“Campaigners slam ‘inedible’ food given to asylum seekers in budget hotels
The images, which showed food including burgers, chicken rolls and kebabs, were taken in two hotels near Bristol that have been commandeered by the Home Office.”
“Asylum seekers say mouldy, rotten hotel food is making them ill
A GP also raised concern that some children of asylum seekers she has seen are not gaining weight properly because of what they are being given to eat.”
In January 1940, the British government introduced food rationing. The scheme was designed to ensure fair shares for all at a time of national shortage.
The Ministry of Food was responsible for overseeing rationing. Every man, woman and child was given a ration book with coupons. These were required before rationed goods could be purchased.
Basic foodstuffs such as sugar, meat, fats, bacon and cheese were directly rationed by an allowance of coupons. Housewives had to register with particular retailers.
A number of other items, such as tinned goods, dried fruit, cereals and biscuits, were rationed using a points system. The number of points allocated changed according to availability and consumer demand. Priority allowances of milk and eggs were given to those most in need, including children and expectant mothers.
As shortages increased, long queues became commonplace. It was common for someone to reach the front of a long queue, only to find out that the item they had been waiting for had just run out.
Not all foods were rationed. Fruit and vegetables were never rationed but were often in short supply, especially tomatoes, onions and fruit shipped from overseas. The government encouraged people to grow vegetables in their own gardens and allotments. Many public parks were also used for this purpose. The scheme became better known as ‘Dig For Victory’.
“A GP also raised concern that some children of asylum seekers she has seen are not gaining weight properly because of what they are being given to eat.”
Why are the Tories thinking about reducing or scrapping inheritance tax.
The people it would affect are highly likely to be Tory voters anyway so they will not really gain voters.
Better idea would be to reduce income tax or vat which affects everyone including middle floating voters. These voters may well vote Tory if vat/income tax goes down.
You cannot reduce income tax when government spending is so high and inflation too. All it will do is increase the defecit government borrowing and push inflation even higher, it’s a stupid idea.
Far better if the Socialist followed Margaret Thatchers example and reduced government spending, tax cuts come a few years down the line when the economy is in order.
If the Tories really want to be re-elected, and I have some doubts about whether they do, then they need to reduce the importance of thge human rights act, and leave the asylum treaty, that would be an enormously popular move with the voters.

3pm R4 play was a repeat from a year ago
Amos a loveable character from #zimbabwe

Where is PETA? Or are they bought? This is truly disgusting that 200,000 cows will be slaughtered in Ireland because they fart & it destroys global warming. The left has lost their minds. 👇💥🤬https://t.co/Su9gpM5f0U
That’s a strange tweet . we carnivores breed cows to slaughter and eat them.
Phasing out cows is not a crime against cows.
However when I am with indigenous people they think it’s crazy to plant field and fields of soy instead of doing the comparitively easy thing of sending cows and sheep up a mountain for a year and then when you need to eat them, bringing them to down to kill and cook.
Thursday local BBCNewsPR : long elaborate item by BBC colleagues about a BBC colleague Burnsy being made redundant
featured the Beloved Hull Labour MP Diana Johnson and Jeremy Vine both pleading his cause.
Truth is Radio Humberside and R Lincolnshire are going back to Amalgamating some progs
so they only need one presenter & producer between them after 2pm
Burnsy is the highest paid , so they’ll save money
BBC local newsPR show on Friday
“Oh isn’t it outrageous that fish and chip average price is now £9, here some places where it’s £10, £11 for large cod ad chips”
Doh Fish & Chip shops that charge £9 are selling a luxury product
so why complain about the price
It’s like saying champagne is expensive
I can make f&c at home for £1
Especially these days cos local shops seem to have a glut of cod and have been selling two 160g portions for £1
(At same time other boxes on their shelves are mega expensive)

