MM, is that chart accurate? According to a Guardian article way back in Y2K, Australasia (incl. NZ and all the islands in that Continent) had the highest emissions, higher even than the USA.

It is because everything has to travel to and from Oz, NZ and the islands by air or by boat; the latter being said to be the most polluting of all emissions. Don’t let Miliband minor wreck the UK!

GE Watch #1 – well some observations really

Went to the PO to pay my ‘Leftist Tax’ (ie. Council Tax) and had to pass the local Polling Station. Passed lots of elderly people en route to the Polling Station. Now it is said that if you are older (and wiser) you tend to vote for the Conservatives because you remember all the messes that Labour Governments leave behind. Could it be that Rosie Duffield will lose to the Conservative candidate?

Am still undecided and have prayed for Divine guidance!

What is the subject of your complaint? No mention of Rishi “UK exporter of energy” News

    Hello,

This is big news, we will soon have cheaper bills and even export energy to other countries but none of your BBC news picked this up. “UK to become a net exporter of electricity.” (c) Rishi Sunak 11.06.2024 https://youtu.be/3CNThBxJjm4?t=2368#Conservative Party launch manifesto

It does beg the question why isn’t the UK doing this already or why aren’t we after 14 years of Tory power we in a position to sell energy or why haven’t Labour go the same policy?

Plus how is this going to be achieved? This is big news missed by the BBC.

Rory is of course utterly wrong, the Tory party is centre left already. In any case what is far right about stopping illegal immigration, or trying to get the population working rather than living on benefits?
I haven’t discerned any right of centre Tory action in many years. Good examples are the Covid lockdowns, carbon control, net zero, failure to control immigration, attacks on Landlords etc etc.

        https://www.businessgreen.com/news-analysis/4331536/polls-open-labour-seek-mandate-ambitious-green-plans?

While I could give a flying green monkey’s patootie about the whole circus, the actual results tomorrow will be interesting.

Because deploying the word ‘mandate’ when there isn’t one is a very popular technique amongst the idiot political and media classes.

I actually sat on a bench outside the polling centre for a long while this morning pondering my course of action.

Yesterday evening I was sitting on another bench in the shires with the hounds, when over half a dozen Labour placard bearing folk approached along the towpath.

One was the aspiring MP, which is odd as our town is not overly significant in the constituency. Last ditch effort indeed. I was the only one in the park.

Unfortunately one of his activists is a close neighbour, denoted by having the only banner of any party anywhere. We get on well, so greetings were exchanged. But they did not move on.

Must say it was odd sitting whilst a semi circle of elder folk fired questions at me for 15 minutes. It was actually valuable on some issues in my mind, and other than the number imbalance relatively good natured.

I think the duration was down to me not telling them what they wanted to hear (hold that thought as polls and results get compared). Like a rag of colour to a BLM honey badger. I could have advised a few things, from being onside (lie) to another party, but chose to mention that after the hustings #NOTA was back in the frame.

Oo boy. This made me a possible convert. Apparently. And they gave it their all. Failed utterly.

But did help me ponder all the system faults that have got us to this point. How did they think a single issue working bloke was going to represent me, here, any better, and especially when not going near stuff like immigration, pension raids or climate idiocy. The poor sap in question will do as he’s told by whips. And they will do what Starmer’s handlers tell him that day.

They also invoked him as one of the sainted professions. How will he manage both his current one and hitting the HoP bars? I still recall Dr. Rosena Khan, when a junior doctor screaming about hours whilst also supposedly an MP and TV studio fixture. And claiming later once installed with Rayner that Wandsworth’s council taxes would go down once Labour got in. They did, but did they?

I have come to view all aspiring MPs as chancers, prepared to say anything to get in, and once in care less about what got them there so long as they bank the nifty wonga, get on telly and ponce about a bit.

BBC France invoking their go-to spectre of extremism and 1930s Germany: “In Marseille, pétanque masks political divides ahead of Sunday’s vote”.

They quote a Le Monde correspondent who says that “racism lay at the root of much of the anti-immigrant sentiment in parts of the city, and that RN was playing on people’s legitimate concerns about crime. The basis of this vote [for RN] is clearly racism. [Their supporters say] there are too many immigrants and too many Arabic people.”

Marseille has had huge problems for years with drug gangs, murders and also has a 30-40% muslim population. BBC and Le Monde still clueless even as much of France turns to the right.

A chum here put up a post about this a day or so ago!

It was in a form of a cut-and-paste from an article which stated that in a school locally, (not sure where), there was a fake ‘election debate’, where just the facts were mentioned, and no particular party was displayed!

Reform came way out in front, simply because their policies are British Common Sense!

I tried to find the piece, but after several hours, weeks even, my mouse finger got cramp, clicked the wrong button, and I finished up buying a lawn mower from Dorthy Perkins…

Here’s another good example of how the BBC push their bias:

Violent attacks shock France ahead of crunch vote
    https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c4ngxeyxd9go

The first third of this story is devoted to describing an attack on the current government member Prisca Thevenot where the BBC tell us about the images filmed from a block of flats.

Seems clear : far-right thugs assaulting somebody. But if you read it more closely, it does not say that at all. It just infers it.

For example, we are told she was attacked but instead of then describing the attack, the BBC insert the paragraph:

‘Other election campaigners have come under attack across France, reflecting the febrile mood in politics with the far-right National Rally (RN) the front-runner in the election.’

Then is gives the details of her attack with the very suspicious paragraph:
‘The motive for the attack on Ms Thevenot and her colleagues is not clear, but she returned to Meudon on Thursday with Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, who condemned “attacks of intolerable cowardice”.’
The ‘but’ there makes no sense. It implies the motive for the attack was linked to her returning. Is this just a low-grade reporter or is it deliberate weasel words for something ?.

So they put the fact she was attacked in your mind. Then for no reason at all they switch to mention ‘far-right National Rally’. Then they switch back to the attack and give all the details. It’s very clearly intended for you to associate the two.

Oh those nasty far-right (probably) we tell ourselves.

    And tucked away further down:
‘RN candidates have also come under attack. Marie Dauchy described being “violently assaulted” as she campaigned at a market in La Rochette near Grenoble in the south-east.
A conservative candidate allied with RN, Nicolas Conquer, complained that he and a female colleague had been pelted with eggs. And last month another RN candidate was treated in hospital after he was set upon while handing out pamphlets.’

That’s THREE by the ‘far-Left’ then BBC. Why not use that term just before telling us ?. And why don’t you drag out the details for those ?.

I’m always intrigued when BBC reports just don’t read properly as it’s always the case that they are deliberately wording it to give the overall impression they want. So I looked for this video of the ‘violent assault’ as it was conspicious by it’s absence. Here’s all there is:

Why is it so heavily edited and totally blurred out ?.

A video edited like that for no reason is ALWAYS suspicious. Just as the BBC always edit videos of Biden to just show the bits where he isn’t slurring or staring at nothing with his mouth open.

I suspect this article is trying to infer all the violence is from the Far-Right so when we see the Far-Left thugs rioting after RN win, a lot of people will think it’s them.

It’s very rare I see anything on BBC news now which reads as a straightforward account of something. They ALWAYS read a bit strange. And if you can be bothered to read it closely to find out why. It’s always to tweak your impression towards their agenda. Muslims good. Black people good. White people bad. Things like that.

So far Reform seems to be doing reasonably well, but most of the results are in from Tyne and Wear which always used to vote quite well for Ukip. Nowhere near taking a seat though.
    I’m optimistic but not confident.
