Between 9:30am and 4:00pm today in the yookay the wholesale price of electricity went negative. A combination of a sunny and windy day.

It would be nice if they could have given the British public free electricity so they could do the hoovering, run the dishwasher, iron clothes etc etc.

But no we pay the inter-connectors e.g. Norway and Netherlands to take our excess electricity. Bat-shit bonkers Britain as Katie would say!

      Anyone sick of it?

Oh they talk a good fight but look at the end of Boris’ piece where he says ‘we can’t force it upon them’….and you know the Establishment will not stand up for ‘Britain’ and British values no matter how many times they insist they value those ‘British values’…ala Starmer.

      Charles Moore:

Nothing has changed in 25 years to ease my concerns about Islam

It seemed to me that most Muslim leaders saw their role not in integrating Muslims in Britain, but in asserting difference and increasing their muscle. Many favoured sharia law trumping British law. They would not support Muslim membership of the Armed Forces if those forces were deployed against Muslim countries. They wanted it to be illegal to attack Islam, let alone denigrate its prophet; and they waged constant ‘lawfare’ to try to silence their critics. They tended, I thought, to see the advance of their cause as a zero-sum game in which the authorities had to cede more ground (sometimes it is literally a matter of territory) to Muslims.

      Boris Johnson:

To any non-Muslim reader of the Koran, Islamophobia, fear of Islam, seems a natural reaction, and, indeed, exactly what that text is intended to provoke. Judged purely on its scripture, to say nothing of what is preached in the mosques, it is the most viciously sectarian of all religions in its heartlessness towards unbelievers. As the killer of Theo Van Gogh told his victim’s mother this week in a Dutch courtroom, he could not care for her, could not sympathise, because she was not a Muslim.

The trouble with this disgusting arrogance and condescension is that it is widely supported in Koranic texts, and we look in vain for the enlightened Islamic teachers and preachers who will begin the process of reform. What is going on in these mosques and madrasas? When is someone going to get 18th century on Islam’s medieval ass?

It is time that we started to insist that the Muslim Council of Great Britain, and all the preachers in all the mosques, extremist or moderate, began to acculturate themselves more closely to what we think of as British values. We can’t force it on them, but we should begin to demand change in a way that is both friendly and outspoken.

They won’t force change upon them as Muslims would start open warfare rather than the stealth long-term strategy aimed at ‘gradually transforming social and political decision-making processes’ they try now….but isn’t that what the armed forces are for…to protect our country and its values, beliefs, society and political system? Instead we get ‘representatives of political Islam encounter a political class that either has little to offer in opposition or actively courts them.’

If that’s what it would take then they’ll have to bite the bullet and respond with due force to defeat Islamo-Fascists just as we did in WW2.

They might not like calling Muslim terrorists ‘terrorists’ and may wish to hide reports on an attempt by a migrant to kill people in London but they do love a dramatic climate change headline…

‘Europe’s heatwave linked to 1,300 deaths, WHO says, as Germany hits record 41.7C’

What’s missing of course is the fact that death from cold weather is 9 times that of heat related deaths….and even if temperatures rose by 3°C cold deaths would still vastly outnumber heat related deaths…

‘During the same time period, there were a median of 363 809 cold-related deaths (empirical 95% CI 362 493–365 310) and 43 729 heat-related deaths (39 880–45 921), with a cold-to-heat-related death ratio of 8·3:1. Under current climate policies, aligned with 3°C increase in global warming, it is estimated that temperature-related deaths could increase by 54 974 additional deaths ‘

…and even then that would be due to an ageing population…old people die due to cold more than the young…..‘driven by rising heat-related deaths and an ageing population, ‘.

You could actually have a headline that says…

    ‘Heatwave saves thousands of lives’

But, er, the BBC ain’t going to publish that.

    From Spiked…

‘A leaked intelligence agency report has revealed the extent of hardline Muslim influence over public institutions.

