Midweek 5th June 2024

The 5th of June – the original D Day – but held up because of the weather . During the BBC coverage of the 80th anniversary on the 6th – will there be a reference to ‘climate change ‘? How much will the BBC devalue such a sacred anniversary ? Rest in Peace all those boys whose lives were taken from them to free Europe ..

I thought I’d dip sample to see what programmes the BBC R4 state radio has about the 80th anniversary of D Day .. as I scanned the list I thought maybe I’d got the wrong day – as there was nothing ….. I should have known better …

… in recent weeks R4extra put out a from when the BBC was British …

The road to Normandy – 1st June – put out in 1985 – 90 minutes

I wonder when we will start seeing ‘Free car when you buy a battery’ offers.

Older ev’s will be hard to shift as battery replacement is uneconomical. They will be dumped, insurance scammed (fire) or a charge paid to take them away for disposal.

BBC News not even trying to hide the bias — “Europe’s centre left struggles to hold back surge from right”

“… At stake was how to halt the seemingly unstoppable rise of right-wing and far-right parties in the European Parliament vote […] Only four EU member states have centre-left or left-wing parties in government and recent performances at the ballot box have been poor. The omens for the coming days are not good.”

Or they are if that’s what the demos wants, right Laura? Or do omens work only in one direction.

Mark Zuckerberg says Facebook restricting a story about Joe Biden’s son during the 2020 election was based on FBI misinformation warnings.

The New York Post alleged leaked emails from Hunter Biden’s laptop showed the then vice-president was helping his son’s business dealings in Ukraine.

Facebook and Twitter restricted sharing of the article, before reversing course amid allegations of censorship.

Much backlash against Farage’s remark: “I could take you to streets in Oldham right now where no one speaks English”.

Sunder Katwala here (new book out today: ‘How to Be a Patriot: The must-read book on British national identity and immigration’) with what he thinks is a fact-check and a gotcha… by quoting ONS data showing only 25% don’t speak it or don’t speak it well.

Except praxis vs doxis… just because they can, doesn’t mean they do. An ability to speak English is not the same as colloquial language use. On my north London high street at least 75% of language use is non-English on an average day. Whatever they put on the census form.

But field research is not very popular these days, whether on immigration, or covid, or climate etc, and over-confidence in limited data sets will be the ruin of us.

    —————
    @sundersays
There are some small areas – areas of 2-3 streets – of Oldham where only 75% of people speak English. There are not going to be any streets where nobody speaks English
    ———
    @omaromalleykhan
Looking at output areas (areas ranging from 100 to 625 ppl) in Oldham, the highest proportion in any area who dont speak it or dont speak it well is around 1 in 4

This means that in the least English-speaking neighbourhood, 75% speak it well or very well

    World at one

D day being used by the likes of some retired chief of the army wanting more troops to be able to ‘fight for our freedom ‘ and he could see another war in Europe …

I think if he is looking for an enemy it has already invaded and is busily gathering strength and support without any one stopping it . Indeed it has infiltrated the ‘establishment ‘ and taken keys bits over already .

The British state is already on the verge of being an enemy to those who dissent from it .

Is Russia or China a bigger threat ? No .

And besides – any conventional war – such as an invasion of a Baltic state or Poland would escalate so quickly that no number of soldiers would make a difference … wouid just be a matter of who used The Bomb first …

Just to add to the above – that General must be so used to using approved views – part of his group think – that he cannot see what is happening in Britain – on the streets and institutions – hollow words like ‘freedom ‘ and ‘way of life ‘ and ‘democracy ‘ ….
And must sound even more out of place and time to our Jewish brothers …..

They say the next war won’t be like the last one – but this general character has the mind set of a conventional war – suitable for use in Ukraine – but not so much in NATO .

Biggest mistake Ukraine made was getting rid of its’ nuclear weapons – although maybe for us it was a good thing …

    BIDEN…IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT….

Good to see and hear Joe Biden ( who holds the office of President of the U.S.A. …..imagine that) get through a speech in Normandy about sacrifice , service, duty ,etc, etc, and all well said (but coming from him ,a five times Vietnam war draft dodger…sorry that’s not fair …he had asthma and very badly at that! despite playing football and of course famously being a roughie, toughie life guard) It’s a bit much to take.

How very sad that the children of the men who stormed those hostile beaches are so let down by the current crop of politicians.

Good thing there is an election and all sorts of candidates to chose from..we can send a message, if we get out and vote for something different….go on ..I dare you.

    This is abysmal reporting.
How did we reach the point where our national news station reports verbatim the press releases of violent jihadists?
The Israelis struck Hamas fighters using a school as cover. Save your outrage for the monstrous cowards who use human shields.

