Midweek 24th April 2024

The BBC has demonstrated its ‘anti English bias clearly today . St George’s’ day ? Really ? Compare with the other nations of the UK ….. clearly the BBC hates England – much prefers minority groups and religions – to the Traditions of the English . And you are still paying your licence fee ? Surely not …..

We awake this morning to news of: Broadcaster’s bias alert (FT)

Don’t imagine for a moment that this warning is aimed at our national broadcaster: Watchdog Ofcom warned channels about the importance of impartiality ahead of the general election after it reinforced rules for television broadcasters using politicians as presenters (FT) – clearly this a shot at the somewhat conservative voices aired on GB News, recently accused of having politicians acting as presenters of their news headline bulletins. Our BBC is more in the business of having their news presenters act as politicians.

One need only detail a couple of the more egregious examples

We recall George Galloway versus the BBC’s latterly litigious rogue female Martine Croxall: ‘Any need for me in this interview!?’ Galloway erupts at BBC ‘party political broadcast’ GEORGE GALLOWAY has erupted at a BBC reporter for pushing a “party political broadcast” during a heated interview ahead of the Batley and Spen by-election. (Daily Express 2021)

And how could we forget Emily Maitlis’ highly partizan soliloquies delivered from her BBC Newsnight stump? The highly bronzed one on this occasion made even BBC old stagers blanch: David Dimbleby criticises Emily Maitlis’ Newsnight monologue (Evening Standard, 2022)

    From containment to entertainment

BBC Proms to feature disco night and Florence + The Machine (BBC) – something tells me our BBC won’t be content until the Proms is indistinguishable from Glastonbury – ending in a rousing chorus of not Land of Hope and Glory – more Land of Hip Hop and Bhangra, and certainly not Jerusalem. One envisages the BBC’s ideal finale being a stirring rendition of F*** The Tories with guest conductor Channel 4’s Jon Snow, sung to the accompanyment of a hundred waving EU flags.

Mr AsI tends to note those emblematic state of the nation incidencies

Most popular press titles feature some version of the same startling photographic image frontpage: Five horses from the Household Cavalry, one covered in blood, rampaged through London yesterday morning leaving a trail of destruction in their wake (Telegraph)

And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth. (Revelation, 6 KJV)

    Sometimes these segueways write themselves

Ukraine war: US secretly gives Kyiv long-range missiles (BBC) – not all that secret, is it?

Jeremy Hunt defends civil service job cuts to increase defence spending (BBC) – this is a bizarre line of argument from a supposedly conservative chancellor: Mr Hunt confirmed the increase will cost an extra £20bn, which unions claim will be funded by cutting 70,000 jobs. (BBC) – a true fiscal conservative should argue that cutting back on the proliferation of civil service pen pushers is a good thing in itself – less regulation and some reduction of the heavy hand of the state on the economy would encourage entrepreneurship. Not to mention defence spending ought to prioritise the protection of our own borders and our own true interests ought to be the goal – rather than to toady to the US State Department’s misguided costly vendetta against Vladimir Putin and by the way defence of the Biden family money laundering operation

Civil servants shun their new offices… Taxpayers have been handed a multi million pound bill for new government offices despite large numbers of civil servants still working from home (Telegraph)

Girl arrested as three injured in Ammanford school stabbing… deputy head teacher Fiona Elias was among the injured. (BBC)

Armed with a flick-knife, the Year 9 pupil… Footage captured on a pupil’s phone showed heroic rugby teacher Darrel Campbell overpowering the assailant, restraining her in an armlock and pulling her back from one of the victims (Daily Mail) – Oh, so there is still some benefit in having one or two male teachers on hand in our schools – just in case.

