Couldn’t resist this…

From Ed West’s Telegraph blog yesterday:

Most London media types in their thirties are still sartorially influenced by hip-hop, which American sociologist James Howard Kunstler thinks is a conscious decision to dress like babies.

Exhibit A – thirtysomething London media type Richard Bacon tweeting from New York yesterday:

Yo! 34-year-old white nigga! Boom!

(And he’s hip to the latest liberal lip.)

If I ever should feel the need to tweet I have asked my oldest son to shoot me.
Tweeting and trainers says it all. The man is a moron

I know many longtime B-BBCers couldn’t stand Simon Mayo, but his old R5 afternoon show towers over the drivel spouted by his successor, R Bacon. Recent coverage included “Which ‘Apps’ have changed your life?” and a live OB from the unveiling/launch of the iPad, not to mention his “What aspects of me annoy you?” item driven by a comment made by someone in ‘Big Brother’. Utter bollocks.

    I’m confused…

So capitalism is good if it’s a product that a Beeboid needs?  And Nike’s tainted history of using child slave labour is okay now because…?

Maybe Bacon needs his new Air Max trainers so he can run away quicker when he’s about to get bashed in public toilets.

    Boom!

    QUOTE FROM THE ARTICLE:

“(Tim Westwood still committed this crime well into his forties.)”

Does anyone even know who Tim Westwood is? I certainly don’t.

Millie – Tim Westwood is the privately educated son of the Bishop of Peterborough who is also a DJ on Radio 1 as well as other radio stations. He is well .. strange in that he talks like the privately educated son of a Bishop believes black people do but he also dresses like that as well despite being in his 40’s. The first time I saw him my first thought was that he was a bad joke and my second thought was that he was racially offensive in the same way that the black & white ministral show was in the mid-1970’s. Instead however the BBC management (themselves white and privately educated) appear to think he is the voice of black youth and keep him on the air.

A few years ago I worked with someone (black and not the subject of an expensive education) who was trying to break into the rap business whose views on Mr Westwood can’t be repeated here. But I was told if you want to break into the British rap scene you have to appear on Mr Westwood’s show and be nice to him. Despite this he has been the subject of an assasination attempt.

Anyhow I could rant all day but this will give you a taste of him ..

Good Lord, is he in some way influential? He appears to be mentally deficient. He makes Richard Bacon seem like John Stuart Mill.

Any ethnic dialect other than white English is considered cool.  Talking like Vickie Pollard is not considered cool by these self-loathing, post-modern whitebreads, but affecting the dialect of the socio-economic equivalent of an “oppressed minority” is.  I say “affecting” because that’s what it is.  This guy wasn’t born into this cultural behavior – he’s appropriating it for his own self-gratification.

Quite astonishing, in his 40s and “man”, how many times?  “wow crazy time man” and, I notice regarding his sexuality he says “I’m just hanging on there local”- what on earth does that mean? This is a BBC employee…. 1327 wrote above:

Thats so true, talk about patronizing!  He ought to be compared with Ali G, perhaps ALi G is based on this BBC type? I have no idea. This must be one of the best examples of  a “wigger”, and a BBC one at that. God help us.

Thanks for the confirmation 1327. I found the following remark in Sacha Baron Cohen’s Rolling Stone interview:

One of the inspirations for the character was a white BBC Radio One hip-hop DJ named Tim Westwood. “We used go to these hip-hop happenings, and even then he was kind of laughable. Once I found out that he was actually the son of a bishop, it became even more absurd. He was so keen to be presented as a gangsta.”
