As has been brought to my attention, the BBC hate reporting any good news for the Coalition! The headline here is that Government cuts have proven to be more effective than planned, resulting in even lower spending. However the BBC’s desire to spin this as a negative has resulted in them posting an opinion piece in place an objective report. Everything from the seventh paragraph from the bottom is just political … Continue reading
As has been pointed out to me, €16bn in Aid for Afghanistan is reported here by the BBC in jubilant tones whilst the Taliban denial of the brutal execution of a Muslim woman is parroted. Just in case you got the idea the Taliban are murderous savages.
‘Today’ (0850) finished with a bit of barefaced cheek, or complete idiocy, having decided to discuss Osborne’s sparring with Balls in the Commons. The complaint was that surely the politicians should all be getting together to work out how to deal with the recession rather than engaging in a political bunfight, point scoring off each other. Well perhaps…but then how does ‘Today’, Britain’s premier political bunfight programme in its own right, … Continue reading
The BBC, acting in its capacity of being the UK extension of Barack Obama’s “Palace Guard” (aka the US mainstream media) led on the website with an item headed Romney and Republicans raise $100m in June Under the headline the text confirmed that Mitt Romney, the likely Republican candidate in this coming November’s Presidential election, had raised more money than Obama. At first glance one could have sensed from this … Continue reading
‘One lesson well understood in both Stalin’s Russia and Nazi Germany was that propaganda is most effective when it is backed by terror.’ In Britain today there are over two million National Socialists living mainly in large enclaves separate from the rest of British society. Their lives are guided by the tenets taken from a book that orders them not to make friends with anyone who is not a National … Continue reading
‘Today’ asks is Russia becoming more autocratic?: ‘Russia’s lower house of parliament will be debating a draft law later today which, if it is adopted, means that any non-governmental organisation in Russia receiving funding from abroad and considered to be engaged in political activity, will be labelled a “foreign agent”. Vyacheslav Nikonov, an MP from the leading party and one of the authors of the bill believes Russian democracy “needs … Continue reading
Friday arrives and so does an Open Thread to see us off into the blue yonder of a biased weekend from the BBC. Report what you find here!
Amazing amount of favourable publicity afforded to the Sutton Trust’s latest report on the Today programme this morning. Also used as an opportunity to mock Michael Gove. Yet isn’t the Sutton Trust a reliably left wing organisation? Why DOES the BBC get so excited about it’s press releases? Is it because any opportunity to somehow “do down” Gove is grabbed with relish? If our children really ARE lagging so far … Continue reading
Question Time tonight comes from Derby. On the panel we have Conservative MP Louise Mensch, Energy and “climate change” Secretary Ed Davey MP, former postman and occasional home secretary Alan Johnson MP, Sunday Times and Independent columnist Dominic Lawson, and John Lydon, former lead singer of the Sex Pistols and founder of the band Public Image Ltd. This Week will follow, and we have the standard lineup of Andrew Neil … Continue reading
