Start the Week Open Thread 15 October 2018

The Far Left BBC and the rest of the main stream media reported -with the usual bias – on a march on Saturday by the Democratic Football Lads Alliance. The opposition was described as ‘anti fascist’ therefore labelling the Lads as fascist . This has turned into a term of abuse now – or just for a person with whom one doesn’t agree. From traffic wardens to American presidents the term ‘fascist’ is thrown out as easy hate.

As for Brexit – the BBC will be stirring the pot again to support the EU against Britain in yet another “crunch week” ….

\\”Intensive” work is needed to overcome differences on the Irish border and reach a Brexit deal, Theresa May says.//
Mrs Chamberlain, we voted out, not for any sort of bargain basement “Brexit Deal” .
The Remainers have brought in the dodgy deal to fudge the result of the vote for UK’s independence.
Mrs Chamberlain is playing for time. We have already waited 2 years and four months .

A hundred years ago thousands of young British men gave ‘their all’ for our freedom and democracy.
This new bunch of London snowflakes wont give up their latte coffee.
There was no deal mentioned in the referendum, it was “REMAIN” or “LEAVE”.

Taffy – I love the bit about “intensive work” this bunch of conniving bastards wouldnt recognise ten seconds “intensive work” if it jumped up and bit them in the wallet.
What is for sure is that our gutless, perfidious, socialist, excuse for a PM and her Oily friend have already agreed the surrender deal and their only problem is how she spins it for the public.
Will it be “rabbit from the hat” I can see the Daily Mail headline now “Our gal does it for Britain” – “Theresa master statesman yesterday after a midnight meeting in Bussels “…………………….
Or will it be presented as some sort euro “cave in” – Daily mail headline. “Theresa shows her mettle” – “Yesterday after an astonishingly intensive round of talks – the Prime Minister stood her ground and came back with an astonishing deal for Britain”………………!

Of course the only spanner in the works is the DUP. Lets hope she is unable to buy Arlene off with promises she has no intention of keeping.
Sad that the only hope for anything resembling a true Brexit comes from a Group of ten MPs who are not even from the mainland. It must make the likes Soudbry very proud.
Anyway I am off to buy an industrial pack of sickbags for the forthcoming “good news”

I see this whole process as more of a pantomime rather than a negotiation, with the MSM and especially the BBC as the supporting cast booing and cheering on cue for dramatic effect.
Theresa was appointed by the Tories for one reason , and that was retain the status quo as best she can for her globalist business mates, She knows “Chequers” is a crock of shit, but it is an ideal basis for any deal as fundamentally it is a sellout and any thing derived from it by nature will also be the same. That is why she is keeping such a death grip on this discredited piece of shite.
The remainers cannot lose. They may dramatically groan and complain but as always with the EU the devil will be in the detail which probably will not come out for years.
We should leave completely and adopt WTO rules as anything else is not what we voted for and retains the dead hand of the EU Commission over our business.

There is an old adage in engineering that you can’t fix a problem if you can’t describe it. One of my concerns is that our language has been perverted by those that mean us harm with the deliberate object of making it impossible to describe the problems that they have created.

So you think that you see ‘books being burned’ but the media will tell you that they are ‘creating a safe space’! Another example; a host might once have said “Good evening everyone!” but now, to be ‘inclusive’ it/she/he/zur would need to begin reading out a complete lexicon of ‘identities’. Unfortunately that lexicon is controlled by the ‘crazies’ and that excludes the ‘normal’ from any discussion.

I have a younger relative who is in to all this stuff and who believes that it will all lead to a better future. I tell him that he should watch Dr. Jordan Peterson, but he says that he doesn’t need to because Peterson blames it all on ‘Post-Modernism’ but Peterson doesn’t know what Post-Modernism is, (unlike my relative), and therefore doesn’t speak the new language and can safely be ignored.

I say to my relative, “You are an idiot!”. I trust that means the same in his language as it does in mine!

I used the old adage in Astronomy ten years ago. Problem: How can you calibrate carbon dioxide warming independently from the second law of thermodynamics. Fix: Produce a formula that works for the Atmospheres of both Mars and Venus. In 2011, Ned Nikolov & Karl Zeller produced that formula, which proves that carbon dioxide warming is a hoax.

This would make a great “Horizon” documentary once the Liberal fascist swamp was cleared away from the BBC.

The lazy Getty image*, the BBC not having any images of its own, shows a right hand, so doesn’t really add much to the story. Of course it is possible that Getty/BBC ‘flipped’ the original image, photo editors/archivists seem to be quite careless in that respect.