Speaking outside the school, Supt Ross Evans said: “I would also ask that people do not speculate whilst there is a police investigation ongoing and to refer to official channels for updates.”… Dyfed-Powys Police are urging people not to share footage of the incident on social media or speculate about what happened (BBC)

Meanwhile: Nottingham attacks: Victim’s mum condemns ‘abhorrent’ police message… after one of its officers wrote a graphic post about the killings… shared on a force WhatsApp group was “abhorrent”… “When you say ‘a couple of students have been proper butchered’, did you stop to think (BBC)

There seems to be quite a pattern emerging here

Australian PM calls Elon Musk an ‘arrogant billionaire’ in row over attack footage… feud over X’s reluctance to remove footage of a church stabbing (BBC)

Anarcho-tyranny describes a situation where the state tyrannically or oppressively regulates citizens’ lives yet is unable or unwilling to enforce fundamental protective law.

    Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
    The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
    Are full of passionate intensity.
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

William Butler Yeats, The Second Coming, published in November 1920

On a lighter note: All you need to know about marshmallows (Daily Star)

On a far lighter note, as Mr AsI has forewarned, the left now eagerly look forward to a Tony Blair, Brit Pop and Cool Britannia redux

Emily Watkins writing opinion for the left-leaning i news is explicit: Labour majorities and the Spice Girls – it’s all a bit Cool Britannia in here. I’m cripplingly embarrassed for us, but I understand. Things are so bleak that when something even remotely cool happens, there’s nothing for it but to lean in… what with the ongoing cost of living crisis, 14 years of Tory government, and little chance of escaping to the continent post Brexit, it’s tempting to sigh wistfully and recall better times… “Cool Britannia”. Basically, it consisted of the Young British Artists (YBA) in visual art and Britpop in music, and then in 1997, after 17 years of Tory rule, we elected a Labour government.

And we all lived happily everafter.

Labour: We’ll nationalise rail in 5 years (Daily Mirror)

‘I’ll stay an MP for as long as I can’ Diane Abbott (Guardian)

Child drinkers rise in ‘generation lockdown’ – kudos to the Daily Telegraph there for refusing that old saw formulation: since the pandemic

And finally, our BBC is asking

    Do women-only co-working spaces have a future?

I don’t know. Are men-only clubs still allowed?

Top civil servant and MI6 boss quit all-male club… after a backlash for being part of a club that excludes women (BBC)

More moves are afoot to steal the sovereign wealth of Russia by the corrupt elites of the West.

Christine Lagarde has warned against the EU doing this for legal reasons, obviously not moral ones as she has no concept of morality.

The sanctions Russia could apply on Europe could be horrific, for its people, not for the elites of course, they will make sure they are unaffected up to the point they are dangled from the lamp posts.

The West is claiming it wants this money to rebuild Ukraine, and this is the evidence of the corruption laid bare. No one tries to rebuild a country whilst a war is still raging, it’s utter madness to try.

We need only look back to the corruption of Clinton and associates and the rebuilding of Haiti to see what lies behind all this. This is not a plan to rebuild Ukraine, it’s a plan for corrupt political elites to steal another countries sovereign wealth to enrich themselves and their friends.

Here is some of the corruption laid bare:

    https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2015/09/hillary-clinton-email-213110/

However the danger runs far deeper. The whole of the Wests legal structure is built on the notion of secure property ownership, breaking it in this way gives the elites the key to greater and more widespread property seizure.

If they can seize Russias assets then what’s to stop them seizing yours, and of course they will have invented a very good reason for needing to do so!

If you are a couple living in a four bed house, they might well decide that it would be more appropriate to move you into a one bed flat so your home can be used to house, homeless, ‘vulnerable’ refugees, illegal migrants etc.

State seizure of private assets without compensation is the first step towards Marxism, and it should be resisted at all costs. Please write to your MP before it’s too late!

Having disagreements, airing views, testing them is the way of freedom.
We must fight to preserve our freedoms and educate those who seek to cancel that freedom to air views they do not agree with, alas some of them post here.

This is something Jordan Peterson continually uses to emphasise why the Left with their cancel culture are so damn dangerous.
The lie the left always told about disagreeing with someones views but fighting to the death to defend their right to say it, when in reality they rolled over like a frightened kitten at the first threat.

There will be people who disagree with me on this issue, but the one thing we do have to fight against more than anything else is the “tellyscreen” on the wall which beams thoughts into peoples minds when they are tired and vulnerable, and which they then believe without question and don’t even realise where the notion came from !