Meanwhile Captain Birdseye has been sobered up for a day or two to give it a thumbs up.
I’d rather risk a Richmond sausage, there’s probably more sea life inside there dropped by seagulls on the roads near the factory that the foxes daren’t even bother with.
OK the UK does have a problem, In that critical thinking is not taught so most people want simplistic stories rather than complex truths.
The BBC gang don’t set out to push TRUTH or entertain, they set out to SOCIAL ENGINEER the UK to their own pet agendas.
..and normal people wanting simplistic stories are vulnerable to them
Here Racebaiter Barnie is watching QuestionTime
He says “Oh look 4 white no BAME so that means the BBC is racist”
His pals pile in .. “soaked in white privilege” etc
Then finally Lisa explains there was a problem with African panelist’s flight
No one Likes her tweet
cos they don’t want to hear BBC selected 20% BAME
That is an over selection cos UK is only 15% BAME
Then our nemesis the strange BBC supporting account Laura piles in
I suspect that account is a gang of BBC PR people
but bio says “I don’t work for the BBC”
Laura is in the same #Wokesupremacist gang so she moves in
but has she even understood Barnie’s tweet about it being 4 panelists ?
She says “This panel of 5” (only 4 oanelists in the video !)
“@BarnieChoudhury’s is point well made” “An unbalanced panel in 2 ways”
ie no BAME
and “1 Conservative minister, 1 Conservative peer, 1 Conservative supporting campaigner”
The whole point is the BAME Conservative supporting campaigner was ABSENT
And anyway she is a victim of FGM and is the only true righty
Peer Chris Patten is a woke remainer Tory
Conservative MP George Freeman agreed with Chris Patten that Brexit had played a role in putting up food bills – and said he’d been a Remainer precisely because of such short term hits to the UK.
He claims now he backs Brexit.
The only privilege I can think is that of the blob breeding and the offspring going into the blob – such as daddy went to Eton so sends offspring to Eton …. Or families working for the BBC – dimbleby £ ahhh…
I took the (Chinese) wife to a Whitesnake concert just before Xmas a few years ago , Dave Coverdale, the singer frequently shouted “Happy Fucking Christmas”.
I came home a week later to a very depressed Chinese wife, her English teacher, various bus drivers, the proprieter of the local shop and the postman are no longer talking to her, she had been enthusiatically spreading Mr Whitesnake’s comment as a traditional English greeting.
Just look at this yet again. Another complete non-story pushed to be the main headline day after day because of the civil service and the BBC’s anti-government agenda to get Labour in at the next election. How many times have they done this now ? – they are relentless.
This latest BBC trick of constantly bombarding the public is an outrageous abuse of power. OFCOM are a complete disgrace.
The Enquiry? The Government do not want a factual and honest appraisal of the sequence of events. They want a face saving skimpy fluffy inconsequential report so the people are fooled yet again.
Larry Goodhall gets in the best guest for a revised context attempt by the Faffia.
The trashing of Philip Schofield has a whiff of homophobia
There was never such an outcry over relationships with much younger women by Leonardo di Caprio, Al Pacino & Peter Stringfellow. Or Cheryl, who met Liam Payne when he was 14
Because Schofield lied, that provokes peoples to thinking it’s only the tip of the iceberg
ie they may have been more boys
more cover up
and more celebs being covered up for.
Bill Wyman was sleazy but he was open.
The modern day fabric of life: living with the, “Advanced” technology and Communications”. I include in that span, what to do when the ‘technology goes wrong’ i.e. contacting a manufacturer or agent or techie. It is now virtually impossible to talk to a human being and it takes hours to search for a solution that fits. Those automatically offered, human free, rarely suit the circumstances. All by design.
All, but all, a designed distraction. While the punter is devoted to putting some item of technology right or querying something about it (and spending hours at it), he/she/it is not doing something humanly constructive.
Advancement? If you have to spend hours on seeking solution’s, there has been no technological advancement in my opinion.
What we all do know in reality, is that the technology is far from what its cracked up to be and fails often. A fitting epitaph for the coming war with China when that start arises as a result of ‘Technological’ system failures.
We’ve a sport and light entertainment edition for you this Sunday
Willoughby’s talks with BBC… Aunty Holly… Beeb plot to poach her from ITV after turmoil (Sunday Mirror)
