The Boris deal is markedly better than the May one was. It doesn’t deliver everything we voted Leave for but it does deliver on sovereignty which was the key issue for me and many others. Remainer MPs must bitterly regret their over reach when they voted against the May deal which gave them much more of what they wanted. If they vote down this deal they will further expose themselves as against any form of Brexit at all , even one which the EU seems supportive of , and will pay a heavy price at the ballot box when the GE eventually comes.
Boris has significantly strengthened his hand at the GE whatever the clowns in the Remainer Alliance do in Parliament tomorrow.
Sadly this means that the old party system will be preserved. The Tories will win the election , Labour will be the main party of opposition together with the SNP and Lib Dem’s. In other words one wing of the liberal establishment is in power and the other wing in opposition. The drift leftwards will continue. Immigration form the third world will continue unabated and Islam will continue to prosper in the UK. Brexit will mean less and less as the years pass and Britain will continue to be consumed by mass migration with the willing participation of the liberal left establishment.
If we are to be saved from Islam our saviour will have to come from outside these islands.

Most, possibly all, Remoaner MPs voted to deploy article 50 and stood at the GE on a platform to honour the referendum result. But they never believed in what they were voting for, and in some cases have personal finanicial investments in the EU to protect.
Their barely concealed tactic to marry the two contradictory positions for these last 3 years has been to identify an endless list of any and every possible detail that they cannot support.
I confidently expect Soubry, Grieve, Ummuna, and the rest of the seditious remoaners to say in terms ‘when we agreed to leave we did not agree to any commas or full stops on page 127 of any agreed text’. That’s how they square their consciences.
The rest of us of course see them for what they truly are.

Not entirely in line with you Doublethinker on the question of ‘but it does deliver on sovereingnty,’ UK still to be governed by existing and new laws of the ECJ – a foreign court – and with no say over these laws. [WA articles 4, 87, 89 and 127, PD para 131] Not so certain as I once was having read the detail of this agreement, if you follow my entry below I think you will gather from it a different understanding-if this deal is rejected, then I just hope Boris Johnson still has the guts to get us out without a deal-otherwise we sink.

If the chap you quote is correct then i agree it is far from returning sovereignty. But can this really be believed? How could so many of the Spartans support it if it as your source says? I’m sceptical about what your source is saying.

          Tar,
Having rushed to try and get better triangulation on the negative details of the deal which you highlight I have to say that your source is echoed in several other reports . These are very very different to what the DT, Express and several prominent Spartans are reporting.
But if the Spartans are supporting it then it is highly unlikely that we will get anything better unless the TBP is in a majority in the HoC, something which isn’t on the cards at the next GE. After that Brexit May still be an issue but not to the exclusion of all others as it currently is.

We won’t hear this from the Biased BBC , but my feeling is that Boris and the other Tory ‘Leavers’ have cooked up a BRINO . I believe they have put the Tory Party before the country .
I also believe that they are deluded if they think that most of the true ‘leavers’ out there believe them -they will be shocked when the General Election comes around and most of those votes go to the Brexit Party (where else???).

  2. tarien says:

This detail is from a very reliable source and shows exactly what this nations unvoted for, affiliation with the EU is. May Mk2’ with the advice of a Brussels-based barrister.
Forget Westminster politics, is Boris’s new EU treaty Brexit? No, it’s not: 1. Parliament will not be sovereign – UK still to be governed by existing and new laws of the ECJ – a foreign court – and with no say over these laws. [WA articles 4, 87, 89 and 127, PD para 131]
    2. Demands payment of a sum to be decided by the EU – Minimum £39 billion but this is likely to increase and the EU decides the final sum. This must be paid BEFORE any trade deal is agreed. [WA articles 138-144, and 152-155]
    3. No trade deal with EU – Not included as this is just a divorce treaty. Any EU trade deal must ensure “a level playing field for open and fair competition” and “deep regulatory and customs cooperation”. This will make it difficult for the UK to reduce non-tariff barriers in trade deals with USA, Australia, China, etc. [PD paras 17 & 21]
    4. Prevents independent tax policy – Political Declaration still obliges UK to adopt a future relationship which will impose EU State Aid rules and “relevant tax matters” on the UK. EU specifically intends to curb UK’s ability to have “harmful tax practices”. Withdrawal Treaty also applies EU law to UK during transition period – allowing EU to sue UK, including infringement proceedings for as yet unidentified breaches of State Aid rules and billions in VAT on commodity derivative transactions dating back to 1970s. [PD para 77, WA articles 86, 93, 127].
    5. Restricts independent foreign policy – UK to be bound by international agreements concluded by the EU despite having no influence in their negotiation during the transition period and must “refrain, during the transition period, from any action… which is likely to be prejudicial” to the interests of the EU. [Articles 129(3) and (6)].
    6. Prevents independent military action – UK permanently stopped from taking “any action likely to conflict with or impede” EU’s foreign policies. Critical parts of section on foreign policy and security are not reciprocal, eg future relationship will not “prejudice the decision-making autonomy of the EU” but no such language for UK – only permitted to “maintain the right to determine how [to respond] to any invitation to participate in operations or missions”. Also, parties “agree to consider” security collaboration in European Defence Agency, European Defence Fund, and PESCO “to the extent possible under [EU law]” which is prescriptive (not permissive) obligation. Despite paying for European Defence Agency during transition, British troops in EU battlegroups will not be led by British staff officers. [WA articles 129(6-7) and 156-157, PD paras 99, 102(c)]
    7. Controls UK fishing – Common Fisheries Policy continues in UK waters during transition (which can be extended) but UK will have no say in implementation or enforcement. After transition, Political Declaration requires “cooperation on… regulation of fisheries, in a non-discriminatory manner” – code for continuing current arrangements for EU access to UK waters. Any trade deal to “ensure service providers and investors are treated in a non-discriminatory manner, including with regard to establishment” – prevents UK protecting quotas from EU purchase. [PD paras 29 and 72]
    8. Replaces one EU Commission with another – New body established with “powers equivalent to those of the European Commission”. UK must accept exclusive jurisdiction of Arbitration Panel and judgments of ECJ. Grants EU officials criminal immunity and exemption from UK tax. Imposes gagging order on UK which must keep all EU information confidential but EU can use UK information as it sees fit. [WA articles 74, 101, 104-5, 106-116, 159, 168, 174]
    9. Leaves UK with €500bn liabilities from EU Investment Bank but no profits – No rights to past and future profits made from UK investment in EIB, no rights to UK share of assets of EIB, yet UK remaining liable for risk of up to €500bn of guarantees. UK must let EU bid for UK public projects at least during transition. [WA articles 34, 75-78, 127, 143, 147, 150].
    10. EU colonisation – makes UK bystander in laws that govern it – UK permitted to send civil servant to Brussels to observe EU passing laws designed to disadvantage UK economy during transition which might last many years. EU could regulate London’s huge foreign exchange markets, impose financial transaction tax that would be collected at UK expense by HMRC but sent to foreign governments. [WA article 34]
As has been stated-Boris turned on the light and what was revealed – the ghost of Theresa May. Utterly so awful it defies all logic.
The outcome will be the same – rejection. The media can never get right.

In no sane world would this remotely be considered a ‘deal’. This is full blown capitulation. No wonder the EU are happy with it, they’ve got literally everything they could ever want.

Endless control, a blank cheque book from us muppets, our hands have been tied to prevent us signing any advantageous trade deals and basically seeking their permission before we do literally anything.

What an absolute joke. Any faith that I had in Boris has evaporated that he could put forward such an abomination of a deal/treaty.

What a coward, what a traitor, what a sellout.

