I’ve pointed out the big issue with the BBC pensions deficit previously. It’s the reason the BBC will continue to be funded by the taxpayer (licence fee payer). The BBC can’t be sold or privatised, it’s worthless in all senses of the word.

Flotsam, I think there is another alternative: a BBC Trust, not the sham one that is a talking shop for the great and the good but a proper Trust creating an income from investments. The BBC have a period, say three or five years, where they cut their profligate spending and BBC Empire expansion, and they put that excess of income over expenditure into the Trust. Licence Fees for a limited period also go into Trust.

Other commercial activities? Income goes into the Trust. Excessive presenter salaries? Cut by 10% and it goes into the Trust. If the ‘talent’ doesn’t like it then they can find another job with another Broadcaster. ‘Luvvies’ who derive a living via the BBC? The Collection tin should be rattled under their noses until they donate a generous donation and into the BBC Trust it goes. After all, the ‘Luvvies’ have been made rich by the BBC. It is time for them to support the BBC via the Trust and its income.

The Trust can be run along the lines of the Trustee Act 1925 with the investments divided between gilts and equities. After the end of the period of BBC ‘saving’, they should have enough Trust Income to finance their activities and the Licence Fee/Telly Tax can gradually be reduced to zero.

        Fundamental flaw, up2.
        Public sector ? Surplus? Nah!
Within micro-seconds they’d just find new ‘essential’ expenditure. And hey presto. Within a few years they’d be crying on the governments shoulder demanding public subsidies.

Reminds me of an old joke, which I’ll vary here.
Q How do you run a loss-making public sector business?
A Start with a profitable private sector business.

Then you could take Flotsam’s other approach: put the BBC into the hands of a good Receiver, a turn around specialist who would be rigourous on outgoings, Insolvency Act 1986 and all that. The Receiver could sell off bits of the BBC. For example, I’m sure the SNP would pay to control Radio Alba. 😉 🙂

Charles, our King the green activist will open Parliament with the King’s Speech today. I wonder if he will choke on the words that will announce the Bill for granting new oil and gas licences?

I noticed that the Guardian refers to the event as “highly Political” as does the FT highlighted by “Asiseeit” on the previous page. I wouldn’t be surprised if the BBC uses the same language, essentially about anything they don’t agreed with

Following on from Andy’s comment earlier:

‘The BBC pressed Mr Marzouk on the war on Gaza, specifically on the scores of hostages being held inside the territory.’

More like ‘only’ on the hostages. I bet they didn’t go anywhere near the hospital deaths or whether Hamas are using the refugees as human shields.

I would LOVE to see that interview or read the transcript. I really do wonder just how polite, how amiable, how ‘friendly’ and how sympathetic the BBC ‘questions’ were in the face of a Hamas leader blatantly lying.

No doubt similar to the extremely easy ride I saw Kuenessberg give Corbyn the day after she was abrupt and rude interviewing Theresa May.

Man-made climate change is happening and its impacts and costs will be large, serious and unevenly spread. The impacts may be reduced by adaptation and moderated by mitigation, especially by reducing emissions of greenhouse gases. However, global efforts to reduce emissions have not yet been sufficiently successful to provide confidence that the reductions needed to avoid dangerous climate change will be achieved. This has led to growing interest in geoengineering, defined here as the deliberate large-scale manipulation of the planetary environment to counteract anthropogenic climate change.

Biden is being asked to step aside in the Presidential elections as the Demonrats want their golden boy Kim Jung Newsome former governor of California to take his place. Newsome has as many allegations of corruption hanging over him as Biden does, but in a party which is corrupt to its core it’s not surprising.

The Demonrats know that if Biden runs again he will lose to Trump, and it’s pretty much unanimous that he has to go if they are to stand any chance of winning, except for one man.

Barak Obama has said he doesn’t want to see any other man in the White House except for Joseph Biden – now why might that be?

I turned on the radio . There were 2 people talking – a male and Scottish female . The male said black support for president Biden had fallen from 90% to 70% ( I thought it was 110%)- and that the democrats were frightened by the polls because support for president trump was rising .

