Two in a row, will I ever make it three
Could it be possible, the end of the Fee
Will it ever end, the dreadful Telly Tax
Could it be possible MPs will stiffen their backs
And make this the year of a manifesto pledge
To remove the fear, the inevitable dread
Of an expense that causes an all round shiver
While the BBC sells the Tory government down the river

Dreadful doggerel, but in particular the last line is a long way from scanning. You seem well qualified to be Poet Laureate.

Cheers Fred, just as long as Snuffy doesn’t have to go trans and become Gillian (Duffy) in order to become Poet Laureate. Yes, it is awful doggerel and as well as not ‘scanning’ at the end (I was getting a bit tired) it may not scan in the middle or, at least, doesn’t rhyme well in the middle.

If it is any consolation, the PL is paid via a case of booze, cannot remember whether its wine, port or sherry, but I will be happy to share ‘the salary’ with regular posters here. ;-

While taxes rise for us mugs, even as we try to recover from unnecessary lockdowns, the Sunak PM has the gall to send even more of our money to the corrupt Ukranian government, and even more to the corrupt Climate Change scam.

PM Meloni blasts France’s ‘exploitation’ of African countries on live TV

        And in more detail

France Exposed – Exploitation of West and Central Africa Continues Way Beyond Colonial Times

But it falls far short of the full extent of French post-colonial exploitation.
The so-called Central Banks of the West African Francophone former colonies – Mauritania, Senegal, Mali (formerly French Sudan), Guinea (formerly French Guinea), Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso (formerly Upper Volta) , Benin (formerly Dahomey) and Niger – and of the former Central African colonies – Central African Republic – CAR (former Oubangui-Chari); Chad; Gabon; and the Republic of Congo (former Middle Congo) – are just shadow institutions

And it it is not just France, Belgium and Scandinavia exploiting Africa; the UK has exploited the Phillipines to the point of turning their ‘best in the world’ healthcare system into something that is inferior to our NHS. I had a very interesting conversation with a fairly senior UK nurse, from the Phillipines originally, some years ago. She only saw her husband and child for a few weeks every year, if I recall correctly, if not it was every other year.

Disgraceful and a shame on our NHS.

Another arson attack on a Cathedral in France. The BBC aren’t even slightly interested. Perhaps they’re waiting to be sure it wasn’t one of their friends from – ahem – a certain other religion.

Decriminalise TV Tax? Be careful what you wish for.
At the moment having a TV without having a licence is a criminal offence. To be convicted of a criminal offence the level of proof required is beyond reasonable doubt. Coupled with that the gathering of evidence and handling of a criminal case has to be beyond reproach.

So the offence is decriminalised. This will mean that the “offender” will be subject to Civil procedures in the County Court. An invoice will be issued for non compliance similar in nature to parking charge notices and it will then be incumbent on the victim to prove they don’t owe the money. Theoretically everyone in the Country could be billed. It won’t be just a licence fee that would be claimed for, there would also be costs and penalties.I’m sure that Crapita would be delighted

No. It isn’t illegal to own or watch a TV. It does depend on what you watch though, as you say. What I meant of course was that watching live TV, as defined in legislation, is illegal and is subject to criminal sanction.
Decriminalisation will make things much easier for the BBC and Capita.

You only need a TV Licence to watch BBC ‘live’ broadcasts or iPlayer now that the BBC have welshed on the original agreement for their iPlayer services.

An Asian theatre group says it won’t perform in Sheffield cos the venue dares to host another show in another month that this Asian group doesn’t like.

FFS performers have no right to dictate a venues editorial policy
It’s upto a venue who they book, they shouldn’t be blackmailed by other performers

“Miss Saigon has highly problematic narrative and portrayal of the Vietnam War and Vietnamese people.”
It sparked anger when it first opened in London’s West End in 1989, with white actors playing Vietnamese parts.
It has continued to face criticism for depicting the war solely from a white and Western perspective.”

Yes that story is about 6 weeks old
The story is the establishment actually admitting it for once
However even tho Mo was the #1 name
There weren’t actually many boys given that name
cos there are a huge variety of names among boys
Mo being #1 doesn’t mean that a large proportion of boys have that name
I think it was 1% or something.

      • JohnC says:

The name is significant not because of the numbers but of why it was chosen.

        It means:
From the Arabic Hamid, meaning “praised” and “praiser of God”.

Here’s how the Channel-4 fact checker justifies it:

‘And there is a simple explanation for this: while the world’s Muslims have many good qualities, being imaginative about boys’ names isn’t one of them.’

