Weekend Open Thread

This week the Centre for Policy Studies published a report claiming to have found a left of centre bias in the BBC’s online reporting of think tanks. They also claim right of centre think tanks are more likely to receive health warnings than their left of centre counterparts.

The CPS itself is hardly impartial on the BBC – it argues for a smaller BBC and campaigns against the licence fee.

BBC News provides impartial and independent coverage to a quarter of a billion people across the world.

Fran Unsworth

A new day, a new head of news, the same old bias ala the Today show.

List it all here……

The bbc has many weapons available in its ‘editorial integrity’ arsenal. Once a story has been selected and the line taken, they can really go to work. Selected vox pops, quotes they like, unflattering photos plus, of course, the question asking what they want to state but dare not.

Someone mentioned Lord Matlock Brown as leading a Remain Campaign against the democratic wish of the EU Referendum. He needs special investigation, he is CEO of SMartmatic the company that used oh so reliable non hacking voting machine in USA!!! Also on Board of George Soros Open Society. Really need to thoroughly check background of these people. As per Gina Miller look at the contacts of hedge fund husband. Also interesting to note the websearch Google of my Lord Matlock Brown and voting machine did not bring up one related site yet DuckDuckGo did!!!!! Not the first time I have noticed Google doing that.

    DIfferent bias

Radio 5 live sports commentaries on Rugby are outrageously biased pro English teams in international club competitions and viciously anti-referee. During this weekend’s Leicester v Munster it was obvious with such comments as “I think the Referee was right there”. Of course he was you idiot: he is a lot nearer to the action than you, and he knows the Laws of the Game, and he is used to making such decisions. The blatant jubilation at the Munster yellow card didn’t help and the clear disappointment that Leicester lost at home was shocking.

Lefty media reporting on Centers for Disease Control : TRump ban : Policy analysts will be instructed to avoid using seven words in grant applications, including “fetus” and “transgender,” say reports.
eg On 15 December 2017, the Washington Post

The Department of Health and Human Services, however, released a statement denying that the story is accurate:

The assertion that HHS has ‘banned words’ is a complete mischaracterization of discussions regarding the budget formulation process. HHS will continue to use the best scientific evidence available to improve the health of all Americans. HHS also strongly encourages the use of outcome and evidence data in program evaluations and budget decisions.

Later on 17 December 2017, CDC director Dr. Brenda Fitzgerald tweeted that no words are banned

I agree with what you are saying but have found that media report upsetting as my husband is a taxi driver and at around the same time on Sunday morning phoned me with the same message. Tbh, I for once don’t care about what race he is, my heart goes out to his wife for getting that call that we wives of taxi drivers or anyone who drives for a living dread. It certainly made me hug my husband a little more before he started his shift yesterday.

Just to add, there are white taxi drivers still out there my husband is one and the amount of passengers who prefer a white driver is staggering. His old firm used to get round this by putting on the screen they accept jobs from that the passenger had requested a “old driver”, this meant a white driver.

    Big Brother is watching

Twitter is preparing to launch a ‘purge’ which could result in a lot of people’s accounts being shut down. The social network unveiled its new rules on abuse and threats of violence in November and they come into force today. Anyone who flouts the rules will be banned permanently. Conservatives and right-wingers fear they will be targeted during the purge and are already calling on supporters to swap to platforms like Gab, which is uncensored and dedicated to freedom of speech. People on the right often allege that Silicon Valley is gripped by left-wing bias and hellbent on silencing opposing voices. But left-wingers and liberals fear Twitter has gone too far by allowing members of the far right to use it to spread a message they deem to be hateful.

Because when immigration is too high (no figure given), when the pace of change is too fast, it’s impossible to build a cohesive society. It’s difficult for schools and hospitals and core infrastructure like housing and transport to cope. And we know that for people in low-paid jobs, wages are forced down even further while some people are forced out of work altogether. … So there is no case, in the national interest, for immigration of the scale we have experienced over the last decade.

This is a real problem for Corbyn. He knows that high wages and decent public services depend on control of immigration and the prevention of the employer using casual and low wage workers because there is easy access to immigrants. It also weakens Trade Unions.

