It’s a sad day when ITV play the same games as the BBC.
On News at Ten, the whingeometer is racked up to max.

A guy from the North East (weird- the BBC were in Sunderland today), is complaining about his energy bill. He is sat on his sofa. In a tee shirt !!!!!!!! Here’s an idea. Turn the thermostat down and wear a jumper.

An elderly man complained he can no longer save anything. He is 86!!!!!! What is he saving for? A mortgage deposit?

A pleasant black lady is whingeing. She is a single mother on benefits. She claims the eat or heat dilemma.
Why is she a single mum? Why did she decide to have a child that she could not support? Where is the father? What is he contributing? No questions asked.

How many more like her pay nothing in and demand and expect to take lots out of the system. And the BBC, ITV and MSM seem to positively radiate support for the magic money tree.

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

I’m sitting here, reading about the disaster in the HoC, Senora O’Blene is unwell upstairs, it’s our Golden Wedding Anniversary on Friday, our lovely ‘new’ dog has to go to be spayed on Monday, Liz Truss isn’t doing what I wanted her to do, we have loads of Albanians and other illegals crashing through our Kent countryside, and it’s a year since the same Senora O’Blene nearly handed in her chips – at the same time that our dear little Jack Russell died in front of us. My wife had fantastic care in Tunbridge Wells Hospital, I couldn’t have asked for anything more as they were so dedicated and also incredibly knowledgeable in a very tricky situation.

But on the upside, we fixed our electricity account for two years last year, we have all the wood we’ll need to burn for a whole winter, from our turgid collection of pallets from a local building site! I’ve planted fifty bulbs of garlic, and I’ve also cleaned all the carpets in the house with a fabulous new machine, and they look fantastic! I stubbed out my last glass of red a couple of hours ago, and wish I hadn’t called it the last one…

And the bloody BBC have an arsehole of a presenter calling a Member of Parliament a c**t!

Aren’t we British Citizens lucky to have such a positive life ahead of us!

Next ….. ensure to replenish wine store, the wood store is clearly ok. Direct your anger at Channel 4 Krishnan Guru-Murthy who said the C word.

Accomplished ….. A spot of gardening – done, a spot of domestic – done. Finished off the wine – done done done.

Its what you can control that matters. Everything else is a soap opera that we’re all watching together through our fingers.

Hopefully they’ll fight the globalist scum that have infected our lands.
Russia seems to have a plan in Ukraine, but I’m not whet it is.
They’ve gone martial law in Kherson province and are moving citizens out of the areas capital, at least the left bank of Dnieper river, side of the city.
Either it’s for the peoples safety because there’s a huge counter offensive from Ukrainians heavily armed by NATO, on the way.
Or Russia just want the houses to lodge a few hundred thousand soldiers in, nice and cosy for the winter, and handy for popping over to Odessa and Nicoliav when they choose.

With our media, it’s impossible to know what is going on. All we can do is wait and see what happens next. NATO and the USA are in it up to their eyeballs and the bear got poked so hard, it looks like the game has changed to all out war.

But it was certainly not a good idea to hit that bridge then gloat about it on TV. I wonder if it was Zelensky’s idea or instruction from the USA to escalate things.

The biggest losers in this are the people of Ukraine – and they don’t seem to be a factor in what either side is doing.

As I’ve commented here before – I worked with a crew of Ukrainians back in 2014 – a tiny sample, but they were unanimous that the primary political blocs were simply criminals + nutters, best avoided where possible.

Post Soviet Russia has its problems but the antics of Brussels EAS and Yanquis fomenting conflict makes one wonder what the overall ends sought are = keep the wheels on the military industrial complex , grab Russian natural resources , have a corruption sandpit where western taxes can be milked (Bidens et al)

It’s notable that with the paucity of real reporting there is a near complete absence of evidenced analysis as to aims/outcomes – but there seems to be an assumption that regime change can be imposed on Russia. Useful I feel to think about the positions being inverted….

But I don’t think that time has come yet .

Don’t get me wrong – I dream of a government with the outlook mr farage has – and I’d go further – taking on the NHS – green crap – the border would be controlled – by any means necessary – including a fight with France …

“Electronic Shortage Could Continue Through 2023 Even with Cooling Demands – October 14, 2022

To be or not to be, that is the question. No, this isn’t a rendition of Hamlet’s famous monologue, but with how shortage updates change, it’s ironically close.

