The Thirwall enquiry has identified many gross failings by the NHS regarding baby care associated with the Lucy Letby case.
I have been given privileged access to the NHS response.
1. A fulsome apology
2. Acceptance of the findings
3. Appoint various committees
4. Kick the whole thing into the long grass
5. Circle the wagons
6. Ensure no disciplinary action
7. Take almost no action.
8. Pull the wool over the public’s eyes
9. Get some friendly Labour MPs to remind everyone how marvellous the NHS is.
10. Forget the whole thing and carry on as before

From the 1970s to the early 1990s, tens of thousands of people were infected with hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV as a result of receiving infected blood or infected clotting factor products in the United Kingdom.[2] Many of the products were imported from the United States, and distributed to patients by the National Health Service.[3][4] Most recipients had haemophilia or had received a blood transfusion following childbirth or surgery.[5] More than 30,000 patients are estimated to have received contaminated blood, resulting in thousands of deaths.
Re. the Thirwell/Lucy Letby Inquiry. Although the inquiry was not supposed to be about Letby’s guilt or otherwise, the findings seem to focus on murdered babies. One can safely assume the inquiry was actually about Lucy Letby’s murder spree.
It has been generally recognised that conditions at the Countess of Chester hospital were far from ideal and the babies were generally very ill if not on intensive care.The babies were very vulnerable and general conditions at the hospital may well have accelerated their demise. Yet the inquiry hasn’t apparently looked at any other issues other than murder.
What is clear is that babies were dying and the management didn’t appear to be very concerned.
I am unsure if Letby is a murderer or a scapegoat. The inquiry probably ensures Letby will have no possibility of exoneration.