The EU commission , borrowing a phrase from the BBC play book, has announced that Europe is too white and that must have millions of none white migration each year for the foreseeable future. Also that even if Europe wanted to it could not prevent these migrants from arriving.
Well the example of the impact of Hungary’ s border fence neatly exposes the second claim as ridiculous . As to the first claim , that Europe needs millions of third worlders , it is so barmy that anyone saying it is in need of immediate psychiatric help. How on earth can we need millions of rapists , murderers, mad car rammers, anti semites , people who hate our culture and our way of life.
I am sure that every time some idiotic politicians make such a pronouncement another million or so Europeans turn away in bafflement and decide to vote for any party that opposes it. The liberal left are tremendously effective recrters for the populist movements they loath and fear . So please keep on repeating this tripe and watch the anti immigration anti Islamification movements grow right across Europe. Can’t happen fast enough.

it is on this that the EU will break. The Visegrad countries will either have to agree or leave . The logic is remorseless . However this existential crisis facing the EU ( and by that I mean the current Brussels elite) is just not mentioned on our media. It is as if it does not exist.
The only other alternative is that the EU is utterly reconstituted and that the Visegrad views hold sway. That is an EU I would happily join.

        • Cranmer says:

Applying Occam’s Razor, the most likely solution that I can see to the ‘problem’ of the Visegrad states is that they will be bought, pure and simple. They will be blackmailed by the EU with dire financial penalties if they do not comply, but increased funding and trinkets if they agree to the globalists’ demands. The EU cannot permit ideological dissent on such a scale, but nor can it eject a country for non-compliance. It MUST control the Visegrad Treaty states or the whole ghastly project crumbles. My view is that a similar ‘fudging’ exercise will take place with them as is taking place on the other ‘front’ with Brexit.

On questioning the BBC’s choice of words/terms such as Divorce, Grooming and No Deal … here is the reply:
    . . .
BBC News always aims for the highest standards in its reports – to be fair, accurate and impartial. Impartiality is a core value of the BBC, and one reason why we believe our news coverage is trusted and respected around the world. We apply this principle to our reporting of all issues. BBC News never takes a position on anything that we cover, but we always aim to reflect a broad range of voices on any given subject. The BBC is of course independent of any political or commercial interests, and our news agenda would never be influenced by any outside organisation.

However, we appreciate that you may continue to feel differently, so I have passed your complaint onto news teams and senior management on our audience feedback report. These reports are among the most widely read sources of feedback within the BBC and help inform both current and future broadcasts. (Jane McMeekin)

    – BBC give the game away ‘our news agenda would never be influenced by any outside organisation’.

Let me say that I have no connection with the Spectator , but once again I must urge those who can to read an article in it, this time by a James Bartholomew about why the liberal elite think and react as they do. He succinctly sums up what so many of those who post and visit this site say and believe, that the liberal elite have not been educated but indoctrinated, they can’t think for themselves , they have an overweening and totally unjustified belief in their own virtue and moral superiority and they have an overwhelming sense of entitlement.

One of the most important things schools and universities teach is that the students must never, under any circumstances, be suspected of racism…

Another central tenet of the dogma is that women have been oppressed, are oppressed and, for the future, there is no limit to what we must do to ensure they get to be in the same situation as men — having as many directorships and military medals and anything else one can think of. Feminist doctrine has so permeated the elite that its members assumed that all women in the USA would vote against Trump after his vulgar, arrogant remarks about touching women were leaked. The elite thought that was ‘game over’ for Trump. Ordinary women took a different view. A majority of white women voted for Trump…

The BBC are loving the report of institutional rubbish which has been released today. Even the BBC admits that no one person ever was individually waycist, but there was ‘institutional waycism’. There is no evidence what so ever to support this claim other than the fact that the political correctness enforcement squad are crap, and the victim happened to have an ethnic background.

When the PCES are completely incompetent, which alas is most of the time, and the victim is white, there is never an issue, no one is found guilty of misconduct no one of malfeasance, no one of ‘waycism’. The only times there are apologies is when they are wrung out of them by court action, and often then they don’t accept that they did anything wrong.

Witness though the difference between the killing of an ethnic like De Menezes and Harry Stanley who the useless PCES shot because he was carrying a table leg. The coroner didn’t even allow the jury to return a verdict of anything other than lawful killing or an open verdict !

