Don’t look forward in hope edition

End of the road for Johnson… Sunak allies claim former PM’s political career is over… – that’s your Times leader today and there’s more liberal establishment wishy-washy wishful thinking in their frontpage photo caption: Emma Webber, whose son Barnaby was murdered in Nottingham, told a crowd in the city to hold no hate…

The formerly patriotic Times is the BBC’s top pick for their online press line-up. It’s purportedly a conservative paper, but there’s certainly nothing there to dismay our BBC boys and girls.

Next up at the BBC is the unashamedly left-leaning ‘i’ newspaper. The city of Nottingham is apparently supposed to forgive and forget, whereas: Covid families Bereaved seek an apology from Johnson

What exactly constitutes a Covid family? The simple answer is they have a relative deceased during that recent past period of ours when doctors were writing the word Covid on death certificates rather a lot. Dare we say doctors ‘assigned‘ the cause of death as Covid?

You’ll note perhaps this is a departure from the current leftist (and increasingly official) distrust in our heroic medics’ judgement as it may pertain to birth certificates: Now NHS midwives are told that sex is ‘ASSIGNED’ at birth: Royal college’s ‘inclusivity’ (Mail Online)

He lied and lied and lied – is the charge against Boris in the ‘i’ screamer headline.

Is that not the job description of every politician these days? Name a Tory minister that hasn’t lied and lied and lied for the last decade over – for instance – their supposed efforts to control hyper-immigration?

As the right attempts to expunge one of the most electorially popular of their own, the left (and right – knowing no friend/enemy distinction) meanwhile respectfully mourns the passing of one of the left’s own: Fearless and ferocious Tributes to Glenda Jackson (‘i’); An actress and MP like no other (Daily Mail)

The irony of the use of former Labour MP Glenda’s picture in her acting career role of England’s sea border-defending Good Queen Bess in both left-leaning ‘i’ and right-leaning Express is perhaps lost: know I have the body of a weak and feeble woman; but I have the heart and stomach of a king, and of a king of England too, and think foul scorn that Parma or Spain, or any prince of Europe, should dare to invade the borders of my realm (Royal Museums Greenwich)

No such heavy white make up, ginger wig, steel corset and Tudor lace ruff patriotism is on show in the Telegraph which fetches out a vintage glamour shot of our Glenda from the archives snapped by 60s celeb photographer Terry O’Neill. Not an obvious pin-up but she had something about her.

Whenever there’s a muderous outrage committed and it looks as though a new-comer to our shores might be the perpetrator our establishment media tends to go through something akin to what psychologists term the five stages (some say there’s seven stages) of grief…

So you’ll notice broadcast reports of: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance – now we’re sadly accustomed to these things happening on a fairly regular basis – Annecy preceeding Nottingham by barely a week – our media perforce have to shift through those gears pretty damned quickly: Suspect in knife attack was student at the same university – pleads the giveaway freesheet Metro and Mr AsI leaves it to readers hereabouts to assign (so to speak) that report headline to one of those five stages – I think we’re already at acceptance. For a prospective sixth and concluding stage I’d plump for blame the security services – as if they didn’t meanwhile have thousands of these dubious characters on their books.

The saucy Mail teases: Starting tomorrow: Our erudite new columnist who’ll be required reading in Westminster – and across the world! ?

Boris moonlighting at his former journalism gig? I don’t know, but that’s what the Mail want you to think.

Finding more inspiration in history than the tosh we get in the news Mr AsI happily alighted on that Queen Bess speech to the troops at Tilbury and read with ineterest these less familiar lines: We have been persuaded by some that are careful of our safety to take heed how we commit ourselves to armed multitudes, for fear of treachery. But I assure you, I do not desire to live to distrust my faithful and loving people.

Our politicians don’t tend to do walkabouts among the troops – read plebs – these days. And they do certainly distrust the people.

When there’s a tragic incident that needs brushing under the carpet of diversity rather than turn up at the scene and trot out their pet political platitudes in person they much prefer to manipulate relatives still in a malleable state of shock into mouthing their forgive and forget speech making.

Far better that Rishi keep his distance… persuaded by some that are careful of his safety… things can go very wrong if people ask the wrong questions

That’s why Downing Street is gated and guarded by armed police these days.

