Advent indeed and perhaps a good time to remember that we may only get out of and away from the EU via a Divine miracle in answer to prayer, and that the message from on high, 2000+years ago, was good news and “Peace to all mankind.”.

      ‘No Brexit’ becomes a choice

At the G20 Mrs May lined up with the various unelected Presidents of the EU behind their comfortable agreement, no doubt much to the satisfaction of the globalist establishment, as they continued their offensive against the People and Parliament of Britain. Yesterday was supposed to have been about international trade, and I was looking forward to someone explaining why remaining chained to the world’s most protectionist trade block, which has sclerotic growth, a doomed currency union, and is being outperformed by thrusting, vibrant and free economies across the oceans, would be a good thing for the United Kingdom. It didn’t happen, of course.

What did happen was a co-ordinated response between May’s team and her EU allies.

The cronies in the EU have no interest in European people….

Recently in a landmark case THE ECHR redefined pedophilia as sexual attraction to children only “due to age”, while sexual attraction due to a child’s hair (or other attribute) was not pedophilia.

Furthermore this case sets the precedent that accuser has to prove the mechanism of attraction of the perpetrator…

Why have i not heard of this on the news you ask???

Well, the ECHR has recently upheld a conviction on an Austrian lady for calling Muhammad a pedophile because he married a six year old.

The courts “reasoning” was that Muhammad wasn’t a pedophile because there was no evidence that the attraction was due to age, rather than the child’s hair or other attribute… and it was incumbent on the Austrian lady to prove the nature of the attraction, evidence of the age was not sufficient.

This case has redefined pedophilia semi legalizing it in the process, This EU judgement now gives precedent for pedophiles having a defense based on the attraction not being due to age.

And where is the outcry against the ECHR from our MPs, the BBC, the MSM… all who claim to so wish to protect children???

One can only follow that with:

      Joshua Chapter 1
1 Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,

2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.

5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.

8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

      Joshua Chapter 5
13 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?

14 And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?

15 And the captain of the LORD’S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.

The Brexit debate appears to concentrate mostly on trade. Don’t hear much about sovereignty?

Years ago I learned that the EU could tell Britons how and when to dispose of their rubbish and even threaten to fine those inclined to disobey. I’d like to hear a debate about this, partly because the EU is such a rubbish organization.

And what about bananas? Under May’s deal, will bananas have to be straight and not curved? And if bananas insist on staying curved, as is their right, will the EU then resemble a banana republic?

TT, Philip Hammond in his TOADY Interview (R4 8.10am Wednesday, if my memory serves me well) implied that the UK was not, in its present position, an independent nation and never could be – unless we leave without a deal – but that the best we could hope for as a Brexit was the deal that the Prime Minister was offering.

Even after the Maastricht and Lisbon Treaties, John Major and Gordon Brown, respectively, as our Prime Ministers claimed that we were still independent, just one State among others, under those Treaties.

Now it appears we were not and still are not.

And that there is only one way to become a free and independent nation …….

        • Up2snuff says:

Thanks TT but I think we need more than ‘luck’.

I know what you mean and am familiar with the concept of families, tribes, Elders and a nation on a journey.

The UK is a complicated place because of a long history. As Esther Rantzen (ex-BBC) put it – in effect – in defending the decision to leave the EU (although she may have voted Remain herself) “It is Britain’s coastline that separates the UK from the EU politically, economically, socially and emotionally. We are an Island People. (You can see this at work in Scotland with the difference between the mainland peoples and the Hebrides, Orkneys and Shetlands islanders.)

We have a longer national history than many EU States, we have a very different legal system and unlike most of them we have retained our longstanding Monarchy but have also a longstanding link (via that Monarchy) to Europe and to the Christian Church via the Reformation which was a very European and British process. In addition, for historical reasons, we sit at the centre of the Commonwealth of Nations.

The EU forces conformity on its member States and will continue to do so, increasingly so in the years ahead. Already Poland, Hungary and now Italy are bristling against that enforced conformity.

It is a good time to leave the EU but it will be difficult to do so and then if we do get to fully leave, as we voted to do, no doubt further difficulties will lie ahead.

But when – even during our time of EU membership – did they ever not?

Libya. 2007-2009. Terrorism. Gulf 2. Serbia. Bosnia. Sierra Leone. More terrorism. Black Wednesday. Gulf 1. Berlin Wall. World Recession. Even more terrorism. The Miners’ Strike. The Falklands Liberation. (Where was the EU then, when at first we stood alone?) The Poor Man of Europe. The IMF Loan crisis. The London Stock Market Crash. I may have missed some significant points but you will, no doubt, get the picture.