‘Domestic intelligence agency warns of Islamist influence on German institutions.’ So announced German tabloid Bild in early June, after journalists got hold of a secret German intelligence-agency report

The leaked report quoted Sinan Selen, the head of Germany’s domestic intelligence services, who stated that Islamists, and the Muslim Brotherhood in particular, are focussed on a long-term strategy aimed at ‘gradually transforming social and political decision-making processes’.

It is difficult to know what’s worse: the threat posed by Islamists itself, or the fact the German state wanted to keep this threat secret? By refusing to make these insights public, the government implies that citizens cannot be trusted with them.

The reason for the secrecy is obvious. These warnings from the domestic intelligence agency do not fit the ‘official’ narrative that Muslim immigration is, on the whole, a success story. They certainly embarrass a significant number of politicians who have not merely ignored the problems it raises, but deliberately looked away – the better to portray themselves as especially virtuous, enlightened defenders of a minority group they have chosen as uniquely worthy of protection.

Examples of this attitude abound. On 15 March, Berlin hosted a ‘Day Against Islamophobia’ (other minority groups – say, Hindus or Buddhists – are afforded no equivalent day). The occasion, to be commemorated annually, was promoted as one meant to strengthen ‘diversity and social cohesion’.

One justification offered by the city’s elites is that Muslims are disproportionately targeted by racism. In a television interview, Cansel Kiziltepe, Berlin’s diversity and anti-discrimination minister, claimed that ‘60 per cent of Berliners harbour anti-Muslim prejudices’. She said that ‘anti-Muslim racism is a bitter reality for many people’, and that it was ‘high time for [the Berlin mayor and the senate] to demonstrate its appreciation for the 400,000 Muslims in the city’.

These sweeping claims – portraying the city as a hotbed of anti-Muslim ‘racism’ – rested on a single source: a poll by the Berlin Monitor, which is funded in large part by Berlin’s mayor and senate. The poll, based on a survey that mostly offered citizens a binary ‘yes / no’ choice, found that 58 per cent of Berliners agreed that ‘Islam is misogynistic in all its forms’, while 61 per cent rejected the claim that ‘Muslims advocate for an open society’. Forty-two per cent believed the number of Muslims in Germany was too high, and 36 per cent affirmed that ‘Muslims plan to Islamise the West step by step’.

There is, of course, much to be said about the problems with such generalisations – clearly not all Muslims want to Islamise the West. But if the domestic intelligence warning is worth anything, it shows that these citizens’ concerns are at the very least partly justified. If anything, these Germans are less naïve and reckless than large parts of their own government.

In truth, the Islamists’ march through German institutions has been underway for years – and warnings about ‘Islamophobia’ have only aided that process. Rather than risk criticism, many in positions of authority have preferred to look away, even as it became increasingly clear that the Muslim Brotherhood and other radical Islamist organisations had spent years building relationships with German state officials and NGOs – a process of reciprocity, in which the German state has been just as willing to strengthen and embrace these ties.

One example is Islamic religious instruction in state schools. Tens of thousands of children take part in these classes every year – 60,000 in 2020 alone. Despite repeated concerns, some education departments continue to cooperate closely with DITIB, the Turkish-Islamic Union for Religious Affairs. DITIB is Germany’s largest Islamic umbrella organisation, controlling around 900 mosques. It operates under the direct authority of Turkey’s state religious body, Diyanet. Then there are the hundreds of NGOs that receive state funding and work closely with the government.

The scale of the problem was illustrated a few weeks ago, when Germany’s Federal Court of Auditors sharply criticised the government for funding an organisation called Islamic Relief Germany. Domestic intelligence agencies had been drawing attention confidentially to the organisation’s ties to the Muslim Brotherhood for several years, yet the Foreign Ministry continued to channel money to it. The Foreign Ministry, like the German state in general, refused to reveal the funding arrangement, citing supposed security interests. The arrangement only came to light after journalists for Focus filed a lawsuit, which led to reports being released revealing payments totaling €15million to the organisation.