[* This is clearly an old image taken on film so quite easily scanned ‘flipped’ in error. I know it is an old image because all new Getty images show black/brown people only.]

It mocks the BBC by depicting them as unthinking and reflexive automatons. For instance, instead of choosing the best Atmospheric Physicists in the land, the BBC instead chose environmental activists as non-player characters (NPCs) who reflexively spout Climate alarmist axioms in response to real-world weather events.

The BBC calls its NPCs the best scientific experts in climate science, but the real experts such as individuals with something to say such as Richard Lindzen, Piers Corbyn, Gerhard Gerlich, Ned Nikolov, Karl Zeller, Henrik Svensmark and all those Astronomers who talk about barycentres and Albedo, are kept “off air” because they are not moronic NPCs.

The BBC keeps these scientists “off air” by using a scripted response such as (1) They would produce a “False Balance” with our NPCs, or “best scientific experts” as the BBC calls them. (2) They are not part of the NPCs, or “consensus” as the BBC calls them.

That page (linked by GWF above) is so badly written it’s embarrassing.
Margaret Thatcher is summed up thus:

“Her policies gave thousands of people the chance to buy their council houses and snap up shares in newly-privatised industries ….”.

No mention of the Falklands Victory or generally wresting control from the strangehold of the unions and reversing the attitude that government’s only purpose is to manage decline.

On Mary Seacole, “in 2004 voted the greatest black briton”. Who voted? There couldn’t have been much to choose from then.

” … her contemporary Florence Nightingale, who was also a nurse during the Crimean War”. So Mary Seacole was the main event and Florence just a sideshow?

Florence Nightingale made nursing into a profession.

There’s a really good article relevant to this distorting of history in schools today by Tom Utley in the Mail :

        https://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-6267035/TOM-UTLEY-Corbyn-wants-teach-children-history-suggest-starts-Marxism.html

written in response to Corbyn’s speech about his opinion that there should be more teaching about Black History in Schools.

“All four boys were bombarded with information about the evils of slavery and colonialism and the sins of the British Empire. Meanwhile, whole lessons were devoted to a mixed-race woman called Mary Seacole ……. ”

I know the Mail has gone downhill but Tom Utley still tells it like it is.

    Merkel & Macron

    Stalled & Catastrophic

The BBC’s anti-Brexit agenda is clearly on display this morning being most obviously identifiable within the editorial script decisions on their News Channel’s – Business Live show.

Here our duo of female presenters, Bundock and Fritz, tell us negotiations have “stalled”

Yet again, I refer back to the warnings from Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis that the EU would never negotiatiate in good faith.

More recently he : “warned neither French President Emmanuel Macron or German Chancellor Angela Merkel want Brexit to define their term of office so will attempt to deny the UK a full exit from the Brussels bloc.”

Our own BBC Merkel & Macron (Bundock and Fritz) exaggerate the woes of the UK car industry. Apparently it “could be set back 20 years”. But can negotiations be termed as having ‘stalled’ when they never really had the starter motor going? When talks were never actually put in gear? Name a concession Brussels has made to us?

And then we have the new improved project fear. Bundock & Fritz put a shout out for pro-Brussels soundbites they can shout back to us: “Tell us what you are doing to prepare for Brexit?” “Stockpiling passports” comes the first comment helping the narrative.

So we have negotiations that never really began termed as stalled. How about the alternative? Leave on WTO rules. You know, like the rest of the world. How would that look? “Catastrophic” yells our EUBBC duo. The quote carefully sourced from”business”. Some Brussels-funded crony corporate outfitlike the CBI no doubt furnishing the BBC with that one.

The UK produced more cars 20 years ago:
      1998 – 1,748,000 cars
      2017 – 1,670,000 cars
Last year was a good year for the UK car industry (that will be because of all the Brexit worries, right?). Compare with 2009, the last full year of the Blair/Brown regime, when it slumped to a production figure of 999,000.
Anyway, as was established in the Soviet Union, economic production can only be reliably measured in terms of number of tractors produced in Ukraine, comrade.

The BBC Picture Editor has boobed again!

BBC web-site Home Page (https://www.bbc.co.uk/) shows about half-way down the page a pic of a burger on a very flamey grill illustrating a food programme on R5L in the ‘Lifestyle’ category. Heading is ‘Do we eat too much meat?’.

The BBC, no doubt anxious to support the latest crazy report from the mad ‘scientists’ at the IPCC, wish to reinforce their suggestion that the world needs to adopt a vegan diet to stave off global warming. The BBC really needed a picture of a whole bullock over a fire or a hog roast or somesuch, not a burger.