Now, one does recognise that our older and somewhat less commercial broadcaster has made some pretty duff recruitment decisions in the past about which stars to hire and which to fire – but given the fact that Eamonn Holmes has warned us how in his experience the entire This Morning crew of management and presenters are “FAF” (the first two letters in that acronym standing for Fake As, and the third (four letter) word employing two of the same letters as used in the first) Mr AsI is sticking his neck out here and guessing that our Holly’s PR team have put out this sudden tale of BBC interest in gifting her a job simply to bolster their client’s negotiating position with ITV – which is probably a tad rocky at the moment. There may be no mud sticking to her directly in any legal sense – but as Nicola Sturgeon has found to her cost as her besties in the SNP came under scandalous scrutiny – as the Scots might say – Yer jaiket’s oan an awful shoogly peg Holly
Holly ponders her next move (Sunday Express)
In football when a player’s agent performs this sort of tactical news report placement duty they term it: Issuing a come and get me
Ah, the English national game and our quintessential annual event: FA cup final… Pep’s tears as Haaland lifts cup (The Sun)
And it was something of a Derby
Spanish coach of Abu Dhabi-owned club blubbing over his Norwegian player raising that famous English trophy after two goals from the German passport-holder of Turkish descent player beat the one goal from the Portugese player from the American-owned club – near neighbours in Manchester, no less. Doesn’t that warm the very cockles of your north-western heart, eh Mancs?
But don’t worry, as ITV will tell you… Britain’s Got Talent
But what’s this…?
Ghetto Kids: Winning Britain’s Got Talent would mean a bigger house in Uganda (BBC)
A group of Ugandan children is on the verge of glory after reaching the final of hit UK talent show Britain’s Got Talent, where they have won over the judges and the public with their dazzling dance moves and bubbly personalities… Some 30 children currently share a five-bedroom house in Kampala (BBC)
That’s six to a room – which compares with: Asylum seekers camped on street outside hotel… About 40 asylum seekers were offered space in a Pimlico hotel, but refused to enter after being asked to sleep “four people per room” (BBC)
Share a hotel room, asylum seekers are ordered (Telegraph)
But we’re straying into politics – let’s get back to the light entertainment – or Variety as they used to call it. In fact here’s a thought… perhaps that so very very much over-employed term Diversity should take a day off and be changed to Variety.
Variety is our strength
We’ll go ahead and exchange the V-word for the all D-words coming up in these up-coming entertainment reports – capital V
Swimming now has a wave of Variety to drown out Little Mermaid protests… Disney might be fiction, but our youth of today look up to the characters as role models so who Disney represent and how they represent them is real. That means the repercussions of racism and abuse towards Disney characters can be damaging and impactful as racism towards people… As a gay man and a person of colour, I faced horrible stereotyping but new film is helping pave a different way (Guardian) – grown man – albeit a gay one – loves his children’s cartoon characters, eh?
I’m afraid to say Foghorn Leghorn was a favourite of mine – that’s probably racist (?)
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Does Cinematic Variety Right… The Little Mermaid was a dull exercise in box-checking. Spider-Verse uses its diverse cast as an opportunity for narrative delights. (Reason – free minds and free markets)
Slightly higher brow
Museum lawyers weigh in on Variety initiatives, joint acquisitions and more at industry conference… Culture change inside institutions “is shared work”, with “three main groups having the most impact”- human resources, legal and the museum’s DEIA (Variety, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility) team – said Mikka Gee Conway, the chief variety, inclusion and belonging officer at the National Gallery of Art [USA]. (The Art Newspaper)
That’s the state of modern entertainment and apparently higher culture – all carefully pre-planned and programmed for us plebs to enjoy
Dua Lipa Is there anything she can’t do? (Sunday Times) – how about perform a song Mr AsI wants to hum after hearing her sing it?
Talking of disney – a heart warming story of employees being fired. One of their cartoons featured a woke ‘ couple’ / chaps maybe and as a result it could not be shown in17? Countries. The film broke even at $200 million which is not good enough for the avarice of disney
In the interests of balance, I’m making TWO films, one called “Black men can do expenses” and a sequel called “Black men do take Soros money”. As I believe in race-blind casting, I’m thinking of asking Leonardo di Crapio to play the lead character.
Quiet news day – usual blue labour lies about ‘cutting taxes ‘ …but a feature in the DT about the rise in motorists getting points on their licence and fines with FPNs ?( I thanks the gods of roads for having not been caught yet )
Anyway – it seems that the ‘threshold / wiggle room’ for getting a speeding ticket has been dropped a bit – in the Met anyway – so a 20 MPH limit with a wiggle of 5 PMH is now down to maybe 23MPH.
As one who has been driving / riding a very long time and take it very very seriously I consider speed limits ‘advisory ‘ at most times unless there is a camera ….
So this wiggle room thing should be Big News ? Unless it’s just filler on a nice sunny day ….