Speculation on when the electronic shortage is expected to end has been going on since it started. Industry leaders, such as Pat Gelsinger of Intel, in 2021 saw stabilization in late 2022 and early 2023. In early 2022, the war in Ukraine broke out and China locked down from Covid-19 outbreaks. The supply chain was too fragile from disruptions over 2021 to withstand such blows.

Now in Q3 2022, the topic of the semiconductor shortage ending is again in flux. Some experts see cooling demand for components as a good sign the shortage might even end before 2022 is over. Others, such as Carlos Tavares of Stellantis, think we’re only halfway through the shortage. That the end will come in 2024.

What is more likely, 2023 or 2024? The shortage’s end really depends on the industry you’re in. ‍
South Korea Slashes Chip Production Output ‍

For the first time in four years, South Korea experienced a decline in semiconductor output from its factories. In August, production slipped 1.7%, a massive shock to the 17.3% gain it saw in July. Chip inventories in contrast soared up to 67.3% as factory shipments dropped 20.4% in August.

This drop is on top of Micron Technology announcing a weak forecast for Q3 2022 and that it will be working fast to slow production. Likewise, Samsung Electronics warned of a dim outlook for the second half of 2022’s fiscal year. This is in response to Samsung’s main product, DRAM chips, taking a sharp decline between May and July.

The semiconductor industry is one of the top exporters in the industrial sector of South Korea which relies on trade to fuel its economy. High energy prices, which started in response to the war in Ukraine, have made chip transport and creation more expensive than usual. Pair that with lowering demand and it’s no wonder that against other countries in East Asia the Korean won has depreciated significantly.

South Korea isn’t the only country where chipmakers are lowering production either. Kioxia in Japan intends to decrease production volume by 30% for its flash memory facilities. Micron Technology sees that DRAM supply will grow below demand growth in 2023 leading to the lowest ever within the industry. The same can be said for the NAND market.

These indicators might be pointing to what many experts have been concerned with since the start of the shortage. A period of excess. As chipmakers try to lower production to match the lessening demand it is important to remember that for some of us, we’re not out of the shortage yet.

Stabilization across the market, of supply-demand, might not be reached for everyone until 2024. ‍
Stellantis CEO: Electronic Shortage Will Last Until 2024 ‍

In an interview with the newspaper Le Parisien, Carlos Tavares, the CEO of Stellantis, sees semiconductors remaining tight until the end of 2023. “The situation,” Tavares said, “will remain very complicated until the end of 2023, then it will ease a little.”

Cooling demand might be causing some chip manufacturers to panic, but automakers are still struggling to find chips. At the end of September, numerous automotive manufacturers announced slashes in production output for vehicles. Toyota, Honda, Volkswagen, and Stellantis were among those that cited chip concerns being the reason for these cuts. Murat Aksel, chief purchasing officer of Volkswagen, believes there will still be “a structural shortfall in semiconductors up to and including 2023.”

The majority of these concerns involve rebuilding capacity of chips, which takes years to build back up. General Motors CEO, Mary Barra, told CBS Mornings that the semiconductor shortage will last into next year and “maybe a little beyond.” Though auto giants aren’t the only ones suffering from continued chip constraints. Pat Gelsinger, CEO of Intel, said earlier in the year the chip shortage will last into 2024.

A report by Bain & Company, a management consulting company, agrees that the chip shortage won’t end on a single date for anyone. Disruptions in the form of bad weather and geopolitical tension will continue to cause operational disruptions. Each component faces their own timeline of resolution such as12-inch wafers with transistors between 28nm to 130nm currently struggling alongside 6-inch and 8-inch wafers.

Some companies are starting to see relief this year from cooling consumer demands, that is true. That does not mean that a wild card disruption event couldn’t be just around the corner. The fastest way to relief, admittedly, is a softening demand from a slowdown of the global economy. However, recession does come with its own complications.

The takeaway here is simple: overall, the semiconductor shortage ending for everyone will not happen until 2024. The shortage will lessen and stabilize for specific industries step by step over the next year. This requires demand to continue cooling, which seems to be true considering market forecasts. All it takes to upset this tentative balance is more supply chain disruption.”

