MARK EASTON – CRIME WARRIOR

Continuing my occasional series on Mark Easton, I happened to catch him being interviewed on Eddie Mair’s PM programme on the topic of knife crime. In essence, Easton was taking the line that new statistics are far from compelling and that “knife crime” itself could include attacks with a broken bottle by drunk young men, bottom line being that it will take generations for any real trend to become discernible. On his blog, he is much more scathing of the stats than he was on-air but again he parrots the notion that change is long-term, indeed transgenerational. In fact, if you read his last sentence on his blog, he endorses this view that our police cannot hope to deal with knife crime in months or years but rather decades. That’s where the line is crossed. There are plenty of us who believe that knife crime COULD be dealt with much more vigorously if there was the will but Easton holds the contrary view. Why is there no one to voice an alternative to him?

MARK EASTON – CLASS WARRIOR!

Anyone catch Mark Easton’s breathless endorsement of the latest piece of NuLabour class warfare proposed by Alan Milburn? Mark’s just so excited by this instance of social engineering! Milburn was then afforded the prime time slot on Today here. It’s lovely to see how the BBC synchs with Labour, isn’t it? Flawless. Listen BBC – Vote Labour. By way of balance, Melanie Phillips has this take on it, with which I fully agree.

PERFECT COMBINATIONS

I see that the BBC has been running a Lancet generated sob story about the alarmingly high African male gay AIDS rate. It seems that the cause of this disease is “cultural, religious and political unwillingness to accept gay men as equal members of society”. The solution is to spend more money on it, apparently. We have to wade through several paragraphs of nonsense to discover that “gay men were also more likely to be involved in other high-risk behaviours, including sex work, having multiple partners and being in contact with intravenous drug users” You don’t say?

THE MCBRIDE PRINCIPLES…

Am I alone in being far from surprised that Gordon Brown’s long term media attack dog, Damian McBride chose BBC “5 Live” to start the process of trying to restore his fortunes? I just knew that Victoria Derbyshire had to have some purpose in life and now we know what it is! It’s also interesting to observe how McBride is still trying to serve his master, the Dear Leader, by claiming he was “so angry” when McBride divulged the contents of his emails, that “he could not talk”.

Well, as far as I am concerned silencing McDoom for a few moments was an unexpected act of public service on the part of the loathsome McBride. But this is self-serving tripe. McBride is asking us to suspend all reason and accept that Brown was unaware of his particularly vicious style of media manipulation hence the alleged “anger”! But it was precisely that quality that appealed to Brown and which made McBride so invaluable to him during the long years in the Treasury bunker! This is more spinning and it is telling that the BBC was McBride’s preferred media outlet.

WE NEED MORE LEFTIST THINKING..

You couldn’t really make it up!

Ben Stephenson, the BBC’s drama commissioning controller states unequivocally:

“We need to foster peculiarity, idiosyncrasy, stubborn-mindedness, left-of-centre thinking”.

Why? That’s not the job of an unbiased broadcaster, is it? But it is the mission of a profoundly compromised leftist dominated State monopoly. My thanks to Mr Stephenson for confirming that which we all know to be true – the BBC is institutionally biased and likely to get worse. Axe it.

(Hat-tip to all who sent me this! I have been so busy this is my first chance to blog it here!!)

SWINE FLU AND BBC TROUGHERY

Wonder what you make of the news that the BBC has been “stockpiling” thousands of doses of the swine flu drug Tamiflu? About 4,000 doses of the Tamiflu drug have been bought by the corporation. I rather agree with Scottish Tory public health spokesman Jackson Carlaw who has said that : “It is nothing short of disgraceful that a licence payer funded body is storing away an antiviral which is free on the NHS.”

MORE MARR

Anyone catch Andrew Marr this morning and if so, is it contagious? More seriously, I heard him interview Conservative wee Georgie Osborne and then NuLabour leader in waiting Alan Johnson aka Postman Pat. I felt there was a visceral difference in the tone and attitude adopted by Marr during these interviews. With Osborne it was aggressive and challenging, but with Johnson it was conciliatory and agreeing. It’s as if the Conservatives are in government and Labour are in opposition given the way Marr went after Osborne. However, in a year’s time, that will be the case and THEN the BBC attacks will really kick is. Anyone who thinks that BBC will give Cameron and his pals an easy ride once they hold the license-fee purse strings need to think again. We will have a sustained attack on every move made by the new government and Marr and his ilk are only warming up.

KEEP IT IN THE FAMILY…

I bet you feel all warm and content at the news how the BBC spends some of the many millions it takes from you…

The BBC has paid £1.2 million in fees in the last year to companies owned by close
relatives of senior executives in new allegations of cronyism.

The lion’s share was taken by Samir Shah, a non executive director of the
corporation, whose production company Juniper Communications was paid £715,000 last year.

Mr Shah, who owns 70 per cent of Juniper, is paid £35,000 as a member
of the BBC executive board which oversees the corporation’s management and
directs its editorial output. The payments to Juniper will also further
enrich the family of Jana Bennett, the BBC head of Vision, who is tipped to be
the first woman director general of the corporation. Miss Bennett’s husband
Richard Clemmow owns 10 per cent of Juniper. Last year Miss Bennett was paid
£535,000 by the BBC.

Isn’it it NICE to see how wisely your money is spent? All part of that very special relationship the BBC has with us.
