Weekend 26 March 2022

Lord Michael Grade of Yarmouth is being nominated as the new Chair of BBCOFCOM . Does that mean it will be less of a ‘friend ‘ to the BBC and adopt a more challenging approach to its’ bias ?
Or will it be same old same old ?

I saw Amy Cony Barrett being questioned prior to her appointment. She was on top of her brief and impressive. She was a Trump nomination.

Ketanji Brown Jackson is a Biden nomination. I have been watching the questioning. I will just say she isn’t as impressive.

I read that it is getting popular within a section of our vibrant young males of adopting the tactic of violently mugging older men, particularly if they see them using cash points.

Maybe this calls for a revival of the training given to older chaps in the home guard during the war who might need to deal with paratroopers.

Evening classes in aggressive self defence, carrying extendible legal night sticks and knuckle dusters and learning the art of disabling and nullifying an opponent. All of course only ever used for self protection under attack.

Not of course 303’s with bayonets but enough persuasion to put them off their stride and possibly into ICU.

Perhaps the possibility of facing such determined response might dissuade these “brave” young chaps from trying it on in the first place.

My Dad taught me that in the absence of a handy tool in this situation, a fistful of coins allows you to deliver a pretty persuasive response to the chin.

I for one am determined that if confronted by one of these animals I would endeavour to inflict as much damage as possible in self defence regardless of the physical injury caused to them,

‘Fake Ukrainians’ pretending to be refugees in bid to pocket cash from charitable pedestrians

People on the streets of Brussels are pretending to be Ukrainian refugees, reports Politico.

These ‘fake Ukrainians’ ask for €200 from sympathetic pedestrians.

It came as a furious war of words has erupted between the Government and Labour over the UK’s treatment of people fleeing Ukraine.

The mention of fake Ukrainian refugees has me thinking of our intake of boat people and Putin’s failure to take Ukraine.

Suppose Putin sent around 500 Russians of military age posing as refugees into Ukraine every day. Let it run for a while as the numbers increase, and then assist them into key places in Ukrainian politics, institutions etc. Soon he will have Ukraine without losing his soldiers.
      It could even happen here

So it looks like Creepy Joe is calling for regime change in Russia. That surely is a step too far. I’m not sure the people of the West want to sign up for that. It might be a desirable outcome but I think it’s a suicidal tactic when dealing with a nuclear power. Basically that was a stupid remark by a sick old man.
The trouble is Boris is relishing in his role of being the most outspoken western leader. Will he go along with this or will he want to go one step further? He is after all a prize idiot a lot of the time.

The consequence of which was more desperate killing because it wasn’t thought through . If putin thinks his only exit is via total regime change it could edge him closer to using nuclear weapons …. Although I still reckon there’d be a sane mind in the Russian military ready to stop it ….it’s happened before …

    PLAYING ON THE HEART STRINGS

A few days ago Look North had an item about food banks. It was clearly a part of the BBC’s barrage of criticism of Rishi Sunak’s budget. As it happens I have some sympathy with them about the budget, but what Look North did was disingenuous to say the least. The food bank item had sad music in the background, all the way through, as we watched poor people selecting food. Now this is a news programme remember, not a fictional drama. The only reason for using music is to elicit an emotional response in the viewer. It is not acceptable for a news programme to attempt to sway the emotions (and thus the political views) of the audience by the use of music. News programmes are supposed to present an unbiased account of events, and then leave us to decide what we think about them, not to attempt to alter our opinion.

Why the stupid Tories make people who genuinely qualify wait weeks and weeks for benefits continues to amaze me. A spectacular own goal. Like such people would have 6-8 weeks savings to tie them over while the Department for Paper Clip administration works from home. Like such people are masters of budgeting and planning.
I don’t think so. Ergo food banks, a necessity because of the ‘evil Tories’ but in reality the stupid Tories for not paying benefits weekly and housing benefit straight to the relevant landlords.

Since the BBC knows that the next king is an old half wit with no connection to the ordinary townie types I reckon they’ll feel on save ground with increased criticism .

The current ‘royal correspondent ‘ – Jon dymond ? Was at pains to rubbish the latest visit by another future king with plenty of jibes about the past and the historic position of coloured folk in the colonies .