Abysmal, but no surprise. The point was reached when the bbc handed editorial to diverse activists.

I have listened to most of the ‘filler’ episodes after TWatO has finished at 1.45pm. Last week and this it has been ‘Thief at the British Museum’ with Katie Razzle. Her diction is improving; must be the influence of the actor hubby. However the quality of the ‘fillers’ are not improving.

    1. There is too much padding and there is too much intrusive music. For seriously deaf people it must be a nightmare to listen.
    2. Katie only introduces each episode some way into the episode. Why cannot it be done ‘up front’?

I am forced to conclude that Gwyneth Williams did a great deal of damage to Radio Four when she was Radio Four Controller; not least expanding TWatO with a load of ‘padding’ and then dispensing with the 1.30 p.m. Comedy or Panel Game. The damage continues under her successor, Mohit Bakaya. He has messed about with the time of the ‘Archers Omnibus’ on Sunday mornings. I’m usually in Church then so it doesn’t matter to me but it is said ‘mess about with the Archers broadcast at your peril, Controllers of Radio4!’

I have always been an apostle of the theory that the more managers there are – and the more – hierarchy – the more they screw things up ….
Is there a BBC manager who has taken something and improved it – the popularity – the figures after leaving it – in recent times ? I ask because I don’t know the answer ….

It’s also the small things – the old tunes which were played at the start of the day on R4 – for ever – just dumped – then they introduced ‘tweet of the day ‘ and dumped it –

It’s the small stuff which anchors radio Listeners .. every change adds – thankfully – to the decline and loyalty of the listeners – ‘the message ‘ is laid on with a trowel so thickly now that even the deafest listener is noticing … all good for us… wanting to see the BBC finding it harder and harder to justify itself …

Every time this happens now I am questioning why the BBC are not asking the UN for comment as to why Hamas have been able to build all these bases on their sites.

The BBC are just ignoring what Hamas do. However bad. It stinks to high heaven.

While doing a bit of gardening today I was wondering to myself how the BBC got away with removing all the Brexit Tories to leave us with the globalist Sunak and Hunt and ensured Labour will win this time.

The answer is the same for how they are getting away with Gaza. Nobody stopped them. Anyone who might was removed with daily ‘breaking news’ headlines using dirt from civil servants.

I have no idea how this will play out over the coming years. Will the fascists prevail, or will a new right-wing party rise from the ashes of the conservative party ?. Will it even be allowed to ?.

BBC ran a doc. On Andy Malkovitch. Who served 17 years for a rape he did not commit.
He was convicted after Greater Manchester Police failed to disclose information and possibly paid a couple of miscreants, one of whom was a heroin addict, to…errr……be economical with the truth in court.
The CCRC refused leave to appeal despite new DNA evidence. Later, GMP managed to ‘lose’ the victim’s clothing thus preventing further DNA testing.
After neatly 20 years, the CCRC relented and the Court of Appeal overturned the conviction.
That is the state in action.

How long have the Post Office people been waiting for justice?
How long have the Infected Blood victims been waiting for justice?
This is the state in action.

And yet……the left wants to nationalise things. Many gullible members of the public agree. Sewage outflow from water companies? Let’s nationalise them ! And Labour want to create a state-owned company called Great British Energy.

    Be afraid. Be very afraid.

One for the cricket fans – from the DT

STARTS I’ve never commentated on a cricket match, let alone been part of the BBC’s Test Match Special (known everywhere as TMS) team. But, truth be told, ever since I was a boy, sneakily listening under my duvet late at night to the likes of Alan McGilvray commentate on the 1974/75 Ashes series down under, it’s been something of a dream.

It’s taken nearly 50 years, but now I know what I need to do to get the gig on TMS: post racist remarks on social media – and make sure that I target Jews especially.

On Tuesday, the TMS team for the Scotland v England game in the T20 World Cup included former Scotland cricketer Qasim Sheikh. The same Qasim Sheikh, that is, who has posted – and then reposted, just in case they weren’t noticed the first time – a series of jaw-droppingly racist comments online.

One image which he shared was of various world leaders including Benjamin Netanyahu, Joe Biden and Rishi Sunak with Hitler moustaches photoshopped on alongside the heading: “Kids Killer Union”. In another, after the October 7 massacre of 1200 Israelis, he wrote that Palestinians have “a right to defend themselves”.

You might have thought that posting such vile comments would give the BBC cause to reconsider whether Sheikh was an appropriate figure to have as a commentator.

Perhaps Abu Hamza wasn’t available. But no, it seems the BBC wasn’t remotely troubled by the fact that one of its commentators thinks it a good idea to post anti-Semitic bilge online.