Eventually, out of the EU I believe the UK will first survive and and then thrive.

I think it is that that terrifies the ones whose souls have been so totally possessed by the EU – our surviving and thriving outside.

Up2 – I also think it’s about State dependency . Lefties – Snowflakes – have been bred believing in State dependency -and spending others peoples money on their preferred issues.

In Blighty this has happened with an uncoupling of duty ( to the state ) and ‘rights’( eg to benefits ) – which distorted the original Beverage ideal.

I believe that if we stay in the ReichEU this ‘uncoupled duty’ will change and citizens of the ReichEU will be forced to comply with the Will of those running the State or pay a penalty – this will either be at ‘nation ‘ level or individual level .

We re seeing this already with country’s being punished for wrong votes or economic misbehaviour .

I sometimes wonder if what Blighty is trying to do is what the confederates were trying to do in the American Civil War – but without the bloodshed . But that’s a flight of fancy with someone with a bit of time on their hands .

If you accept what I say – you see why the BBC is so enthusiastic about the ReichEU State .

My consolation – if the sell-out Withdrawal Agreement is passed, is that other events, and rebellious countries with better leaders than ours, will eventually show the EU for what it is – a sinister totalitarian body that despises its own people. It will be swept away at some point, at the first sign of military opposition it will fold like a paper tiger.

As we are entering the season of good-will I’m afraid to say I don’t have much of it for our maniac Remainers, who I wish would just move en-masse to their favoured EU countries and never bother us again.

On the radio earlier today I heard Mishal talking with some NGO apparatchik about global warming. And for all those politicians that support this nonsense I’d wish them Merry Christmas – but only after forcibly removing them to some godforsaken rain-lashed island without electricity.

David, I’m sure that it will be presented to the other four (or is it five?) States as a problem to them. It seems to me that, at present, the world runs on fear instead of oil!

And fear is much more polluting than oil.

The making up of a fear around that, to the ill-informed and unintelligent, will no doubt cause concern. Until our net £10-12bn is divided by four or five at which point you realise that the extra share payable by France, Germany and the others is the sort of money that our large spending Departments in Whitehall ‘lose down the back of the sofa’.

In reality, it will be very small beer to them, too.

Luxembourg could be made to divvy up all that cash on their own from what they make out of eBay, PayPal, Amazon, Google, et al.

Don’t be too hasty, TT, wait until our Parliament ‘has had its say’.

If the vote is lost, what happens next will be the test whether the PM is wholly or partially for Remain or not.

It could just be that the PM wishes to arm herself with a rejection of the deal. That is mighty powerful weapon. If she is strong and courageous, she will return to Brussels, take the £39bn off the table and say “What is your best offer in the light of that vote?”.

If she folds and quits, or tries to bodge a repair or lets others in Parliament undermine Brexit, then you are right.

It will be a treason on our democracy.

I’d say she is a Remainer. Quibbling over the percentage doesn’t make a difference. The fact that she badly wanted to be PM doesn’t change that.
Brexit is a massive project. Essentially, a project of the heart. Her heart was never really in it, even though her head may have been (for opportunistic reasons).
I will not cease comparing her to Merkel. They are both opportunists; both have hijacked conservative parties to take those elsewhere; both are consumed by a lust for power (call it ‘service to country’ if you wish); both have known how to surf the PC wave; both know how to manipulate the media, because much of the media in both countries are also on the PC wave. Both have dampened the finger, and held it in the air and followed where they felt it to blow…
May has had by far the more challenging task. If she fails, it was because her heart wasn’t in it.
Being PM? Nope, her heart was in that.
          Doing Brexit? That’s the one…
          Yup: leopard– spots.

I’ve never despised a PM as much as I have her.

Just as Angela Merkel would have experienced the overwhelming power of a totalitarian State when growing up, our Prime Minister would (should) have experienced (if she was sharp & astute enough) the EU equivalent during her negotiations as PM if not before as a Senior Minister in Cameron’s administration.

I like the quote from the fictional President Bartlett (West Wing) that just happened to be broadcast by C4 – ironically – the day before a UK GE where Labour were re-elected despite an all time low turnout (2001).

“Decisions are made by those who show up.”

He was in fiction requoting an American President or Founding Father, but I cannot remember who, who I think said “Democracy is for those who show up.”.