I’d say ordinary British people have been more that punished by having them imported to Blighty by various governments without any consent at all … personally I don’t feel the need to be ‘enriched ‘.

Anyway – as the commonwealth finally falls apart with various tin pot ‘countries ‘ running to the door of independence – wanting our hand outs – I hope maybe Blighty can stop trying to be a ‘global power’ and becomes a more self contained country ….

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10656005/MAIL-SUNDAY-COMMENT-Stop-cultural-cringe-proud-abolishing-slavery.html

And then start asking the muslims questions, and the Indians:

According to the 2018 Global Slavery Index, 40.3 million people were enslaved worldwide in 2016. India accounts for almost 8 million or 20%, making it the largest absolute contributor to modern slavery. This typically involves bonded labour, child labour, forced marriage, human trafficking, forced begging, among others.

The existence of slavery, especially child slavery, in South Asia and the world has been alleged by various non-governmental organizations (NGO) and media outlets. With the Bonded Labour (Prohibition) Act 1976 and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (concerning slavery and servitude), a spotlight has been placed on these problems in the country. One of the areas identified as problematic is granite quarries.

Navigate the Global Slavery Index maps and data sets covering prevalence, vulnerability, and government response in full detail.

Also, in addition to examining where modern slavery is perpetrated, this edition exposes where the products of crime are sold and consumed. The importing risk maps show the top five at-risk products imported by G20 countries.

I switched the TV on for a few minutes while having breakfast, big mistake.

This small minority of our population, and for those wondering, not a single Chinese, not a single Japanese, or Hindu or or anything else but blacks, adverts and progrmmes, blacks washing their cars, blacks mowing the lawn and some soap opera with the occasional white woman.

I drove around Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire for half a day yesterday, visiting a few villages and woodlands. saw many people but guess what colour / race they were ?

God only knows what these people, part of the 86% WHITE people, whos fathers and grandfathers fought for this country and worked their whole lives, built the roads, the schools and all else we see, think of this propoganda.

Where is their represetation in the media, this 86% ?

The worse thing about this government is their appeasement to this howling mob, The same howling mob who, in London, spat on and abused white drivers caught up in their rioting and looting, in plain view of police.

I despair this weak, ever apologising country in the face of a mob who would not think twice of making you unemployed or worse for your colour and race.

Call this the administration alteration or following the rules edition

Reverse ferret is a phrase used predominantly within the British media to describe a sudden reversal in an organisation’s editorial or political line on a certain issue. Generally, this will involve no acknowledgement of the previous position. The term originates from Kelvin MacKenzie’s time at The Sun‘ – thank you Wiki. We note the snarky side swipe at our Kelvin and the Sun courtesy of the increasingly right-on formerly crowd-sourced and free from corporate control internet resource.

As it happened: Vladimir Putin ‘cannot stay in power’, Biden says‘ (BBC)

‘Biden not seeking Russia regime change – White House‘ (BBC)

Let’s rephrase regime change. Too many negative associations… how about administration alteration?

Enough from the he said / she said… to the news, hopefully…

Compulsory, enforced migration? They used to call that slavery.

International nurses in UK forced to pay if they quit‘ – frets the Observer: ‘…trapped in their jobs by clauses in their contracts that require them to pay thousands of pounds if they try to leave

Sounds like a cause for concern

In extreme cases…‘ – which – quite naturally of course – the Observer highlights for effect: ‘…nurses are tied to their roles for up to five years and face fees as steep as £14,000 if they want to change job or return home early

We do often hear that health care is sadly understaffed and often overwhelmed. And we do live by the rule of law, by which our society tends to enjoy protections we easily take for granted – such as the enforcibility of legal and commercial contracts, voluntarily entered into. But I guess we also enjoy the freedom to moan: it’s not fair – when we change our minds or our circumstances alter.

The Observer notes: ‘The Royal College of Nursing and human rights lawyers‘ – are on the case.

Why would both the private health sector and our NHS act so cruelly toward – admittedly foreign mercenary – health workers?

