I hope that I am being far too pessimistic but I think that by year end Holland, France and Germany will still have pro EU, liberal left governments . That the BBC will be crowing that the centre has reasserted itself etc etc. In the U.K. Brexit may have been overturned but not so the people will notice. Only in the USA will the anti liberal elite flame still be alive but that depends on President Trump being able to fight off the non stop attacks from the MSM and political establishment.
In my view there is along hard road ahead before the liberal elite is defeated and victory is by no means assured.

There was a time when every hospital had its own bank of staff willing to work extra shifts. The simple rule was that when you needed to cover a shift your first call was to the bank coordinator, then you offered overtime, and only in an extreme emergency did you contact an agency. With the coming of the Labour government it was decided that it was inefficient for every hospital to have its own bank and that there should be an NHS wide arrangement – NHS Professionals. Hospitals were instructed to close down their staff banks. The result was a massive increase in the use of agency staff. Having been set up in 2001 NHS Professionals was reorganised in 2004 and re-disorganised in 2010.
If the BBC looked it could find material for an extended series on how the problems in the NHS are caused by political posturing not under funding.

I’ve just been listening to Money Box and this week’s edition is another of those programmes where the BBC find a story that they would like to tell but in the telling it turns out that the story isn’t what they thought!
So:
“Firms and individuals in Sweden have been willingly overpaying their taxes. The excess cash from that accounts for almost half of the country’s Skr85bn budget surplus. Professor Lars Calmfors from the Institute for International Economic Studies at Stockholm University explains what’s behind it and why the Swedish government considers it to be a problem. “
Clearly the Swedes are so virtuous that they fling money at the state, just like the BBC would like us to do.
But it turns out that citizens and companies can pay money into a tax account in advance of their tax assessment and if they overpay the money is refunded – plus 0.5% interest. At the moment the Swedish economy is so screwed that companies get paid negative interest on their deposits in banks and ordinary citizens get zero interest.
So far fom being altrustic socialists the Swedes are ‘looking out for number one’ and getting the best return for their money.
What is even more crazy about this story is that the BBC presenter, Lesley Curwen, having listened to this explaination still can’t understand why Swedes should do such a crazy thing and doubts whether we, (bigoted, racist, xenophobic, europhobic, far-right, uneducated, ‘loads of money’ etc.), Brits would ever go for such a scheme! Pay me 0.5% BBC and I might just pay the TV tax in advance!
P.S. The big problem of paying this interest works out as a massive £2.5 per person per annum, except that the Swedes have now dropped the rate to zero.

As for terror threats here in the UK we can tell the bias at a glance by the fact that the very real threat from Irish Dissident Republicans is not mentioned.