Further to my comments about Douglas Murray’s terrific new
book ” The Madness of Crowds. ” where in three chapters he
writes about Gays, Race and Transgender. It has been apparent
for awhile now that the BBC’S obsession with the subjects
almost feels that they have a kind of morbid inverted homophobic,
racist, transphobic obsession , with the subjects.
The train has reached the station so far as Gay issues are
concerned BBC . We are as uninterested in the day to day
mundane lives of gay folk as heterosexual folk. Even if you the
BBC are obsessed with the topic. And gays such as Douglas Murray
feel the same. It is degrading to gays for a serious loss of life
to be put given the same news coverage as to a gay marriage.
As it is with race at the BBC. Tiger Woods and Serena Williams
are great athletes . But BBC it is insulting the intelligence of
its watchers, listeners and readers of ALL races to suggest
that they are the only athletes worth discussing ,when they
    are competing.
In tennis, golf, football, cricket rugby etc etc the train has arrived
BBC. Yes what happened in Sofia is despicable and is major
copy. But there are far far less late trains now than 20 years ago.
And where the “train” companies responsible were not
sanctioned years ago. They are more and more sanctioned now.
As for Trans issues. A friend of my daughter was at a
school meeting where the school had decided that it was the
right time to start teaching 6 year old children how normal it
was for them to have two mummies or two daddy’s as their
parents. Or that they were not just boys and girls but one of
    any 100 categories in between.
My daughters friend objected to this type of BBC education.
And the teacher explaining the curriculum was heard to
mutter “There is always one of them.”
I expect that at least 80% if not 95% of the parents of the six year old’s did really object , but were scared to say anything because
    they might be considered bigots.
We are now living in a western world that has gone mad in
its attitudes towards subjects that only a few years ago were
utterly and wrongly different. Politicians who once voted against
Gay Marriage , now call anybody who have any objection’s
for religious reasons, homophobic at a whim.
The BBC in this country is partly responsible for this madness ,
which has now morphed into the worse kind of insanity.
At first the BBC just run , now it gallops into diverse insanity!

Throughout mainstream entertainment the amount of gay and lesbian characters has become a joke. Off the top of my head in Coronation Street (ITV) I can think of 6 regular gay and lesbian characters, in no way representative of anywhere and it does more harm than good in diluting any positive messages. (As an aside, do you remember, oh, maybe 4 years ago, when you’d watch a crime thriller and you NEVER suspected whodunnit until it was revealed that one of the characters was gay. Wow, bomb dropped, I NEVER saw that coming!!! Nowadays I sit on the settee guesing correctly who is and isn’t heterosexual, surprise villains and motives are now dead to us).
back to the point, the casting of characters of different ethnicities to how the part was written/generally accepted must be embarrassing for the actors taking the part. They know they’re there PRIMARILY as a virtue signalling, box ticking exercise.
For those unaware of the Alex Cross books by James Patterson, they’re page turning crime thrillers starring 6ft 2inch black psychologist turned detective Alex Cross. He grew up from childhood with his best mate, John Sampson, a black detective even taller and musclier than Alex Cross. I’ve read lots of the books, I like the stories I like the characters. In the most recent film adaption of Alex Cross, his friend John Sampson was played by a white guy who looked to be about 5ft 9 inches tall. Why? Just Why??

We have steadily drifted from the principles of the 1st amendment in Britain and Europe for years now.

As a result, our comedy is dull. Our public debates sterile. Our national broadcaster unwatchable. No platforming in our Universities is endemic. The thought police are everywhere and should you deviate from the accepted narrative you’re labelled extreme.

This narrative is exemplified in our media, police, schools and even our NHS.

Our national choices over the last 30 years have been disastrous. Our nation is sinking fast. Our debt is huge, we have no national direction, no real democracy under FPTP, our children have no idea who they are; history is a dirty word now. To quote Peter Hitchens – ‘The new history of Britain will be written in Chinese’.

I haven’t checked to see if anyone else has reported this so apologies if I’m repeating something.

I received this email from Ezra Levant after attending the trial today of Tommy Robinson, to try to get him banned from attending football matches. These reporter rats disgust me; I’ve asked Ezra if he can divulge the name of this creature:

” I just got out of Tommy Robinson’s court hearing in Luton today, and I’m on my way back to Canada. But I had to send you a quick note to tell you about the most infuriating thing happened.

Just to recap — Tommy is being prosecuted by the government, again. They’re seeking to ban him from all football games in the UK. It’s lawfare, designed to wear Tommy down. It’s outrageous that police and prosecutors are spending their time on this, instead of solving the UK’s crime wave.