Wrong Channel-4 ‘fact checker’. ‘Imagination’ has nothing whatsoever to do with it. They choose that name because their religion means more to them than their own preferences.

And that is the problem I have with it being at the top of the list. It’s taking us back to the stone age.

It seems the BBC are relaxing their rules about presenters having a political opinion. Even football commentators. Lineker has no place using the BBC as a soapbox for his own political opinions.

And of course politics should be kept out of sport. Particularly at the BBC.

If nobody clips his ears, I mean wings, they will have pushed the limit to what they know they can get away with just a little bit more.

Lineker is going to make a move into politics soon, I can tell. And he’ll have his chums at the BBC right behind him.

Just reading this story and I’ve been thinking for a while how I’m surprised there aren’t more people cracking and doing such things in the USA.

The Democrats have absolutely divided the country down the middle with things like impeaching Trump 3 times, their extreme treatment of the Jan-06 riots, forcing BLM and it’s absolutely racist agenda down our throats and statements from Biden calling every Trump supporter a threat to democracy. I have been amazed at how all the midterm election results are like 51% to 49%. The country is utterly polarised between Left and Right.

We are living in a perfect storm at the moment. I would not be surprised at all if it degenerated into civil war.

In 2016, the suspect – then known as Nicholas F. Brink – petitioned a Texas court to change his name, though it remains unclear why.
        https://edition.cnn.com/2022/11/21/us/anderson-lee-aldrich-colorado-springs-shooting-suspect/index.html

Aldrich was arrested in June 2021 in connection with a bomb threat which led to a standoff at his mother’s home, according to a news release from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office at the time and his mother’s former landlord. Colorado Springs is in El Paso County.

Aldrich is the grandson of outgoing California Assemblyman Randy Voepel, according to social media reports and CNN interviews.

Voepel, who has served as a state lawmaker since 2016, lost his re-election bid earlier this month. He could not be reached for comment. It’s unclear how much Voepel, the father of Aldrich’s mother, interacted with his grandson.

“This is Lexington and Concord. First shots fired against tyranny,” he said, according to The San Diego Union Tribune. “Tyranny will follow in the aftermath of the Biden swear in on January 20th.”

The hottest new thing since air fryers edition

Like that toothless poisonous old gypsy one met in a country lane and in all innocence crossed somehow, our corporate globalist Financial Times delivers, from the very bottom of its black heart those worst imaginable sweary old curses on Brexit Britain: Only Russia will perform worse than the UK in next two years, OECD warns – and may all your shop-bought plastic clothes pegs rot and forever fail dropping all your clean washing to the ground and casting your undies to the four winds of climate change.

Meanwhile the FT seems keen to contain the big crypto ponzi scheme scandal to the responsibilty of just the one villain: FTX chief ran crypto group as his fiefdom, court hears… Bankman-Fried spending revealed – if the FT lead report dare mention those links from major Democrat Party donor FTX, via Ukraine, back to the Democrat Party and to Biden, then it’s buried very deep in the small print.

The Sun lauds: Hero to the throne… King presents Sun award to brave doctor… A heroic doctor who saved countless lives in Ukraine was honoured with a Sun Who Cares Wins award in a jaw-dropping surprise presenation by King Charles – nice… all very laudable… just imagine the personal dangers and discomforts of working in a warzone, especially for this female doctor of a certain age… (more of that notion later)… but how about our saw-bones set about delivering some of that heroic healthcare over here in the UK?

‘For a few minutes you enter their lives and it’s really tough’ – the Guardian there quoting Dr Kamilia Hawthorne, Royal College of GPs

I’m oddly reminded of that long-running BBC TV show that brought us graphic footage from the surgical theatre – Your Life in Their Hands – not something for those with a faint heart or weak stomach, mind you – some wag amusingly referred to it as Their Hands in Your Life

Anyway, the Gruan is keen to align the quacks with the rest of our bolshi public sector against the Tories – and perhaps remembering how Labour stuffed their mouths with gold they don’t take much persuading: Doctor’s warning: poverty forcing sick people to keep going to work – one would have thought some physical activity could often be good for your health?

Fears cost of living impact is leaving GPs’ surgeries stretched (Guardian) – if all these patients are forced by poverty to keep working, how come they’re hanging around the GPs’ surgeries?