We recall how poor old Gordon Brown tried to mix with the plebs and defend his and his mate Tony’s open border policies and soon found himself confronted by what he considered a bigoted woman.

The BBC latest headline on Ukraine.

When fed through ‘Google translate’ you get:

‘The counter offensive is a disaster’.

    Because they aren’t reporting it.

I watched a video yesterday telling me that the Ukranian soldiers fighting it are basically young recruits fresh from their NATO-approved training courses. Apparently one batallion commander is under 30 and all his commanding officers are mid-20’s. They are making the most basic of tactical errors against experienced Russians and are getting blown to pieces while Russia have learned tactics to deal with the advanced weapons.

Perhaps one of the BBC ‘surveillance team’ (we know you are lurking) reading this can direct the new ‘Verify team’ onto it ?.

That video clip of the Wickes boss is video 6 in a series
Someone cut up by taking all his speech in the video conference.
It’s in video 5 he refers to a 10% who he thinks falsely say they boycott Wickes, he then says the majority of the rest are kind but ignorant
That’s not the same as saying 90% are ignorant.

In another part he brags that Wickes have risen to #1 in The Stonewall rankings from 439
“I wonder if it occurred to Fraser that their meteoric rise up the Stonewall list is because so many organisations have left?”
And that’s the point. He’s been captured by Stonewall dogma.

Gary Lineker should have an interview with Nigel Farage, Mark Steyn, Thomas Sowell, Jacob Rees-Mogg and ask them why they thought it was a good idea to leave? Why they had a difference of opinion, or is that not allowed?

Mr.Lineker can find more names here at the BBC website – where he works – EU vote: Where the cabinet and other MPs stand {bbc.co.uk – 22Jun2016} for a different opinion, if he wants to seek one, he probably passes these people in the BBC halls many times a day.

If Gary still lives in Richmond Park Constituency he will be fascinated to know that his MP, Zac Goldsmith, voted to leave the EU so he can go and have a chat at an open doors surgery and take some crisps for the wait in the reception area.

Gary could send one of his researchers here, so rather than looking up who scored what and when they could see what Zac Goldsmith voted for {theyworkforyou.com} and if he agrees with him or not.

Gary could spend some time looking into how the EU Works and that it represents what he believes in.

He could listen to David Cameron on speaking in the USA (6.5.2014) “..but I don’t want to be part of a Country called Europe. I want to be part of a Country called Great Britain.”

Gary can ask Angela Merkel why Greece’s Military spending was protected from Austerity with Germany selling Greece Military Equipment (Industrial)?
      Greece’s austerity doesn’t extend to its arms budget – {guardian – 21Mar2012}

Gary Lineker is rich, famous and has plenty of time to find the answers to all these things, and should be able to back up his ideas with sound reasons. He can also seek a difference of opinion if he really wanted to.

TOADY WATCH #1 – er, I think not, I disagree

Glenda Jackson, has died aged 87. While there are family and friends who mourn her death and will miss her, she did manage almost half a decade over the average UK life expectancy for a woman, especially one who had moved south* and been an actress and MP. She was described early on in today’s programme as a ‘beautiful’ actress!

It was announced before I went back to sleep that Fiona Shaw would be doing a tribute, again words used were: ‘to this beautiful actress’. Why didn’t the BBC go for broke and get the wrinkled Niked Gargler (Mim, something or other, memorably refered to by our Fed as a gargoyle) on to do a tribute, too. I like to think that Snuffy is something of an aesthete and appreciative of what John Swannell, photographer, would call ‘Fine Lines’ a.k.a. beauty. After all, beauty is said to be ‘in the eye of the beholder’.

The other expression ‘Back of a (London Transport) bus on a wet weekend’ also comes to mind. 😉

(*Techy note: Life expectancy is best in the UK if you are a woman and born in London or the Home Counties. Glenda Jackson was born in the Midlands, in the Notingham area if I recall correctly. She originally worked for Boots the Chemist in Nottingham.)

I read some years ago a piece about government-funded agencies that take action after terrorist attacks to steer public opinion with pre-built campaigns. Social media hashtags, banners proclaiming love, ‘we’re united’ type stuff. Can’t find it now, does anyone here know?

The response to Nottingham is very weird. How is it that parents of murdered kids appear in public 24hrs later giving speeches and carefully cultivated messages of kindness and love? And the ‘Nottingham Together’ banner… and the family of Ian Coates who were wearing Forest shirts with ‘RIP Dad’ on them. Who decided to get them printed so quickly?