You should have watched the you tube video I posted on this subject which was posted as unavailable outside of You Tube, concerning this subject, and unfortunately you have it dead wrong.

The US Chip act has forced all US citizens working in the semiconductor industry in China to return to the US on pain of loss of citizenship, which has led to the closure of much of Chinas semiconductor industry before the US can scale up it own production.

Items in transit are not going to be affected, and it will take some time for the factories to use the available stock, but it is going to run out at sometime in the very near future.

Almost everything has a chip in it and those products are going to cease production.

Biden is doing everything in his power to start WWIII, whether it’s with Russia or with China or both doesn’t appear to matter to him.

The Daily telegraph today publishes a piece by Ben Lawrence telling the BBC how it can survive – enjoy –

STARTS The BBC turned 100 this week, and while there have been the expected celebratory round-ups of notable achievements, unearthings of unsung heroes and deep dives into the archives, this is no time for looking back. Indeed, the Corporation is facing some of the toughest challenges in its history, with calls for the licence fee to be scrapped as loud as ever and even the BBC’s most ardent devotees believing it unsustainable.

Then there are the job cuts – with the excellent but chronically under-promoted BBC World Service announcing nearly 400 losses last month. There is the scrutiny of ridiculously inflated salaries, the issue of impartiality and the decline in traditional ratings, all providing headaches for Tim Davie, the director-general.

And yet, while I have many issues with the BBC, I feel like my relationship is akin to that of a frustrated lover. As friends keep telling me: “You’d miss it.” So what does it need to do to ensure its survival? Here, as a fee-paying punter, are my suggestions.

    Stop chasing youth

The BBC’s obsession with retaining viewers and listeners means people like me often feel as if they are trapped in a slightly shabby nightclub. Those mindless ads for podcasts and those trailers for TV drama that look like they were made by an embarrassing dad trying to get down with the kids. Yes, invest in shows for younger viewers (that is crucial), but don’t let that be the general tone across all platforms. It’s alienating.

    Know thy enemy

The BBC is not Netflix. It is not reliant on algorithmic data (at least not to my knowledge) and has a duty in spheres such as news that the streaming service does not invest in. A number of recent dramas on BBC One, such as The Capture, have felt like ropy Netflix knock-offs. The Corporation also seems desperate to get a piece of the “true-crime” action. Stop it. Remember how, in the past, it so often thrived on originality.

    Cap salaries

To be fair, caps on pay have been suggested recently, partly due to the disparity between the salaries of male and female members of staff. Yet, every year the list of the BBC’s highest earners sticks in the craw, and in light of recent job losses, £1.65 million for Match of the Day host Gary Lineker (and that is after a pay cut) begins to look even less palatable. “Talent” is crucial, but these people are not performing open-heart surgery. Radio Two presenter Ken Bruce is worth every penny, though.

    Stop this sham of impartiality

News is news, and reporting has to be fair, but this laudable aim is unachievable unless the broadcaster recruits people who represent a more diverse range of opinions and are more representative of the nation as a whole. Does the BBC really want to take on board the opinions of a Right-leaning truck driver from Sunderland? Probably not, but it should.

Keep the marketing guys out of programme making

Programmes used to be commissioned by people who had experience in making them and the result was a rich variety. Now, while there is a level of competence, there is often a patina of blandness, with every show feeling more like a marketing exercise than a creative one. “A thrilling and emotional story packed with intrigue and surprise twists,” runs the blurb for returning drama The Pact. I rest my case.

    Bring back costume drama

The BBC ruled the airwaves on this one, and while it has not vowed to stop plundering our literary heritage entirely (a new Great Expectations is imminent), the highs of Andrew Davies’s Bleak House or Jack Pulman’s I, Claudius feel like relics from a very different organisation. It is costly, but so is Gary Lineker.

    Keep making great comedy

While drama has floundered in the past four or five years, comedy has continued to grow, with shows like Alma’s Not Normal and Fleabag providing a high chortle count and a fair amount of innovation. Director of comedy Jon Petrie (like Shane Allen before him) realises that humour often comes from the darkest places, and the result is often fearless.