As everyone knows, a burger contains ingredients other than meat. As not everyone knows, it is also – if made from good ingredients – a very healthy way to eat some, but not a lot of, meat.

A range of factors affect how we put together our news bulletins. Is it breaking news, or a dated story? Does it follow on from a recent event, or change our understanding of things? Is it unusual, or attracting national interest? We consider these things and also put great importance on verifying events and building up a clear picture – before reporting in a reliable and trustworthy way.

Editorial decisions are more of a judgement call, than an exact science – so you’ll even find variety from one BBC programme to the next. Time constraints, the expected audience profile and the style of each bulletin or current affairs programme can all play a part.

Suggestions for other stories to consider can be made here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/have_your_say

Nevertheless, we appreciate the feedback that our viewers and listeners give us when they feel a story has been overlooked or marginalised.

All complaints are sent to senior management and programme makers every morning and we have included your points in this overnight report. These reports are among the most widely read sources of feedback in the BBC and ensures that your complaint has been seen by the right people quickly.

Thank you again for taking the time to contact us.

Free TV licences for over-75s could be scrapped!
I have never been much keen on the BBC license fee. I may be an ‘Oldie’ but I am not the BBC target market (and have never been much of a ‘yoof’ either) that the BBC seems to think are easily controlled and somehow more important than reality itself. I never watch the BBC – if I can avoid it -and I can quite easily – thanks to some excellent competition that makes the BBC obsolete. So I am informed today that a new ‘think tank’ (oxymoron when anything self published linked to the BBC) will undoubtedly recommend a ‘public consultation’ (then ignored in true democratic EU style, that it has a ‘private consultation’ of a few lefties) and that they will be scrapping the ‘free’ TV license for over 75’s is a brilliant and inspired idea….

    https://www.moneywise.co.uk/news/2018-10-17/free-tv-licences-over-75s-could-be-scrapped?utm_source=IBMW&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=grow%20your%20money%20171018%20%281%29%20remainder&utm_content=

Should I be worried? The over 75’s are likley to be ignorant of form filling and although the threats by the BBC may be real (or imagined), it’s hardly going to make much difference when you watch FREEVIEW (which many – or all- BBC shows end up and not requiring a license fee). From experience and observation the over 75’s fall asleep easily at the very mention of a BBC luvvie on screen and prefer the Cops and Robber shows (usually from Australia).

If only the BBC were more imaginative in extending the TV licensee fee to Australia, now that might make a difference if the Australians are daft enough to watch any of the BBC shows ‘live’ although, I suspect not. IS the BBC a serious world broadcaster? or a local anomaly of the UK which has a national broadcast monopoly? Is ITV better than the BBC (in my view yes) and then I don’t watch much ITV either. I read a lot so there is an angle that Newspapers and Books can be taxed to fund the BBC. I predict that not only the BBC will ‘win’ its chance to get over 75’s in jail for non payment (for daring or political wrong thoughts) but the BBC could also double the TV license fee and extend the license to all parents with children under 5 but then nobody watches much BBC TV any more and parents are wary of letting their children watch the BBC for long due to its hectoring (and dismal sexualizing of all and sundry). Its just not a FUN station – or worth £30 per year – let alone £150. What will be in the New years (2019) another big BBC TV license tax increase to fund the lost souls in the ‘BREXIT’ referendum as they (the BBC) will have run out of money and EU subsidies (again). More TV license fees + higher cost per show TV is the obvious BBC answer to ALL competition from NETFLIX (who don’t do ‘advertising’ either and also offer a real choice in stark contrast to the BBC fingering and political gerrymandering. So over 75’s may welcome the choice between depravity (of the BBC) and everything else available world wide, mostly for free and a lot cheaper (and more informative) than the BBC will ever be. Food for thought!

I’ve never been keen on the idea of differentiated pricing for different sections of the population. If in the private sector a barber chooses to advertise half price for OAPs on a quiet Tuesday morning then that’s his free decision. His business, he either benefits or suffers. But when we have the public sector including the BBC (despite their dubious quasi-corporate set up they are public sector) striving to segment the population along identity lines and – dare I use the word – discriminating – between groups, then we have a problem.

How about those under a certain income level getting free TV Licences, how about the disabled, pregnant women… the list might go on and on. Now if we justify the over-75s getting the freebie on poverty grounds then we are saying pension levels are too low. That is a seperate discussion we need to to have and freebies such as TV Licence or free travel passes etc are masking the issue and preventing us having the real debate we need to have.

