Start the week 13 February 2023

Apparently there is dismay at the BBC about the appointment of the Chairman . The Chairman was , apparently , involved in financial dealings with Prime Minister Boris Johnson prior to appointment . There is no suggestion of corruption of course – and no rules were broken . But politicians make the rules …anything undermining the Far Left BBC is good for us eh?

9pm Channel4 Guy Martin Asks how Are We Going to Keep The Lights on ?
TV land is controlled by our WokeSupremacist and GreenSupremacist masters so Green hysteria is what I expect

The show opens with guy blowing up Eggborough coal power station
While the commentary goes on about the end of dirty coal
(that is narrative rather than true, cos coal could theoretically be clean and low CO2)
Then he talks about his home
Loaded with kit like a 20KVA generator , Air Source heat pump
    Talk about £176/year to boil a kettle 10 times/day
Yeh we don’t boil it that many times probably 3
(And I think he means a full full kettle each time)

    Then at Drax
They just used a speeded up clip of a coal power station
That makes the smoke look blacker

Guy “This just shows that we can’t rely on solar and wind”
He means the way you can turn Drax up when you want
but wind and solar are not only uncontrollable they drop off at random moments .

Now on to Drax Carbon Capture Storage scheme CCS
They haven’t mentioned that no one in the world has made this economic so far

      Drax spends mega on PR
but this prog isn’t a full advert of them

Guy is now talking about powering his van HVO (H Veg Oil) instead of diesel
costs 40p per litre more, it creates “90% less CO2”,
… Em That’s not true.. it emits the same
.. but you discount 90% claiming the growth of veg oil on the farm sucks CO2 OUT of the air

Bit about repairing the grid cables

Part 4 actual part where he blows up Eggborough

Irony when Eggborough Power station was blown up on 1 August 2021
that set the scene for high UK gas prices
Crazy political stunts like UKgove and Surgeon blowing up COAL power stations drive high gas prices
World gas sellers kept higher prices
cos they knew UK had less options

Previously gas sellers knew we’d use coal if they didn’t give a lower gas price.

Next episode about Solar/Wind is already up

          Guy Martin is tellystruck …

He has wasted any credibility he might have had at some stage by his obvious credulity and inability to do joined up thinking – people who drive fast … I mean look at Lewis Hamilton…

I’m sure TV producers find him quite compliant key talent.

What was wrong with having a test card when there wasn’t anything of import to report and the well of entertainment talent had run a bit dry?

The impending energy crunch must be obvious to even the dimbos at the BBC – so as usual, they are CYA-ing …

Across Central Europe, companies are clear-cutting forests and grinding up centuries-old trees in the name of renewable energy. Pellets are shipped across Western Europe, helping countries reach their renewable-power commitments. None of this is illegal — in fact, it’s encouraged by green-energy subsidies.7 Sept 2022

      Stew
You’ve just reminded me of the largely forgotten and (surprise surprise) rarely mentioned EU Large Combustion Plants Directive.

Which required coal power stations to massively reduce their emissions of things like Sulphur Dioxide and thus put a huge extra production cost on power stations. Many resolved not to continue and the closures of the 2010s bear witness.

The result was the over-reliance on gas.
And here we are in 2023 and global gas prices are where they are, and domestic energy prices are where they are.

Another triumph for the EU. One strangely absent from the relentless ‘eat or heat cost of living crisis’ BBC coverage.

I’m happy that you get to go first at the top of a new Thread, Stew. You deserve it! Ah, I see you’ve deleted your post. I was not asleep, I was busy making a coffee and then researching another post:

BBC WEB-SITE Watch #2 – another clear case of BBC bias?

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-64514162
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-64514162
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/skateboarding/64618204

A clear case of BBC misandry at work, I think. Especially when you check the final link I post above. You find that it may have been an event limited to women. Certainly any male competitors from the UK are not mentioned.

Then the second link is quite untrue. There is no gender barrier in motorsport and even F1. Never has been.

I have spectated when Lella Lombardi, Davina Galicia and Desire Wilson raced in F1. Across the Atlantic in Indy Car racing Janet Guthrie achieved a ninth place finish at the Indy 500 Memorial Day race in 1978. Danica Patrick has done even better than Guthrie at the MD race. Women have won races in NASCAR racing and I have a notion the same applies to CART Racing, ie. racing at circuits other than Indianapolis on MD.

There is, of course, a gender barrier in boxing. I wonder why?

    The BBC is biased.

Off-topic alert for everyone else, with my apologies.

Re. the observations about female racers. It’s worth doing a bit of digging about a driver of whom you may never have heard, and who was genuinely brilliant – Lorraine Peck. She was a 16-year-old kart racer who was killed in 1975, the year after finishing 2nd in the Junior World Karting Cup. She seemed clearly destined for much greater things (her father had already bought her a Chevron for moving into Formula Atlantic) , and when I was in that world in the mid-70s, she was simply a star. No “..for a girl” riders. Just outstanding by any measure. And is still talked about today.