Notice in the bBC article there is no mention of the male teacher who disarmed the knife wielding girl.

One wonders what is the purpose is of the absent wet police. They prevent no crime, shut down a school for their after-the-event investigation so ruining the education of hundreds of children, they cover up any details of what happened, like the Australian police they will want to suppress any videos that clearly showed what happened. Now we will have a pantomime of investigators in space suits going through the motions for days, millions of pounds wasted.

The public can be sure that they will never be shown a photo of the offender, or the name, or any details such as medication or family background.

This is all about maximising hysteria.

So, yet again, the pitifully useless Mark Rowley, leader of the once respected Met’ police, feels the need to make an obsequious and grovelling apology to Baroness Lawrence about how the police mishandled her son’s murder…of over thirty years ago…

What can he possibly find to say that is of any relevance? It’s just more toe-curling abasement. This creep makes my flesh crawl. He reminds me so much of Archbishop Welby (blimey, they even look alike) who constantly feels the need to apologise for the church’s links to historic slavery. Why? FFS, it’s hundreds of years ago. Move on.

On the other hand, the Met’ police chief defends the copper who confronted a London citizen because he looked “openly Jewish”.

And is there a month goes by when Tommy Robinson isn’t arrested, pepper sprayed and assaulted on some pathetic and spurious charge of being…(oh, let’s see) white and working class and in possession of opinions that are deeply unfashionable in certain circles?

That same corrupt organisation also breaks up St George’s Day celebrations and stops English folk displaying our national flag on our national saint’s day. And those patriotic English people are then smeared by Conservative MPs (yes!) as being thugs.

Meanwhile, militant Muzzies can rampage through the capital, desecrate war memorials, intimidate Jews and openly display swastikas and nothing happens.

Apparently the St George’s flag on St George’s Day is deeply troublesome, but someone openly displaying the Swastika and it’s all “a matter of context”.

‘Nadine Dorries criticised for sharing edited image of Sunak wielding knife’
‘Ministers have criticised Nadine Dorries for sharing a doctored image of Rishi Sunak wielding a knife behind Boris Johnson’s back.

The culture secretary retweeted an image of the PM depicted as Julius Caesar about to be stabbed in the back by Mr Sunak, in the role of Brutus.

Greg Hands said it was “dangerous”, while Sir Robert Buckland said it was “not just incendiary – it’s wrong”.’

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-62369858

    How times change…now if you talk of ‘back-stabbing’ it’s fine…passes without comment…as do the personal insults….if you’re a Labour politician doing it…..

‘ I read with interest that (Mr Dowden) has been urging his neighbour in No 10 to call an election because he’s worried they might get wiped out.

‘Has he finally realised that when he stabbed Boris Johnson in the back to get his mate into No 10 he was ditching their biggest election winner for a pint-sized loser?”

Complete lack of outrage and spittle-flecked commentary from the BBC et al as Rayner once again goes for the personal insult.

She managed to slip in two phrases that would normally have the BBC’s finest filling the airwaves with anguished moaning about the descent of politics into a dangerous gutter…this, they would tell us, is why no-one wants to be a politician if they have to face such levels of personal abuse and invective……but not today.

‘”I [of the Ginger Growler] won’t be letting their vile lies deter me. Their attempts to harass and intimidate me will fail.

“I hope this experience doesn’t put off a single person like me, with a background like mine from aspiring to participate in public life. That would break my heart.”‘

There was a time when talk of ‘stabbing’ would be a disgrace, dangerous to democracy and all that…and as for ‘pint-sized loser’….howls of dismay at such low invective.

How many times have we had to listen to BBC journo’s getting their knickers in a twist about a Tory making pointed comments? Indeed comments about Rayner…..

‘A newspaper’s suggestion that Angela Rayner tries to distract the prime minister by crossing her legs in the Commons was “an outrageous slur” and “sexist”, her constituents have said.’

The BBC goes all out of course on such stories when it wants to…

‘Angela Rayner row: Does Parliament have a problem with misogyny?’