In any case this threat of the removal of the over-75 freebie will inevitably be lifted to great fanfare.

AsISeeit. If we take a logical approach to the current daft equality laws and extend them to ‘Ageism’ then we can make the claim that over 75’s are no different to children and therefore by extension, children would also be liable for TV licensee fees – if caught watching CBBC. It is also possible that the BBC will ‘fragment’ fees to it hold onto TV licensing by ‘fractional’ discrimination of the populace into sub optimal groups. Favoured (diversity inspired sex and overt poltical) groups are FREE whilst general population pay for it (as if imposed – no age discrimination – is allowed can be argued to favor a DIRECT ‘subsidy’ by the HM government to fund any loss of revenue by the BBC TV license. This is the Orwell moment, when the BBC looses its sole claim to ‘impartiality’ (hah!) , to be at supposed ‘arms length’ from the left leaning civil-service and that it will and DOES discriminate on moral, religious, age and political left wing issues claiming itself to be ‘impartial’ – when in practice this is dependent on political subsidy and favors.

Philip, it will be interesting if the BBC put some numbers to this ‘cost-saving measure’ at the outset.

It will also be interesting, if the Free Over-age 75 Licence is scrapped, what the BBC accounts will show for LF income for the first full year after change. If it is not much different, then it will be a foot-shooting exercise of historic proportions.

It will also be interesting if the BBC then keep trumpeting “We are all living longer” quite so much.

There is no reason for this other than falling revenues. As more and more people get sick of their lefty bias, they stop paying the tax.
Crapita goons have already had polite threats from myself and 2 of my neighbours over the last few years, and were reassured if they started their shit on any of our wives or families, what would happen to them.
I suspect that they see over 75’s as a soft touch, well off, and less likely to refuse one of their official looking goons access to their home.

I don’t know if anyone else noticed but this web-site got a Radio 4 mention last night.

Ken Cheng was quite funny in his intro. (BBC R4 11.02pm Weds 17th Oct.) I had to switch off afterward though. His material was sabotaged by canned laughter inserted into the wrong places, either with or without the Producer’s say-so.

(I have a suspicion that performers really do not like it. I have an additional suspicion that the engineering staff – who have to do it – definitely do not like it either. It appears it is insisted upon by Producers or by the Head of Comedy. I also suspect that Engineering deliberately sabotage the process – adding laughter in the wrong places/duplicating/cutting the clip – in order to generate complaints.)

Ken, if you wish to complain to Julia McKenzie or Gwyneth Williams or both, let us on B-BBC know, and we will support you. I hope other B-BBCers do not object to my presumption and agree.

The BBC Radio Comedy producers on Facebook said they never use canned laughter.
I say they use curated laughter and selective editing, ie use the laughter from the first take where the performer fluffed his lines etc.

        Stew, do you believe them?

The phrase that Mark Damaser used, nigh on 20 years ago, was “adjusted laughter”. Unfortunately, after he had gone on Feedback and said that, one or two performers and Presenters dropped very clear hints that he ‘had done a Hillary’, ie. misspoken.

Quite a while back I tried to check if particular performances were in front of a studio audience. It wasn’t easy. The trigger was that Continuity no longer say “which was recorded live in front of an audience.” when announcing a programme. I searched in vain for the ticket application listings and they were very limited. It was almost impossible to tie up for future programmes as so few were listed.

There might be a determined geek out there with absolutely nothing else to do in life who could log every live show and match it to subsequent broadcasts but that is not me.

As Continuity have introduced programmes in the past as being “new series” when in fact they are repeats, I really do not trust the BBC on this. It used always to be the case that a repeated radio programme was introduced as such. Not so now.

For the reasons I mention, I think the process is being deliberately sabotaged. I will make further enquiries when possible. 😉

“A nation can survive its fools (David Lammy), and even the ambitious (Boris Johnson). But it cannot survive treason from within. (Theresa May and Philip Hammond)

An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly.

But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor (Jeremy Corbyn); he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men.

He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.”

Apparently.

Those most offended by Ken being so sullied also appear to love this bloke beyond all reason.

Despite being on the BBC a lot, and clearly a hero to Sir Bob, Sir Pat, Sir Cumspect, etc, what exactly are his qualifications to debate this issue?

Those wonderful ‘many’ that the BBC love to quote are at it again:
Many have argued that in the past Mary Seacole’s work has been overshadowed by her contemporary Florence Nightingale, who was also a nurse during the Crimean War. However in 2004, Seacole was voted the greatest black Briton and her achievements against a backdrop of discrimination in the 19th Century are becoming more widely recognised.”

