said the Humber lies at the foot of our hydrogen future”
clip “The smelly Tories closed the Rough gas works*
and that is why we have high gas prices
The workers there aren’t looking back
they are looking to the future as a world centre for hydrogen storage “

    * It’s not a “works”… it is a storage facility
    .. it kept getting leaks
British gas had asked for more money to fix them the gov said no
Now the gov wants to repurpose the caverns as a hydrogen storage facility
A more difficult job cos hydrogen molecules are even smaller so even more prone to escaping.

.. The hydrogen project is NOT green .. A plant in Hull will buy gas and use steam to split it to get hydrogen ..it will output hydrogen and CO2
They dream they will not release the CO2, but rather Capture it
However no one in the world has got viable CCS to work.

The irony is the hydrogen mostly then gets sent to Drax to be burnt
Daft cos they might as well have sent the natural-gas straight to Drax and cut out the waste of the hydrogen stage.

BBC trying to defend Blair, how can you defend the undefendable.

As a veteran of Northern Ireland during the troubles I find Blair’s knighthood f–king disgusting..He threw us veterans to the wolves whilst giving known terrorists a get out jail free card. And why, to make political capital. How must the family of Dennis Hutchins be feeling, the poor man was hounded to his death as a result of Blair’s deal….how must the family of the soldiers killed in the Iraqi war be feeling, WMD my arse..

A knighthood for Blair..??? He should be in a prison cell.

      https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/black-country/police-patrols-stepped-up-telford-22636912.amp
A statement from the West Mercia force appeared to link incidents of criminal damage and suspected arson in the past week to an independent investigation into child sexual exploitation in the Shropshire town.

Jamie Dunn, Superintendent for Telford, said: “I’m aware of current concerns within the local community and I’d like to assure the public that all incidents are being taken seriously and thoroughly investigated.

Arsonists have allegedly* ‘blown up’ far-right* activist Tommy Robinson’s car outside a hotel in Telford.

The former English Defence League* leader has claimed his vehicle was torched in the town by people determined to ‘silence him’.

JK Rowling Guardian: Claims paper pulled poll revealed as hoax
    https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/19820170.jk-rowling-guardian-claims-paper-pulled-poll-revealed-hoax/

‘A national newspaper has denied it closed a poll and removed it from its website after readers voted JK Rowling ‘Person of the Year 2021’.

The casual reader will of course think they didn’t pull it because Rowling was winning and the claim is a lie.

Nope: apparently it’s all false because it wasn’t actually a poll. It was The Guardian ‘inviting people to submit suggestions’.

But they still pulled it because she was winning.

The Left are like pathetic spiteful schoolboys whose first reaction to getting caught is to try to lie and cheat their way out.

And it’s a bit odd that they actually picked one person as the winner for the last one in 2019.

Looking at the ‘results’, it’s clear it was just an exercise for them to shove it home that they are very upset Musk won the Time award instead of some left-wing activist. They were very confident their readers would come up a list containing Greta, Rashford and all the others I see.

Two things are certain though : Musk would not appear and Rowling only appeared because they got found out. She stands out like a sore thumb in that list.
