    h/t from sickipedia.

Tory party chairman Nadhim Zahawi has claimed that errors with his taxes were ‘careless, not deliberate’.

    Yeah, I can sympathise.

Like that time last year when I accidentally set up a shell company in the Cayman Islands, lent it my entire year’s income in the form of shares, failed to repay it and wrote the lot off as a tax loss before selling the shares back to myself for a quid. Could happen to anyone.

Zahawi – Iraqi born. Says it all to me.

This scenario is likely to be played out in another 30/40 years time, when the UK has a government comprising of today’s Channel people, who will stand at the Despatch Box saying ” I came to this country claiming asylum, and was welcomed……….blah blah blah”. Corrupt, corrupt, corrupt. Yep, I’m a dinosaur, but if you’re name ain’t Smith or Jones I don’t trust you.

“Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association chairman Adrien Berry said: ‘It is hard to see how he first passed the judicial exams and then why it has taken so long for his lack of knowledge to be exposed.”

When you give people special privilege above the law, you get no law and 1400 raped and tortured children over 16 years … ‘In August 2014 the Jay report concluded that at least 1,400 children, most of them white girls aged 11–15, had been sexually abused in Rotherham between 1997 and 2013 by predominantly British-Pakistani men.’

He’s Kurdish, his family fled Saddam Hussein’s regime, he has risen to be Chancellor of the Exchequer, oversaw the vaccine roll-out, is a Brexiteer, and is chair of the Conservative Party – not good enough for you though is it. There’s a name for people like you, and it isn’t dinosaur.

Went round our local supermarket here in North Western France, there was no shortage of anything, no empty shelves whatsoever. As for public transport, there is none anyway in rural areas, apart from school buses. Local chief fireman lives down our lane, saw him going to work this morning.

The supermarket shortages are in the US not France, however we are being told nothing of either of these these issues in the UK

Hi Thoughtful, I can only speak for the supermarkets in South Florida, but our local Publix, Whole foods and Trader Joes are fully stocked. People are moaning about higher costs especially eggs but there don’t appear to be any shortages of anything.

Today the BBC journalists Michael Keohan and Colin Campbell released a shocking report on the channel crossings. It showed people smugglers selling their wares brazenly in the migrant camps and many children living in unsafe and dangerous conditions, as well as—this is breathtaking—a free French public bus service that migrants can use to travel directly from the camps to the Dunkirk departure beaches. Will my right hon. Friend allow a statement on the issue of tackling the small boat crossings and the Government’s response in their work with France?

I would be more worried about this statistic. Apparently, about 67,000 civilians were killed by the axis forces in WW2. The UK Government has killed more than this number over the last two years. Now that is a little more concerning I would say. At the beginning of this month, excess deaths are running at 30 percent. The rate is increasing.

Not BBC but an incredible level of politically correct woke on ITV, sadly on one of my favourites, Vera.

At the centre of the plot. Two mixed race marriages. Both have teenage daughters. The daughters are in a ( albeit gentle) lesbian relatinship.

What are the chances of that in the real lives of viewers?
    Infinitesimally small.
    But on TV. Very high.

PS the subsequent news bulletin was of course presented by a BAME.

    Absolutely incredible.

Just listened to Lord Peter Lilley on Mark Dolan on GB News. He said the scientists were calling for lockdowns for political rather than scientific reasons. All credit to Mark Dolan who let him speak. Had it been the BBC they would have felt they had their headline and shut him up. Of course it would have been twisted by the BBC to produce a headline stating that a senior Tory was antivax or some such like.

At least some admit the BBC is corrupt as this quote clearly proves the political elite – ‘back scratching’ bias. (thanks Thoughtfull and Stewgreen):
        (quote from above link)
The BBC has a long tradition of politically connected individuals acting in senior roles. Gavyn Davies, another former Goldman Sachs banker, chaired the corporation between 2001 and 2004, faced accusations of cronyism from opposition parties (as he was married to Sue Nye, adviser to Gordon Brown when he was chancellor), and had previously been a Labour Party member. Greg Dyke, director-general at about the same period, had donated £50,000 to Labour.