Menopausal NHS staff can work from home… Women may be given lighter duties as health chief urges other employers to follow suit (Telegraph) – don’t worry about that, luvs – the police will be sure to follow suit. Police bosses are right on message, they have already received the memo and have bought the T-shirt – or should that be the menopause vest?: Met terror chief wears ‘hot flush vest’ to understand the menopause (Daily Mail)

The vest is a black, high-necked bodywarmer that simulates the hot flushes that affect more than half of menopausal women. It weighs perhaps 2 lb and contains heating pads as well as red and black wires leading to a battery. It is programmed to warm itself to a roasting 45c, in waves that travel from the waist to the neck (Daily Mail) – cheaper than central heating this winter? I’m interested. How long do the batteries last?

I remember using the alarm in my office, and it was the ‘bell chime’, which would come on whenever.

One day, I found an old bloke in the office peering out of the window, and saying that he never knew there was a church nearby, and he’d worked here for ages…

I didn’t tell him because he was a silly old fart.

I could drive up the M2, get a call on the fixed car phone, (remember them), answer the call, swear softly, open the Psion one-handed, switch on the overhead light in the car, scroll through the contacts, get the number, punch it in the phone, number by number, close the Psion, and complete the call in about ten minutes and without bashing into anyone else on the motorway!

If I’d been smoking, I’d have also lit a pipeful of Gold Block, which I’d have filled a few miles back, (both hands, steering by knees), and was savouring for the M2 bit around Dartford, where all the chavs join the road and beat everyone up driving their Ford Fiestas.

I’d also have been listening to ‘Cinema Show’ by Genesis…

God, I’m glad I don’t work any more!

“Some people say”, “the BBC has learnt” (take your pick), that some Civil Servants in the Home Office are complaining that those new members of staff recruited to deal with the illegal invasion alongside them have no experience. I read this differently. What they (“some people”) have complained about is that, they, probably immigrants themselves (Civil Service = > 20% immigrants), are objecting to newcomers doing things by the book and rejecting too many illegal invaders.

Implanted Marxists the lot of them.

It doesn’t need a dustpan and brush to clear them out, it needs a heavy duty vacuum.

The BBC push any Africa agenda item to the hilt. I often wonder how many utterly gullible Lefty cretins they have writing them.

    Here’s an example:

‘A bag that would have once been used to carry shopping has now been transformed into a fashionable garment’

No it hasn’t. And that’s not a bag anyway : it’s brand new plastic sheet and not recycled at all. It still has the fold marks.
Good old BBC : always ready to lie when it suits them.

And here’s the author – fresh from the ‘young attractive female’ clone factory to identify with the youngsters. She’s an apprentice being given a big-break on the BBC front page (at license fee payers expense):

India census: Half of homes have phones but no toilets
      https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-17362837

Nearly half of India’s 1.2 billion people have no toilet at home, but more people own a mobile phone, according to the latest census data.

Only 46.9% of the 246.6 million households have lavatories while 49.8% defecate in the open. The remaining 3.2% use public toilets.

Census 2011 data on houses, household amenities and assets reveal that 63.2% of homes have a telephone.

Analysts say the data show the complex contradictions of the Indian system.

I remembered reading a story about an interview with Soros which gave me an insight into the true, conscience-free nature of the man. Eventually I found it (using Duck Duck Go as I gave up trying with google).

Kroft: “My understanding is that you went . . . went out, in fact, and helped in the confiscation of property from the Jews.”

        Soros: “Yes, that’s right. Yes.”

Kroft: “I mean, that’s — that sounds like an experience that would send lots of people to the psychiatric couch for many, many years. Was it difficult?”

Soros: “Not, not at all. Not at all. Maybe as a child you don’t . . . you don’t see the connection. But it was — it created no — no problem at all.”

        Kroft: “No feeling of guilt?”

        Soros: “No.”

Kroft: “For example, that, ‘I’m Jewish, and here I am, watching these people go. I could just as easily be these, I should be there.’ None of that?”

Soros: “Well, of course . . . I could be on the other side or I could be the one from whom the thing is being taken away. But there was no sense that I shouldn’t be there, because that was — well, actually, in a funny way, it’s just like in the markets — that if I weren’t there — of course, I wasn’t doing it, but somebody else would — would — would be taking it away anyhow. And it was the — whether I was there or not, I was only a spectator, the property was being taken away. So the — I had no role in taking away that property. So I had no sense of guilt.”

What became more interesting to me than finding the article was discovering how HARD it was to find. No matter what search words I use, I got reams and reams of Leftist sites telling me quite clearly Soros did not help the Nazis. Wikipedia for example hides it behing the sentence ‘the official took Soros with him while completing an inventory of a Jewish family’s confiscated estate. ‘.
