The Taliban are pleased to announce…

Reading this article about changes in the Taliban leadership I was struck by the way the language tends to validate them as an organisation. We are told:

Pakistan’s Taliban movement has named a new leader, its deputy head Maulvi Faqir Mohammed has told the BBC. He said Hakimullah Mehsud, a close associate of ex-leader Baitullah Mehsud, had been unanimously appointed at a meeting in northern Pakistan.

So, the “deputy-head” announces that “a close associate” of the “ex-leader” has been “unanimously” “appointed”. It sounds like a union movement, rather than a bunch of bearded desperate goons with ieds and the education levels of ten year olds except no doubt for their memorisation of the Koran.

Richard North of excellent EU Referendum has been railing at the BBC for a different reason- suggesting that they whitewashed corruption in the Afghan elections. Rather than just spotty as the BBC claim, he believes them to be worthless. Whatevever works for you when it comes to cynicism, but surely this illustrates how things are with the BBC- they do the British Government a small favour with a few apparently white lies in the name of furthering democracy, and then tell massive whoppers by covering for the enemies of the West. In hock to the politicians on the one hand, and to their own ideology on the other- where does that leave the paying British public? According to the BBC, claims that the Taliban has been at war with itself following the loss of their leader were just “rumours”, while the unanimous election of the new Taliban leader… totally Halal mate, straight down the line, fair dinkum and jolly hockey sticks, hurrah.

SO, WHAT DOES RAMADAN MEAN TO YOU?

It’s sweet to see that the BBC takes such an interest in Ramadan. Here you can read what Arafana from Wrexham makes of it all. It sounds so exciting! Wonder what she makes of the fact that Islam puts women on the same level of animals? Wonder what her view is on “honour killing”? The BBC doesn’t really go there…still, it’s the thought that counts. Happy Ramadan.

SHE’S A LADY?

Did you catch this interview concerning South Africa’s “golden girl” Caster Semenya, she would won the Gold medal whilst looking more masculine than Usain Bolt? It seems that she, and that proud ANC government she represents are “humiliated” by the suggestion that “she” may in fact be a “he”. The BBC managed to find plenty of family and supporters who insisted that “she was really a she”. From the BBC perspective it is all about how well athletics has supported this rising star. From my point of view, if gender tests have to be made, there is a problem! and one that South African athletics will run a mile from…in record time. I wonder why the BBC has such a problem criticising the South African authorities?

MR BEAN IS DlSTRESSED…

God, has there been anything more nauseating than listening to Mr Bean look-a-like Foreign Secretary David Miliband on the BBC telling us how “deeply distressed” he was at the heroes welcome afforded to convicted mass murderer Abdel Basset Ali al-Megrahi in Tripoli. Gosh – who would have imagined that the Libyans would celebrate the return of a killer – especially after Obama had warned them not to do so???

I thought Humphyrs was pretty robust with this little dweeb but still think he wasl permitted to waffle about constitutional niceties that had damn all to do with what has really just happened. The bottom line is that, once again, a Labour government has presided over the release of convicted murderers from prison. The Pontius Pilate style approach adopted by Mr Bean was really sickening and I think that John Humphyrs did make some good points. It is proper to acknowledge when the BBC conducts interviews in a straightforward manner and this was one such. Mind you, I was not so impressed with the interview with Megrahi’s solicitor and Mr Toad Alex Salmond that took place earlier. I think Salmond was allowed more wriggle room than Miliband but in the final analysis ALL involved in this craven act of appeasement stand condemned.

TITANTIC SINKING, BUT NOT SO FAST!

I just love the way the BBC tries to ameliorate the wanton destruction that has been caused to the UK economy by the feckless Brown. Here’s a nice example of what the BBC does best..

The number of new cars made in the UK fell 17.9% in July from the same month a year earlier, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) said. But the drop, to 107,635 cars, was the smallest of the year so far

Rejoice – so despite the scrappage scheme and despite the poor year on year comparison figure, we’re still going down. But fear not, Captain Brown knows what he is doing and when tractor production is restored to previous levels, those that doubt his genius will be exposed for the running dogs of capitalism that the BBC know them to be!

OPEN THREAD

Here we go another open thread. I see the Lockerbie mass murderer has been set free, thank goodness we have so many compassionate politicians, eh? Anyway, the floor is yours..

LIES, DAMNED LIES AND BBC STATISTICS

This is a great catch by Pounce that I think deserves much greater prominence.

“The BBC, it’s insipid hatred of Israel, arms exporters and just a little extra added to the story.
So has anybody seen that bBC revised coverage of that parliamentary report on weapons sales to Israel and Sri-lanka while omitting the real gist of the report on HMG not knowing that brits were buying weapons from the Ukraine and selling them to …Sri Lanka.Have a look at that chart of arms sales they have posted up . Why guess who it has in 4th place. Why its Israel. How dare the the jews sell more weapons than the UK.. and then the BBC quotes they gleaned that info from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute. The thing is I read and use their website all the time and knew something wasn’t right. So I had a look. Well guess what Israel isn’t the 4th largest seller of weapons in the world rather it comes in 11th place after China. A country which the bBC says doesn’t inform the world what its sold. Don’t believe me here is the Link for the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute web site on the top 50 arms exporters or importers. Just click the button you wish Web or ExcelAnd if you can’t be asked here is a screen dump of what I downloaded onto Excel. The bBC it’s insipid hatred of Israel, arms exporters and just a little extra added to the story

WHAT DEBT PROBLEM?

Some excellent observations over on our most recent Open Thread concerning how the BBC have treated David Cameron’s suggestion that there is a looming debt repayment on the horizon. Cassandra says..

“Well the toadies invited a couple of well chosen economists whose line was superficially aligned to the newlabour one (funny that eh?) that in fact there is no problem and the markets are confident of the UKs abillity to pay off debt BUT and this is a big but, the confidence is solely based on the firm belief that an incoming new regime will have to drastically cut spending levels and the wholly unexplored implication is that newlabour have utterly failed to spell out a medium/long term cost cutting strategy. Newlabour have gone out of their way to not only not talk about the required massive expenditure cuts they have claimed that they will in fact raise spending levels or at least maintain them!

The BBC is determined to pretend that Brown’s profligacy is “investment” and only house-trained economists are permitted to posit opinion.

THE GREAT EDUCATION CON..

The BBC likes to play along with the nonsense that the “A” level has not been dumbed down. So today as even more students get Grade “A” the BBC changes the narrative to being one about the availability of university places. Naturally Labour play along with this and and thus the context of the debate changes in a way that favours the radical egalitarians. Let’s ignore the emasculation of what was once a gold standard education qualification and instead have a faux debate about how many more can be funnelled into University.

AFGHAN ATTACK!

The BBC has been working itself up into quite a frenzy ahead of the Afghan elections. The narrative is all about minimising any sense of progress being made. We had this diatribe broadcast at 7.49am this morning suggesting that the Afghan government does everything possible to “promote fraud” (Bit like Labour, really) and then at 8.34am the BBC interviewed Afghan “warlord turned militant” Gulbuddin Hekmatyar – who is the US most wanted man in the area. Lucky there wasn’t a drone nearby when this interview was taking place.
