    Oh dear.

Given their recent incursions into diversity with the half-diverse Meghan and the extremely diverse Punani, I’d have thought the exact opposite lesson should be learnt, namely total EX-clusion of any more diversity.

Croatia vs Morocco, a match I have no interest in.
In case you missed it, I caught a bit of the half time chat on the BBC. Mark Chapman and Micah Richards were going out of their way to praise the Moroccan fans, the atmosphere they bring compared to some all-European games which were completely flat (Richards).
So, praise the drumming and the chanting. . . Just don’t mention the rioting.

Croatia were denied a clear penalty… despite this it was the Moroccan players surrounding and pushing the referee at the end.

Funnily both incidents are missing from the BBC report which says: “… their passionate players and supporters have lit up this tournament. Their following sang and banged their drum for the entirety of this game […] they will look back on their achievements at this tournament with fond memories.”

Brixton. A savage mob gathers for a ‘music’ gig and, surprise surprise, mayhem and violence ensue as large numbers force their way in.

The police are called, and in the brawl a woman gets pushed down three steps.

The BBC are delighted to post the footage, amidst a clamour for the police to be investigated.

How long before the rioting and looting, and how long before Khant, Lamey and Abbopotamus jump on the bandwagon?

Sorry this is so late and thus a little vague.

Yesterday there was a discussion on the Today programme about nurses pay .

The two talking heads the BBC interviewer had were Alan Johnson, a previous Labour Cabinet minister and a Conservative woman minister .

The first question was to Alan Johnson and began ; Alan …..

The question to the Conservative minister called her by her full name .

What is the BBC policy about the correct way to address those they interview? Why is a degree of familiarity allowed to the Labour/liberal/ statist lot ?

We know the BBC has trouble with the nomenclature of Tommy Robinson but gives Vicky Price and Ngozi Fulani an easy pass .

I am looking at some Twitter guy who is obsessed by the idea GBnews is really WEF funded

.. As expected there are some leaps in logic there

#1 The same guy has a habit of asserting
“Elon Musk was a WEF Young Global Leader class of 2008”
… but the truth is you don’t signup or even know you are a WEF YGL
.. Rather the WEF has spotted you in the media and added you to their list of potential upcoming leaders on their website.
Then they might email you an invite to a conference.
    .. Wikipedia screenshot https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FSfYdlEWUAUdsnn?format=jpg&name=medium

#2 GBnews is not owned entirely by an org called Legatum Group.
It’s now owned by All Perspectives Ltd after they bought everyone else out.
    The investors are https://www.gbnews.uk/our-investors
    – Sir Paul Marshall of UnHerd, which promotes new thinking in politics. He is a big hedge fund boss

    – The Legatum global partnership a righty do good org fronted by NZ born billionaire Christopher Chandler, who made a load of money from the de-nationalising of businesses in Russia.
    He based Legatum in Dubai
Chandler himself chose to take Maltese citizenship something he started before Brexit . He says he’s not a Brexiteer.

    Is Legatum WEF ?
Despite the guy claiming that it is a close partner
there is only one mention on the website https://www.legatum.com
Part of Legatum .. a research org called The Legatum Institute created a tool called The Prosperity Index
The website says ” The Prosperity Index is used .. by a number of governments/organisations, including the World Economic Forum ..”

The WEF website site:weforum.org doesn’t have pages saying “we work in conjunction with Legatum”
instead there are a couple of things in passing
eg ‘Ellen Agler serves on the board of the WEF Global Health Security Advisory Board, she is also the boss of a Legatum fund called END’

Then the WEF site mentions people who attended a conference
and it might say in the person’s bio that they received Legtum funding eg “MIT Legatum Fellow” or “Fellow of the Legatum Institute, London” etc
Also a couple of WEF blogposts in passing say something like “according to the Legatum Institute report”

It seems Legatum is very big, so parts of occasionally touch the WEF
Just like a university might be quite big and sometimes touch Russia eg have a couple of staff who went to a conference in Russia
..that doesn’t mean the university is controlled by Putin.

I understand some large overweight BBC chap won Strictly. According to reports the BBC were hoping for a non-white final, but one young lady dissed that idea.

I haven’t watched it for weeks now, but clearly the Beeb were hoping for this chap to win, as they tend to ‘push’ upcoming and unknown stars to appear on their show (can’t think why Nadya never appeared, but hey ho !) all this was clear to me when this appeared in Saturday Mail – enlightening article to say the least, and more than confirms that the results of Strictly are ‘fixed’.