    Preserve Radio 3

Yes, there are a few concessions to modish twaddle-like mindfulness and, occasionally, you get the sense that the station is keeping too close an eye on Classic FM. But it is still largely unashamedly Reithian in its output, and treats its audience like intelligent human beings. It must not become a victim of cost-cutting.

Make BBC Four a proper channel again

Its treatment by the Corporation is shameful. Once a home to clever and original documentaries, arts programmes, comedy and drama, it is edging ever nearer to the televisual glue factory and is now practically an archive channel. BBC Two is supposed to be plugging the gap, but so far there has been little evidence.

    Stop self-flagellating

The BBC seems increasingly paranoid, unsure of its aims and twitchy about saying the wrong thing. I say, ditch the existential angst, knuckle down, and make things we really want to watch and listen to. It is “our BBC”, after all.ENDS

I publish the above although I really really disagree with much of the content . I think the author is a lefty kidult with very low standards .

He doesn’t mention the easy constant lefty bias – the colour issue – the support for Labour – the cancellations of the Right – the cost – the anti Britishness – the pro EU stance –

With all that – I’d sell the BBC to Netflix …

It used to be that forum comments were generally OK as long as you didn’t directly insult another user or use offensive language.

The BBC changed that in the run up to Brexit. They absolutely didn’t want any discussion on certain topics – so their ‘off-topic’ moderation went super-strict (as it still is).

Now they just delete any views they don’t want under the ridiculous rule that you might offend others who presumably won’t like what you have to say.

It is a one-way street though : the offending comments are ALWAYS against the BBC’s agenda. I see much, much more offensive comments which are not deleted. Some are pure spite – but that’s allowed if it’s directed at the Conservatives or Nigel.

It leads to the ridiculous situation I saw many times before Brexit where the top-rated comment was ‘deleted because it broke the house rules’.

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-63311605

My BBC lies alarm went off immediately when I read this : carefully worded to make you think the beating killed her but doesn’t actually say it.

Sure enough – right near the end – we have:

‘State TV cited Asra’s uncle as saying in an interview that she had underlying heart problems and that the cause of her death was cardiac arrest.’

Now I do not support these brainwashed, stone-age barbarians one little bit – but they didn’t beat her to death like the BBC want you to think.

I do wonder to myself why such young children are suddenly so vocal in standing up to authority. I can only think of one reason : they are being encouraged to do it by adults. Because when they get killed or injured, the BBC will splash it across the front page as they did here. I can imagine the excitement in the office when this story came in.

Only the agenda matters to the ideologically driven Left. They don’t care who suffers in the process : ‘The ends justify the means’.

    Commitment to commitments edition

David Cameron: We were all white men — so I did something about diversity… I fought and won in 2005. I was one of seven MPs taking part; all of us were white, and all of us male. (Times July 2022)

And so the seeds were sown…

The Guardian today further celebrates the ongoing outbreak of diversity in the top ranks of the Tory Party leadership with the latest resignation: Braverman’s bombshell puts Truss on brink – this reader rather enjoyed the sheer chutzpah of the Gruan’s blatant cropping of our short-lived and now late Home Secretary’s letter of resignation mid-sentence…

“It is obvious to every one that we are going through a tumultuous time. I have concerns about the direction of this government. Not only have we broken key pledges that were promised to our voters, but I have had serious concerns about this Government’s commitment to honouring manifesto commitments.” – and there, dear children, the Guardian had to leave it.

Admittedly, commitment to commitments was a tad clunky to have to read.

Just like Mr Derek Fowlds (incidentally also of Yes Minister fame, so no stranger to the political machinations of Westminster, he having played the trusty cohort to Sir Humphrey, as Bernard Wolley – presumably waiting on his knighthood) in his secondary role he caught the attention of a certain generation in loco parentis to the errant fox of uncertain age Basil Brush. Mr Derek would attempt each week to reach the end of the on-going serial story amid incessant interuptions and gags from the naughty Basil, until at last slamming shut the big story book with a regretful “That’s all we’ve got time for this week, Basil

So it is the Guardian editorial, incidentally promoted to numero uno top spot in the BBC’s online press line up, crops the crucial paragraph in our Su’s resignation letter. Instead rushing on to revel: In a perfunctuary reply, Truss told her former home secretary “I accept your resignation…”

Yet what’s this? A full stop, final point, a period? Where surely a set of dots indicating some form of ellipsis is the
required form? Afterall, Mr AsISeeIt does his level best to remember to dot, dot, dot – where he abbreviatives his headline extractions and cropped quotations.

