TWotWeeee Watch #1 – just because he can

I have commented before on how the BBC are quite hypocritical about interference in elections and other polls, happy to do it themselves but especially highly critical if someone else that the BBC do not like does it or the winner of the election or poll is not one that carries the BBC’s stamp of approval. The Naughty Naughtie was surprisingly (Ed S should have been presenting) in charge of today’s programme and as a Scot (in Edinburgh at Festival time) was busy interfering in the Conservative Party’s search for a new leader.

    Disgraceful.

A groundbreaking BBC documentary to be aired on Wednesday

    Presenter Hannah Fry
    Executive Producer Craig Hunter
    Executive Producer Jo Roe
    Series Producer Robert McCourt
    Director Afi Khan
    Director Emily Codling
    Director Eddie Hutton-Mills
    Production Company STV Studios

In this timely, eye-opening investigation commissioned by BBC Factual for BBC Two and BBC iPlayer, due to air on Wednesday 20 July at 9pm, Professor Hannah Fry seeks to understand why eight percent of the population remain unvaccinated against Covid-19.

Another tellystruck academic on the BBC …. whatever next? (She definitely seems to spend more time on BBC premises these days than in academia – is she the new Carol Voordermann?)

I wonder if she’ll mention the near complete lack of efficacy measured for mRNA against the Omicron fmily of bugs? – I’d guess not.

I’d pay more attention to David Spiegelhalter – but he seems to not care to be scripted / have words put in his mouth by the producers…

From the write-ups and PR it looks like a simplistic monstering of a few young dimwits.

        In other words BBC SOP.

On such an important topic there should be more of a write up.

It’s infotainment – of a sort – but actually with a an outgunned setup of victims whose (carefully chosen?) daft beliefs we can guffaw at and scoff.

As dishonest as it is contrived…

I’d really like to be proved wrong – but I feel that rather than judging this book by it’s cover – we’ve seen snippets enough and PR enough to see a hatchet job on some lambs blinded by the telly headlights…

I wonder if they’ve invited some experts that do not agree … settled science it will be – BBC style.

elsewhere the tellystruck academics are out today.

The originally estimable Jim al Khalili out and about trying imho to turn science into an election process.

Disappointed in the man – since there’s so much to communicate about nuclear power and electricity and all, where his expertise lies – he chooses to go down the “if we don’t burn the heretics were doomed” path…

Is working for the BBC as a specialist a Faustian pact? – it rather looks like it.

Breezes in lots of parts of Lincolnshire today
I must be outside the hot zone

ITV local news starts off with Skegness item
Female reporter her hair is flying around as she tries to talk up the heat.
    – They just had a black family on the beared dad doesn’t seem bothered
the reporter is in glee about his ebony kids dressed in Beau Geste desert caps with the draped fabric
    – Next the guy selling £1 waters, he’s supposed to be the good guy.

This morning I made all the preparations, then the curtain I’d draped outside the patio doors started flapping in stronger than predicted breeze.
Went to the lunchtime car boot sale… I was cooler than last week, cos the sun mostly stayed behind clouds.
Occasionally it would break through for a few mins
Came back up the hill on a bike , no big sweat.
4pm to the shop ..breeze even stronger

I got the fan out of the loft but I haven’t switched it on yet.

Yep its certainly not Singapore here
      7pm biked to next village
      ..nope not sweating
still wearing long sleeved shirt to protect skin
but didn’t need the wide brimmed hat
As I said last Sunday I needed the anti-glare sunglasses, but cloud today meant I hardly put them on.

I just looked at Scampton observations
      seems it’s been warmer

Scunthorpe’s observations are similar to here
but we are already a few degrees cooler
cos we are rural and straight onto fields bring a constant breeze from the south
Forecast now says breeze will be all night.

There’s a Facebook post for a nearby village saying how people enjoyed the open gardens day. A similar event in Surrey was cancelled
      due to Hot-mageddon fears

In a gap year I worked on a cattle ranch in a Texas. 100+ Fahrenheit daily. Digging post holes.

Full gear. Boots for rattlers, jeans, full sleeve shirt, kneckerchief, hat.

Came back with maybe a pit stain.

Singapore I needed a shower leaving the MRT to walk to the office.

Like a complete muppet I listened to the endless warnings about today’s weather. “It’s going to be 90 degrees plus in the London area”, the BBC warned me. “Don’t travel unless you absolutely have to. Take plenty of water.” Then there were the maps of Blighty coloured in a dangerous crimson hue. Blimey, I thought, is it worth it?

So, instead of nipping up to Regent’s Park and enjoying a couple of hours listening to the lovely restful drones of a brass band, I stayed at home, sheltering in my living room. What a plonker…

As it turned out the weather has been pleasantly warm, sunny with a gentle and refreshing breeze, but certainly nothing like the 90 degrees plus of burning Hell we were threatened with.

What ever these idiots say I’ll make sure I attend next weekend.

It will probably be pissing down…

Forget Freedom of Movement from the EU, forget Easy Movement from Labour … we now have Human mobility from Dimitris Avramopoulos (European commissioner for migration) ….

Dimitris Avramopoulos, the European Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, recently published a startling opinion, advocating for more immigration as an inescapable reality to which European citizens should just adapt without any further discussion.

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/11698/mass-migration-european-commission

. . How does this stack up with Theresa May’s idea that . .

Currently the UK government is planning to deport some male asylum seekers to Rwanda. The decision is sad. Migrants have made hideous sacrifices to get secure lives in this country. I have seen what the voyage in the dark looks like.

    ….

We have called out abuses by all sides to the conflict and committed more than £75 million of aid to those affected in the Afar, Amhara and Tigray regions. The UK is committed to working with all actors in northern Ethiopia to bring the conflict to a close and to promote long-term peace and development.1 Apr 2022