      For example:-

Worth looking at the list of names in the Overall Results sheet pictured on that FB page. For those who know about that world, there are some big names in there.

Guy Martin taking a look at the UK electricity sector.

There are a lot of people who will be furious at his common sense conclusions.

Basically fossil fuel is the only realistic way to sustain our current energy useage and therefore almost every aspect of our lives.

Stop fossil fuel as he puts it and you will have to throw away your kettle, your electric car, your home heating system and it goes on.

No doubt Guy will now be in the cross hairs of the green nutter maniacs so expect him to be cancelled any time soon.

It’s become pretty clear that the civil service are on a mission to help create a socialist utopia by using every trick they can to smear the conservatives.

They are also working as supplier of unfounded fairy tales to the left media and in particular the BBC.

When other countries back in history reached a point where the publicly appointed class decided that they were no longer employees but political activists it usually ended up in violence.

In fact this process was honed to perfection by Hitler causing the creation of the Nazi party and the dismantling of all opposition and all the hell that followed. Like these people, he had little regard for the ballot box, preferring to undermine and dismantle any opposition to his extreme views.

In my view, the passing of ANY information to third parties, including the press without official permission by any employee in the public sector, and especially within critical roles in the civil service should be a sacking if not criminal offence regardless of who it may be designed to damage.

Call me old fashioned but we have gone collectively mad, where someone is referred to as the opposite sex just because they have ‘lived as’ that sex for a few months. They could get around this by not giving a sex at all, just a name and age – because if the sex isn’t going to match what most of people assume it means, why state it? Unless political motive etc, which in this case would be abhorrent.

A FEW days ago, you took the commentator Darren Grimes to task for what you called ‘misinformation’ on the electricity system, and you speculated that he might be paid to disseminate falsehoods in the media.

It’s probably best to draw a veil over the more conspiratorial aspects of your thinking. However, some of the other things you said suggest that your own understanding of the facts of the energy system is a little shaky. This article is intended to put you right. I hope you find it useful.

Let’s start with the good news. You say that energy bills have gone up ‘because they are determined by the most expensive of the various sources that generate the electricity’. This is true. However, you go on to draw some entirely unfounded conclusions when you say that ‘if we had already decarbonised our energy generation, your bills would be lower’.

Your mental model of the electricity system seems to be based on two underlying assumptions.

      · It’s cheaper to get electricity from renewables than from gas-fired power stations.

      · We can completely decarbonise our electricity system so that (low-priced – or so you assume) renewables become the most expensive generator on the system.

“You seem to hold out hope that scientists will come up with a way to solve this conundrum. To that I would observe that going ahead with any project, but particularly one as vast as Net Zero, while simply hoping that any technical hurdles will be solved along the way, is an extraordinary gamble – as one wag put it, ‘it’s like jumping out of an aeroplane and hoping someone invents the parachute before you hit the ground’. Moreover, as I have pointed out, storage only adds cost. So even the best imaginable battery technology wouldn’t take us below the cost of offshore wind, which appears to be stuck at around £125 per megawatt hour at present. That means a poverty-stricken future for our children.”

Twitter users claim #EdStone is now on show at a posh London restaurant.

A stone tablet bearing former Labour leader Ed Miliband’s pledges from the 2015 general election has been photographed in the outdoor area of the Ivy Chelsea Garden in London.

The original was last seen at a warehouse in Woolwich in 2015 and was thought to have been destroyed.

But people at the restaurant spotted a remarkably similar tablet – also with six promises on it.

The stone is partially hidden among leaves and plants in the outdoor dining area but also has the title – “A Better Plan. A Better Future”.

TOADY Watch #1 – but it isn’t true, is it, BBC?

    1. The weather is mild (via Met Office)
    2. Unemployment is at a record low

Neither claim is true but we hear them regularly repeated on BBC R4, the former for the last week, the latter in the first half hour of TOADY this morning. If we had record low unemployment, unemployment would be below 350,000 as it was in the 1960s. According to my sums it is still at around 1.3million but cannot be certain because the ONS and the BBC misleading report the figure as a percentage.

You would think that journalistic curiosity at the BBC would make the BBC send a journalist to the Office for National Statistics to find out the size of the UK workforce. I think we can safely say unemployment is still at least three times the record 1960s low figure.

    Three-sider battle royale edition

There’s also something of a home and away theme to today’s news stories.

Here, very much on home territory, the Mirror frets over our very own: NHS Heroes’ Long Covid agony… as they fight for fair pay – a few isolated cases, surely?