I don’t think I’m being too cynical, it’s just implausible that these things happen organically without various players working fast behind the scenes.

1985 Ahmadis suffer vicious persecution around the world. The main source of fuel for that persecution is in Pakistan, but what happens in Pakistan does not stay in Pakistan.

I know that from my experience in the Yorkshire market town of Batley. In August 1985, when I was 11 years old, my parents organised an inter-faith meeting in the town hall. It was interrupted and disturbed when, according to West Yorkshire police,

more than 1,000 extremists, led by Pakistani hate preachers funded by the Pakistani state, were bused in from around the country.

The mob brutally attacked my English mother and my father, a dermatologist; my eldest brother and I; and a Welsh Ahmadi schoolteacher who was with us. My first cousin, a GP, was by chance driving through the market town that day. He saw the mob and saw his family and friends being attacked, so he stopped. He was recognised, pulled from his vehicle and savagely beaten up.

It’s being said that the progression of non native species from the South, Northwards into Britain is due to global warming. This was put forward as an explanation of why non lonative species of hornets are being found in the Midlands.

In my view it could also be due to adaption and evolution and global cargo and population movement. After all, most of the UK, during the last ice age, would have been denuded of many animal species. Most animals species we now have in Britain would have descended from invasive species after the ice age

In the same way as simply waving ‘asylum seekers’ through, (getting the numbers down) and granting them permission to stay, Rashid Sanook looks like he is happy to let the prisoners out (Pitchfork) thus making more prison spaces available.

    Chicken and egg.
Over half the Albanians are granted asylum here which must mean they are genuine. This is the reason the lefties give to support granting asylum to Albanians. They get granted asylum therefore they are genuine.
They should be proven to be genuine before being granted asylum and not granted asylum so they must be genuine.

There is now a mountain of evidence that the Biden Crime Syndicate have been raking in money from foreign companies and government agencies, for years. And not just any old banana republics in South America or Africa. Oh, no – three of the most explosive hotspots on the planet, 2 of them inimical to the West: China, Russia and Ukraine.
On top of that are the associated scandals of FBI and CIA collusion, and msm and Big Tech cover-ups.
Put all that together and you’ve got the biggest political scandal of the decade, if not the century, if not of all time.

And what does the BBC do about it? Absolutely nothing. Oh, look: Trump has documents in his home, like every other President including Biden.

    Article from UK Column News

    Purple Hoax

Thought I’d email them about my concerns, and am eagerly awaiting a reply. (not).

    Me to the FCDO:

    Dear Sir / Madam,

I’ve been reading with interest the recent statements by Mr.Kariuki in association with yourselves, and I found myself questioning the narrative somewhat.

Firstly, the statement on ‘Climate Change’ risks and conflict reduction. I quote:

“Finally, climate and conflict risk reduction and early responses should be integrated into humanitarian, peacebuilding and development programmes”.

Could you please advise me as to how this possibly squares with the Government’s continued support for Ukraine in terms of not just fossil-fuel burning military equipment, but actual toxic nuclear material in the form of depleted uranium shells ?

I don’t personally buy into the Climate ‘Crisis’ propaganda, and by the looks of it , HM Government doesn’t either, otherwise it wouldn’t be fuelling the conflict further, and depleting our domestic economy, so obviously there is a disconnect between FCDO’s actions, and Mr.Kariuki’s staement(s).

Secondly, we have this statement from Mr.Kariuki:

“Freedom of religion or belief, including the freedom not to have a religion, is a fundamental human right.

And yet, religious minorities have time and again been specifically targeted, including in conflict. This was a key finding of the report commissioned by the former UK Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt from the Bishop of Truro.

From the Yezidis in Iraq, to the Rohingya in Myanmar, to the recent case of the Baha’i in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen, minorities are too often targeted on the grounds of religion or belief. Indeed, there is evidence that religious or belief minorities may avoid seeking humanitarian aid due to fear or intolerance. Including Sunni Muslims in Syria, Shi’a Hazara communities in Afghanistan and Christian communities in Nigeria.

When communities come under attack in situations of conflict, it is the role of this Council to address it. There is more we and the UN system can do to monitor incitement to violence against all minority communities in conflict. We should assure we have the tools in place for horizon scanning to address incitement and extremist rhetoric before it tips over into violence.