TBH this law firm should not be able to practice Law so soon after being found stealimg tax payers money via the legal aid system… In May this year the Solicitors Regulation Authority .. Banned him from legal cases involving claims involving legal aid… Also cases which involve tax payers cash ( legal aid, and acting as a defence in criminal cases too.. ) Yet here he is six months later talking sh*t , and drooling at the prospect of the cash being donated tro a Go Fund Me Page, whose purpose is to provide the costs for all legal proceedings relating to the so called Waterboarding during which the Syrian endured nearly two seconds of getting wet from a small water bottle which was less than half full before and a quarter full after the harrowing ordeal… Who are these wankers who ignore the rape of 1400 girls but happily throw cash at this ?? Over £130,000 so far… Everything I was taught to believe in when I was growing up, such as history, morals, the difference between right and wrong and British values is now being destroyed, it`s like a bad dream which I cannot wake from…. The worst part is that recently the MSM has evolved from the arrogance of being unaccountable to ignorance of any views outside thier echo chamber… Also what happened to Theresa Mays` two week tour of the UK to gauge the publics` feelings on her Brexit deal?? So far I have seen her make two appearances at venues holding about 15 members of the public, one of which seemed to be an old peoples day centre !! Now she is in Argentina for a G20 summit meant for open debate and exchange of ideas relating to the Global economy.. Apparently though first thing she did was rush into a very private conference with the French, Spanish, German and two EU Representatives and nobody seems to know exactly why… No statements from any of them… The BBC are busying themselves using the Saudi Princes arrival to deflect attention to what our PM Treason May is doing as she attends clandestine meetings prior to the official start of the G20 summit… I was glad to hear that she i9s planning to reprimand the Saudis over a murder which has f*ck all to with us and also the use of UK supplied arms in Yemen which is resulting in the deaths of a militant Islamic affiliate of ISIS.. I`m assuming this will lead to possible financial burdens when they go elsewhere (Russia) which in turn will cost about 4.5 billion per year and the loss of 40% of sales in arms, and f*ck knows how many jobs too!! This current UK Government is corrupt, treacherous and dishonest to a degree which endangers our soveriegnty.. We are about to have our democratic will usurped by a woman who has no reason to protect our futures as she has no children and no reason to invest in the future of the UK… Also her husband us a top tier EU buerocrat who has spent his career slithering about between the EU buildings and also has no children or relatives to pass an inheritence to… Taking this into account I am at a loss when trying to see the motivation behind either ones actions… We need a `Cromwell` moment a Thatcher would not be able to cope with such a destructive Political danger to our right to exist as an Independant Nation State… The way the Cabinet has slowly changed into a remainers only office i9s a disgrace, remember all the names who vote for Mays `deal` All of them are Careerists, they are onl;y thinking of thier self interests, they have been bought and by supporting this so called Brexit they aim to steal your futures, those of your children and also any chance we have of getting out of a transitional period which according to the 585 page document is dated 20XX (2099) with the clause which allows for another undisclosed period made possible should any of the 276 EU states veto any part of the deals` 585 pages of abject surrender and the decision we made in 2016 to Leave the EU.. We voted and there were two answers… one question On the ballot paper there was not a 585 page proposal attached to it, I don`t remember getting asked more than one question when I voted… We should have le3ft as soon as the result was confirmed, as a net contributer and also a country with a trade deficit we had the upper hand in any trade talks with the EU.. Theresa May is a qualified Barrister and her husband is part of the ECHR in the Hague, as are most of her current cabinet.. Along with the civil service they have all set out wilfully and without any thought of consequence to destroy our freedoms, our futures and our ability to reverse thier sell out of the UK and its` people… It wouldn`t surprise me if the bitch hands over the Falklands and the Islanders on the way back from the G20 either…

Nobody outside of her inner circle seem to find her at all competant she is well known for her saocial awkwardness, and when you look at the way she repeats herself constantly and avoids being questioned about details relating to what is insider the 595 page `Deal` document which the EU has already signed off on before it has been subjected to a vote in our Parliament…. How can somebody fail at being a politician consistently yet end up as leader of our country?? Apparently he advises the PM and not at anytime did he warn her of the legal battles being organised by people who he knew from his profession…

An interesting slant on BBC bias involving Andrew Neil, who chooses to misrepresent a woman putting forward a left wing perspective.
The woman he is interviewing defends Democratic Socialism which, she claims, is distinct from Social Democracy, and she explains the difference to him. From her standpoint we should leave the EU.