I checked which station I was listening to . It was GBNews – no it wasn’t – it was Toady …..BBC 4

Our Justin chatting with a dead labour leaders’ daughter Sarah Smith …. It seems Americans are starting to think Joe Biden is old – and that the trial against president trump impacts negatively on the democrats ( political trials of course )

What was I listening to ? I know of course that any discussion about President Trump winning an election is fantasy – it it fixed . It was fixed by Obama really well last time

But – criticism of the false president ? Really ? It seems the democrats have until the end of 2023 to get rid of Biden … maybe they’ll just die him in his sleep ….Christmas Eve maybe – when no one is looking …

I might put another 50p on Michelle Obama ….

    From the DT

STARTS The BBC refuses to call Hamas terrorists because it fears angering the group and losing access to reporting, broadcaster Kirsty Young has suggested.

Young previously presented news for Channel 5 and ITV, but last year she was working for the BBC fronting Platinum Beacons: Lighting up the Jubilee, the live coverage of the celebration of the Queen’s 70-year reign, and then three months later Elizabeth II’s state funeral at Windsor Castle.

Young, who previously presented news for Channel 5 and ITV and was a Desert Island Discs and Crimewatch presenter for the BBC, praised its coverage of the Middle East war.

She said she understood the difficult position the corporation faces, including the criticism for not calling Hamas terrorists after the mass murders of October 7.

Following a storm of criticism the BBC now refers to the group running Gaza as a “proscribed terrorist organisation”.

Young, 54, said: “It’s not necessarily the BBC that is talking about the use of the word terrorism. They’re answering criticism from the outside and I guess as long as – especially when it comes to something in the Middle East – if you’re getting roughly the same amount of complaints from both sides, which they are, then you kind of know you’re doing an OK job.

“And I think this whole reporting that it is a proscribed terror organisation with reference to Hamas, then that is a legitimate stance if you want to continue to have access and to report what is happening in those places.

“Because what you don’t want to do is get thrown out of places because you’re not allowed to report any more.

“You want to have access. You know the whole point of the BBC in news terms is to show people the evidence as fairly as they possibly can.”

Speaking on Monday’s Adam Buxton podcast in an interview recorded last month, she said: “There’s a reason that people trust the BBC news site, and it’s because it was verified by three sources, and it’s because they’re the biggest news organisation in the world.”

When asked about Young’s comments, the BBC responded by referring to its previous statement saying: “We’ve set out our position on the use of language.”

In that, it had said: “Our coverage of the unprecedented assault on Israel by Hamas has made clear the nature of the atrocities committed and the impact this has had on civilians.

“Across our reporting we have explained that Hamas is proscribed as a terrorist organisation by many Western governments, including the UK.
We have reflected the response from the international community to Hamas’ actions, and featured contributors who have described them as terrorists.

“We have given careful consideration to all aspects of our reporting of the Israel-Gaza conflict, both in terms of Hamas’ attacks and Israel’s response – this includes the language that we use.

“The BBC is editorially independent; our role is to explain precisely what is happening so that the public can make their own judgements.

“Our longstanding position, including during previous conflicts between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, has been that we do not use the term ‘terrorist’ without attribution, in line with the BBC’s Editorial Guidelines.”

    ENDS
you can play your own game of ‘false description to keep access ‘….

Hamas Broadcasting Corp really is the name for the BBC – not even hiding it now

There is one tiny glimmer of hope from the islamo-fascist occupation of our streets and public spaces. It is that, at this most critical time (23:59 to be precise), it will provoke a mass awakening to the extreme danger we are in.

The savages are not just at the gates, they are in the gates, and even manning the gates; i.e. they have infiltrated all our institutions, not least our police as shown by the police ‘advisers’ who turned out to be radical islamists. The same goes for the immigration services and all our other institutions.

It’s a faint hope indeed and it’s very, very late. I said 23:59 to be optimistic but, to be honest, I think it’s well past midnight.

Is the USA preparing for war with Iran ?

The excuse is of course that the US military build up is to protest Israel but it is far too numerous and not in the right place to do that.

There is a carrier strike group off the coast of Cyprus along with RAF Akrotiri. There are US bases in Turkey, Israel, Saudi, Iraq, Qatar and probably more countries too.