Brissles-I watched the show . And if it wasn’t quite
exactly the same as the little boy seeing that the King
was starkers . Whilst everybody were saying how
magnificently sartorial he looked. But it was something like
that, so far as Hamza was concerned.
Hamza danced well for a big man. If you saw him dancing
at a wedding party or any celebration. Everybody would circle
him and clap. BUT that’s about it.
The fact that he got the by far lowest score in the final wasn’t
going to make any difference . And the judges knew it with
some of their comments. Even Motsi Mabuse one of the
judges who gives nearly everybody a 10 in the latter stages of
      the competition.
Craig Revel Horwood the only judge who will only give a 10
for what he considers perfection spilt the beans He told Helen Skelton that she was the best. But you saw in his face that the BBC were never going to let a fair skinned dancer win against
three ethnic competitors. AS it happens if either of the other
two competitors had won , it would of been acceptable. Because
      they were both better dancers.
It was a foregone conclusion that Hamza was going to win
however he pranced in the final. To be honest it
reminded of the Russian ice skater who keeps
falling over at the Olympics. The Russian judge gives him a
5.8 out of 6. And when asked why . He retorts ” Considering
how slippery it was. I thought he did very well.”

What was interesting were the comments on YouTube all saying what a brilliant dancer Hamza is. It must PR team on overdrive, using different names to post comments.

“Even those commentators most critical of Musk, and the files, have been forced to concede there is clear evidence Twitter ‘enforced its terms of service in inconsistent and politically biased ways’. That is one way of putting it. The other is that this was arbitrary censorship by people who have lost the capacity to understand different points of view from their own.

Various devices were used to prevent wrong-think gaining traction on Twitter. Some accounts were placed on a ‘trends blacklist’ so that their tweets would not be seen even when they were securing thousands of engagements. Other individuals were shadowbanned, with their tweets blocked from appearing on followers’ feeds or in search. There was a whole armoury of what Twitter executives call ‘visibility filtering’ devices to suppress unacceptable opinions. This is William Gibson territory, or perhaps Black Mirror.

Twitter executives from Jack Dorsey down have long denied that shadowbanning existed and said all they did was remove Tweets that were illegal, threatening or racially abusive. This was clearly not the case. Twitter cancelled Trump-supporting talk show hosts, Dan Bongino and Charlie Kirk, without such justification. They were systematically ‘de-amplified’ essentially because they are fierce opponents of doctrines like ‘white privilege’ and ‘critical race theory’, and were opposed to Covid lockdowns and vaccine mandates. The Stanford professor, Jay Bhattacharya, was censored because he backed the ‘Great Barrington Declaration’ and promoted the theory of ‘herd immunity’ – as did many UK government scientific advisers, at the start of the Covid pandemic.

Flip this over and ask yourself what the reaction would have been to the shadow banning of outspoken left-wing broadcasters and bloggers like the Guardian’s Owen Jones or LBC’s James O’Brien. The outcry would have reverberated for days. So they aren’t American, you say. Well, what if the film maker Michael Moore or the left wing Congresswoman, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, had been ‘de-amplified’.

The ‘deplatformed’ right wing pundits did not break Twitter’s own rules on hate speech, let alone any laws. They were banned because their views were uncongenial to the employees of Twitter, the vast majority of whom appear to be partisan Democrat supporters, at least according to their political donations.

files have now revealed just how many former members of the FBI and other US government agencies were embedded in Twitter. The head of safety, Yoel Roth, apparently had weekly meetings with the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security and others. That is strange behaviour for a journalistic organisation. I can’t imagine the Guardian editors having weekly chats with MI5, the police or GCHQ. ”

I think Goeballs would be proud of what Twitter did before Musk took over – the kidults running it thought they could kill ideas – ok so they helped kill a dissenting president – covered up the theft of the US election and concealed contrary views on vaccines – but ideas – unapproved ones – will remain until those who hold them are destroyed – which is another couple of steps along the road.

“It is no secret that Twitter’s executives and Silicon Valley employees were intensely hostile to Donald Trump. Twitter’s head of trust and safety, Yoel Roth, openly called the Trump government ‘Nazis’. I am intensely hostile to Donald Trump’s politics also, though to accuse him of being a National Socialist is historically illiterate. But my views are beside the point. Journalism and free speech are the point. It should not be for unelected and unaccountable tech bros to decide which democratically elected national leaders are allowed to speak. How could a platform that supposedly upheld democratic values ban an elected leader who had just been supported by tens of millions of American voters?