But Neil deliberately reverses her distinction between Social Democracy and Democratic Socialism and speaks as if she is supporting Social Democracy, and proceeds with what can be described as a strawmanish argument against her objections to the EU. Clearly his objective is to defend the BBC commitment to the EU and therefore seeks to minimise any argument from the left.

I have included this clip to indicate how BBC bias works – against left or right opponents of BBC policy – and how Neil will twist and turn his opponents views to establish the BBC line, in this case support of the EU.

Actually, in this interview Neil looks stupid and Portillo is obliged to correct him.

If Neil wanted to attack Democratic Socialism from a conservative standpoint there are plenty of avenues for him. But he avoids this, choosing distortion and a straw man argument.

I was aware that the argument for socialist democracy is dire. But my point was to reveal Neil of the BBC as a biased creep who will distort any argument that opposes the BBC’s line on Remain. In fact the BBC has gone a long way to rubbish traditional leftist arguments that the EU are a bunch of evil capitalists.
But they will not come out against the left.
My overall argument is that Neil is a twister who will not confront an argument whether it comes from Tommy Robinson, Katie Hopkins or any Tony Bennite who wants out of the EU.

Yes I can agree with you on the extremists views.
It is something I have been thinking about as I read of Corbynite attacks on the BBC for being too right wing.
The bias of the BBC, so I think, is not strictly left or right, but is based on a few BBC objectives which in general happen to be leftish progressive but not necessarily. Islam, climate change, assisted suicide, various strands of feminism and gender issues, remaining etc are all promoted by BBC activists.
But occasionally are leftists whose views are distorted by the BBC, usually those around Labour Leave, who are not popular with the BBC.
Then we have Galloway who is conducting a war with the BBC from his left wing pro Islamic standpoint, and there is little doubt that BBC interviewers try to trick him rather than confront his odious views.

Times : Edward Lucas wrote ‘yeh we need to do something about all that Fakenews over there on Facebook’
..tiresome so I have only just checked
Similarly you can see from the comments that not many people read the article , but those that did give it a kicking , and he stays in the comments trying to defend himself.

    Top comment from @Maura
According to Mr Lucas “The limits of free speech on grounds such as racial hatred must be enforced online as well as in the real world” is very questionable and dangerous.

In several cases in recent years we have seen how police, social workers, journalists have been silent in the face of crimes committed by groups of men from particular minority ethnic groups, thereby allowing these criminals to continue their disgusting behaviour because of a PC culture. There are reports in this publication today relating to Rotherham.

A similar story occurred in Cologne on New Years Eve in 2015 when the main stream media did not report on the number of sexual assaults committed by men from certain parts of the world other than Germany. Only for social media, this information would not have been publicised.

On Page 25 of the Global Compact on Migration which is due to be signed on 10 Dec in Marrakesh there is a recommendation to “Establish mechanisms to prevent, detect and respond to racial, ethnic and religious profiling of migrants by public authorities” Does this mean that information which demonstrates that a particular group are disproportionately involved in certain crimes should be suppressed?

The reason I have used guarded language is because of censorship here and several of my comments have disappeared into thin air recently. I have seen other similar complaints here also.

Ah its a review of The Noble Liar: How and Why the BBC Distorts the News to Promote a Liberal Agenda by Robin Aitken

“The BBC has wholeheartedly thrown its lot in with the liberal reformers; there has been no ‘impartiality’ on any of the big moral issues of the past half-century. In every instance, the socially conservative argument has been depicted as callous, reactionary and dogmatic. Any counterargument to the prevailing liberal consensus is now ignored altogether; social conservative voices are conspicuous by their absence on mainstream current affairs programmes.”

(By fake news) “Trump wasn’t saying that the press and the TV networks were getting the facts wrong, rather, they were telling the wrong stories. (to make an overall false perspective)
And Trump had a good point: it’s a question of fairness, not facts.
A report can be accurate and yet deeply unfair whether by selection or omission.
‘Fake news’ is not so much about factual inaccuracy as about ideological bias…”

Stew – Reformers? No, to me that has a positive connotation. You reform something because you want to improve it. The beeb are destroyers, they break something of value down and besmirch it.
As for ‘liberal’? To me ‘liberal’ implies concern with freedom. There is nothing liberal about the beeb. It has confused freedom with licence, so morals, ethics, culture, the very stuff of decency, community and social cohesion has been badly damaged.
I would see the beeb, not as a liberal, reforming but as a socialist, destroying force, akin to what a mindless swarm of locusts do when they attack a field of crops.
For the rest, I agree with A’s article, but let’s not begin with complimentary language.