Not so the: News provider of the year – and apparently every bloody year, as far the BBC is concerned.

Even the formerly patriotic Times lacks the sheer brass neck to completely obfisicate – and their hint tips us the wink that we ought to refer to the full text: Suella Braverman accused Liz Truss in her resignation letter of abandoning key manifesto pledges on reducing migration

So we boldly go where the Guardian fears to tred: “…I have had serious concerns about this Government’s commitment to honouring manifesto commitments [comma] …such as reducing overall migration numbers and stopping illegal migration, particularly the dangerous small boats crossings.”

The Left (including Cameron) keep using the word ‘diversity’ when what they be should saying is ‘equality’.

Equality – for example – is striving for one black person for every 30 white people in all facets of life. I cannot argue against equality for everyone who lives here. The question of why there are so many of any particular ethnic background is a political one caused by people such as the BBC and that’s where any complaints should be directed. Not at the people themselves who are just doing what we would do when it is given to them on a plate.

So when I read of some 14 year old kid stabbing another kid to death and turning our country into a 3rd world sh1thole, I don’t blame those who did it. I blame the Left for putting them there.

‘Diversity’ has no concept of equality at all. It is putting black people in positions purely because they are black and it’s absolutely racist.

For me now, the words ‘diversity’ and ‘racism’ are interchangeable.

@JohnC AFAIK the principle that jobs should proportionately reflect society is call EQUITY
        Equality is equality of opportunity
that sure black guys are free to take up swimming and train hard, but in the end more cold country origin people probably have a genetic advantage
The same the other away around that marathon teams may well end up with higher numbers of black athletes.
And that football teams might end up as more black cos more black men CHOOSE to try to get into top class football (or boxing) and more white men choose other things.
That university has equal opportunity for all but when it comes to tough lonely disciplines we shouldn’t be surprised that women often don’t choose them.

True DIVERSITY isn’t about tickboxes for skin colours
but that equality of opportunity means that BBC jobs should be equally open to the full diverse range of people non-lefties and non-Londoners, and yes people from any legal opinion

The first half is a market analysis on the current state of the UK economy and how Liz Truss screwed it up, pretty much as I had said, she was another fantasist who was also lazy and didn’t want to put in the groundwork before moving on to cutting taxes.

The cost of her asinine fantasist stupdity has been not only the £20Bn to date, but the UK has completely lost the confidence of overseas investors and we are now looking at an apparant 2% interest rate from the dithering BoE governor and his MPC, with the Tory party completely imploding and unfit to govern in any meaningful way.

Too many liberals in the Tory party mean it will remain unelectable until the fantasists are forced out. Alas the people behind the scenes who select candidates are worse than any and that is the heart of the rot in the Tory party.

I’d like to thank the government for keeping the pensions triple lock.
    Here’s why.

A while back I discovered that I had only ‘earned’ 34 years worth of pension contributions. I needed to make a voluntary payment to get the 35th and final qualifying year.

It cost me £700. For that money I gain an extra £2 per week pension. Put like that, it doesn’t sound much.

So let’s do a little maths.
£2 per week is over £100 a year.

That’s £100 per year, guaranteed, inflation protected income for an outlay of £700.

A rate of return of over 14%. In today’s climate.

Now the real annuity rate, even after the recent surge in long gilts, for an inferior deal is about 4%. Only the public sector gives unlimited inflation protection for pensions – a cost conveniently omitted from all current debate but will represent the biggest cost to the NHS this year without so much as a raised eyebrow,

So the real pension pot needed to buy that £2 per week is not £700. It’s £2500. The government has just given me a totally unearned lump sum of £1800 and it only cost me £700. I’ve gained £1100 by filling in a form,

And that dear readers is just one reason why the country’s finances are totally gone to r** s***.

On the other hand Sluff, say you’ve been in continuous employment, paid all your dues and are asked to work on for what turns out to be three years past retirement.
So you build up a pot of around £34k with interest (at that time) and then you actually retire and request the lump sum – and what HMRC release is £27k.
The lump sum attracts higher rate tax, despite being built with smaller amounts of un-taxed pre-threshold money.