Moreover, it is clear from the files that Donald Trump was given a lifetime ban even though he broke none of Twitter’s rules and that many of the content moderators did not believe they had adequate grounds to exclude him. Executives said that his tweet: ‘75,000,00 American Patriots….will not be disrespected or treated unfairly in any way shape or form!!!’ did not breach Twitter terms of service and could not be construed as a call to arms. All he said in the second tweet that led to his banning was: ‘I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th’.

It took textual exegesis of extraordinary inventiveness to construe Trump’s tweets as a ‘coded’ message to his supporters to invade the Capitol. I remember myself puzzling over how these anodyne tweets could reasonably have led to a permanent ban. He clearly did not incite anyone to violence or invasion, still less declare a coup and propose to instal himself as dictator. One of his video tweets on January 6th called for an end to the rioting. ‘I know your pain, I know you’re hurt’ said Trump ’but you have to go home now, we have to have peace. We have to have law and order.’

“A new BBC period drama has been criticised for showing Marie Antoinette kissing another woman amid lack of evidence over the last Queen of France’s sexual preference. The trailer of the new series titled Marie Antoinette and set to hit BBC Two, shows the French monarch kissing one of her female courtiers, Madame Du Barry, despite historians saying there is no historical evidence that she was gay.

Catriona Seth, a professor of literature at the University of Oxford and biographer of the French queen, says the French monarch was not known to have any such sexual relationship and its inclusion is “titillation”. ”

    https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1708913/bbc-marie-antoinette-lesbian-french-queen-gay-deborah-davis-historians-french-revolution

“The kissing scene sparked criticism from royal historians who said that “gossip” about the Queen’s sexuality was used to defame her before her execution in 1793 during the Reign of Terror in France.

The inclusion of a same-sex relationship raises concerns from historians who fear that producers are replicating this centuries-old slander.

Prof Seth said that this “tragically” erroneous portrayal continues even now, saying: “Clearly the vision people had of Marie Antoinette has been coloured by it, by this circulation of libellous texts and so on.”

The Observer observes: The striking nurses’ anger has been a full 12 years in the making – which date neatly brings us back to the time of the huge (now in retrospect relatively modest) government spending deficits and massive debt pile inherited by the Tories in 2012. But one supects Will Hutton frets not over deficits. Say what you mean – the NHS blob (read nurses – read civil service, read public sector…) want the Tories out.

I’ve been ‘banging on’ about the dilemma of national voting for years. In the absence of any party worth voting for (as is the case now), I believe that spoiling the ballot paper is the only way ‘to vote’.

Interesting what’s happened in Tunisia just. A mere 9% turnout and the current ‘Leader’ has been asked to step down. I don’t know whether the Tunisians have a sophisticated voting system with a, ‘spoilt ballot’ facility which is counted and numbers broadcast, or not. I suspect not. But 9% is the next best thing.

Deprive our “rulers” of the legitimacy to govern I say.

Sorry it’s the BBC so it is likely to be riddled with lies or distortions: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-64015596

Begum (also begüm, bagum, begom, begam, baigum or beygum) is a royal and aristocratic title from Central and South Asia. It is the feminine equivalent of the title baig or bey, which in Turkic languages means “higher official”. It usually refers to the wife or daughter of a beg.

Dover MP Natalie Elphicke told the Commons that the BBC’s “shocking report” contained the “breath-taking” disclosure of free French public bus services being used to ferry migrants from camps to Dunkirk beaches.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-63229010

    ….

Today the BBC journalists Michael Keohan and Colin Campbell released a shocking report on the channel crossings. It showed people smugglers selling their wares brazenly in the migrant camps and many children living in unsafe and dangerous conditions, as well as—this is breathtaking—a free French public bus service that migrants can use to travel directly from the camps to the Dunkirk departure beaches. Will my right hon. Friend allow a statement on the issue of tackling the small boat crossings and the Government’s response in their work with France?

As we all know, these charges for entering places like London are nothing at all to do with revenue raising.

With the rail strike people are finding it difficult to get into London and lots of businesses are being badly hit during what should be their busiest time.
They could use their cars but with ulez, parking and any other charges they can think of it’s too expensive.

Why not suspend these charges over Xmas to help all these small businesses survive. After all, it’s not about revenue raising is it.