What makes this more than merely yet another example of the BBC shooting itself in the foot, however, is the double standard it reveals.

In 2021 former England captain Michael Vaughan was accused by Yorkshire team-mate Azeem Rafiq of having made a racist remark in 2009 – which he denied. The mere accusation that Vaughan had said something led to his immediate suspension from all work with the BBC. He became persona non grata with the BBC for nearly two years until the ECB’s Cricket Disciplinary Committee cleared him of making the remark.

For Vaughan, an accusation with no supporting evidence was enough to see him barred. For Sheikh, however, actual racist posts, in his name, by his own hand, designed to be seen by as many people as possible, had zero impact on his BBC employment.

Not that this is in any way inconsistent by the BBC, when you consider its handling of Gary Lineker. In January, the Match of the Day presenter reposted a call on social media by the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic & Cultural Boycott of Israel calling for Israel to be barred from tournaments and games “until it ends its grave violations of international law… particularly its apartheid rule and the crime of genocide it is perpetuating in Gaza”.

Singling out the world’s only Jewish state for boycott is held by many to be the very definition of anti-Semitism.

Last year Lineker had the gall to upbraid Sir Simon Schama over what constitutes anti-Semitism. Lineker had posted his disagreement with Suella Braverman’s reference to “hate marches” in London, writing: “Marching and calling for a ceasefire and peace so that more innocent children don’t get killed is not really the definition of a hate march.”

Sir Simon responded: “Why would you have a ceasefire with terrorists (Hamas) whose leaders have explicitly said they want to do October 7 again and again until Israel is annihilated?”

Lineker dismissed Sir Simon thus: “Different point entirely. Doesn’t make it a hate march.”

And last November Lineker endorsed a video conversation on the theme of “Israel is committing genocide” between Owen Jones and Raz Segal, an academic whose response to the October 7 massacre was to write a piece for The Guardian telling its readers that “Israel must stop weaponising the Holocaust”. Lineker said it was “Worth 13 minutes of anyone’s time”.

Lineker has earlier been suspended over a post criticising the government’s asylum policy, but was swiftly reinstated when his colleagues threw toys out of their prams. Since then, the BBC has been happy for its star presenter to post whatever he wants, even when it is deeply offensive – and seen as poisonous – by many Jews.

There is a pattern here. Vaughan was cut loose immediately because one person alleged he had said something racist. But when the subject of a presenter or commentator’s remarks is related to Jews, the BBC offers a protective embrace. Is it any wonder the corporation is so loathed by so many in the Jewish community?ENDS

BBC – free pass for Islam – anyone else – get fried ..

The devastating cost of fighting Myanmar’s military dictatorship
    https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cydd87gen62o

My goodness : another ‘muslim victims’ empathy overload article from the BBC.

    It starts like this:
‘An abandoned Myanmar military camp sits atop a wooded hill, overlooking a picturesque lake which is well known in these parts because of its unique heart-like shape. ‘

‘Under the overcast sky, a flag flutters in the wind – red, white and blue horizontal stripes with the picture of a hornbill at the centre – the flag of the Chin National Army (CNA), an ethnic armed group fighting against Myanmar’s military junta’

‘Seventeen-year-old Lalnunpuii loved dancing. Her social media feed was full of her imitating trending viral videos.’
(Lalnunpuii is one of the rare female members. Amazingly the BBC chose her to base the article around).

The empathy is off the scale in this article. Here’s how they describe one part:

‘Both had been brutally tortured and bludgeoned to death with the butt of a gun. Lalnunpuii had been raped. Her brother’s chest, arms and genitals bore burn marks from boiling water. The BBC has seen detailed photographs of the bodies and the post-mortem reports.’

Myanmar’s military is yet to respond to the BBC’s questions about these allegations.’

All I can think about when I read this is the night-and-day difference between this report and ANY I have seen from the BBC about the civilians raped, tortured and murdered by Hamas. What Hamas did was a thousand times worse than anything here – yet I have never seen a single article trying anywhere near as hard to load up sympathy for the victims.

The difference of course is that these ‘victims’ are Muslims. The people doing the murder were Muslims in Israel and the victims were Jews.

This is about as clear an example of the agenda-based, racist bias from the BBC as you will ever get.

    Another from this one:
    9eOAZYwe_400x400.jpg
Yogita Limaye of the BBC : you should be ashamed of yourself. Try reporting facts instead of using cheap emotional trickery to sway the reader to empathise with your own racist agenda.

This is a clear sign of the extent of the new nazi fascism in the USA.

Bannon sent to jail for refusing to testify in a political witch hunt.