But back to today’s hearing. So there I was in the court, along with four other journalists. It was just a brief hearing to set up the ground rules for the trial ahead.

Click here for my short video recap.

One of the formalities was for Tommy’s full name, date of birth and home address to be read into the record. Except that Tommy’s home address has to remain private — he receives constant death threats, including from terrorists. So there was an application to tell the judge Tommy’s address privately — not to have it published to the world.

Tommy’s lawyers asked for this. And the prosecutor agreed. And so did the police.

Everyone knows that Tommy is in great danger, and his family too. And of course, Tommy’s home address has nothing at all to do with the case in question.

So the judge agreed to keep his home private.

But not before another journalist literally stood up in court and objected.

She stood up in court and demanded to have the right to publish Tommy’s address to the world.

I’m serious. She was actually pushing back on the judge.

She wasn’t there to report on the case. She was there to alter the case.

She wasn’t there as a neutral teller of facts. She was there as an adversary, an enemy.

    It was astonishing.

That’s the state of the UK media.

In the end, the judge ignored her. But I’ll never forget that moment.

That’s why I flew to the UK today. And that’s why I’ll be back on January 17th for the preliminary hearing, and again on March 24th for the main trial. It’s insane that there are so many court dates. But that’s part of it — it’s a nuisance suit to wear Tommy down.

Today’s outrageous conduct by the media reminded me of why it’s so critically important for me to be there.

Because you just can’t trust the British media to tell the truth about Tommy.”

    https://notalotofpeopleknowthat.wordpress.com/2019/07/19/bbc-meet-extinction-rebellion-to-discuss-editorial-coverage/

‘The nature of this hand in glove relationship is made clear, with the news from XR that yesterday they met BBC senior management to discuss the Climate and Ecological Emergency.’

    BBC meeting

The meeting, organised by Director General Sir Tony Hall, will examine the BBC’s approach to reporting on the crisis and how it can lead the way with a suitably urgent response. The BBC will be represented by Controller of Factual Commissioning Alison Kirkham; Head of Specialist Factual and Natural History Commissioning Tom McDonald; News & Current Affairs Editor James Stephenson; and Director of Editorial Policy and Standards David Jordan.

Representing Extinction Rebellion UK will be: Cofounder Dr Gail Bradbrook; Extinction Rebellion Youth Outreach and Logistics Coordinator Daze Aghaji; Media Tell The Truth Campaign Coordinators Jon Fuller and Donnachadh McCarthy; plus Media and Messaging Coordinator Ronan McNern.

Extinction Rebellion representative Daze Aghaji said: “The BBC has started making an attempt but we’re still nowhere near where we need to be in terms of reporting in the midst of this crisis. I urge the BBC to keep young people and our future in their minds as they think about programming. We must show integrity in the face of the climate crisis, together we must tell the truth about this emergency now.”

Apparently, an ER protester climbed the scaffolding around Big Ben, dressed as Boris Johnson, to protest about government inaction on climate change. Oh, for god’s sake! We seem to be drowning in a sea of infantile adults. Get these stupid people off our streets and give them therapy. The world might well be warming, as it has done many times in the past, but we are not going to die because of it. If they expect doomsday then let them all climb the nearest mountain and wait for it, whilst the rest of us get on with our lives. When their predicted zero hour has come and gone, and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse have not materialised to reap havoc, then they can all come down from their high moral ground, get back to their comfortable middle class lives, and jobs, and, if they have nothing better to do, they can invent other ogres to scare their children with. (Eagerly assisted by the BBC, of course.)

As a maker of science documentaries, this isn’t something that has troubled me much. Sure, I’ve discussed it at dinner parties (after Brexit and before the need to become an interstellar species) but being able to foresee the next move of the POTUS had been on the back burner professionally. That was until I started making Stargazing: Moon Landing Special for BBC2, when being an ‘expert’ in American constitutional law became bizarrely critical”
      assume that was Helen Thomas

from Rob Liddell – series producer/director
“Part of the charm of Stargazing has always been that it is a live show – it helps create energy and gives the programme a unique tone. So one of our biggest challenges was how to maintain its style and tone in a pre-recorded format. We decided to think of the show as if it were live, an approach that affected every aspect of production.”

so,my take – numpties led by numpties in a live/kinda cool show for the kids.