Naturally that was targeted at Tories whom the BBC always tries to portray as ‘having a problem with women’.

However when it’s a Labour woman doing the abuse…..total silence.

    Odd huh?

The only mention I can find is a quick comment in the BBC live feed….

‘Rayner raised eyebrows with a very personal insult directed at the diminutive PM (“pint-sized loser”). ‘

Of course the BBC also edited a report on Rayner at the request of the Labour Party….no bias at all, really.

And that’s all folks….nothing to see here.

Curious how the BBC is not reporting on Ofsted but campaigning against it and weaponising Ruth Perry’s suicide in a highly cynical and shameless way to do it.

Ruth Perry clearly had personal mental health issues that led to her suicide but to blame it on Ofsted is highly political. To claim that they use a one word summary about a school’s performance is an absolute lie….there is a one word summary but it is backed up by a detailed report freely available on-line.

    Here’s Ruth Perry’s school report…

    https://files.ofsted.gov.uk/v1/file/50211729

You can criticise the report [let’s hope the boss of Ofsted doesn’t top themselves with all the negative criticism they get] because you could consider they chose to emphasise the wrong thing….you can see the school performance is generally good overall…and yet Ofsted decided that inadequate leadership concerning ‘safeguarding’ was the primary issue…and thus the school was ‘inadequate’….

    Overall effectiveness Inadequate
    The quality of education Good
    Behaviour and attitudes Good
    Personal development Good
    Leadership and management Inadequate
    Early years provision Good

I think Ofsted chose poorly on what to emphasise…and as for ‘safeguarding’ failures the report paradoxically says…

‘Pupils can discuss what a healthy and unhealthy relationship looks like and how to be a good friend. They know how to stay safe, including online….

….Pupils’ behaviour in lessons is exemplary. They love to learn and they relish the challenges that teachers provide. Pupils who struggle with their behaviour benefit from the pastoral care they receive from leaders and staff. ‘

Read the report and you might judge it is in fact a very good school other than the fact there are a small number of pupils whose behaviour is questionable…

‘During unsupervised times, including during wet playtimes, some older pupils make poor behaviour choices which go unnoticed and can put others at risk of harm. Overall, pupils’
attendance is very high, but there is a small group of pupils, including disadvantaged pupils, who are persistently absent. School leaders do not have robust processes in place to help these pupils attend school regularly.’

It is odd that this is the main take that Ofsted had on the school….the summary should, I belief, have been ‘Good’ with provisos about lack of supervision at times.

If that had been the final ‘word’ would anyone have complained about a ‘one word’ summary? No.

Yes Ofsted got it wrong but that’s hardly a reason to commit suicide….as said Ruth Perry must have had many other issues besides the Ofsted report and Ofsted cannot be expected to shape its reports so that no-one is upset by them…that just doesn’t work….there can be no prizes for everyone.

However the BBC thinks otherwise and is intent on helping the unions destroy any sort of scrutiny of their work at all….just as the BBC tries to stop all scrutiny and complaints about its own work.

PSA chief Carlos Tavares also said if a no-deal Brexit had serious consequences for the car group, there would be an ethical responsibility to protect employees outside the UK.

He said the firm would take “necessary decisions” regarding PSA’s UK plants.’

Looking to see if the BBC has headlined this latest dramatic piece of news as it did for Brexit comments by the same man…..

‘The net zero crackdown on combustion engines could force the maker of Vauxhall to pull out of Britain, its boss has warned.

Carlos Tavares, chief executive of Stellantis, said that a law to limit petrol car sales was “terrible for the UK” and would force manufacturers to sell vehicles at a loss.’

    Poor horses.

    Celine in WW1:
“They gave us a short rest, and a few weeks later we climbed back up on our horses and started north. The cold came with us. The gunfire was never far away. But we never came across any Germans except by accident, a hussar or a squad of riflemen here and there, in yellow and green, pretty colors. We seemed to be looking for them, but we beat it the moment we laid eyes on them. At every encounter two or three horsemen bit the dust, sometimes theirs, sometimes ours. And from far in the distance their riderless horses, with loose clanking stirrups, would come galloping toward us, we’d see their saddles with the peculiar cantles and all their leather as fresh and shiny as pocketbooks on New Year’s Day. They were coming to see our horses, they made friends in no time. They were lucky. We couldn’t have done that.”

