    Storytelling always leads to distortion
    In last nights BBC4 prog about highwayman, the presenter spoke about how he found that 17th century highwaymen were always ruthless thugs.
    One thing was the people they robbed; the rich were often thoroughly corrupt themselves. So there wasn’t full public sympathy for the victims.
    Once the situation on the ground improved eg better roads, better guards etc. there were no more highwaymen in business.
    and then arose distorted tales and songs about highwaymen.
    Firstly all the tales became merged to be be about Dick Turpin
    eg was not actually the guy who road from London to York in one day, that was someone else.
    Secondly the highwaymen were portrayed as honourable and gentlemen. Since there were no more highwaymen, there was no day to day contradiction of this falsehood.
    Then eventually Hollywood gets hold of the tales and distorted them even more.

    We can see parallels in modern news storytelling in the way media portray the world how the want it to be, rather than ho it actually is.

    ‘Here, 27 simple words set the path to gun ownership in the US.

    The fact that the sentence does not make grammatical sense has only added fuel to the debate about what its true meaning is.

    Is the key part “a well regulated militia” – meaning that only people who belong to a militia should be armed? And if so, what constitutes a militia in the modern day? In 1791 it represented a group that armed itself against the British army.

    Is the key part instead “the people”? And if so, who are “the people”?’

    The sentence makes perfect grammatical sense…a US State has the right to keep an armed militia, and, each citizen is allowed to be armed…it is two intentions in one sentence…not hard at all to understand…unless you deliberately want to confuse the issue….as of course the anti-gun BBC does.

        Stats that come on Sunday were collected on Saturday
        but the registrars don’t work much at the weekend
        They’ll be back on Monday, so Tuesday’s tally will have a lot of catchup deaths.

      but by mid December they dropped to 20% and even touched 15%
      Now they are at 20%
      The 20s were lower than 10% once but they are back to about 20% now

The structure of the state is Panopticon-like, and life is scientifically managed F. W. Taylor-like. People march in step with each other and are uniformed. There is no way of referring to people except by their given numbers. The society is run strictly by logic or reason as the primary justification for the laws or the construct of the society.[5][6] The individual’s behaviour is based on logic by way of formulae and equations outlined by the One State.[7]