What if the turn out next time is lower ? What if remain win it but the number is less than the leave number in 2016 ? ( still with me?) .

The second part, together with its two votes which might include Remain, would become invalid if the vote was for Leave with No Deal.

We keep getting carney and hammonds predictions of the end of the world if we leave but where are the predictions of what might happen if we are stuck in the eu.

We are used to getting extra billions being demanded for things like the sex industry and other excuses to get at our money but what about if there’s some serious difficulties in Greece, Spain or Italy for example and they need many billions to bail them out. If we were still a member of that godforsaken club we would end up handing over many many billions, you can be sure of that.
When the eu Army is up and running how will our young people feel about being conscripted to serve in it.
Our payments to the eu are only going to go up so we will save even more by leaving.
What are our assets in the eu worth and are they being counted against their current demands for money we have to borrow to give them.
What is the £39 billion paying for anyway? Some pensions and what else?
We never get our amendments passed and are invariably voted against in the eu get togethers. When were we last on the winning side of an eu vote?
It’s a heavy price to pay considering only 5% of our firms export to the eu yet the other 95% must obey them in every way.
Where will the slowdown (supply chain) happen with our imports from the eu which will kill off our firms. We will not be stopping any more lorries than we do now so ‘just in time’ operators will not be affected (unless a lorry gets a puncture, is delayed by a couple of hours and the complete factory has to stop working, at least that’s the picture the remainers paint)
Maybe these ‘just in time’operators should build up a couple of days stock in case the driver takes a wrong turning or stops for a cup of tea causing the whole factory to shut down.
Or maybe they are lying about this.

We hear little from the leave side on the offensive and pointing out the horrors and dangers of staying in this dying club of dinosaurs.
Is it because we won and naively think our politicians will do as instructed.
Do we think we’ll get the no deal we all wanted if nothing happens before the 29 March.
Maybe we will but I wish our side started pointing out the downsides of still being stuck in the eu.

Consider now the UN Migration Pact to be signed very soon that will allow entry of any migrant from outside the EU no matter who they are-a number of Politicans in Germany are very concerned and so they should be. But more seriously our present Prime Minister who will sign this pact will be seen as instrumental in destroying her country and nation as a whole-again how much air time has been given over to this extremely serious issue? I want out without a deal although this provides no guarantee that the Pact won’t be signed.

Jeremy Vine on Friday was playing his frequent game of asking questions around a matter subject to legal restrictions, ‘so we can’t really talk about it’, (so don’t do it then!).

The subject was turned into one about bullying and whether bystanders should get involved. At first it seemed like the two guests, male and female agreed. The male was very much into collectivism and how much better the Scandinavians were in this respect.

For one Vine was quite smart and pushed the man into saying yes, it was ‘all Thatcher’s fault’, we were too much into looking after ‘number one’. We even got the false ‘no such thing as society’ quote!

This caused the female to break ranks. It isn’t the collectivists that stop bullying, it is the brave individual, the ‘Samaritan’, that does what the crowd doesn’t do.

The Twitter, Facebook and Antifa mobs show collectivism in action and it isn’t nice. The heroes and heroines have always been those that stood against the crowd.

Upto now it’s been plain dangerous . But as the big web providers such as google twitter Facebook and the rest have really got going on censoring – the danger will become really serious perhaps leading to mass international disobedience which I don’t think we ve really seen yet .

It also exposes those who are reactionary – notably that feature of being young – vulnerable ( word I hate but can’t think of a better one ) to all sorts of insanity -such as thinking the BBC isn’t biased .

Before it spreads to the more common parts of the European Dream, of course.

What us God-botherers remember – at least once a year with thankful hearts – is that God was bothered enough with His creation and the promise He had made way back in time to step in Himself and provide a means of redemption and renewal and restoration. 🙂

Plus we do like a bit of the music that can be made from vibrating and hitting inanimate things, the scientific means for which were built into creation and discovered, with a unique human inventiveness that may have echoes of the divine, which then support and enhance the human voice. 😉

Don’t know who the God Botherers are here. But it’s Advent, not Ramadamalinglong, and the music was sung by a young woman accompanied by men and women.

Moreover, I understand that the man who wrote it was alleged to be involved in scatology.

Our culture is derived from Christian sources but this in no way requires a commitment to literal pietism. Consequently we are allowed to refer to angels and angelic voices in descriptions of musical performances without bothering anyone to embrace a commitment to the existence or non existence of entities described in religious texts.

