Radio 4 13.45 final programme about tax called Untaxing .

This ends as you`d expect from the BBC , that any money not going to the government is costing “us” billions .

    As though any Labour government or blue Labour government could ever say to “us” ;

Pay all your taxes and we`ll spend it wisely on defence , winter fuel for pensioners , schools and hospitals , law and order , infrastructure , immigration controls etc .

It`s bad enough about about government waste and corruption , these things alone are reason enough to hold back on sending shekels to the Treasury but there`s something worse that the UK excels at :

Using your taxes to impoverish you , help criminality and even maim and kill you , your family and the rest of the nation .

The impoverishment comes from the Powers That Be love of international organisations or treaties that either demand money to help foreign countries , industries or businesses to set up , manage and kill off companies here by their lower overheads ( like not having Net Zero policies ) or other skulduggery eg other countries don`t abide by the agreements or circumnavigate the rules .
Then allowing Foreigners to use criminal practises to syphon money off the Exchequer to send abroad , like Romanian gangs abusing the Student Loans scheme , or Kebab shops getting visas for so called skilled workers .

But the worst is the encouragement of illegal immigration , by hardly ever deporting an illegal so they then know they`re here for life , giving board and lodging in luxury hotels , other benefits , never vetting who they are , allowing them to not even fear deportation for further acts of criminality .
And some of them wish to kill and maim us .
Then the Border Force , funded by your taxes , goes out to collect them .
Even worse are our taxes going to fund the salaries and pensions of the senior civil servants who enjoy inflicting these iniquities upon us .
Taxes . There`s no moral imperilment to pay them .

‘A Reform UK candidate has been suspended from the party after posts on social media revealed his support for serial sex abuser Jimmy Savile.’

Of course he didn’t support his sexual abuse, he praised him as a ‘working class hero’.

In fact it was the BBC themselves who supported his peaodophilia by knowing full well what he was doing and allowing him to do it. But by some miracle of omission, they don’t mention that. They talk about it as if it had nothing to do with them.

What a truly pathetic article : clearly the BBC are desperate to say Trump is wrong to come down so hard on these gang members. The levels they are prepared to stoop for their own political agenda are beyond belief.

Just look at how they describe the gang members:
‘He adds that many of the people he met were not happy. “They don’t enjoy doing what they’re doing, they’re scared, they’re worried, they’re in pain,” he says.’

So these drug dealers and murderers are really decent people inside are they BBC ?. How many is ‘many of the people’ ?.

One thing is for sure : Ashley is not behind this series. The BBC have set his agenda and will certainly have written the script for him. It’s blatant political activism of the highest order – simply to contradict Trump in the eyes of the public.

Of course there is no balance to the article whatsoever. Perhaps a few examples of what these ‘many people’ have done to other people might give this empathy-laden crap some perspective.

The BBC’s ‘Ashley’ by the way – for people me who have never heard of him – is actually another reality TV ‘star’ and complete attention-seeking narcissist. Why is why he fits in so well at the BBC.

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-58612961

Just checking the BBC’s coverage of SpaceX recently as I don’t see them much on the news pages any more since they contracted MDS and this sentence caught my eye:

‘He had paid an undisclosed sum – estimated by Time magazine to be about $200 million (£145 million) – to fellow billionaire Elon Musk for all four seats aboard the Crew Dragon.’

He DIDN’T pay it to Elon Musk BBC. He paid it to SpaceX. There is a very big difference – they have worded it to sound like Musk just took the money and put it in his bank account.

Their stories are littered with small ‘negative prods’ like this these days. They are full-on activists funded by law from the UK public. It’s just unacceptable.

Daily Mail on line, it is because of Trump”s tariffs that it is necessary to reduce the ‘fines’ for car manufacturers who don’t meet their EV sales targets but the date for 100% remains at 2030. Classic FM this morning, it is because of Trump’s tariffs that Angie’s target of 1.5 million homes by the end of this Parliament will be harder to achieve although Angie assured listeners that the target will be met. I am wondering how many of those houses have already been built and to what standard?

It is obvious already that everything that goes wrong for this government is going to be blamed by the MSM on ‘Trump’s tariffs’.

Supermarkets selling Russian fish ‘funding Putin’s war’ – frets the poundshop junior Guardian that is the i paper

Russian fish…? I’d like to fact-check that headline for you – but it sounds like a Red Herring.

