Put your feet up Dave and don’t bother.

You and your mate Sunak will be out of a job in a few months. No bad thing considering nobody voted for either of you to do the ones you have now.

David Cameron had arrived in China with a plan to secure money for a $1bn UK-China fund that was set to make the former prime minister a rich financier and cement ties between London and Beijing.

One of his fundraising targets during trips in 2017 and 2018 was China’s sovereign wealth fund, the China Investment Corporation. Cameron wanted CIC to invest hundreds of millions of dollars, said people familiar with the matter.

The details of Cameron’s attempt to raise money from an arm of the Chinese state are part of the baggage he has brought into the heart of the UK government after his surprise appointment as foreign secretary.

The Council has used its reserves to bridge gaps in its finances over the last few years and further use of reserves remains part of the Budget Strategy with a further £7.5 million to be used over the coming years. Other components of the strategy in priority order include :

Continue to support our wholly owned companies, OX Place and Oxford Direct Services in delivery of houses and front line services.

Making a further £17 million of efficiencies and increased income from fees and charges leading to ongoing increases of £3.8 million annually with effect from 2028-29.

Continue with our approach to service transformation, for instance by reducing our office footprint, restructuring management tiers, making new use of technology and improving how these systems operate, reviewing how we procure goods and services and continuing with our progress to enabling access to more services electronically on line and self- service by our customers.

“After months of fierce fighting, small groups of Russian troops have reached the heavily damaged eastern Ukrainian town of Avdiivka and are trying to gain a foothold there.”

So bbc how did they finally get in?

“All attempts by Russian troops to advance there have failed. Until now.’

    So how?

“This is, however, the first time that Russians have managed to enter the town since the start of the full-scale invasion in February 2022.”

    How??
What the BBC doesn’t want to tell, is the Russians found an old 2km long pipe, which they sneaked down to suprise the Ukrainians and finally get a foothold.
Guess only the Ukrainians are allowed such stories.
They also neglect the fact that Avdiivka was shelling the Donetsk separatists since 2014.

The BBC shelled out a whopping £136 million last year for license fee collection, and hired over 1,000 personnel as part of the fee enforcement brigade. Perhaps investing in staff who adhere to the impartiality rules would be a better use of that money…

Now the fee has been hiked to £169.50 a year, Griffith is arguing that the current funding model cannot continue, something Guido can agree on. Griffith attacks the fact that licence fee evasion cases are prosecuted by the BBC’s TV Licensing arm, pointing to a suggestion that they should instead use the Crown Prosecution Service to avoid a Post Office-like scandal, where the “little person” is mercilessly and unjustly prosecuted. Strong and wise words…

The BBC has an unrivalled, international reputation for bringing the natural world and environmental content to audiences.

We know that we need to match our celebration of this world on-screen, with the care we take of it off-screen. We’ve been at the forefront of sustainable television production for over a decade – developing the industry’s albert carbon calculator and sustainable production certification scheme, now used in 48 countries – to both measure and then mitigate our environmental impacts.

But as the science becomes clearer we know we need to go further.

Ultimately, we want to be a net positive company, giving back more to planet earth than we take out. The first step is to get to net zero across all our operations – dramatically reducing our carbon emissions and absorbing what’s left.

Here’s how we intend to do it:

Transition: We are transitioning to green energy with a focus on energy reduction, efficiency and electrification.
Regenerate: We are contributing to the regeneration of nature at our UK sites, and in the long term, when we really can’t reduce our own emissions any further, we’ll invest in natural systems and technologies that can absorb what’s left.
Sustain: We know that we can’t ‘offset’ our way out of this problem. The BBC’s principal focus will be the hard work of ‘deep decarbonisation’ – tackling our greenhouse gas emissions at source and eliminating them there. This is what we think is the most sustainable way forward, for us as a corporation and for planet earth.
These principles guide all our activities – from the way we make programmes, to how we manage our buildings and to how we engage with our suppliers and partners.

And, because being guided by the science is key, we’ve had our targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative, an independent, international body that defines and promotes the highest standards in greenhouse gas emission reduction. Following their recommendations, we’ve committed to reducing the emissions from our direct operations by 46% and from our value chain by 28%, both by 2030.

The BBC are fond of telling us – or inviting talking heads to tell us – that immigration is a net benefit, bla bla.

Of course the elephant in the room is what kind of immigrant, exactly.

A few more German engineers would benefit the economy, no doubt, as would some American entrepreneurs, Scandinavian furniture designers, Swiss doctors, Polish builders or French chefs (though personally I would prefer the less arrogant Italians).

However, certain other ‘communities’ and religions bring third world ‘values’, fail to integrate, have no skills and often actively wish us harm.

Because any mention of race or religion would instantly end a political career if not land the proponent in jail, the taboo provides a convenient way for leftists to completely shut down any proper discussion, and we’re left with the ongoing shambles we are experiencing, with no end in sight.

The lecturer further argued that Douglas Murray and Joe Rogan are both examples of the far right. ‘To what extent should Joe Rogan and Douglas Murray be suppressed?’ he asked. ‘They have millions of followers. To de-platform them would cause issues.’

Concluding his talk, the lecturer told a room full of government professionals, ‘so, society needs to find other ways to suppress them.’