Religious communities and leaders have a responsibility to reject hate and extremism in their name which can fuel violence and conflict. They can also play a unique role in conflict prevention, reconciliation, and peacebuilding initiatives, including at the grassroots level, where interreligious and intercultural dialogue can help build trust and understanding between communities, and combat intolerance.”

So, I fail to understand how this squares with the fact that UK Government are continuing to support the Kiev Regime (including actual Nazi affiliates) in the persecution of Orthodox Christian Churches in Ukraine. If you could kindly explain these conundrums, I would be most grateful.

    Yours most Sincerely,
Remain on the right side of History, even if you find yourself on the wrong side of what they call ‘Law’.

The new(?) correspondent then just repeated what we had heard from the Presenter in the London Studio, something of a wasted salary there! I think there was another new(?) presenter on TWatO today with Jonny ‘Dalek’ Dymond in charge as the Montacutie is long-weekending – again.

No doubt late to mention Glenda Jackson but popping up on my phone just now was a piece about her telling vindictive lies about Margaret Thatcher during the Commons tributes when she died. So I have no compunction to say what a vile and nasty piece of work she was herself. No doubt a great actress but as thick as the proverbial pile of planks covered in mince.

Further to that I just saw that Angela Rayner called Boris Johnson a criminal and a liar for doing exactly the same as she did herself. She got away with it because the police didn’t want to take action against her and Starmer unlike the Met Farce who came down heavily on Johnson for doing the same thing.

Where do the left find these awful women? Like with Jackson she makes my flesh crawl when I see her on television.

It’s the most tragic thing since WW2. And the BBC don’t care one bit about the slaughter of these incredibly brave young men.

They only care about giving us their political narrative.

I’m ex-forces and I can only begin to imagine what it’s like for these men – on both sides – to be thrown into this meat grinder. But what makes it worse is that nobody knows. The BBC are FAR more interested in empathy stories like old women stood crying outside their demolished house or babies being carried out of rubble.

What the BBC have shown us they are about this and all the other death they don’t report if it doesn’t match their agenda actually sickens me (and by ‘BBC’ I mean ‘The Left’ in general). They are the lowest form of scum.

But we should not be surprised. The socialists have demonstrated these same qualities time and again throughout history resulting in the deaths of countless millions. They believe their ideological ends always justify the means.

JohnC, I’ve noticed this too, and I can’t help thinking this stems from the BBC’s ‘agenda hierarchy’.

Basically, we have the most ‘disadvantaged’ – black, women, LGBT++++, disabled, young, at the top of the BBC hierarchy of ‘woke value’, and the most ‘advantaged’ (according to the BBC) – white, men, heterosexuals, middle aged or older, able bodied, at the bottom. For some reason (perhaps because so many BBC staff come from upper middle class backgrounds themselves) wealth is the one exception to the rule – middle class people still trump the working class in BBC world.

The young men who are fighting and dying are almost without exception: white, heterosexual lads, and presumably mostly of the poorer classes – therefore, of no great value, or interest in BBC land, the bottom of the ‘agenda heap’. ‘Cannon fodder’ in fact, which is oddly enough exactly what the likes of Putin think of them too – poor bastards.

Having a son the same age as many of them, I’m well aware how many families (Russian and Ukrainian) must be grieving right now.

BBC, I’ve learned that the Left are weak, shallow, self-centred people. Characteristics that also cause them to be greedy and selfish – but needing others to convince them they are better than that.

Thus I believe all of what you describe is nothing more complicated than group-think based virtue-signalling.

The BBC staff illustrate that perfectly now. They need ‘victims’ so they can virtue-signal their compassion and empathy. They don’t care about anything they can’t use for that.

Scrobie, I seem to recall that the National apple seed collection is held in Kent, is it at West Malling?

AFAIK apples are not normally grown from seeds
        rather you graft for resilience
Tech in last 40 years means lower profits for exporters
cos nations can store their own apples for ages rather than rely on imports during the off season.

Stew, I have been to Brogdale and it wasn’t mentioned that they held the National seed a.k.a. pip collection. I think it is more of a ‘seed bank’ as at Kew and also in Scandinavia somewhere maybe also with root stocks. Yes, you are right. Apples tend to come from trees. Had relatives who lived in Hereford which is another county to compete with Kent for apple and hop growing. Am sure I heard a visit of the BBC R4, may be Farming Today, to this seed bank or whatever and whereever it is.