The bbc have an article running “Shoplifting hits record high in England”. I wasn’t sure what a shoplifter looks like, but fortunately there’s a helpful picture. A typical shoplifter is a young white female, shoving a nice bottle of wine into her designer handbag.
Without the guidance, I would have thought that shoplifters were gangs of n199ers, average IQ 60 or so, with machetes (Or worse), taking what they want while the fuzz rehearse their tiktok moves outside. How wrong can you be?
I despair at the bbc; who do they think they are fooling?

Did anyone happen to listen to Newshour on Radio 4 tonight, and a ridiculous piece of propaganda on Venice having a tourist tax of 5 euros day, for day-trippers.

They just HAD to end it by their “reporter” saying that the new tax didn’t address the most important issue facing Venice, “CLIMATE CHANGE!”

Simply ridiculous lies. Venice themselves had said it’s the 80,000+ who visit each day.

    • moggiemoo says:

Of course it’s climate change, think of all the farts from those 80,000 visitors and the amount of methane they generate each day, it must be local warming on a colossal scale. That, or it’s utter crap.

In Old Speak climate change used to be referred to as Global Warming. Or a little later Global Boiling. The climate has always changed. Could that be a reason why we are no longer part of the main European land mass which “experts” have assured us was once the case?
At 84 years of age I have seen no change in the rather checkered pattern in our British seasonal changes.
Strange thing is that the requests from the climate armholes to cut our emissions seems only to apply to the affluent West so I must be forgiven for thinking that there is some sort of conspiracy afoot.

Some economic news from across the pond, none of it good.

Why is it relevant to this site? Because the chances are this isn’t going to be reported at all, but if it is it probably won’t be reported correctly.

Two important stats released today, US GDP which was lower the expectations, and PCE Personal Core Expenditure which was higher than expected.

On top of that the trade defecit increased to the highest in 11 months.

Falling GDP and rising inflations are the path to stagflation, the most destructive economic force known.

On top of that bond yields are being driven ever higher which means the cost of borrowing for the government rises. By the end of the year the cost of servicing the debt will higher than both defence, and medicare.

It gets worse, because government borrowing and spending should at least equal GDP. Put simply if you put ‘3’ in, you should get ‘3’ out, ideally according to Keynes you should get more out as the cash stimulates the economy, but in America instead of getting ‘3’ out they are getting ‘2’ which again points to stagflation.

It also makes it much more difficult to lower the base rate.

Although the figures are not hugely adrift from expectations, they all, together indicate an economy in serious trouble, only being propped up by enormous government borrowing and spending.

I haven’t given any links because I doubt people are going to be interested enough to use them.

Now you know todays horror show, and will be aware of the reality should you hear it reported on the media.

Keynsianism just doesn’t work any more. It is meant to stimulate the economy, but since we produce very little these days, the money just goes to China. Thus, for every pound spent on “stimulus”, we get back less than a pound in economic growth. There is no multiplier effect.

      • Eddy Booth says:

Seems to be always the same people who get the majority of the stimulus cash, and they’ve already got everything they want.
Even now they’re itching to cut interest rates again.

      • Thoughtful says:

Ah, well two problems there, firstly Keynsianism has been completely distorted by Socialists to mean run a defecit constantly. It was supposed to be that money was pumped into the economy in recessions and then paid back again in the boom times thus smoothing the economic cycle.

Secondly Biden is not following Keynsian economics but something else called modern monetary theory which states a government can simply create currency without any consequence to the economy.

It’s a ridiculous theory but you can see how attractive it would be to a Socialist to be told they can print and spend as freely as they please.

        • Rob in Cheshire says:

Keynes hated the gold standard because he wanted governments to be able to create money. But giving that power to governments is like giving whisky to a child. It can never end well. That is why £1 today is worth 1/20th of a £1 in 1960. In effect, a pound is worth a shilling. That did not happen by accident.