Up to 10,000 workers face losing their jobs as callous Tories cut support… Nurse Brenda Eadie, 45, has already lost her job due to Long Covid – but if she is too sick to work, then… we should keep her on the NHS payroll? Even if she’s now all but on life support – as the Mirror frontpage pic suggests.

I suppose it is now our patriotic duty to endlessly support certain left-leaning national institutions, fail as they might.

Call the Midwife renewed for two more series, BBC confirms (BBC)

The Mirror today talks to nurses with horrendous symptoms who say they caught the virus at work – but surely to goodness during that former pandemic of ours, within the NHS of all places, they were suitably masked up and properly injected with the wonder vax to the absolute max?

Oh well, I suppose we have to take the Mirror’s word for it that the covid ain’t over yet.

Here’s a thing, novel sicknesses and pandemics tend to follow periods of warfare – The first recorded outbreak of syphilis in Europe occurred in 1494/1495 in Naples, Italy, during a French invasion. Because it was spread by returning French troops, the disease was known as “French disease” (Thank you Wiki) and of course there’s the Spanish Flu that ravaged Europe in 1919 following the Great War of 1914-18

However, the novel largely media-carried pandemic of our recent times actually came to an end with the outbreak of a war in Ukraine – funny that.

We said this was a day of home and away stories. As our NHS limps on regardless on costly seemingly perpetual life support – a sort of role reversal – we the UK patients must save the life of our NHS – with generous emergency injections of our life-saving taxes: Hero medics saving lives of quake victims (Daily Express) – nice to know the medical profession is doing some good for someone somewhere.

Closer to home… and away matches… The Telegraph covers the Six Nations on its cover: England can do better, says Borthwick – tell me about it, as they say.

The BBC – sort of – covered the three nations tussel that went on up there on Merseyside (Liverpudlians v Police v Migrants) yesterday with a very roundabout report headlined: Asylum protests: Teen charged over Knowsley disorder – if you read that one (past tense) on the BBC online news homepage in the blink of an eye before it went missing and could glean any notion of the course of events then you’re a better man than I am, Gunga Din.

A 3-minute clip on You Tube from GB News aired the phone clip that sparked the aggro and explained the story rather better than our national broadcaster – the BBC report on this three-sider match up, battle royale, all-in tag, narrative wrestling grudge match was constructed to read more arse-about-face than a trade mark Jeremy Bowen Israeli retaliation to Palestinian provocation tale.

Foreign Office Minister Andrew Mitchell has condemned the violence and said the government was seeking to limit the “excessive use” of asylum hotels. (BBC) – Leo Kearse (one of the UK’s few openly right wing comedians) on the GB News review cut to the chase for us and suggested the government welcomes them right next door to those Guardian readers who say they what them in this country.

Four held over rape… Four Afghan boys who arrived in Britain in small boats last year have been arrested in connection with the rape of a 15-year-old girl in Dover (Times) – allegedly – meaning allegedly their age is under 18

The Tories have allowed the building of multiple powder kegs across the country.

    Shotgun wedding?

Who are these Tories? They’re no conservatives, that’s for sure: Welby: MPs threatened me over gay marriage… sounds dodgy “… I was summoned twice to Parliament, and threatened with parliamentary action to force same-sex marriage on us, called in England equal marriage” (Telegraph) – Mr AsI calls it a pantomine.

    Equal rights, not sacred rights.

Surely one can criticise a manager for favouring white players or favouring black players

It’s similar to the case of the Leicester guy
He’s a bit crazy (now sectioned) he went down to protest against the BBC who were WORKING in a public street, (illegally in my opinion since everyone else was obeying Covid laws)
And the BBC upgraded the charges to racism on him quoting when he shouted at the entire team “Go Back to where you came from” and they knew it wasn’t racist
They then never held to that or showed up in court
I think he was later sectioned for something else

The BBC should have had security, who could have told him continuous shouting isn’t protest it is something that stops them going about their everyday job.

Danegeld (/ˈdeɪnɡɛld/;[1] “Danish tax”, literally “Dane yield” or tribute) was a tax raised to pay tribute or protection money to the Viking raiders to save a land from being ravaged. It was called the geld or gafol in eleventh-century sources. It was characteristic of royal policy in both England and Francia during the ninth through eleventh centuries, collected both as tributary, to buy off the attackers, and as stipendiary, to pay the defensive forces. The term danegeld did not appear until the late eleventh century. In Anglo-Saxon England tribute payments to the Danes was known as gafol and the levy raised to support the standing army, for the defense of the realm, was known as heregeld (army-tax).

What’s more they only really have two items of actual local news ( car crash and school ) the rest being the usual left biased stories ( pawnbroker and childcare costs ) let alone making out a meteorite was the most important local news.

They should be reported to Ofcom for hiding the most important item of news and hence trying to change the truth of the narrative.