Many pips from cooking apples, Bramleys, proudly bearing stickers ‘Grown in Britain’ (und nach ein Deutsche supermarket!) seem to me to be skinny and thin and I guess infertile. I intend to experiment sometime. Currently my collection is in the refridgerator or scattered elsewhere in small containers about the house.

From the DT – robin aitkin ? On the war path against comrade Robinson – whom I describe using the Worst Word in the English Language – STARTS

I’ll say this for Nick Robinson: he’s clearly picked up some tips from the politicians he regularly grills on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme. You all know the tactic – faced with an awkward question, they choose to answer another one so that the interview becomes a pointless and frustrating exercise in shadow-boxing. Interviewers like Mr Robinson frequently deplore this slippery tactic, so it is no credit to him when he stoops to the same thing.

To recap: earlier this month, Mr Robinson gave an interview to the trade paper Press Gazette in which he implied that Britain was in danger of losing something precious: to wit “news we can trust”. He suggested that Ofcom, the media regulator, had surreptitiously changed the rules on impartiality so that outfits like TalkTV and GB News can broadcast stuff that Mr Robinson had always understood was forbidden. He called for a public debate on Ofcom’s understanding of impartiality.

I responded to Mr Robinson’s interview in a comment piece for the Telegraph in which I said that he was “deluded” if he thought the country needs a debate about GB News and TalkTV: much more important, I maintained, was to have a debate about the BBC’s “impartiality” in which I do not believe.

Mr Robinson took exception and wrote a letter to this newspaper in which he seemed to misrepresent what I had written. He said I had accused him of being “deluded” for wanting a debate on Ofcom’s rules on impartiality – which could hardly be further from the truth. In fact, I have spent 25 years, when I was at the BBC and since I left it, agitating for exactly that – a proper public debate about impartiality.

It might suit Mr Robinson’s purpose to portray me as against a debate. The difference between us is that he appears to want a debate about GB News and TalkTV, whereas I want one about the broadcasting elephant-in-the-room.

Why does this matter? With respect to GB News, TalkTV and others, they are midgets compared to the BBC. The Corporation claims that over 90 per cent of us use at least one BBC service every week and I believe that because the BBC offers highly professional content across all the main platforms – TV, radio, the internet, podcasts. And BBC impartiality matters in a unique sense because, if we have a TV set, we are obliged, on pain of being fined or even imprisoned, to pay the annual BBC licence fee, currently £159.

The licence fee is a huge privilege, offering predictable income that other broadcasters or media organisations would die for; but it comes with the solemn obligation to be “impartial” across all output. We all pay for it, therefore all of us have a right to hear our views represented. It is my belief, based on 25 years as a BBC staff reporter, partly on Today, that the Corporation is anything but “impartial”. I think it has very strong views of its own on everything from Brexit – it is fiercely pro EU – to moral issues like abortion, where it is dogmatically pro-abortion.

What is more, from having written extensively about this for The Daily Telegraph, I know many readers agree with me and there is growing anger at the dishonesty of the BBC. Indeed, opinion polling shows public trust in it is steadily ebbing, with barely half of the audience now thinking it represents “people like me”. My first book about the Corporation was entitled Can We Trust the BBC?; millions of us now answer with a resounding “No”.

So here’s my challenge to Mr Robinson. You want a public debate on impartiality? Bring it on! Anytime, any place, lets you and I meet on a public stage and have our say. There, I’ve thrown down the gauntlet. Are you going to pick it up?ENDS

Fed, you are right. I caught Marianna Spring’s Verify thing on Wednesday. Was busy/forgot on Mon&Tue, forgot yesterday and doing something else today. It appeared to me to be merely an attack on The Light newspaper and its editor. Marianna said she was going to interview Darren Nesbitt for Thursday programme. I have a copy, Issue 17, which was given to me in Canterbury.

It is heavily anti-vaccine and on the evidence available I would echo that but only for the Covid-19 vaccines. I think other vaccines should be treated like any vaccine or medication come to that. I have considerable personal experience of the harm that can be done by meds and vaxxs, but think vaccines with the possible exception of influenza vaccine are general beneficial as are many medications.

I will try and do a review of my copy.