“This exact ‘advice of counsel’ defense is no defense at all,” Justice Bradley Garcia wrote in that decision.

The BBC fail to mention that she was appointed by the same people doing the witch hunt. Joe Biden. Another extremely important lie-by-omission by the BBC.

The best bit about that second video is how none of the staff know quite what to do as it is such an awkward moment.

Would be front page if it were Trump.

Have you seen this ?. It’s beyond ridiculous that Leftists like the BBC are ignoring it. He’s a complete embarassment.

Recently: Urgent review as D-Day parachute jump scaled back due to lack of RAF aircraft (Sky News, 19 May) – so we’ve not enough RAF planes even for our D-Day commemorative parachute jump?

Whereas today we learn: Sunak bails out before major event.. then does ITV interview – before you run away with the idea our little Rishi (seat-warmer for Starmer) is some kind of a parachuted-in all-action figure (well, admittedly he’s metaphorically the former and he could share clothes with Action Man toys) this is in fact criticism from the Labour-supporting Daily Mirror complaining how the electioneering Sunak took a rain check for the D-Day anniversary celebrations which he: skipped

There’s no working from home excuses for the Mirror’s heroes: Respect Starmer talks with Zelensky yesterday – other spellings are available, although alternative western foreign policies other than prolonged bloody and economically expensive proxy war with Russia, apparently, are not.

Of course when it comes to a muslim voter’s cause our Sir Keir can be a peacenik oncemore: Muslim supporters have been angered by Sir Keir’s stance… including his initial refusal to back their calls for a ceasefire… Starmer pledges recognition of Palestinian state in manifesto… before peace talks are over as Sir Keir Starmer tries to avoid a backlash from Muslim voters (Telegraph)

Give them Sharia Law for Birmingham and who knows who might be given a backlash?

How different could our future foreign policy be if there were instead a few million Russians suddenly ensconced in potential Labour constituencies and busy parading through London every weekend waving their foreign flags and yelling “Oorah!” at jewish people – and with snow still on their boots.

Been experiencing difficulty seeing your local GP? There’s a lot of it about. Fears for missing TV doctor… (Guardian)

Mr AsI never claimed his press review gags were in the very best of taste.

If you don’t like it, look away now. Speaking of which…

Whilst the ‘i’ newspaper does: Giant Euro 2024 wall chart! and the blokey Daily Star does: Six UEFA Euro 2024 stickers our BBC naturally gets in a right huffery-buffery (TM Bob Mortimer) tissy over: Girl footballers told ‘get back in the kitchen’

This is pure one hundred percent campaign advocacy on the licence fee. David Lumb, BBC Midlands Today …comes as BBC analysis has found there are now twice as many registered female football teams in England as there were seven years ago.

Our David’s reporting is remarkably all very ‘social media’ based: Social media posts showing girls scoring goals or training also triggered abuse from trolls, they said… One TikTok post of her teammates scoring and inviting people to say who they would pick as a striker triggered a response saying they were rubbish… “When I was posting on social media, the comments would be like ‘women are rubbish they belong in the kitchen’ – the conclusion there would seem to be that the girlies want to promote their game but get the hump when the response they receive deviates from the hoped for virtue-signalling likes – and instead there’s some push back on line.

Of course there’s a self-interested pressure group involved promoting the familiar entire gamut of leftist ideological prior convictions, dodgy survey statistics backing their world view and a call to arms: the not-for-profit organisation Her Game Too found 91.9% had seen sexist abuse online aimed at women in football. Almost 60% said they had experienced it in a football ground or pub.

We all need something to cheer us up of a morning and one had to smile at this: Another player, aged 16, said: “If you tell a boy you play football they’ll give you a quiz. “They’ll say ‘what’s the offside rule?’ ‘who’s England’s top goal scorer?’ “They’ll offer you out one v one… if you do it they’ll go too rough on you to try and embarrass you.” (BBC) – ah, bless. One almost sympathises with the poor kid. Don’t go mano y mano with the boy footballers, luv. They’re bigger stronger and quicker than you. And you’ll find they’re more autistic about the pub quiz aspect of football stats. Dare one say – it’s a man’s game?

LSE chief pushes for outdoor screen in the City to showcase market successes (FT) – and how long will it be before they start to beam football matches onto that big screen outside the London Stock Exchange? Having worked at a hedge fund in a past incarnation one recalls how all those office screens carrying the rather depressing Bloomberg feed were very quickly switched over by the boys to live footage of the Beijing Olympics back in 2008. But that’s a whole ‘nother story, as they say.

To conclude one does like to highlight those little state of the nation snap shot items that pop up here and there. From the Times of London today: My phone was stolen At least I was not stabbed