        Who would have thought it?

That red labour mouth -Lucy Powell – pops up with Tourette’s -“resign resign “ yaps Lucy – showing that the quality of red labour politicians is no better than the other lot . Although the other lot have bigger snouts and bigger troughs .

As a Luke warm anorak – I love those political scandals like Zandowi Gate ©️ where the chancellor had to pay a fine to his own tax authority over dodgy dealing – and then going silent hoping he will still get his peerage / knighthood at the end of it ( he will – it’s bought and paid for).

There is also the ‘integrity / professionalism ‘ line the green card PM came out with after the coup . You can guarantee neither will be present in such a regime ….

Apparently the British are now welfare junkies – with 50% taking in tax money ( welfare ) but not making contribution . The blame is placed with the Chinese virus but I’d put it at the door of the blue labour number 10- and the likes of the BBC always pushing for more state funding of particular groups .

The times carried a piece by the retired tax chap who sniffed out Zahawhi gate ©️ by going through companies house records .
I believe we are in one of those familiar situations where a senior politician has sinned and the PM has supported him and will try to continue to support him .

I only really care about this corruption because said politician was chancellor at the time and could not see that his tax situation invalidated his occupation of that job . If he had any honoured he’d be long gone .

Zahowi was pretty active in using his lawyers to try to muzzle anyone looking at his affairs – which also leaves a bad taste .

At the moment Zahowi is trying to blame his dad – who allegedly lives somewhere like Syria . It seems some journos have tried to track him down – if he exists – and failed to find him ….that’s the father of the chairman of the Tory party !

I have never lived in the USA but I went there many times for work and a few holidays . Most of the visits were to rural Tennessee or Kentucky . My US colleagues used to find my nervousness around guns quite funny ,I didn’t like to be near them.
My aversion was deeply engrained from childhood I simply was never near a gun and was told that they were dangerous . What you told and learn in childhood is difficult to unlearn as it were , it sticks with you. If children are taught Wokism then getting them to see it’s rubbish later in life is going to be very hard. If most of their generation think in a similar way it’s going to be even harder. Rolling back the Wokist tide is going to take a long time and God knows what the world looks like when it finally recedes .

Faced with the awkward situation of a Tory scandal story forcing a glaring self-reference, our BBC online press summary lifts an alternate intialism, beginning with the letter B, into its own review headline this morning: Newspaper headlines: Johnson loan claims and ‘BGT pay war’

In stark contrast that ex-PM Johnson loan claims report is splashed across the giveaway Metro frontpage spelling out, in the very boldest of bold type: Boris Bank Chum unashamedly emphasising the three initial letters of the phrase – I hear the BBC pay top dollar for new logo designs: BBC splashes out £7MILLION on new logos as over-75s are forced to pay licence fee (Express) – what value the freesheet Metro’s innovative redition of B.B.C.?

The corporate advertiser’s – and perhaps our national inevitable political – direction of travel is clear in the sub-header: Tories hit by sleaze storm

Just random bad political weather or some sort of systematic political climate change? Left-wing man-made anti-conservative global warming – if you will?

Lest the Beeb be tarred indelibly with the Tory brush… losing its right-on credentials…

The left-leaning ‘i’ newspaper comes to the rescue: Cronyism row ‘disaster’ for BBC may push staff to strike – happily realigning our nationalised broadcaster with the rest of our restive public sector workers

BGT, you ask? For a moment there one dyslexically imagined our BBC boys and girls referred to a cost of living crisis involving the bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich

Don’t laugh, even the price of the humble green pea makes frontpage news today – they’re not all frozen, you know: Taking the peas… Fury at price rises… Tesco boss hits out at big hikes (Daily Star)

As tabloid readers are assumed to recognise at a glance, BGT means Britain’s Got Talent – we’ve a shortage of energy, a bust economy, failing public services, creaking infrastructure – but apparently we’ve got showbiz talent – yet even thereabouts there’s a pay dispute: BGT pay war… Amanda & Alesha won’t sign deals over Bruno cash (The Sun)

Here’s a new twist on the notion of the sexist pay gap: Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon are refusing to sign contracts in a pay row over Bruno Tonioli. The long-serving pair are furious that the newcomer’s salary matches their own – said to be £850,000 (Sun)

Celebs, eh? Social justice warriors the lot of them – apparently.

