Weekend 27 May 2023

Will BBC VERIFY check the number given out this week that 606000 foreigners were added to our huge population in 2022. Was it really 750 000? Or maybe the BBC will look the other way ….?

Looking at replies to Belfield’s tweets I spot listeners making predictions 2 years back.
I think Belfield referenced a gay mafia that covered things up and protected people
obviously first rooted in unfairness against innocent gay people, but then getting out of hand.

People in taffland are sick and tired of avoiding kids on e bikes, riding irresponsibly on the roads and pavements, often at night in the dark . Are they legal, expensive? What is their speed and would anyone buy such a dangerous bike for a kid? I understand that they are quite expensive. Too expensive for people living in a poor community.

“Negroid” Up2snuffMAY 27, 2023 AT 9:56 AM mentioned that R4Today was clutching its pearls
Speaking in hushed terms that an internal Post Office form 15 years ago at the time of early investigations into Post Master money losses classified apparent thieves by racial group one category using a word so horrific they couldn’t mention it
Only to later say it s like the “N word” but not the actual N word

Then tonight I get around to reading the BBC article
First it has a trigger warning then deep down the page it names the category “negroid type”
which it claims is “an archaic and offensive term from the colonial era of the 1800s that refers to people of African descent.”

    em that is FAKE NEWS
#1 It was used in the famous Gerald Durrell book “My family and Other Animals” .. in recent editions they edit the line out
#2 By setting the date search on Twitter I can see that prior to this week there were 200 tweets over the lat 10 years that used it
mostly in a non aggressive way
Indeed there are screenshots of books from the recent 20th Century that use it
    eg 1 https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Dqu_f6eVYAAlpQI?format=jpg&name=small
    eg 2 is a bit older 1937 https://twitter.com/nA_nokware/status/1439158870681735168
Later 21C books are on Amazon
Seems it was used in older Anthropology and Archaeology texts
    Oh More on Google Books

#3 The BBC definition is certainly wrong
“Negroid type” is not synonymous with African
It doesn’t mean genetic or cultural link to Africans
The Andaman Islanders (coastal India)& Aboriginal Australians are negroid but not African.”

There are plenty of non-whites who deserve a lot of sympathy eg abused, sexually mutilated
but when it comes to other people who learn there was word on a form used I think it’s a very cause for grievance
My guess is that the person who compiled the form was not a native speaker, so their translation dictionary threw up outdated terms
so they simply used them, without malice.

the real malice is #1 from the PO team who knew the computers were at fault and that most/many people were innocent
#2 From actual thieves who did steal but have used the Post office scandal to get off.

For the world-weary among us at least there’s no big surprises on the frontpages this Sunday.

ITV daytime dolly Holly Willoughby is spread across several titles doing a quick impersonation of Manuel from Fawlty Towers…

    “I know nothing!”

Holly: Phil lied to me (Sun on Sunday)
Holly: I’m so hurt Phil lied to me (Daily Star Sunday)
Holly: Phil’s lies were hurtful (Sunday Telegraph)
Willoughby: “I’m hurt by Schofield deceit” (Sunday Times)
Holly: It’s been very hurtful to find out Phillip lied (Sunday Express)

Ok, ok, we know how you feel, luv… : False Promises on Immigration Will Be Tories’ Downfall. Politicians can’t keep promising one thing only to do the opposite. (Martin Ivens writing for Bloomberg – he’s the editor of the Times Literary Supplement. Previously, he was editor of the Sunday Times and its chief political commentator – which tends to imply the chattering classes have at least – at last – acknowledged the problem)

While we wait on tenterhooks and with bated breath for that big Ukrainian counter-offensive we’ve all paid for…

UK will match record Ukraine support in 2023. Prime Minister announces the UK will meet or exceed the amount of military aid spent on Ukraine in 2022 next year. From: Prime Minister’s Office, 10 Downing Street and The Rt Hon Elizabeth Truss MP Published 20 September 2022 (Gov.UK) – that’s one bit of financial profligacy from the Liz Truss disasterous mini-budget era our Rishi won’t be correcting anytime soon

Pending tactical maneuvers in the Donbas, interestingly, the Labour party begin their inevitable Blairite attempt to outflank the Tories from the right on immigration: Labour vows to get tough on migrant job visas (Telegraph)

Sunak meanwhile meets the socialists half-way with some nostalgia-inducing ancient 1970s era prices and incomes fixing policy: Sunak asks stores to cap food prices (Telegraph) – come on supermarkets… return the favour, the government gave you a massive profits boost with lockdowns by crippling your small scale high street competition while your footfall flourished, despite masking.