So when we hear of two more carrier strike groups being sent to the Persian Gulf (one is the Royal taxi service QE carrier) located of Qatar, plus two Ohio class submarines (Ballistic missiles).

Yesterday a US B1 bomber with the sniper pack was flying over Saudi. US nuclear command and control aircraft have been in the sky constantly and several EAN (Emergency Action Notification) to nuclear ballistic missile submarines have been issued. Over the weekend a VLF (very low frequency) aircraft was active over the Pacific coast of America.

This is not normal military practice. On top of that “Nuke sniffer” aircraft have been airborne and surveillance and intelligence gathering aircraft have been active in the Baltic up to the Arctic border between Finland and Russia.

Obviously any plans for an attack on Iran are not going to be made public until the day they are executed, however take this as a warning it is highly likely. There can be no other reason for the USA to assemble so much military hardware if they aren’t intending to use it, and there are no other countries in the region which the US regards as hostile.

Once this happens in the Gulf, the straits of Hormuz will undoubtedly be closed and oil will cease to leave the region. China and Russia have both said they will defend Iran and so it looks highly likely that Obama and his Demonrats will have started WWIII in their corruption and hate of everything Western.

Some time ago I was placed in “Annex B of the Complaints Process”, meaning any complaints I make to the BBC are, basically, ignored. My placing on the Naughty Step was intended to make me stop sending complaints. It has, of course, had precisely the opposite effect, and I now send at least ten every day. I submitted an FOI request to see how my complaints are now handled and, to my delight, was informed that the “ignoring” process is entirely manual, so I am still wasting somebody’s time.

I submitted a typical number yesterday but one slipped through the net and they sent me a meaningful (well, the usual “you are an idiot and we are always right” one) response. I immediately complained that they only have one job not to do, so they should bloomin’ well not do it.

This morning, as a result of all this, I was asked to complete a survey on how well they had handled my complaint. Shall we say that I told them what I think of the BBC and all it does. With all guns blazing, they won’t be pleased with what I wrote.

They kept churning out distractions and I simply, politely, replied that that was as maybe but please answer what I asked.

In the end they used a nuclear version of the ‘it’s taking too much of our time making excuses so we’ll ban you’ option.

Scotland’s SNP first minister Humza Yousaf insisted it was unacceptable to describe the pro-Palestinian events as hate marches and said he supported the march in London going ahead.

The Veteran in Waverly station could have been killed!
He was an injured 78 yr old, (his toe was split) and they continued the assault.

Will the Muslim SNP minister be happy when they kill a Scottish person?

Is the Muslim SNP minister happy that old people are not safe in Scotland’s public places?

Certainly a national leader whose loyalty priorities are faith based beyond all and in this case to a country run by terrorist psychos thousands of miles away that has no links with Scotland bar new inhabitants sharing said faith, and not to his own national constituents.

Does he get access to security material?

Luckily he is held to account by a national broadcaster whose ME output is overseen by an already screw loose editor who suffered a major war junkie mental trauma decades ago and has allowed, and been allowed for it to evolve further and fester unidirectionally ever since, to the point of hiring Jon Donnison of ‘can’t see what else’ impartial military assessment fame.

Said broadcaster also has a £5,000,000,000 budget and now undeserved reputation for ‘trust’ around the world to stir up stuff Hummer likes to see stirred up whilst avoiding stuff Hummer does not.

From what I’ve learned, the word ‘trust’ for the BBC is not quite the right one.

First the BBC is indeed more honest that many of the news channels on the third world shitholes Trump talked about where the media are completely on the payroll of massively corrupt politicians.

Second a lot of Muslim countries like the BBC because they defend them against the infidels. This is exactly why the BBC won’t call them terrorists : they want them as ‘subjects’ where the Leftists agenda can be gently weedled in and the world might shift slowly towards socialism. At the very least, it keeps the millions of them in the West sweet so they will not vote for any right wing party.

What I do find absolutely outrageous is that the BBC appoint a Muslim as head of religious programming. It is not acceptable on any level.