ITV could have bought Boris for less…

Sunak to rule on former boss over £800,00 loan deal – that’s the Telegraph’s typo (not mine this time) leaving a zero off the figure but we know what they meant to say

But blimey, misplacing a decimal point in that manner when writing an important document could get the best of us into a whole lot of trouble: Mr Zahawi paid a penalty to HMRC over unpaid tax while he was chancellor. He has described the error as “careless and not deliberate” (BBC)

The Tories may have their minds on other matters – like supposed pandemics, wars and climate change (and lining their own pockets) the Daily Mail meanwhile notices the plight of the squeezed middle: Shocking rise of ‘something for nothing Britain’ Over half of households get more from State than they pay in tax… while top 10% of earners account for 53% of all income

They still don’t get it – shrieks the openly Labour-supporting Daily Mirror implying stuffed shirt Sir Keir would serve us all better.

Let’s parse the Mirror’s arguments, their: Useful guide for Tories – before passing on…

But, wow, pause for a moment to take in the innovation of pictures of two ethnic miscreants banded about frontpage…

Zahawi, our anti-Boris coup interim chancellor, is advised: Earn money? Pay your taxes – gosh, but there’s the lefty notion of a way of life for you – what a mantra – you live to be taxed

Sunak they have on the lesser charge of: Using a car? Wear a seatbelt – ‘elf ‘n’ safety, innit. Sorry, Karen.

BoJo is cautioned: Need a loan? Go to a bank – have you tried to even find a bank still open on your high street lately?

A full-on BBC spectacular to greet me this morning.

First we have the now-standard relentless day-after-day headline attacking another Conservative.

I have no time for Zahawi but it’s another BBC assasination attempt : use their power to make the pressure so intense, he has to resign to stop it.

Then I see the Californian gun-man story is in the lower sub-panes instead of right at the top. A quick check shows why : I am certain the BBC are very disappointed it wasn’t some whitey with a far-right facebook page.

Then I see ‘Cold weather triggers money-off energy scheme’ with yet another example of BBC racist discrimination with a bizarre picture of a black woman loading the washing machine while using her mobile phone:
    _128381320_gettyimages-1302002006.jpg.webp

And while I am looking at those I see:
Russia: Putin’s Kremlin targets LGBT in new crackdown
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-64345693

Not sure how they think the Kremlin is Putins and more than they would say ‘Biden’s Whitehouse’ but anyway.

This article is an absolute classic BBC agenda piece steeped in empathy and ‘victimhood’. We are supposed to think that Putin is Hitler banning Jews but in fact I realised the law is to “propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations” so it’s still OK to be LGBTQWERTYUIOP+, you just can’t shout about it in others faces.

This article is a relatively new BBC method to lie : pick one or two totally biased people then report whatever they say. It allows all kinds of outrageous agenda-based claims to be printed by the BBC with no fact-checking or any balance because someone else said it.

Maybe not ban it, but I too would welcome a vast reduction in the relentless propaganda we get from the likes of the BBC for this 0.3% of the population.

And within that story I read:

“The war is lost, the economy is destroyed, and the authorities need to show people what they have risked their lives for,” says Piotr. “And the best idea they have is to find a new scapegoat – LGBT people.”

What absolute nonsense. How come it’s always ‘me me me’. And the astute observer will wonder why we are sending our best over there and why there is so much pressure being placed on Germany to send their best as well. Sounds to me like Russia are winning.

This is why I feel, of a long list, the media are the greatest threat to democracy.

It has always be flawed; every knew it.

And almost all pols are in it for less than noble reasons; everyone knew it too.