I found myself also admiring the work of the architects and any evidence of sound engineers present (rather limited, I was scouring my screen for mics and found only one – that may have been passive, purely for the recording) who both did a fine job in providing the acoustic characteristics of church & concert hall and enhancing each individual ‘voice’ in performance.

I have been following this young woman since she won a school competition at the age of 13. I have used her music in one of my canine videos on you tube. She took singing lessons and is emerging as a potential opera singer. She does not have the backing provided for big time BBC and Hollywood stars and in a sense we hope she will not go in that direction .

I see talented youngsters like this as an antidote to the cliched and over politicised tripe on the MSM, so I hope BBBC will accept this presentation of her with music from a secular Spaghetti Western, sung at the age of 13. (ps. I will spare you my canine performances)

The recording of Allegri’s Miserere from the Kings College Choir in 1964 had a programme made about it for the R4 series ‘Soul Music’ early on. It may have been in the very first series.

          Doesn’t bother me either, Fed.

Interestingly though, while atheists, God-botherers and all faiths except one, enjoy human creativity that performance of voice to music makes, there is also an interesting point about the Theory of Evolution.

Not so long ago, but back when the BBC educated, informed as well as tried to entertain, they had a research biologist (a scientist) on the TODAY Programme who had trawled the earth looking for animals that sing. He had found precious few by that time – I recall the figure was five – and he observed that it was really only humans who had developed musical instruments to accompany voice in some x thousands or millions of years. None had been added to the list in all that time. There is evidence that some apes bang items (and can be taught/trained to perform as can seals) and other animals bang the ground as a form of signal or alarm.

It is the human creature who stands alone at a pinnacle in creating music and musical instruments and has done for thousands of years.

The problem with that viewpoint is that it does not fit with the motivation.

If you read the Bible, you will discover the place of music in Creation and worship of the Divine, all the way back to the Shofar. For all their faults and sins, people like Mozart created music in worship of the Divine and for the worship, by others, of God, even if it was done as a form of contest with Amadeus and a measure of pride in Mozart’s case. 😉 The same was true again of architecture, although once more human ego came into it as well, perhaps reducing it somewhat.

I have a certain fondness for the work of JS Bach. He was most certainly motivated by his faith in God to produce music as a form of worship. If I recall correctly, GF Handel was exactly the same, as were many others of the older orchestral period.

Interestingly, scientists only recently discovered that they think the universe ‘sings’ or hums.

The BBC says Osamor has resigned due to ‘events concerning her son’ and ‘allegations’ from a newspaper. She was caught red handed lying about her knowledge of the conviction, saying she did not know about it when in fact she had written a mitigating letter to the judge. There is no ‘allegation’: she is bang to rights thanks to a freedom of information request.

Imagine the orgasmic joy they would have if Boris Johnson or another senior Tory were caught out like this: they would screech about ‘disgraceful lies’ and give it blanket coverage. Here they imply she has been hard done by and do not even mention the key offence she has committed.

It reminds me of Trump’s glorious exchange with John Sopel.

What kind of ‘remain’ do remainers want?
    The follow up could be….
Is it a United States of Europe ?
Could it be for the UK to join the Eurozone ?
    A European Army?
Continued failure to sign off the annual accounts?
Continuation of the entitled, unelected, untouchable Brussels elite ?
I wonder whether the public, were there to be a second referendum, would be given the choice amongst these options?

All of the above is firmly in the ‘do not ask’ part of the bBBC editorial handbook.

For many years I have – mostly my own opinion here – with great success brewed my own beer using grains and hops. Anyone here got a recipe for butter?
I can remember as kids we would, with Mum’s approval of course, use the “cream” from the top couple of inches of a bottle of milk and shake it in a container, obviously one with a stopper, and the liquid would eventually turn to a solid which we called “butter”. Edible? Well we thought so, and in the late 1940,s beggars weren’t choosers.

The bbc website factually reports the resignation from the Corbyn cabinet – of a labour mp for Edmonton -who was shadow something because of ‘newspaper stories’ concerning her son – a councillor for Harringey relating to convictions for drug possession ‘ supply .

But how low can the calibration of politicians go ? I’m waiting for “Thd politician of the Year” D.Lammy of the other neighbouring labour MP – D. Abbot – to make something of it – perhaps this one is even too much for them to play the eternal ‘race card ‘ – but I wouldn’t bet on it .

If you wiki Kate Osamora – the lady in question – or read what the Guardian says about what she was alleged to have done – you might expect her political career to be extinguished but the way things are going her lack of morality will take her a long way – job on the BBC perhaps …
