Because “Grant Shapps” (or whatever his name is this week) lives in the Westminster bubble, he probably has no idea of how widely despised Bill Gates is. The man is utter scum. Ask his ex-wife if you don’t believe me. His “friendship” with Epstein was the last straw for that relationship.

    Or:

“Counter-terror police thwarted eight ‘late-stage’ horror plots in Britain last year

The force believes that Islamist extremism and Islamist terrorism is still the biggest threat to the UK. However, he warned there was an “unprecedented threat” from foreign enemy states including Russia, China and Iran who may have links to criminal gangs in the UK.

“We know the interests of some state organisations include kidnap, repatriation and assassination of their opponents.”

There are 15 live investigations into Iranian plots against Britons, including threats of kidnap, violence and assassination.”

Ukraine war: Zelensky rules out territory deal with Putin in BBC interview
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-64662184

If any article should worry you, it’s this one.

It’s a BBC interview with John Simpson looking like he has been stuffed and propped up in a chair.

However I cannot see a single part of it which looks like an interview. It’s one long tirade of warmongering rhetoric and Zelensky saying anything he likes without any question of what consequences it might imply.

Here’s the highlight of the whole interview:

‘he warned conceding land would mean Russia could “keep coming back”, while Western weapons would bring peace closer.’

Did Mr Simpson point out they could always keep coming back ?. Unless of course Russia are utterly defeated.

And did Mr Simpson ask how sending more weapons will bring peace closer ?. I think Hitler made the same mistake.

It seems Russia are mobilising for full-on war against the massive assistance Ukraine are getting with Western weapons. That sounds like more than a simple land-grab to me. It tells me they genuinely believe they are fighting for their long-term existence. Of course it isn’t as simple as that : they also want the resources they would gain. But when I watch what NATO are doing for a region which is not even a member and hasn’t contributed a penny, I can absolutely understand why Russia did not want them in Eastern Ukraine. It’s not much different from the Cuban Missile crisis in that respect.

How long it continues has nothing whatsoever to with Zelensky.

Once the public in the USA tire of funding it, they will tell Zelensky to start negotiating. And he will do it.

I still stick by my original statement a year ago that Russia intends to take the country to the dnieper river and stop there. There is no other logical dividing point for a hostile border.

And it’s not Putins war, it’s Russia’s war. They are right behind him, whatever the BBC tell us. As are a very large part of the rest of the world. They don’t trust the USA one bit.

        Well said

Its terrible we have to rely of mainstream media and its propaganda for “news”. Luckily the internet isn’t completely closed down to other information, and comical when the bBC does its fact checking

I thought the west had blocked Russia Today rt.com (maybe just the tv channel) a few months back, but i’m able to see the website today

Something came up in a search the other day and when I tried to read it, it would not load.

So out of interest, I tried through a proxy server in Thailand and it worked fine.

The site was a Russian news site in English. I read a few articles and it was not extremist or had any obvious propaganda articles at all. It was just reporting news like the BBC does – though clearly not in a way acceptable to our government.

Compared to the hard-liners who would want to replace him, I have read the same.

They want total war and he is holding them back. Though they are getting to the point where it’s their only option. They are not going simply pull out of all Ukraine at this stage and if that’s what it takes to fight the weapons we are sending, they will do it.

The question is then what do the USA do when Ukraine are still losing. They are deciding what happens there now.

Doomwatch was a BBC1 TV sci-fi series screened way back in the early 1970s. The series was set in the then present day – think brightly coloured shirts, Edwardian-inspired bouffant hair (and that was just the men) with a young Robert Powell sporting a flamboyantly patterned cravat – those celebs turning out in their best retro Westwood gear for Vivienne’s memorial yesterday: Helena Bonham-Carter; Kate Moss; Victoria Beckham – would have loved it – London Fashion Week: Is the cost-of-living crisis fuelling creativity? (the BBC there, just asking) – but I digress.

The Doomwatch plot dealt with a scientific government agency led by Doctor Spencer Quist, played by John Paul (top fictional British boffins perforce require a mysterious name beginning with Q – think Quatermass from the 1950s and 007’s ‘Q‘). If I’ve lost the teenagers with talk of Doomwatch think Black Mirror for grandad, all without computers.

Perhaps I can win back those millennials and younger with the notion that the Doomwatch organisation led by Quist was responsible for investigating and combating various ecological and technological dangers. It was all a bit “How dare they!” as our Greta might say.

It’s a very modern media concern: Chemicals harm upper reaches of River Cam (‘i’); Alarm raised over scale of hospital sewage leaks (Guardian) – Ooh, Matron… we’re gonna need a bigger bedpan !

Doomwatch had the very sciency title: “Department for the Observation and Measurement of Scientific Work” DOMSW (?)

“We were set up to investigate any scientific research, Public or Private, which could possibly be harmful to Man. (thank you Wiki) – what a noble notion – we could perhaps have done with a real life version of that back in early 2020 or earlier – if you catch my drift?

But let’s cut to the chase and explain what I’m getting at here. This morning the Brexit-sceptic Financial Times frontpage – claiming pride of place in the BBC online press line-up with their top headline: Sunak gamble on Brexit endgame spurs warning from Eurosceptics – further carries their reguar featurette Datawatch

DoomwatchDatawatch: The Doomsday Clock moves closer to midnight – this speculative shard of pseudo-scientific bunk purports to tell your cityboy broker audience the time to be precisely 11:58:30

Source: Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists – BOTAS (?)

The Doomsday clock which warns the public how close we are to destroying our world, has hit its closest point to midnight.

Experts believe that humanity is more destructive now than ever before, largely because of nuclear threats over Ukraine.

Oddly, it doesn’t feel as dangerous as – say – the Cuban missile crisis.

Our BBC don’t seem too keen to pour any oil on troubled waters, so to speak: Ukraine war: Zelensky rules out territory deal with Putin in BBC interview – despite: What is the energy price cap and what will happen to bills? (BBC)

Although the US administration is apparently cooling their man ‘Z’ somewhat: Blinken’s warning on retaking Crimea (Telegraph)

Recap :I spot a Radio4 promo tweet that seems to be making out that Greta is a teenager
that’s weird cos Greta is well past 20 now

Activists turn up and quote the first part of the phrase
“[Greta Thunberg] ‘I’m *not* an angry teenager’
Saying see she says she’s not a teenager
Do they care about the truth , or just trying to get at me ?

In fact when you follow the tweet link the BBC page is dated 03 February 2023
    And starts
“The unlikely voice of a generation, teen activist Greta Thunberg talks to Amol Rajan ”

There you go in black and white the page talks about Greta as a teen activist, when in fact she is 20

    So what’s going on ?
#1 The audio page is not new material It’s BBC regurgitating old material as if it’s new
.. the audio actually comes from an Oct 18th TV programme

#2 The audio page is not to do with any radio prog
So why did the BBC go to the trouble of making it now, and promoting it NOW ??

Well it just happened to be released in the same week Greta is promoting her new book ?

I maintain that the BBC has a close relationship with Green PR

Very sad about Bruce Willis being diagnosed with dementia at the age of 67 .
But on the upside I’m sure he will be able to buy the very best of care – and that announcements that even celebrities can develop this horrible disease will help charities – such as mine – dementia UK – with funding for their good work .

If you ever know of someone who is exhibiting dementia / formally diagnosed with it – remember Dementia UK is there to help with specialist nursing advice … it’s only a small charity and does nt have a lot of advertising or ‘admin charges ‘ …. And is one of the good ones …