You just tried to choose the least worst to muddle the country through.

But to do that you relied on a spread of media to properly hold all of them to account, properly, professionally and impartially.

    This no longer happens.

Our screens are filled with the most ideologically suitable media chums saying one thing one day and another the next, actively promoted just to get them in.

This is a new form of journalism that is beyond pathetic.

I may have read that in The Critic Magazine, a source tells me.

The media are supposed to be a check-and-balance for politicians and are an essential part of a real deomcracy.

When the media become as partisan as it has now, democracy dies. Can you imagine what the result of the referendum might have been if the MSM were not so biased ?. Or who would be President in the USA if virtually ALL the MSM were not sure violently anti-Trump ?.

Once the ideological driven Left get enough power, they turn into fascists and start to enforce their own beliefs on everybody else. They are doing that now – especially at the BBC. They have done it throughout history and usually with disastrous consequences.

Ah yeah….Craig Oliver on speed-dial at Today….for some reason, lol, the goto-man for comment on all Tory problems…today Zahawi and Richarp Sharp.

Sharp’s appointment….a murky business, bad faith, bad judgement…..we must end the government appointing the BBC Chair……nothing unfaithful about the ex-BBC-lapdog is there? Still doing their dirty work for them it seems…as he also tells us Zahawi must go.

Oliver slipped into the Tory machine and was able to influence direction no doubt….and gather information as well….didn’t take him long to rush out a book did it? A book, ‘Unleashing Demons: The Inside Story of Brexit’, clearly coming from the BBC Remain viewpoint, in which he trashed Boris and all who backed Brexit, and of course Brexit itself.

Things he continues to do to this day….which is why he is on that speed-dial to the BBC.

Either your tax affairs are confidential or they are not. Why should taxpayers be subject to some left wing Civil Servant shit deciding to make someone’s affairs public. Where does that philosophy stop? As I’ve already pointed out all businesses arrange their tax affairs to minimise tax payable, quite legally. HMRC regularly challenge tax arrangements, sometimes they go to Court and HMRC win or lose, more regularly taxpayers cave in and decide not to go to Court in the face of HMRC’s unlimited resources.

      https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/news/hull-east-yorkshire-news/tempers-flare-far-right-groups-8031152
.. Do you think that was accurate ?

Tensions have risen between two protest groups demonstrating in Queen Victoria Square, resulting in a heavy police presence.
The demonstration on Saturday afternoon was scheduled by
the far-right hate group Patriotic Alternative to protest the plans to house asylum seekers in The Lawns in Cottingham – which have already been quashed by Hull University.
In response to the rally, antiracism and antifascist counter-protesters staged their own demonstration opposite them in Queen Victoria Square.

Humberside Police said no arrests had been made as of 3pm but protesters were seen confronting police officers and heard swearing. .. Wow adults swearing at a protest , wow !
So there were NOT two righty groups fighting each other
There was ONE group PA which wouldn’t call itself a HATE group
and the Labour front groups which call themselves anti-racist anti-fascist .. and yet act very totalitarian and hatey

Oh later the article does mention “Other groups such as The North Unites, and individuals against immigration and refugees also joined the protest.”

Failing Prevent counter-terror scheme ‘needs a major overhaul’ after report found huge gaps in the programme
A report by William Shawcross has found gaps in counter-terrorism programme
Government’s Prevent scheme is intended to combat Islamism and other threats
Review found taxpayers’ money went to groups promoting Islamist extremism

The Scottish Mail on Sunday · 22 Jan 2023
          https://www.pressreader.com/uk/the-scottish-mail-on-sunday/20230122/282205130010994

MUSLIM extremists who threaten people they accuse of blasphemy must be targeted by counter-terrorism operatives, a landmark Government report will recommend.
Tackling so-called ‘blasphemy violence’ will be a key recommendation in the longawaited report on Prevent, the Government’s flagship counter-terrorism programme, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.
In Islam, it is considered blasphemy to depict the Prophet Muhammad or any members of his close family – and among hardliners, the punishment for such an act is death.
The report, by former Charity Commission chief William Shawcross, will urge Prevent teams to tackle imams and Muslim leaders who accuse teachers, writers and others of blasphemy.
It is the first time that an official Prevent report will identify Islamic ‘blasphemy violence’ as an extremist problem in Britain.
A teacher at Batley Grammar School in West Yorkshire had to go into hiding with his family after he showed his class drawings of the Prophet Muhammad in 2021. The incident led to weeks of protests outside the school, spurred on by hardline imams. The teacher is still in hiding.