Furthermore, Keynes claimed that government spending should be counter cyclical, running deficits in recessions, and surpluses in recoveries, but that never happens. Governments become hooked on spending money, and spending programmes are very easy to start and very hard to stop.

In short, Keynsianism is an illusion. It does work.

    And that’s that….

‘The BBC has admitted that its reporting of “civilian” casualties in Gaza was inaccurate and included the deaths of Hamas fighters.

A report on BBC One’s News at Ten bulletin on Jan 14 covered a vigil in Tel Aviv marking 100 days since the Oct 7 attacks on Israel.

Reporter Wyre Davies said two minutes into the report: “And the number of civilians killed in Gaza has been huge – very nearly 24,000 dead, according to the Hamas-run health ministry, many of them women and children.”

The BBC’s editorial complaints unit upheld a complaint from a viewer, finding that the report “fell below the BBC’s standards of accuracy”.’

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/contact/ecu/bbc-news-10pm-bbc-one-14-january-2024

So the BBC falsely reported casualty figures…presenting them as nearly all civilian….but are the numbers accurate in themselves?

And what happens now? A swift apology hidden away or a sweeping reassessment of their coverage and how they report? Don’t hold your breath….we’re still waiting for the Balen Report to be released 20 years on….presumably so incendiary are its findings, so damning of the BBC, that the BBC won’t release it.

Hamas figures are their own ficticious ‘total’. They do not differentiate between civilians and terrorists. Which I suppose is because the dividing line is so thin. A fact the BBC never mention.

Isn’t it amazing how these things arew ALWAYS in favour of the BBC agenda.

Which is evidence enough that they are blatant, deliberate lies.

Yet nothing more is ever said about it and we get an apology on a page nobody reads. Any apology should be given the same weight as the original article. So if it was front-page headline for a week, so should the apology.

Almost five years to the day since violence flared on Oldham’s Limeside estate, 24 men have been brought to justice

That title implies that TR and supporters are the violent baddies
the article carries on in that tone
Then it finally gets to names
a few Anglo names who mostly say they aren’t TR supporters
and a load of Muslim names

BTW the first title is wrong too
cos although the 24 convictions speak of jail terms
    they are almost all suspended

Harvey Weinstein’s 2020 rape conviction overturned in New York
    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-68899382

It was obvious from the start that Weinsteins ‘casting couch’ was where beautiful women traded sex for parts in films. Hollywood is the nastiest, most ethically barren place on Earth. The women were just as guilty as Weinstein. The whole thing was about hasbeens getting money. I wonder if they will have to pay it back.

One thing which was 100% certain for Weinstein is that there was no way he could get a fair trial. The #metoo, far-Left mob made sure of that (with the MSM being the way they did it, BBC most definitely in the front of the pack).

Nobody DARE even suggest he was not guilty. Just imagine you were on the jury with the possibility the mob would find out if you voted ‘innocent’. Your life would become hell with hate mail an death threats from these nasty hypocrites.

It was EXACTLY that same for the George Floyd trial and it’s the same again for the Trump trials. The fascists on the Left have made a mockery of justice because the MSM have become infested with left-wing activists.

We are gradually re-running the 1930’s with the script being re-written on the fly for the modern age where the vehicle has moved from the gun to the pen and control of information. But make no mistake, the Nazis are back.

I know that because the BBC repeat it FOUR times in the article.

Interestingly he is called a ‘terror suspect’ in the article but even though he has been found guilty, the BBC still don’t call him a terrorist.

GBNews viewers have been polled and the results are truly strange. The poll puts Labour 11% ahead of the Conservatives, among GBNews viewers. The thing that makes me doubt the poll is that regarding the ECHR, 49 per cent of viewers think the UK should remain a member but 36 per cent disagree and 15 per cent are unsure. That seems very contrary to what I believe to be the average profile of GBNews viewers.
I’m not sure but I think the poll might be drawn from the GBNews membership, those motivated enough to support GBNews. Has the membership been stacked by Labour in a Trojan horse operation?
