StewGreen, I wonder what happened to the new Border Command, Labour announced after getting into power. Gone really quiet and if it ever will get formed.

Why have border farce, to have a new border command working under the same rules as each other

The reporting on the BBC website carries a section by Simon Jones with the sentence: “People desperately trying to get from northern France over to the UK, on boats which are overloaded and badly constructed.”

Why are they ‘desperately’ trying to get from northern France? Is there a war going on there? Has there been some terrible natural disaster? If they are genuine refugees or asylum seekers, why are they not travelling on regular ferries or flying to UK airports and claiming asylum in accordance with internationally accepted norms? If there is a tragedy just off the coast in French territorial waters, why is it necessarily anything to do with Great Britain at all?

Comment order-order.com “In other news I very recently saw an RNLI fundraising advert which I found quite strange because amonsgt the various images they chose to highlight their worthy cause, there was not a sign of any of the almost entirely young male boat people they’re clearly investing a lot of time and energy in ‘rescuing’ from the Channel. I’m wondering why this would be the case. Don’t they believe this aspect of their good work deserves mention or do they think highlighting it will put prospective donors off? I’m pretty sure it’s the latter.”

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has today set out the first steps to establishing a new UK Border Security Command (BSC).
    Published 7 July 2024

    https://www.gov.uk/government/news/home-secretary-launches-new-border-security-command

    Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper, said:

Criminal smuggling gangs are making millions out of small boat crossings, undermining our border security and putting lives at risk. We can’t carry on like this. We need to tackle the root of the problem, going after these dangerous criminals and bringing them to justice.

The Border Security Command will be a major step change in UK enforcement efforts to tackle organised immigration crime, drawing on substantial resource to work across Europe and beyond to disrupt trafficking networks and to coordinate with prosecutors in Europe to deliver justice.

Work is underway to bring in a Border Security Commander to lead this work – and we will begin recruitment on additional capacity in the National Crime Agency immediately.

Keith Vaz faces parliamentary ban over drugs for sex workers scandal
This article is more than 4 years old
Committee finds Labour MP caused significant damage to reputation of Commons

The inquiry examined claims published in the Sunday Mirror in 2016 that he offered to buy cocaine for male sex workers while posing as an industrial washing machine salesman.

Vaz’s explanation, which included that he had amnesia and could not recall key events, was “not believable and, indeed, ludicrous”, the inquiry found.

The Mercedes V-Class Marco Polo was my first campervan and it is very stylish: the cottagecore aesthetic of the classic VW campervan, in which I once had a terrible trip to Glastonbury because they don’t work, has been swept away. Again, the campervan contains two contradictory possibilities: familiarity and surprise. My Merc was all sombre greys and smooth leathers.

I was watching a bit of the BBC news last night. That was my first mistake. They were reporting on the AfD’s electoral success. They chose to do this from an actual concentration camp, in front of some crematorium ovens. Not much sign of bias there, just that the AfD are actual Nazis. Fair enough in the BBC hive mind I suppose.

    • pugnazious says:

RiC…same old trick the BBC used to try and trash a right-wing youth movement in Austria…linking them to concentration camps and ethnic cleansing when they had no links or policies that in any way associated them with the Nazis.

‘Is the “alt right” on the rise in Europe? And if so, is it a fringe movement – or something bigger than that? BBC Newsnight’s Gabriel Gatehouse reports from Austria and France.

Gatehouse didn’t actually listen to what was being told to him. He had a narrative and he stuck to it….what we got was a constant drumbeat warning us of the rise of a new Nazi regime….Gatehouse freely used words like ethnic cleansing, Nazis and references to concentration camps…You actually struggle to see what the spectre of the 30’s is here…just what are the policies and ideas that Gatehouse says are ‘Far-Right’ or ‘ethnic cleansing’ or have ‘the whiff of the concentration camp’ about them or have ‘scary connotations’? They all seem fairly mainstream and indeed already put into practise by many governments. Gatehouse comes with preconceived ideas about these people and completely ignores what they actually say preferring to overlay everything with his own narrative, colouring what they say in the darkest tones when such an interpretation, at least from what they said on film, is far from the mark.’

      The BBC reports…

‘The AfD has been classified as right-wing extremist by domestic intelligence in Thuringia as well as Saxony. ‘

…failing to mention that the head of the intelligence agency is a CDU member…ie the government party that wants to silence the AFD.

And what will the BBC make of the left-wing BSW?….given that…

‘Although BSW is at the other end of the political spectrum, the two parties share a Eurosceptic, anti-immigration, populist stance. Both also advocate cutting off military aid to Ukraine.’

Oddly the AFD is Far-Right and basically Nazi because it wants to control immigration and stop funding Ukraine…hmmm…same as the BSW…and erm…the same as the CDU which has recently said it will treat illegal migrants severely and has just packed a load off back to Afghanistan….is the CDU Far-Right and Nazi?

The BBC barely mentions the lefty/Far-Right BSW in its election report though they polled third after having only been created in January this year…as reported in this very friendly BBC report…

‘Sahra Wagenknecht: German politician launches ‘left-wing conservative’ party’

      https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-67914273

Curious how the lefty ‘Fascists’ get a free ride but the Righty ‘Fascists’ are the continual target of the BBC…and all the rest such as Times Radio whose immigrant Muslim presenter told us the AFD ‘sent chills’ through her and did they not remember the Nazis? Maybe she should look at a few Muslim countries for reminders of what Nazism looks like in the flesh.

Dear far-left bBC thugs and kiddie fiddlers,

You reported on AfD success with images of concentration camps and ovens.

Why did you not also report on the success of the BSW far-left extremist thugs with images of the gulags and Polish officers being shot in the back of the head as they were at Katyn?

We all know why, you are two tier.

ITV local news a long opening item about one Iraqis tyre repair garage that was attacked in the “riots”
Video shows the street yobs running into the yard jumping on top of the cars, while the garage owner and customers rushed to shelter behind metal shutters .
They say the yobs set cars on fire casing £20,000 damage
The owner Moo is an Iraqi Kurd, been here for 22 years.

I suspect there is something else here and those yobs who normally smash up bus shelters had some special motivation for attacking his biz whilst leaving nearby ones alone.
Maybe a pre-existing grudge or perception that he’d waved a stick at them etc.
Like why has media taken a month to report on it ?

THat was the ITV news exclusive
Now BBC local newsPR is opening with its own exclusive : interview with the Romanian driver whose cars was attacked
There is something strange cos the video shows the car is almost in front on the garage ITV just mentioned
And at a moment before the road end was blocked by a line of burning tyres.
Yes the two events are at the same location at almost the same time, but each channel only reports 1 story

I suspect the rioters didn’t randomly attack the the Romanian car maybe they thought it was driving aggressively or at them

The BBC video flips to scenes outside the city centre migrant hotel
The dialogue says it is nearby. I can see both locations on Google maps , they are actually 0.5 miles apart. The station and rail line is between them.
The garage on Hall st is 60 yards away from the big Fire Station
so I doubt fires were ever going to be much
I suspect the entire group were hooligans from rough Hull housing estates

At BBC since 2010 at least. I wonder if her name is real or if her real name is Yaxley

Her article says the Romanian has been in the country for 7 years
but ends “Translation support by Consuela Tanase”

Again I ask why the BBC article focuses on the Romanian “victim”
and the ITV one entirely on the Iraqi victim even though the photo shows they are in the SAME location .. Hall St