It is clear that the useless PCES failed Bijan Ebrahimi, but it is absolutely not clear that they would have treated anyone else any differently, nor that his race played any factor what so ever. It’s just more anti white racism under a tissue thin cloak of respectability, because the evidence shows white people would have, and have been treated in a far worse manner, but then white lives simply don’t matter.

I don’t consider myself in the least a heartless, unfeeling bastard but i am 77 years old and I can honestly never remember a time when we were not shown images of starving and disease ridden brown skinned children and adults, the inference being that we in the “rich” countries have a duty to try to alleviate it. Well yes and for the majority of my life I did indeed go along with that. However there comes a time when you begin to think that outside help just isn’t working. Why am I still being shown these images? Where has all the money aid gone? Would white people have done any better under similar conditions? I can only conclude that maybe the answer is that white skinned people are better at thinking than they are at fucking and vice versa. Just a thought.

Well-maybe that depression, use of meds and general misery are correlated to hours of endless miserable emoting adverts that only induce helplessness and a wish to send your pittance to Jude Law or Lily Allen. Why no research into THAT?

Alicia I think this is spot on, thank you for posting.

My late father was a mainstream news junkie and I visibly saw the burdening effect it had on him. Sensitive souls get trampled on, as the powers that be have determined the only way to register your worth as a citizen of the planet it seems is via uptake of a righteous social campaign or cause. Mostly this takes the form of aggressive brow-beating which masquerades as ‘caring’. Those who haven’t been beaten down yet know that it’s possible — and preferable — to work gently in one’s own life, culture, country.

Similarly with the endless reporting of increasing mental health issues in young people (which I do not doubt). Will the solution come from more and more, err…. ‘awareness’ in the form of YouTube vids, guilt-ridden campaigns, angry action groups and so on? I don’t believe so.

Let`s not fall for this “institutional racism” catch-all.
For that is just as “institutionally racist” as the hapless do-gooders and nay-sayers in Bristol and Avon.
Don`t let them get away with this lazy cliche that says nothing, teaches us nothing and ensures that those guilty clots who let this happen can sleep easily in their beds, after all they`ve done.
No institution acts in any manner that allows it to be racist. Or even racialist.
No-this is NOT “race or migrant related”.
This was due to locals on a run down estate who were feral and reckoned that there`d be no sanctions if they killed the local paedo…and that the authorities would not deal with that allegation, or the law behind them was useless was all-too -apparent. People get no justice, the media and police refuse to be open and the accused gets no real protection.
The Bristol teacher from a few years ago was similarly hung out to dry and death by rumour
, as were poor Fiona Pilkington and her daughter in Leicestershire.
These are failings of the authorities and their craven terror of crims and vigilantes-who, in turn know that the law will not prevent them from doing their evils…because the law has been lost to them and their solicitors and compo quangos.
RIP, Iranian lad…but the authorities weren`t racist-just the same useless gimps that let Fion, her daughter and Christopher get hounded-and to death in a few cases.

In August 10- 11th Al Gore and 3 or 4 Climate loons got slots on R4Today, Lord Lawson got less than half the time of Gore
and spoke for about 3 minutes himself
Now “Ofcom took over responsibility for regulating the BBC on 3 April 2017.” Lord Lawson was on RToday on 10th August
But now Ofcom are doing a big investigation hyped by the BBC
Ofcom to investigate BBC climate change interview

    Context
\\Lord Lawson only appeared at all because the arch-global warming alarmist Al Gore was first invited on Today. He was treated with kid gloves, with virtually no challenge, as he outlined that man’s impact on the climate was intensifying to catastrophic proportions.
To ‘balance’ these highly contentious claims, the interview with Lord Lawson was then arranged. But the odds were stacked against him in that he appeared with with two other alarmist figures who countered his every claim.
Lord Lawson made one minor error over statistics. But he immediately owned up to it and a correction was issued// Newswatch
\\ Nigel Lawson was allowed onto the Today programme in response to an earlier interview with Al Gore promoting his new alarmist film. Gore had made the false claim that “The second big change is that the climate-related extreme weather events have grown far more numerous and far more destructive”, and Lawson corrected him on that, pointing out what the IPCC says about extreme events. He also corrected Gore’s bogus claims about fossil fuel subsidies, saying that fossil fuels are taxed, not subsidised. He also said that “during this past 10 years if anything mean global temperature has slightly declined,” which is not correct according the most commonly used indices// CliScep
