MONDAY OPEN THREAD

My goodness, another week commences and time for the BBC  to hype the weather, drone on about horse meat and do everything possible to avoid discussing the killing fields of the NHS! A new open thread for you!

BBC_NUJ Radio 5 ‘PM’ decides: ‘the Tory Party is racist’.

It is the ‘perception’ of non-white voters in Eastleigh and throughout England that the Tories are racist, and that this ‘racism’ is indicated by Tory opposition to immigration into Britain, which harks back to Enoch Powell, so announced a BBc reporter, whose name was gabbled by Mr Mair, a few minutes ago.

It was on Radio 4 ‘PM’ at about 5:20 pm today.

Of course, BBC-NUJ couldn’t care less. or is oblivious that its own broadcast charge of ‘racism’ may apply to the very Beeboids who transmit such nasty propaganda.

But then BBC-NUJ don’t want Tories to win Eastleigh by-election, and can get away with it as usual.

Today is Shrove Tuesday & I will be indulging in a pancake or two (well French Crepes but then I’m a bit posh! lol). I like to celebrate my heritage, and mark the passing seasons with the traditional customs. I will be giving a few things up for lent, but I’m not ready to join our medieval ancestors in the ‘lentern diet’ which was basically Vegan plus fish.

Normally the bBC will have the odd article about Shrove Tuesday and pancakes, but this year there’s been precious little. The begining of lent marked with a presentation about Moslems who don’t believe in God (note not Allah which would be regarded as blasphemy).

I see this as yet another attempt of the left to destroy the culture of this country by simply ignoring it. All around the Christian world today is celebrated by some pretty strange customs – none of which have been remarked upon, even Spain where they must have some festival involving animal cruelty hasn’t merited a mention.
Today is Mardi Gras – not even a mention of one of the biggest carnivals in the world.
If it aint Moslem it aint going on the air.

    This may be worth monitoring:

Radio 4 ‘File on 4′, 8 pm tonight:

    “The Bill for Brussels”

“21 years after the signing of the Maastricht Treaty, Britain is trying to cut the cost of the European Union.

As the institution comes of age, Gerry Northam asks whether the EU’s spending on itself has become excessive and – if so – whether member states do anything about it.

In Brussels, hundreds of millions of pounds have been found for projects described by Eurosceptics as “self-aggrandisement”. An art deco showpiece is being transformed into a new headquarters for the European Council at a cost of around 300 million Euros (£250m). A further 55 million Euros (£46m) is going to create a House of European History – a museum celebrating European integration. A new 20 million Euros (£17m) visitors’ centre at the European Parliament, called the Parlamentarium, has been dismissed as a multimedia tribute to itself.

Meanwhile alarm has been raised that money the United Kingdom designates as aid for developing countries is being diverted by Europe to encourage Turkey, Serbia and others to join the Union. MPs claim this money directly disadvantages Britain.

Critics say Europe’s expansion comes with an unnecessarily large price tag. Are they right?”

    Reporter: Gerry Northam.

    [From today’s Evening Standard]

…..and a snub for Willey the pro

The Pope may have retired due to ill health the age of 80 but the BBC’s man in Rome, David Willey, is still going strong. Willey, also over 80, has served as Rome correspondent for more than 40 yeras, with Benedict XVI being the fourth Pope he’s seen in. He even persuaded Benedict to do a Thought for the Day for Radio 4.

One would have thought that if the BBC had such an experienced reporter in Rome, they might turn to him to do the reporting on yesterday’s shock resignation. Instead they jetted in BBC News at 10 anchor Huw Edwards and European editor Gavin Hewitt to cover the story.

Edwards ended up interviewing, er, David Willey.

[The Standard is rather left-wing editorially, but they don’t mind having the odd pop at the Beeb]

Didn’t Helen Boaden say last year that the BBC was going to look at the excessive spending on flying high-profile newsreaders around the globe?

The key word there is ‘excessive’. I’m sure she has a slightly different idea about what might constitute excess.

If you don’t like having your ribs tickled, look away now….the BBC has another new comedy show…well not exactly a new one…

Jeremy Hardy Speaks to the Nation

Stand by your radios! Jeremy Hardy returns for his new series.

Few can forget where they were 20 years ago when they first heard Jeremy Hardy Speaks to the Nation. The show was an immediate smash hit success, causing pubs to empty on a Saturday night, which was particularly astonishing since the show went out on Thursdays. The Light Entertainment department was besieged, questions were asked in the House and Jeremy Hardy himself became known as the man responsible for the funniest show on radio since Money Box Live with Paul Lewis.

Passionate, polemical, erudite and unable to sing, Jeremy returns with lines like:

“Kids should never be fashion slaves, especially in the Far East. My 12 year old daughter asked me for a new pair of trainers. I told her she was old enough to go out and make her own”.

“Islam is no weirder than Christianity. Both are just Judaism with the jokes taken out.”

[Oh my aching sides! Actually Jeremy, I think you’ll find that Christianity left at least some of the jokes in. Go on I dare you Jeremy…. do a full on Islam joke and see where it gets you…..]

The shape of things to come ?

“As those with brains predicted at the time the EU would open national borders to uncontrolled immigration. The smaller countries were in particular danger since just a few hundred thousand eg Muslims could seriously affect the cultural and racial harmony of smaller EU members: Here we see how our country is suffering not just from an economic holocaust but a cultural invasion:
    • Of the homicides and robberies committed in 2010-2011 51.66% of the perpetrators were foreigners.
    • For the period 2011-2012 52.86% of the perpetrators were foreigners,
    • According to available data for the period from 2004 to 2009, 17.6% of births in our country came from foreign mothers.
    • According to recent Ministry of Justice data 65% of all inmates in our prisons (i.e. 7,900 out of a total of 12,479 inmates) are foreigners. Moreover, 4,000 of those inmates are illegal immigrants.”
The Minister for Public Order admitted in Parliament that, our country “is in a state of absolute danger, in a state of a total overthrow of the social structure because of immigration”.

Or perhaps of things that have already come to pass ?

I basically replaced occurrences of the word ‘Greece’ with ‘our’ or ‘our country’ in the above article, taken from the blog, ‘A Tangled Web’ (to which all credit) , and omitted the name of the Greek Minister – Mr Nikolaos Dendias, whose speech above, about his country, was reported last September.

I’m pretty darned sure this didn’t figure on any headline news from the BBC that I saw at that time, nor do I recall it being discussed on the 08:10 slot on the Today programme….

“‘Politically correct’ BBC ignoring Harold Wilson’s pipe in five hour tribute, says Lord Donoughue.
“The BBC has been criticised as ‘Stalinist’ and ‘politically correct’ for allegedly trying to play down Harold Wilson’s pipe smoking in a five hour television special tomorrow night.”

Just been watching the Beeb programme about Lincoln on BBC 2. It ends with everyone saying Obama is like Lincoln. What propaganda.

Next week on the BBC how Kim Jong Un is like Dr Martin Luther King.