The overhaul of Prevent has been delayed by ‘woke’ civil servants who have objected to suspected extremists being named in the Shawcross report.

Mr Shawcross will recommend that Prevent goes back to its core principle of stopping individuals becoming terrorists, and not be an ‘arm of social services’.
He will also say that those prone to extremism are no longer referred to as ‘vulnerable’, but ‘susceptible’. A source said: ‘This is important, as “vulnerable” implies being a passive victim.’
It will also be recommended that Border Force, immigration and Job Centre staff be added to the list of those required to report to Prevent someone they suspect of harbouring extreme views.
‘Prevent should not be part of social services.’

Anne Marie Waters always highlighted the problem of this ‘blasphemy’ nonsense.

Have you noticed that every time somebody or organisation is caught out, whether it’s £millions not paid in tax, thousands (or more) of votes missing, misinformation on, for example, vaccine related deaths, statistics and just about every other news item that later reports it as an ‘error’ it’s always one side (the left) who this ‘error’ was good for. It also works for any ‘errors’ the rich make.

It’s never somebody made an error of paying £5 million too much tax.
It’s never over reporting the number of deaths caused by the vaccine.
‘Errors’ counting votes always are in favour of the left (when they get found out)

Of course, when the truth comes out, the earlier lie is round the world and a tiny correction on page 35 below the funeral plan advert does little or nothing as the harm is done.

Its Freeview TV channels are awash with CASH. (BBC Worldwide Limited).

Lets take the BBC Favorite sponsor and retainer ‘STONEWALL’. Its a nice cosy corner, of mutual milking the public finances. No finance cuts here! They claim Human Rights!!!!
    —–
This week, TPA research revealed that public bodies are continuing to dole out taxpayer cash to the lobby group Stonewall. Membership of the controversial ‘Diversity Champions’ scheme cost taxpayers at least >b>£709,225in 2021-22 with Stonewall receiving over £1,221,222 from the public purse!

These shocking sums come after government departments were pushed to leave the scheme in May 2021 by then foreign secretary, Liz Truss. In spite of this, the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office renewed their membership of the scheme for another year in October 2021 and the Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs are still members.

On top of the money spent on the Diversity Champions scheme and various events, Stonewall received £403,395 through grants from public bodies. The devolved administrations were the worst offenders when it came to splashing the cash via grants on Stonewall. The Welsh government paid out £168,870 and the Scottish Government handed over £99,917!

TAXPAYERS ALLIANCE highlight the wast of our UK public bodies. The (BBC is a public finded body despitesits ‘corporate’ name its a QUANGO as it des not pay TAX – just like STONEWALL).

The BBC have introdced (reported today – Monday – on TALK radio) a new LGBSXYZ correspondent and a new climate change apocalypse ‘expert’ on TV (and no doubt BBC local radio) whilst claiming they are still ‘independent’ and ‘bias free’.
Perversions on the BBC are a well known known fact, sexual mis-practice abound, known fact, financial irregularity, known fact and that it helps fund ‘Stonewal’ campaignsl via little known BBC sponsored charities and its links to the (infamous) TAVISTOCK clinic (transgenderism for children), is known fact and has been closed. Not so in Scotland (yet).

STONEWALL diversity champion (its mission is now complete). They have made it lawful, to sexualise each other and children – whilst claiming to be gender neutral as if its OK to take drugs fr life and dress as if. Jimmy Saville a serial abuser may have ‘died’ but his memory lives on. He abused both Boys and Girls.