Several UK supermarkets, including Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Co-op, insist they have eliminated all direct purchases of Russian-origin – this story is in fact the i paper coming back for seconds on a story from a fortnight ago: How your fish and chips could be ‘funding Putin’s war’… Thousands of tonnes of Russian fish are entering the UK food chain via a “loophole” in rules intended to curtail the Kremlin’s ability to… (i paper, 21 March)

Loophole? Surely they should say Russian fish are slipping through the net?

That’s yer fish n chips, folks. Meanwhile, higher up the culinary class scale (in case your were wondering): Why the EU’s ban on Russian caviar is all hype and no bite… Brussels is fishing for compliments with its caviar ban since Russian exports to the EU are pretty insignificant… Brussels boasted that it’s hitting a crucial Russian industry by banning the country’s caviar imports — but the actual impact is likely to be just a drop in the ocean. (Politico)

What journo can resist either a fishy or a nautical pun?

    Tartar sauce

As though we all had the memory of a goldfish… Hot on the heels (dated two days later) of that last report came: UK bans imports of Russian caviar, silver, and other high-end products… The latest measures will also see tariffs increase by 35 percentage points on around £130 million worth of Russian and Belarusian products (Politico)

Ahhhh… did we just utter the dread word… TARIFFS ?

China joins trade war with tariffs for Trump… FTSE 100 suffers worst day since Covid pandemic – regrets the regime-central mouthpiece (no bottom feeder this title) the Times

Worst day since… and it had to happen on: UK sees its hottest day of the year so far (BBC)

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.” (Charles Dickens – a great story teller but never known to use just a phrase where a paragraph will do.)

But wait, Mr AsI, I hear you say… are you going to let the Times get away without one of your trademark little editorial corrections?

China joins trade war with tariffs for Trump… FTSE 100 suffers worst day since Covid pandemic LOCKDOWN – which was likewise a policy choice seriously jeopardising our economic wellbeing – but that was, in contrast with the Trump tariffs, unquestioningly universally supported and applauded by our mainstream media (Mr AsI)

All the Globalist free traders are decrying Trump’s tariffs and claiming that he is an economic dunce if he opposes free trade.
Oddly though almost every country in the world has higher tariffs on US imports than the US does on imports from those countries.
So exactly who is it that believes in free trade?
Anyway provided that Trump holds his nerve for a few weeks the ROW will calm down and seek reciprocal trade deals with the US and Trump will have pulled off a daring master stroke in levelling the playing field for US workers.
Once that happens then the EU and UK will no longer be able to hide their uncompetitiveness behind tariff barriers and stuff like Net Zero will have to be abandoned. Hopefully Trump will also follow through on Free Speech being an essential precondition of getting a trade deal with the US.
Stick it to the Globalists Donald , we love yu , as JDV would say.

THIS is what bbc or any self respecting jpournalist should be looking at, I don’t recall seeing this much:

“What UK tariffs are charged on US imports?

Broadly speaking, imports face general tariffs, while special levies are applied to certain goods like machinery and transport equipment, chemicals, and materials.

HMRC will also collect customs duties when goods enter the UK.

For example, under the classification of meat of bovine animals, fresh or chilled, a so-called ‘third-country’ like the US imports face a 12 per cent plus £147 levy for every 100kg of beef sold to the UK. An average cow would yield about 225 kilograms of beef, so that would add 12 per cent to the price plus £330.75.

Denim jeans – an iconic US export – face an 8 per cent import tariff as well as 20 per cent VAT.

The UK also imposes a 10 per cent levy on importing most types of cars – well short of Trump’s 25 per cent tariffs.

    Who pays tariffs?

These tariffs imposed by the UK are passed on to British consumers, as they are paid by the company importing the goods.

VAT – which has also attracted the ire of the White House – is not a tariff.

It is charged where the ultimate consumer is in the UK, regardless of where the seller might be.

It is a sales tax that applies once in the final sale to the consumer.”

Z, as I’m sure you know, the US has a gigantic trade deficit with the ROW . If we look at cars as an example very few US made cars are sold abroad but in the US market a hell of a lot of foreign made cars are sold.
In Europe the EU imposed a large tariff on US cars but the US , pre Trump’s announcement , imposed a much lower tariff on EU cars. So all Trump has done has made the playing field more equal by increasing the cost of EU cars in America, expecting that the US consumer will buy more US cars and create more US jobs.
I’m sure that if the EU suggested that they would match whatever tariff the US set , Trump would be very happy to reduce it to zero.

From a US worker point of view it seems a very good idea to me.For a German car worker it’s bad news but they have been free loading off the US for decades and in effect stealing US jobs by using high tariffs.