Seems – as even the Observer has to concede – these contracts are: ‘Designed to retain staff and recoup recruitment costs, they often cover hiring expenses, such as flights to the UK, visas and the fees for taking language and competency exams. In many cases thay also include the costs of mandatory training, which workers hired in the UK are not routinely required to pay‘ – oh, the humanity!

Nurses affected by the repayment terms, many of whom served on the frontline of the pandemic…‘ – I think, this is where I will have to leave it. I’m about to weep real tears – and my porridge doesn’t want the excess salting – what with: ‘Clocks went forward by an hour last night‘ (the Observer there, piling on our woes with a trowel, this Sunday)

Joe Lycett. The comic campaigner’s serious side‘ (Observer) – here we go… I note the likes of Ken Dodd, Ronnie Barker or Dave Allen (to pick three at random, each of whom may have had their serious moments) never felt the need to add the term “campaigner” to their preforming résumé

The weekday sidekick to the Observer and shadow inspiration to our very own national broadcaster’s cultural outlook and political temperament, the Guardian, tells us of Joe Lycett: ‘I’d never have made it in the corporate world’: Joe Lycett on comedy, consumer activism and queer communities

He did some gag on Twitter (of course he did – he dare not stand in front of a live audience on a stage… not during Lockdown anyway) which stirred things up over “Partygate“:

“I write comedy sometimes as a way of anger,” he began. He was angry, he said, because his friend had died in lockdown, “and I wasn’t there because I was following the rules, and we had a tiny insufficient funeral, because we were following the rules, and I drove his kids away from that funeral back to Birmingham without any sort of wake, because we were following the rules, and it felt unnatural and cruel and almost silly, but we did it because we followed the rules.” He ended quietly: “You might wonder how it feels to have been described in the papers as having caused these people ‘chaos’ and ‘mayhem’ and ‘mass panic’ because of a few jokes. Let me be clear: it feels absolutely fucking fantastic.”

To me, his shtick is best described not as “comedy” as such, but as political satire at best and at worst as snarky political activism that our actual politicians likely wish they could get away with – if House of Commons rules, election campaign conventions and common public decency didn’t still still prohibit – just about.

Unfortunately, they had that foul mouthed Beatles karaoke thug from Oasis supporting who croaked his out of tune way through an embarrassing set interspersed with fooking this and fookin that. Dreadful.

Yes, Bob Geldorf has a lot to answer for when back in the 80’s he said on air “give us the f…. money ! ” Classy.

Have tickets for the Manfreds in April. Paul Jones is 80 EIGHTY !!!, still has the figure of his youth, his voice has changed little, still has a boyish head of hair, and with the group gives a fab evening of entertainment. Few chaps can be 80 and still fanciable 🙂

Nice chap, met him outside Dingwalls in London having a fag before playing onstage in the Blues Band back in the 70s or maybe early 80s, had a nice chat.

I did curse them later though, they came onstage at 11 pm and I missed the last train home, spent the evening at Kings Cross, not for the feint of heart in those days…

The zelenski fella in Ukraine is getting more outspoken – he seems to want to save his country at the expenses of a world war – but I suppose the Russians will kill him sooner or later ….

Ukraine is not worth a single British life yet alone a world war ….
By the way – someone kill putin real soon – use his poison on him ….

Zelensky was an actor/comedian so he has just continued playing a character he thinks will make him more popular.

Zelensky needs to come out of this smelling sweet at whatever cost as his career is omnipotent to him.

If that means consigning the planet to armaggedon I think he is comfortable with that as long as his career follows an upward trajectory.

So we have a mouthy actor trying his best to get Russia into a nuclear war with The West whatever the cost to humanity and we now have Biden and Boris almost cheering from the audience.

I note that Germany and France seem to be keeping out of it. perhaps they have the sense realise that they will be recipients of the first wave of nukes?

The way I look at it, the only way for the West to deal with this impasse is to first accept that the Russians may have some kind of point however much they disagree and get round as table to discuss it?

I guess they feel that the Wokerati have already decided that Russia is now cancelled so they have to play along to avoid the tome deaf lefty nutters taking umbrage.

I hear that Ed Sheeran is the latest one wanting to do his bit for Ukraine.

He’s offered to go to Kiev and play a free concert to them.

However, the Mayor of Kiev has stopped it and said the people of Kiev have suffered enough.