On a train from London to Manchester, an American was berating a British guy sitting across from him in the compartment, about Britain leaving Europe.

“The trouble with you English is that you are too stuffy. You set yourselves apart too much and it is going to be worse now you are leaving the EU. You think your stiff upper lip makes you above the rest of us.

Look at me . . . . . I’m an ‘all rounder me! I have a little Italian in me, a bit of Greek blood, a little Irish and some Spanish blood. What do you say to that?”

    The British fellow lowered his newspaper, looks over his glasses at the American and replies;

“Well, that was terribly sporting of your mother”

The obscene verdicts and punishments of Trump in the US and Fox in the UK both highlight what is actually going on. The left wing have captured the forces of Law and Order and now press them to viciously attack any opposition to their political view.

There will be dire consequences when natural, sane, fair, balanced operation of the law is dumped to enable political witch hunts where the accused has no chance of winning as they are marked guilty by the judicial left before the cases even come to court.

This is the same modus operandi used by dictators throughout the years from Stalin to Pol Pot. The aim is not to hand out justice but to damage and try to silence opposition.

Bleak times… we can only hope that joe public, and especially in the US can see through this and throw these evil, biased and devious people out of power once and for all.

In the case of Trump I believe the case will probably reinforce his position and convince growing numbers of right-minded citizens to reject these forces of evil. If they do in numbers, these people are likely to end up feeling the heat, including the warped partisan politicians, judges and lawyers.

Lawfare is a very dirty business

One thing that’s niggled me for decades is the relative anonymity of British judges ( and to a lesser extent barristers) vs. their American counterparts. There are differences and you wouldn’t, I feel, get to see the sort of conflict disclosure in the UK that we’ve seen in the Trump E. Jean Carroll case.

Too easy thinking that courts offer a fair fight based on the evidence and strict interpretation of the law while sometimes behind the scenes there’s a very, very different game going on.

Not all lawyers are equal, not all judges are equal. In the professions political fashion changes – imagine finding a primary or junior school teacher who’s a Conservative?

That said, the Steyn-Mann climate court fight is imho presently rather good spectacle. The folk producing the podcast have done a good job.

Tomo – at one time I fancied becoming a barrister as I liked the costume – so I did the exams upto law – masters and came across quite a few lawyers – I also worked with the CPS .
I always thought the relationship of the independent judiciary was ‘fragile ‘… when I saw that Blair finale with the House of Lords judiciary committee – and turned it into a ‘Supreme Court ‘ I got worried . My worries were confirmed when the brexit case was held – and it now turns out that the top layer of judges has been politically corrupted …
But nowhere as bad at the US …. Which is now Russia

Thanks – Blair et als interaction with the independent judiciary are deserving of a *lot* more attention.

Overall it seems likely there’s seriously murky goings on I feel – jury tampering (think ABC Trial ) has to be in there, the clearly organised vindictiveness towards Tommy Robinson, the protection of Greville Janner, slow rolling (obstructing even) some cases while others seem to whizz through. It’s not paranoia if they’re actually out to get you.

I was told a tale at the end of the 1990s about a disgruntled jock who phoned in a bomb threat to a Scottish Lodge meeting and videoed the assembled folk on the street.

Russia? – there are voices in America who seem to bring receipts that the DNC’s antics have emplace a whole troupe of Roland Freisler types. George Soros’s (successful) focus on sponsoring District Attorney appointments seems to synch with that perception.

TWatO Watch #1 – the BBC in the vanguard to re-join the EU

The Montacutie really wanted Edwin Poots, former Leader of the DUP, to state that Northern Ireland and the UK were really quite close to the regulations of the EU and that if the DUP agreed to re-start the Stormont Assembly they were in effect to agreeing to EU rule over Northern Ireland. Edwin Poots refused to play ball as Sarah wanted and stated quite categorically – on two occasions – that the UK would not unilaterally re-negotiate The Windsor Agreement.

EXCL: Keir Starmer’s office has begun polling British Muslim voters amid growing concern in senior Labour ranks about damage done to their core vote by row over party’s position on Middle East.

Pippster and Labour might ponder the reaction of the rest of the country to kow towing to what is still a small, if vocal and media deranging minority.

The police and mainstream media could be held responsible for the death.
Police should have just keep the search for them quiet, and done their job themselves.
Instead they pretended it was a missing persons hunt, and the press went along. Plastering their photos everywhere.
Then the obnoxious couple went on the run and were chased with cctv, town to town, Argos to Argos
And despite having the money for hotels , ended up sleeping in a tent in mid winter.
Guess they thought they’d catch them quickly and it’d set a nice blueprint, for involving the bored silly public in future manhunts.
Maybe a nightly broadcast of the days targets, criminals and eventually wrong thinkers etc to go out and look out for.
    Instead the babies dead.

    Laugh? I nearly did.

The main story on the bbc front page concerns Gaza. It shows a bombed out building and the snazzy bbc verify logo. Without any awareness of the irony, the foreground of the picture shows the obligatory wailing crone. Fine, but unless I’m mistaken, I’d swear that said wailer has been photoshopped into the shot.

No need for Photoshop, there’s always a dumpy wailer nearby for hire, plus men and boy rubble inspectors.