      That’s a good trick, innit?

I also heard that this was quite a while ago so maybe they were keeping it to use against Suella when they were making their moves to get rid of the Brexiteers to replace them with remainers.

I hope Suella chooses to join Nigel who has put it out that if he gets some high profile people to support him he will return.

The Tory voters are as bad as this voting for a name and to keep the other lot out based on issues learned under Harold Wilson and Jim Callaghan.

The Crown: Dame Judi Dench accuses Netflix hit of ‘crude sensationalism’

Dame Judi Dench is the latest high-profile figure to call for a disclaimer to be added to The Crown to make clear the series is not necessarily true.

But Marky, The Crown is a dishonest load of crap with a hat on.

I endured one episode while visiting a friend, that was more than enough. They depicted Prince Philip like he was some sort of obnoxious oaf and Margaret Thatcher as an out of her depth bumpkin.

It’s tawdry and it’s dishonest and it’s dealing with real people and real events. That’s what makes it so dangerous.

Some folk treat this garbage like it’s an historically accurate documentary; it’s not. It’s a piece of fiction wrapped in the lives of real people.

Dame Judy Dench is right, it is crude and it distorts events to fit a narrative.

“May 2018 the Day of Freedom march was not reported on the main website or the main news channel and is not available on the BBC £3.5bn online search page – other news agencies including the Guardian reported it.”

Has the BBC kept the public in the dark …. YES.
“We know that the UK MP expenses continues and should be investigated with the £3.5bn BBC New Service every year to keep the MPs on their toes, David Lammy bought a bike for £650 on expenses (Claim Ref:387540/17oct2014) which is blatant misuse of Tax Payer Money. Has the BBC ignored politician’s lies …. YES.

I agree with all the above. Personally, I see the bias most in the downplaying (or completely ignoring) of certain news, while emphasising and magnifying other stories. That’s such an easy way to push a biased agenda, but hard to ‘prove’, unlike downright lies which can more easily be exposed. (Though they do that too, sometimes.)

Thank goodness for outlets like GB News. Does anyone have reliable figures on how well they’re doing, across all their many platforms?

In political science, the term banana republic describes a politically unstable country with an economy dependent upon the export of natural resources. In 1904, the American author O. Henry coined the term to describe Honduras and neighboring countries under economic exploitation by U.S. corporations, such as the United Fruit Company (now Chiquita Brands International).[1] Typically, a banana republic has a society of extremely stratified social classes, usually a large impoverished working class and a ruling class plutocracy, composed of the business, political, and military elites.[2] The ruling class controls the primary sector of the economy by way of the exploitation of labor;[3] thus, the term banana republic is a pejorative descriptor for a servile oligarchy that abets and supports, for kickbacks, the exploitation of large-scale plantation agriculture, especially banana cultivation.[3]

In the early 20th century, the United Fruit Company, a multinational American corporation, was instrumental in the creation of the banana republic phenomenon.[6][7] Together with other American corporations, such as the Cuyamel Fruit Company, and leveraging the power of the United States government, the corporations created the political, economic, and social circumstances, that led to a coup of the locally elected democratic government that established banana republics in Central American countries such as Honduras and Guatemala.[8]

MPs split their time between working in Parliament itself, working in the constituency that elected them and working for their political party.

Some MPs from the governing party (or parties) become government ministers with specific responsibilities in certain areas, such as Health or Defence. These MPs do not stop working for their constituency and, whatever their role in Government or Parliament, will still hold regular surgeries to help their constituents.

It maybe a smaller issue, but media Twitter on Wednesday night was crazy with fake news

#1 Pippa and her mob tweeted an incredible claim that Truss had not voted in her own Confidence vote.
Then later tweeted a correction that in fact the parliament website showed she had voted

#2 Pippa and her mob tweeted that the Chief Whip and her deputy had both resigned, but offered no concrete evidence that they had
    it was just rumours
Then when Number 10 said no, they are both still in office, many tweeted a claim that they had unresigned.
Emm there was never ever proper evidence they had resigned.

#3 Media mob tweeted that the devious Tories had changed the Fracking vote to NOT be a confidence vote
Then earlier this morning they tweeted no it actually had been a confidence vote.