South Korea’s president is out – but he leaves behind a polarised country
    https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cgkje35gd3eo

I’m not at all interested in this story. I don’t care what happens in South Korea. I don’t know much about it and don;t really want to.

But what did grab my attention was this:
‘Many of them echo narratives peddled by influential right-wing YouTubers who support Yoon’
‘”Stop the Steal” signs have become a fixture at pro-Yoon rallies – co-opted from supporters of US President Donald Trump, whose own political career has been helped by a network of conservative YouTubers.’

So there’s another Right-Wing politician who has been ‘eliminated’ by legal proceedings ?.

    Elsewhere I see:
‘Han became acting president after Yoon, a conservative, was impeached by the liberal opposition-controlled National Assembly’

How many is that now ?. I notice the BBC rarely mention the political bias of cases like this – they just describe them as basic facts only as if it is all right and proper. But any hint of right-wing bias is pointed out immediately.

Their reporting is now a complete farce and worthless if you want to know the actual truth. They might tell you it, they might not. Depends if it suits them.

Notice the use of apostrophes when a man claims the same as a poor victimised female in the misandrist Daily Mail online :

    1) “Truth about this photograph of Virginia Roberts: Toxic split with husband and violence restraining order revealed.

The clearest evidence of her vicious ongoing divorce battle can be found among the daily listings at Joondalup Magistrates’ Court in Perth where, just ten days before last week’s minor traffic accident on a rural road outside the city, Virginia was charged with breaching a ‘family violence restraining order’ made in response to a claim lodged by her estranged husband.

Such orders, according to Australian law, are made to protect family members, including children, at risk of physical, financial, emotional, psychological and sex abuse. But they are also regarded as highly controversial because of the way in which they can be used by warring spouses who wish to weaponise the court system in their favour.”

    2) “Russell Brand says he WILL return to the UK to contest rape and sex assault charges and is ‘incredibly grateful’ for the opportunity.

Taking to social media on Friday, Brand denied all the charges against him and said he was looking forward to clearing his name, adding the law was being used as a ‘weapon’ against him.”

    @ Scroblene,

Do we have an update on the sim card extraction issue ?

If you are still experiencing problems I can outline a further technical guide, if you have a mallet and chisel on hand.

But, bitter experience has taught me, you should also ensure you have a tournique and the address of the nearest A and E.

And a note of your blood group.

Apart from that it’s a doddle.

Although for really tricky, delicate or finicky jobs, I do have some crow bars, bolsters and wrecking bars in the shed.

Thinking of putting up some Youtube step by step guides as they seem very popular:

Mattererfac, I have Zeps, thank you!

I went and bought the gross of paperclips you suggested, and the various sizes ranged from an Abbotacus Left Shoe, to a Thieves Stapler from Rach’s cupboard, (where she keeps her ‘bits’!

I managed to get the little bugger out, then tried removing the SIM card, but it’s one of those tiny ones, the size of a foreign secretary’s intellect, and I can’t make it fit in the slot – as there’s no way of knowing how far you shove it in, or where you have to stop, or do you pull it out occasionally and start again…

It could be a micro one, and plenty of times has that insult been levelled at me, or it might just be that I’m using the wrong tool, in which case I’ll pop up to Screwfix and ask them if they have one I can buy! The Jethro joke about having a coc…….chimney isn’t appropriate here, as Brissles or Debs, or Lucy might be watching, and I’m an Officer and a Gentleman when it comes to delicate issues such as this!

Mind you, I did get as ****** as a fart the other night at the pub quiz, and am wondering if the iPhone pictures are going to appear on YouTube sometime soon!

So the answer to your question is, yes, I managed to withdraw it, then tried to get it in the other one, couldn’t, so replaced it in the original one for safe keeping! The only reason I want to use the small phone, is that I can take it with me on dog walks when the others are all fabulous local ladies, and I need something in my trouser pocket as evidence…

INFLATION Watch #1 – a product that I have purchased from that shop in the past

Just doing a recce last week, actually looking for a cheaper item in this pricey store. (Some wishful thinking, there.) I noticed the price for a product that I have bought from that shop in the past had increased in price to £1.50 from £1.10. That is a 36% increase.

In another store today I noticed a product had gone from £1.09 to £1.25 a 14% increase.

I’m afraid Rachel from Accounts will be having to deal, not just with Trump tarriffs, but with a lot of inflation – most of it of her own making.