The BBC getting very haughty and indignant about the police strip-searching a black pupil in school.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-60888317

The whole article is loaded on the damage it caused to the person searched.

However there is no question raised about WHY these searches take place as the police attempt to stem the tide of drugs and violence caused by gangs trying to infiltrate schools to get new “customers”.

This surely must be one of those “balanced” things?

On the one hand there will be understandable distress caused to any innocent child but on the other hand if overall it makes life more difficult for the evil gangmasters who deliberately target schools and possibly save numerous children from being sucked into drug-taking that must play a part in the decision making?

I am pretty sure that the police haven’t been doing this sort of thing just for something to do.

All I would ask is for the BBC to do their job and investigate how many children are actually found to be carrying drugs to add some sort of balance but that is NOT the BBC way, they need another race victim to bang their incessant race drum.

Finally this legal speak defines the situation which appears to have applied in this case.

“Headteachers and staff authorised by them have a statutory power under the Education and Inspections Act 2006 to search pupils or their possessions, without consent, where they have reasonable grounds for suspecting the pupil may have a ‘prohibited item’, which includes illegal drugs. School staff can seize any prohibited item found as a result of a search. They can also seize any item, however found, which they consider harmful or detrimental to school discipline (eg, so called legal highs)”.

This appears to suggest that the search was entirely proportionate and proper.

So a pertinent question NOT asked by the BBC is did this school have any such “reasonable grounds” and what were they?

This inclusion alone would have given the article a sense of balance at least but it just doesn’t happen in BBC land.

Race is the most protected characteristic that exists to BBC types.

Notice how details are developing on this nonsense – such as that the plod who were stupid enough to do the search were female … do we find out that there are coloured – does that change the ‘complexion ‘ or narrative if so ?

Cue the mumma asking why their little Leroy died because of drugs he took ? Why wasn’t he stopped ? – this being from 2 years ago of course – the ‘legal team ‘ must be dreaming of £ …

In an earlier post I satirised the Hollywood wokerati by imagining the politically correct winner of an award who would be deaf.

    If only.
We could also get a gay black best supporting actress not to mention Will Smith, surely a shoe-in for best black actor.

Then of course we have Jane Campion, a rare female director.

As for straight white males winning anything in proportion to their percentage of the population – you know, we might call it equality……..look! A flying pig!

#1 The PO Ferry service to Rotterdam
“In Hull, RMT protesters attempted to block access to the Pride of Rotterdam, but it did leave on time
earlier the TUC tweeted a video showing P&O dockers in Rotterdam refusing to load a ferry leaving to Hull”

That makes it sound like there are protests in 2 places against 2 different ferries on the same day.

In fact the TUC tweet sent on Saturday breakfast was filmed on Friday and involved the same ferry the Pride of Rotterdam
which did actually leave Rotterdam on Friday night to Hull carrying some freight.

BBC R4 7 a.m. NEWS Watch #1 – the gratuitous violence of a gratuitous insult to millions of American voters

The R4 News at 7 a.m. led with China Joe’s ‘off-script’ gaffe and said it signified US involvement on the world stage after four years of isolationism under President Trump. Apart from the total inaccuracy of that statement by the BBC which the BBC did not realise insulted millions of US voters – both Republican and Democrat voters – they then had to follow their faux pas with ….

TWotWeee Watch #1 – what an embarrassment!

BBC News at 1 p.m. on R4 led with someone in the Biden Administration (sorry forgotten who it was – may have been Antony Blinken) having to explain that the President was not encouraging regime change ie. interfering in another sovereign nation’s electoral affairs but merely expressing the wish that Russia would leave Ukraine and leave Ukraine alone.

(Note for Auntie suffering from forgetfulness: Back in the winter of 2016/2017 you were worried about North Korea starting to test missiles (ICBMs) that they ‘claimed’ could hit America. You were worried that there might be a military incident either with the US or with South Korea or Japan. What did the isolationist US then President Trump do? He went on a Far East tour, charmed the socks off the N.Korean dictator, brought N.Korea and S.Korea together to talk and then former President Trump went off to Japan to continue his highly successful Far East tour. Isolationist USA? Not a bit of that is true.)