So Florence Nightingale, who set up and ran hospitals and arguably defined the principles of modern nursing, ‘overshadowed’ the work of camp-follower and shopkeeper, (founder of the NAAFI?), Mary Seacole? Iz it cus I iz bleck? You bet!

BBC NI , usually so keen to report on everything the Irish government think and say about Brexit, haven’t mentioned the pictures of a bombed out border checkpoint that Leo Varadkar presented to his EU counterparts at a summit dinner on Wednesday. Obviously keen to show the perceived dangers of a future hard border and the ensuing violence and lawlessness that will happen, I’m sure that he highlighted the deaths of nine at the customs post near Newry in 1972. I wonder if he mentioned that the bomb went off prematurely and that besides killing six innocent civilians the three IRA members who were carrying out the attack were also blown to bits.

Better not to mention either that had they been more successful in their attack they would have found safe refuge in the land of Leo just across the border with little danger of being extradited by their accommodating Irish allies.

Yes, our insane immigration policies (or lack of) have spawned a whole industry that produces nothing at all, just drains the public coffers and gives it to the least deserving, such as in this case criminals. Lord help us, how have we got into this mess, and more importantly, how will we ever get out of it?

Gov has blocked a study into prisoners convert to Islam.
The Times always calls on the anti-metrolib Jawad Iqbal, who pushes back against MetroLibs
“…The no. of Muslim prisoners in jails in England & Wales has more than doubled in recent yrs,
    rising from 5500 in 2002 to 12894 in 2018.
Of the 200+ prisoners in custody in GB for terrorist-related offences, 82% are said to hold Islamist extremist views….
Problem is how to prevent extremists eg Choudary radicalising/influencing.
Ministry of Justice is wrong to block study on why inmates convert inc link to radicalisation.
MoJ thinks research won’t be helpful thus highlights a bureaucratic culture intent on burying head in sand”

“Westminster Bridge killer, Khalid Masood, a petty criminal, became an Islamist after converting in prison.
    – The problem isn’t confined to Britain’s jails.
Amedy Coulibaly, who killed four people at a kosher store in Paris,
and Chérif Kouachi, one of the brothers who carried out the attack on the offices of Charlie Hebdo magazine, were radicalised in a French jail.”

Drivers “include access to food available only to practising Muslim inmates,
as well as gaining the protection of powerful Muslim gangs. -Blocking the research risks withholding vital knowledge from prison staff”

      Top comment :
      \\ We already know that:
      1. The extremist sect called the “Deobandi” are in control of the Islamic prison clergy;
      2. The Deobandi are the largest group in the vocal MCB an organisation that will try to frustrate any attempt to deal with the issue;
      3. Labour and then May as home secretary allowed the Deobandi take over to happen;
      4. The Deobandi were founded as an anti European movement that eventually led to the Taliban; etc.
If the politicians do not know these things then they should not be home secretary or shadow, PM, or leader of the opposition.
Perhaps a read of “Londistan” would help them.
Start with how the Deobandi are legal, and why they control nearly all Sunni Cleric training in the UK.
The prison impact is one of many.//

A large proportion of UK mosques are allegedly Saudi funded

Raising multimillionaire tax exiles in unflattering ways is rather ‘brave’, considering the bbc BFF list currently on Brexit.

Now here’s a funny thing: you know how the beebistan love to quote celebs when they pontificate on politics, such as likul Lily Allen, Cucumberpatch or Gimme Lineker virtue signalling about heavily bearded ‘refugee’ children?
So you’d expect them to give prominent coverage (as has the Standard, msn and many others) to Michael Caine’s comments that he’d rather be poor outside the EU than rich in it.
(“I say I’d rather be a poor master of my fate than having someone I don’t know making me rich by running it.”)

Yet there’s zilch on their webshite, under Home, UK, Politics or Showbiz.

Not a lot of people know that. (And that’s how the beeb want to keep it.)

Another crunch week from BBC where treason May has done nothing for anyone again, except her EU masters. You wouldn’t have noticed that though, from biased bbc. Who had Dominic grieve with lots of extra time to talk about remain. Typical one sided BBC.

Theressa has to go, she can’t do what the country needs. Someone has to stick up for this great country, England, Ireland, Scotland & Wales! Come on guys get on with it!
You politicians need to sort this out so if your reading this get on with doing as the public voted.

    Brexit means Brexit now