Just before 8pm Garden Rescue, there was a 3 min advert show
with Friends Of Earth logo visible all the time
FFS they’re a POLITICAL lobby group
#PREACHY #GreenSupremacists
OK UK TV stations first had Labour MPs on as presenters/celebs
and UKIP/Reform are on TalkTV/ GBNews
but not with the party logo on
and not excluding counter views
There’s a whole webpage on the TogetherTV website

They claimed to be merely owned by the public
but the founder is “Caroline Diehl”. I suspect she married or inherited a load of money
Though the internet seems to have been scrubbed as to where she was born and who her husband or parents are.

The teaching profession will welcome this with open arms, much easier life teaching kids how to eat vegetables than how to do quadratic equations.

Most kids would rather do a quadratic equation than eat a vegetable.

“Oh isn’t it outrageous that fish and chip average price is now £9, here some places where it’s £10, £11 for large cod ad chips”
Doh Fish & Chip shops that charge £9 are selling a luxury product
so why complain about the price
It’s like saying champagne is expensive
I can make f&c at home for £1
Especially these days cos local shops seem to have a glut of cod and have been selling two 160g portions for £1
(At same time other boxes on their shelves are mega expensive)

Good luck with that, Christ only knows what white substance they put inside it
Maybe found festering on the seashore for a couple of days and quickly covered in breadcrumbs .
Meanwhile Captain Birdseye has been sobered up for a day or two to give it a thumbs up.
I’d rather risk a Richmond sausage, there’s probably more sea life inside there dropped by seagulls on the roads near the factory that the foxes daren’t even bother with.

I was appalled when I found out why Richmond sausages are called Richmond sausages ..

The replier there literally says
“More importantly … it went on air without anyone saying anything ”
He can’t have been watching
cos Lisa explains “They said at the start that Nimco Ali was supposed to be on but her flight was cancelled.”

“Broadband only 26 paand a munf”

The Chinese and the English language:
I took the (Chinese) wife to a Whitesnake concert just before Xmas a few years ago , Dave Coverdale, the singer frequently shouted “Happy Fucking Christmas”.
I came home a week later to a very depressed Chinese wife, her English teacher, various bus drivers, the proprieter of the local shop and the postman are no longer talking to her, she had been enthusiatically spreading Mr Whitesnake’s comment as a traditional English greeting.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-65801103
Just look at this yet again. Another complete non-story pushed to be the main headline day after day because of the civil service and the BBC’s anti-government agenda to get Labour in at the next election. How many times have they done this now ? – they are relentless.
This latest BBC trick of constantly bombarding the public is an outrageous abuse of power. OFCOM are a complete disgrace.