There is a certain irony in the leader of the SCOTTISH NATIONALIST PARTY being a man who seems to have a stronger affiliation with a different country and race than he does with Scotland and the Scots… and one who appears to hate Scottish people for their natural white(r than white in some cases) skin tones too!

The awkward truth the SNP would like to deny, is, of course, that the Scots, like us English (and the Welsh, Irish etc…) are really a rather mixed breed, and not so ethnically, or culturally distinct from the rest of us British, as some might like to think. Even so, the Scots have to be some of the most truly ‘white’ people on the planet.

Sometimes it’s the little things that give the BBC game away.

On the news the other night there was an article about deep space/ astronomy/the universe etc.

The newsreader read out his autocue and then looking at his (contingency reserve) paperwork says, almost certainly unscripted, ‘it says here’. Ho ho ho. A joke.

In other words he didn’t understand the not-that-complicated science he had just read out – and seemed to think it was funny.

Now let’s just think of all the non-scientist BBC ‘journalists’ pontificating and editorialising about science-related stuff. ‘Climate crisis’. Pollution. Covid. They haven’t got a clue about the science, so they resort to woke guff and noddy simplistic summaries.

Yes, this is the level of ‘journalism’ from ‘the world’s most trusted broadcaster’. Hahahaha

Surely they would achieve far more by protesting in Jerusalem, if their Just Stop Oil friends would allow them to travel there. Presumably by train, since they perversely seem to enjoy railway stations so much.

Mouths are agape – this correspondent’s anyway – at poll findings that significant population segments actually believe beheading and burning babies, mutilating pregnant women and rapes so ferocious they broke pelvises are just plain peachy in the name of “decolonization.”

These demos are ramping up as too much time has elapsed for the inevitable cave in across the western politico-media sphere, not that many media are holding out, or did from the 8th on.

What accounts for the “brand equity” that has given Palestinians and, to a certain degree, Hamas such sympathetic treatment, especially in terms of demanding a muted Israel response?

BBC running Pallywood, JonDon going with what seems to him, Baroness Islam across all panel shows and latest with Sophy Dumb Blonde on Sky, ‘Dr’ Shola on Vile… stuff like that.

It would seem Khalid Masood (Westminster Attack 22.03.2017 5 Innocents Killed) was on benefits which comes out of National Insurance payments by the workers of the UK. Thus, it would seem prior to these findings the workers in the UK were unknowingly funding terrorism.

But now we know terrorists operate using welfare benefits it would seem we are knowingly paying terrorists.

Can I suggest that the Government please make sure NI payments by UK workers don’t go into the hands of terrorists by removing the terrorists in the first place. Can you also calculate how much we have/are funded terrorism via welfare benefits by simply getting all known terrorists (left, right, islamic) arrested to-date and those on the watch list and check welfare payments made to them or their immediate family (under various names possibly).

I’m hearing disturbing stories from the USA of school gymnasia being prepared as “CAC” centres (casualty assistance centre) and that kids in the schools are being taught first aid wound dressing akin to what might be described as ‘battlefield’ wounds.

Recruitment notices for “CAC” officers are being posted up as there are too few, and these people are responsible for notifying a central office of the number and types of casualties.

Why on Earth is the US doing this, and if it’s necessary why aren’t the hopeless Tories doing anything? Maybe they are believing a nuclear strike would rid them of the pesky Red Labour voters who they hate, for us can we please have about 3 on the East end, a couple on Luton, another couple on Blackburn, Bradford, & Liverpool, with one specially aimed at the Salford side of the Manchester ship canal.

Letitia James should be disbarred at a bare minimum, she’s a stain on the US justice system.

If it’s James you’re talking about – she’s no judge … she’s more lower midwit hatey lefty politician than lawyer who thinks she can weaponize the legal system for political advantage without fear of blowback – I sincerely hope she’s profoundly wrong and ends up sewing mail sacks (or whatever makeworks are in US womens’s prisons) for her antics.

Another DJT foe is Judge Tanya Chutkan is, on the other a bent lawyer who worked for the Clintons and Obamah and has a back story filled with a whole load of bent dealings (Fusion GPS Russian collusion fraud etc) and was rewarded for her skullduggery by Obama with a judge gig – bent as a corkscrew.
