Start the Week thread 16 September 2019

Tuesday sees the start of the Supreme Court hearing on Prorogation. I’m guessing it will take a couple of days to hear with a result at the beginning of next week. The outcome may give the Bercow Party – which now has an ‘opposition ‘ majority of 48 – the opportunity to recall Parliament for yet more abuse of Democracy . I’m sure the BBC is enjoying every moment .

It is worrying that the hoards of third world economic migrants , terrorists and others will have to suffer in the back of lorries for a long time – because of Brexit .
Maybe Jo Swinson can take some of the comrades and provide some home comforts for the boys – as well as – of course – forms to apply for asylum , the address of a £awyer and an EU passport application .

Trump is firmly in the pockets of the Saudis as we saw after the appalling Khashoggi murder, and he will use the US military to line his pockets, just as most Western leaders will.

Boris doesn’t seem averse to accepting a few Rials either having allegedly had his palms greased with Iranian silver in the past.

Between Iran & Saudi I think I’d rather side with Iran. It’s people are far more Westernised and want to reject the horrors of Islam, it’s the Mullahs in charge who are the problem, not the people.

Again here it is entirely the fault of the CIA that the Shah lost power along with the French support for terrorism, that brought Khomenei to power.

More of interest is the accounts from British workers in the region who say that the damage is nowhere near as bad as the media are presenting it to be which again begs the question what exactly is going on.

          I’m reading reports that:
          1. Saudi Arabia is running out of oil
          2. Saudi Arabia needs an oil price of around $100/barrel just to keep their sorry excuse for a country functioning.

Could it be that the attack is designed to hide the fact that Saudi Arabia cannot pump out enough oil and also to push up the price of oil?

Based on everything else the governments and the lying MSM lie to us about, why should we believe the story they have constructed?

Yes, my disillusionment with Trump started with the Khashoggi murder and I believe his Saudi activity will contribute to his downfall. Iran is basically a civilised country and US intelligence could undermine the mullahs, whereas there is no hope that the Saudis will grow out of their barbaric beliefs and practices.

I don’t know the extent of damage to the Saudi oil supplies, but a drastic cut in their revenue might contribute to the return of our politicians and universities to Britain.

The US ‘intelligence’ is the most incompetent in the world. made up of insulated over privilidged white males it has a record of failure which is so extensive it cannot be considered as a realistic military intelligence organisation at all.

Did you know that the CIA started the feminist movement because it thought it would split Marxist groups on US campuses?

How many failed attempts did they make to remove Castro, not to mention that their laughable antics actually brought him to power.

Or the failures on 9/11 which they later did a great job of covering up on behalf of Saudi.

No the US CIA is a joke of an organisation. The only one which stands any realistic chance is the most competent Mossad, or perhaps the remains of the KGB.

Funny how every other British prime minister in history (including Boris Johnson) has come into office in much the same way, voted in via their constituents and then chosen by their party as leader.
Many from both main parties have done so (Alec Douglas-Home, Gordon Brown and Jim Callaghan, Theresa May) without first winning an election. It’s how our parliamentary systems works (or doesn’t now)
An unelected dictator who has yet to win a vote in parliament? António de Oliveira Salazar he is not.
Every parliament is prorogued ahead of a Queen’s Speech, he has not yet broken any law and, yes, the British people (or some of them) are cheering him on. Not that the BBC has noticed.

I am amazed at the new ways the BBC come up with to push audiences away. David Vance has highlighted on his second Thread yesterday how the BBC is losing audience share.

Fed, this morning I decided I wanted to listen to a Tweet of the Day repeat: Carry Akroyd and the Snipe. Why? I like snipe and encounter them occasionally on the Thames Estuary.

First thing BBC ask me to do is sign in. At the same time, they lie to me. “We will keep you signed in.”

        They never do.

Then the link will not play. The incompetent BBC’s incompetent software on the BBC incompetent server does not recognise that I have the latest Flash Player installed. I then have to refresh the page in order to play. Not a great effort but still a barrier to access.

Add up all the tiny barriers to access the BBC and after a while, a listener like me may say “Shan’t bother! Meh!!”