And yet the BBC claim they are media independent and free for criticism thanks to its (unique) TV Charter . They justify arresting those that refuse to pay for it. BBC links to STONEWALL are still there, they never went away.

Apropos the upcoming crowning in Westminster Abbey. 3 days of merriment and feasting, with entertainment by an array of “A listers” which strikes terror in my heart.

What now defines an “A lister” ? I ask because at the recent opening of an ultra lux hotel in Dubai, the headliner was Beyonce (ok if you 19 I suppose) with a payday of £19 million for 73 minutes.

By the by, it was the reporting of A lister attendees that caught my eye, and the reporter listed one Mark Wright – a one time reality person who did a spot of presenting, and his wife Michelle Keegan a mini drama actress. So make of that what you will.

To my geriatric mind there is absolutely no-one on this planet anymore that I would cross the road to see (personal choice), let alone call them A list, but for the event in May there are the same old lags like Rod Stewart, god forbid the Spice Girls, Brian May, and Elton John if can find his way to the piano – these are A listers who are pencilled in. I suppose Tom Cruise will be hauled over for a sprinkling of star dust, and monologues from the likes of Ian McKellan….. I will be watching Netflix.

Sadly there are no real stars anymore that can compare with the cream of the crop that was Judy Garland, Sinatra, Danny Kaye, Howard Keel, Barbra Streisand – though the 3 Tenors would definitely be worth a listen. Real entertainers are no more.

Wonder when Sadiq will suggest that in London.

We are sitting on huge energy sources of , coal, gas, and oil, but because of “nut nut” and the Carbon Blob tax we are fast becoming a third world country led by “third world” leaders.
Its time that this government began to govern in the interest of the people of Great Britain.

When North Sea gas and oil was discovered in the 70’s we were told that old age pensioners would get free energy , now pensioners can’t afford to heat their homes while illegal invader’s get free heating as they languish in hotels paid by for by us . Is this what the Tories meant meant by “levelling up” ?

I’m pretty convinced that I know exactly what the BBC are up to with the relentless attacks and insinuations against Tory MP’s

They figure that this puts the Government in a sticky place with any attempt to defund the BBC. They will be able to howl about the Government taking revenge and thus acting irresponsibly.

This message of course will gain traction with a lot of the public who have sucked up all the BBC’s fanciful imaginings. Corrupt Tories. etc. etc. and be persuaded that the government is trying to close the BBC down to protect their own positions.

Results in a view of the BBC as a valiant protector of the people under threat from a shady bunch of angry Tory MP’s

    Stinks.

I would like to recommend to all my fellow site users a recent episode of So What You Are Saying Is on the New Culture Forum Website featuring John O’Sullivan who gives a good tour d’horizon of politics in the West and particularly the UK.

One of his key themes is that there has been a loss of control by ordinary voters of the society they live in. Government has been taken over by bureaucrats and democracy has been badly damaged. Recovery from this by democratic means will be a long haul.

You hit the nail on the head with that one about a loss of control by ordinary voters.

Over the life cycle of a V117-4.2 MW wind power plant, it will return 50 times more energy back to society than it consumed. That means that when 1 kWh is invested in a wind energy solution, you get 50 kWh in return. For coal, however, if you invest 1kWh you typically get below 0.4 kWh in return.3 days ago

In terms of durability, wind turbines last an average of about 25 years. About 85 percent of turbine component materials—such as steel, copper wire, electronics, and gearing—can be recycled or reused.30 Oct 2020

MarkyMark – that wind arithmetic is arse backwards. Electricity is a utility – it’s expected to be there 24/7 when you flick a switch.

Ignoring the utility aspect of grid electricity is simply moronic.

That’s how they always phrase it which is like a BBC headline : convoluted because it’s hiding something.

I tried to find out how much such a turbine cost to make + what it got in subsidies over it’s life compared to the value of the electricity it produced.

I presumed the reason I could not find any such information meant it cost a lot more than it made.