We note that so-called Covid inquiry is working out just fine for highly-paid lawyers, lockdown enthusiasts and leftists in general: It is set to see prominent Tories from across the last 13 years of government – including David Cameron and George Osborne – interrogated about the steps they took to prepare for a pandemic and the impact of austerity on the NHS’s resiliance (Observer)

So you imagined this official inquiry might question the efficacy of lockdowns? Of masking? The very term pandemic was realistically applied? The collateral damage of project fear and stay at home policy to general health, the demoralisation of the working population and the trashing of the economy? Certain ill-advised life-ending medical treatments applied early in the so-called pandemic? NHS doors closed and the vulerable shunted out to languish in care homes? That dictionary redefinition of the term vaccination? The profit motivations of Big Pharma? State indemnity gifted and proper safety testing precautions lifted for Big Pharma? You think this inquiry will go there? Think again. You’re probably one of those people who believe our Holly knew nothing.

Ukraine war: Kyiv hit by new massive Russian drone attack – mayor
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-65736730

‘Overall, Russia launched a record 54 so-called kamikaze drones on Ukrainian targets, 52 of which were shot down, Ukraine’s Air Force reported.

In Kyiv alone, more than 40 drones were downed, officials said.

This information has not been independently verified.’

Sounds like the new 60-man BBC ‘Verify team’ could start checking some of these claims out BBC because quite frankly they are so ridiculous that it rubbishes the entire report.

It seems that the recently-devised explanation for all the explosions and damage is that they are caused by ‘falling drone fragments.’

Also quite a few warehouses got blown up – but we don’t dwell on that because remember : only 2 got through. I wonder what was in them …

More interestingly I see the comedian Zelensky has been out of the country for a few weeks now – yet is still wearing his army T-shirt and not shaving to meet world leaders. Obviously he doesn’t need to make any decisions : his role is very definitely just a theatrical one. We won’t dwell on that either.

I can scarcely believe how bad the reporting for this war is by the MSM and especially the BBC. It’s like they think everybody are idiots and will believe absolutely anything without question.

What does interest me though is how they ALL instantly entered this bizarre cover-up with similar content and similar style. How did that happen ?. Did they all get together and decide it or were they all ‘informed’ on how to behave in some way ?.

Wonder why they didn’t think of that before they purchased the mutt. Possibly not too bad, but another has been given compassionate leave because their mouse died. Really ? Poor old Mickey or Jerry. Perhaps another day off for the funeral. gently lowered into the ground in a little nest surrounded by a selection of favourite cheeses.

It seems that on just about everything, the conservatives are making a right old dogs breakfast of them.

Almost every interview ends with something along the lines of “the Tories must sort this out or they will be voted out at the next election”

On the boats, nothing is happening except lots of shoulds and we musts but no action. Then we hear “if they don’t sort this out they are toast”

On the nhs, waiting lists/strikes/shortage of doctors etc. “if they don’t sort this out they will not get re-elected”

On crime and policing, “if they don’t sort out the police, prisons, lawyers and judges they will be booted out”

On legal immigration, “if they don’t get this right down they are out at the next GE”

On Brexit, “if they keep on blocking everything and stopping our decision to leave they are finished”

On net zero, “if they keep on with this crazy net zero business making everyone poorer they will not be voted back in at the next GE”

There are so many other things they are either doing wrong or not doing at all and they always go against what the population want no matter what. Cutting the number of HM Forces, HS2, all this trans etc rubbish, ulez etc, keeping vat when it could be cut, fishing and I could go on and on.
In fact, I can’t think of anything they are getting right.
The only reason they can give to vote for them is (correctly) that labour will be worse.
As well as that, the civil snowflakes are getting rid of the very few ‘real’ Tories still in the government.