There are alternatives to filling time with BBC hassles and lies.

Here is the reason why the cowardly useless incompetent Tories are never going to privatise the BBC:

    Click to access report_accounts_2018.pdf

The pension shortfall has not been reduced in years and still stands at an eye watering £1.8 Billion.
If the Tories had any form of competence and a spine they would be forcing the BBC to reduce this through extra contributions and lump sum payments, but as usual they do nothing.

The government are never going to privatise a company with a pension shortfall this big and the BBC almost certainly knows this, and is using it as a bulwark to discourage any attempt to end the TV tax.

Postponed TWiTW Watch from Sunday. (Had a PC-free day yesterday, but I did listen to the Beeb for news.)

The World This Weekend (Sun BBC R4 1-1.30pm) was not presented by the usual BBC Chief Sneerleader, Mark Mardell, but by lowly BBC Correspondent, Ross Hawkins.

He did an excellent job and really asked tough and probing questions of two LibDem persons at the Party Conference in Bournemouth. He probed, he challenged, he questioned. The LibDems were shown to be totally vacuous intellectually and policy-wise to be on a collision course with the electorate.

Well done, Ross. You have shown up a few colleagues for what they are.

I hope you are all feeling very guilty. In fact, we should all be feeling very guilty.
On R4, Andrew Marr has put together one of his period giultfests, which starts with how bad the Gemans are (Nazism), to how bad the British are (Colonialism). The ‘Commonwealth’ is simply a little word invented to take the sting out of things.
This is the sort of thing Andrew absolutely loves.
Cos Bexit is coming into the picture. And there’s a phrase ‘Global Britain’ floating around. Apparently we are living through a period of great volatility. This is now the great buzzword designed to engender fear.
Andrew paints a picture of history, and the one person who gets a mention is Rory Stewart. Is that weird, or what?
Unlike the Dutch, who lost an Empire and learned to live ‘simply as Europeans’, Britain apparently hasn’t managed to do that.
It’s a little hard to figure out what conclusion Andrew arrives at, cos he’s sort of a bit all over the place. But he’s made his point. I think. Maybe.

The Spanish, Italians, Germans, French, Portuguese and Belgians also lost empires, some of them far, far more savage and totalitarian than the British – the level of force used to establish and maintain the Roman empire, for just one example, makes our worst efforts pale into insignificance – and yet we are the only nation to abase ourselves and apologise for what was, in essence, the greatest and most benevolent empire in history. Liberals, students and Guardian readers will no doubt fall to the ground in catatonic shock at the description but a very cursory knowledge of history – not as portrayed on the BBC – will show that what we created and left as a legacy has never been exceeded nor improved upon.
I should add that the living standards of modern Belgium – the French continue to travel there to appreciate fine dining for example – are predominantly based on the huge rape of the resources of the Congo, benefits taken without any attempt at reparation, improvement of living standards for the indigenous population or feelings of guilt for the savagery of their behaviour, and long before the establishment of the EU gravy train.

construction commences 2021 with sea trial set for 2023. And these are relatively small warships. Rather like each new motorway we build. Actual construction and use of years after vehicle number projections ensuring that once in operation, they are already wilfully under capacity. Assuming Brexit happens, and in light of middle east intransigence, we will need many many more ships to protect our fishermen and our sea going commercial interests.

I don’t think that analysing her comments serves any useful purpose because her problem is that she’s clearly exceptionally dim.

Most of the people who spout this stuff are, but they’re so used to going unchallenged that they seriously believe that they possess some deeper understanding of what is going on. They fall apart when challenged, which is why they invent spell words to silence people.

That Nanny McPhee woman has made similar comments. No deep thinker either. She’s guilty of the sort of prejudice she claims to be opposed to, but we all know how common that is.

Not sure I agree – anyone taking the BBC will have to get their timing right because I still think there is a strong ‘residue ‘ of people who – sadly – still think of it as ‘Auntie” and have affection for the monster .