Brandon Lewis quietly explains the deal. Relative silence. David Lammy has only to start off saying; “This is a shockingly bad deal.” Thunderous applause, and roars of approval. No waiting to hear why, even.
Where are we with R4 and a fair-sounding Chris Mason?
At a university, of course, Reading, to be exact. Where else would you find mindless morons, who are not even interest in hearing the argument. “I’d rather go to jail than approve this deal,” says Lammy. Quite right David. Go where you belong.
But David has more to draw thunderous applause to draw. He will vote for the deal if it’s attached to a second referendum. One suspects that, were a second referendum to vote ‘leave’ again, David would tell us with a load, roaring voice that he has changed his mind, because it ‘would not be in the interests of his constituents’ to leave.
There is also a Green party person. You can imagine, so I’ll say no more.
Oh dear, someone has mentioned racism in sport and Lammy is first to answer. This should be fun. Give an arsonist a box of matches…

U2S….Shockingly dishonest….CA had nothing to do with the referendum…the data it took [legitimately under then Facebook rules] was for the US elections and absolutely nothing to do with the UK. It also had little to do with Trump who used data from a company also used by the Democrats….CA was a fringe side-show for Trump and probably had little to no influence on the US election.

The Codswallop lies on this and Leave.EU, Vote Leave and Darren Grimes have all been comprehensively trashed…and yet the BBC continues to peddle them…not just here but you can hear the same lines still being pushed on their other programmes.

This sentence from the Guardian sums up the BBC coverage of the last two days trying to pin the blame for any voting down of the Brexit deal on the DUP [and the ERG of course]….‘The DUP is again proving the fly in the Brexit ointment, but it should not be allowed to decide who rules Britain’.

So that’ll be 10 DUP MPs holding the country to ransom then? Why has the BBC been constantly asking why the DUP should have a ‘veto’ on the deal? The DUP doesn’t have a veto on it, they have 10 votes…why does the BBC forget the 245 Labour, 35 SNP, 19 Libdem, 35 independents, the 5 ‘The Independent Group for Change’ MPs who in the main may vote against the deal? How is it that 10 DUP votes are the problem and not the 339 or so votes from other parties that might go against the deal?

It looks like the BBC has a narrative to spin and it is attempting to blame the DUP for any failure of the deal…despite Corbyn’s long term default position having been that Labour would oppose any deal whatsoever hoping to press for an election [political opportunism aside]. The BBC has never exposed Corbyn for what he is, a cynical gameplayer whose only concern is to get his feet into No10…he doesn’t give a damn about Brexit, the damage to British national interests by causing chaos with his games..and yet the BBC gives him a free pass and doesn’t challenge him on this.

And let’s just remember what the BBC told us, again and again and again…

    1. The EU will never, ever renegotiate the deal.

    2. That Boris is untrustworthy, a liar…he did not want a deal at all…it was all a sham.

    3. That it is all too complicated, there is no way at all that a deal could be negotiated in the time…it’s all magic thinking, unicorns and pie in the sky.

Why you can trust BBC News

The BBC’s journalism is about as credible and trustworthy as this statement that it links to at the bottom of every news page…

‘The BBC is recognised by audiences in the UK and around the world as a provider of news that you can trust. Our website, like our TV and radio services, strives for journalism that is accurate, impartial, independent and fair.

Our editorial values say: “The trust that our audience has in all our content underpins everything that we do. We are independent, impartial and honest. We are committed to achieving the highest standards of accuracy and impartiality and strive to avoid knowingly or materially misleading our audiences.

“Our commitment to impartiality is at the heart of that relationship of trust. In all our output we will treat every subject with an impartiality that reflects the full range of views. We will consider all the relevant facts fairly and with an open mind.”‘