It must be a ‘to do ‘ list for a future Conservative Government with a healthy majority – get us clean out of the ReichEU – then completely privatise the BBC – whilst reforming OFCOM and the whole regulation of media to ensure that there is not just one point of view and ‘attitude ‘ all the time .

When you think of it there isn’t a single moment in a week where a contrary view is aired by someone hired by the BBC .

And when the Tory/BP alliance have consolidated their new government, the net needs to be much wider than just the BBBC. In fact, Fox should be given access to some of the licence fee funding to create a right of centre news champion to serve the majority of the UK viewing public who are diametrically opposed to leftism and illiberal Marxism.

I start the day with Classic FM and then move the dial to LBC and Nick Ferrari. Now, to be honest, he ain’t up to much. You might see him on Sky’s ghastly debating prog’ The Pledge, where he plays the part of the lone “right winger”. A sort of pantomime villain. He’s really much more like a political weather balloon. He floats up and sees which way the wind is blowing and follows the prevailing breeze. So, fairly pathetic.
Today he interviewed Lib Dem leader Jo Swinson and his obsequiousness almost made me retch. God’s teeth, the great lard arse actually asked her about the shoes she likes to wear. Who gives a flying fxxxx?
They had a nice, affable chat. The sort of conversation women might have if they meet for a coffee.
This creature and her largely unelected party are trying to revoke the wishes of nearly seventeen and a half million of their countrymen. It’s clearly undemocratic and illiberal. It’s a bloody disgrace.
Ferrari, the tubby parasite, has even commented on Tommy Robinson calling himself a journalist. “He’s no more of a journalist than I am an astronaut”
Nick, journalists are supposed to ask awkward questions. They confront humbug and hypocrisy. They’re not employed to schmooze and placate the tender egos of the rich and famous.

Al Beeb’s consumer affairs programme on R4 today at 12.30ish had a representative of the millionaire Symington port dynasty complaining about the below cost price of red Douro wine in our supermarkets and the threat that was to the local way of life. It seems that port wine (which I love), same grapes different process, supports the local farming communities which may have to leave the land. The problem is the law (Portugese or EU?) which specifies that only a fixed percentage of the crop can be used for the expensive port.

Seems like a classic case of government/EU? interference in supply and demand. Doubtless it will lead to a call for more government/EU funding and no doubt Brussels will be eager to pay up…probably with OUR money as usual.

No comment from Al Beeb about market forces.

I quite like Douro reds and will now buy more if they are cheap but I’m just as happy to buy New World red wines of similar varieties which are equally good value, even before Brexit.

Chuka Umunna gets hospitality and payments (along with Grieve) from the Franco(French)-British Colloque and he also took a £50,000 donation from Farr Vinters Ltd, whose main business is, in their own words, “the purchase and sale of top Bordeaux wines” as well as “an in depth range of wines from other French regions including Burgundy, the Rhône and Loire valleys, Champagne and Alsace.”

I have to admit, I find the BBC drama Scarborough quite funny but even here you can see the work of the BBC diversity propaganda engineers at work.
It’s the two police officers, a male and a female who are both black. The male who is so camp that he makes Rylan Clark-Neal, soon to be seen in the revamped Supermarket Sweep, look like Charles Bronson.
Why do the BBC use mostly black actors in it’s dramas, why not asian or oriental ones? Only 3% of the UK population is black, concentrated largely in London and other large cities. Most of the country in fact is not very diverse, and if anything black actors are actually over represented in film and TV.
The same criteria applies to television commercials now. Why do over (well over) fifty percent of TV commercials have black or mixed race families with the man portrayed as a black, why not use actors from different ethnic backgrounds?

Why don’t brexiteers say this on tv more often.

There are 485 remainer MPs in Parliament.
The Brexit negotiations have been mainly done by remainers with little or no enthusiasm for any type of Brexit at all.

That is why no deal has been reached.

Many talking heads on tv are telling us we’ve been negotiating for over 3 years and are still getting nowhere.
It’s because remoaners are doing the negotiating.
As soon as somebody even a little bit on the leave side tries to negotiate they ‘go’ (Raab/Davis) or have their position greatly undermined like Boris and the removal of no deal.