The Syrian-born German political scientist Bassam Tibi has long noted Germany’s problem with Islam. In a 2024 interview, Tibi criticised the German government’s inability to demand integration from its immigrants. Organised Islam in Germany, he argued, is strictly orthodox, and the major mosque associations belong to the sphere of political Islam. Although these associations represent only a minority of Muslims, they ‘make vociferous demands, and the political establishment treats them as key points of contact’ – thereby elevating and emboldening them.

The deeper problem, according to Tibi, is that representatives of political Islam encounter a political class that either has little to offer in opposition or actively courts them. Asked what he thought of Frankfurt and Cologne illuminating and decorating their streets for Ramadan, Tibi called it yet another example of politicians pandering to Islam – something that sends the wrong signal when it comes to integration. Germany has been making this mistake for years.

The warning from Germany’s own intelligence services needs to be heeded. It is time for Germans to speak freely about the threat of Islamism. ‘

To make it make sense he would need to call a GE which would be 5 years then win the one after that to get to 10 years.

I really believe if he calls an election he will lose the Makerfield seat when the greens/libdems get their 20% of the vote back and the TTK getter ridder off’ers go back to Reform after getting rid of TTK.

The most he can get is 2 and a bit years unless the UK has a death wish in ‘29.

UK Live | Andy Burnham Unveils Vision, Launches ‘No 10 North’ for Britain in Major Leadership Speech
    CRUX | 3.42m subscribers

“Labour leadership contender Andy Burnham is set to deliver his first major campaign speech, outlining a 10-year plan to raise living standards across the UK. His proposals focus on economic growth, devolution, and creating a “No 10 North” in Manchester as part of a wider shift of power from Whitehall. ”

    ….

According to the latest Census 2021 data, exactly 31.4% of Manchester’s population (173,206 residents) were born outside of the UK. This highlights a steady increase from 25.3% in 2011, making Manchester one of the most diverse and multicultural cities in the country

    …..

In London, approximately 41% of the population (about 3.6 million people) were born outside the UK. This represents the highest concentration of foreign-born residents in the country, significantly exceeding the national average of around 19%

    ……

The overall crime rate in the city of Manchester sits at approximately 154 to 164 crimes per 1,000 people, which is higher than the national and regional averages. Greater Manchester Police report fluctuating but high figures, with central hubs experiencing the highest volumes of activity.

Yes, Manchester is officially a City of Sanctuary. In October 2024, Manchester City Council was formally awarded ‘Council of Sanctuary’ status by City of Sanctuary UK, solidifying the city’s commitment to supporting refugees, asylum seekers, and individuals fleeing violence or persecution.

Three-Year Strategy: The status is backed by an active strategy known as “A Manchester Welcome,” which focuses on empowering sanctuary seekers, promoting social cohesion, and providing local support.

Here’s something the Beeb won’t be talking about:

“Why Will The Media Not Ask Andy Burnham About Operation Hexagon?
There is an operation Greater Manchester Police will not name. The press will not name it either. It has a name. Operation Hexagon.
A police operation was built to hunt the people who exposed the rape of children in Oldham. The man who held authority over it is walking towards Downing Street.
They Built An Operation To Hunt The Whistleblowers

    _________
Operation Hexagon was a joint enterprise between Greater Manchester Police, Oldham Council and Labour Party politicians. The grooming gangs were never its target. Neither were the men who shielded them. The machinery was aimed at the whistleblowers, and at the ordinary people who dared to ask how children came to be raped in Oldham.
Read that back slowly. A police force and a political party, working in concert, turned on the citizens who demanded accountability. The abusers were left untouched. The people exposing them were placed under the lens.
I can speak to Hexagon because Hexagon came for me.
Officers were sent to build cases against me that had no foundation. They repeatedly raided my house at dawn. The Crown Prosecution Service was turned into an instrument for manufacturing evidence to put me in the dock. Every charge collapsed. Every allegation was dismissed.
That is what an official police operation was made into. A machine for assembling false cases against a man whose only offence was refusing to look away while children were raped.
The Authority Ran Straight To Andy Burnham

    _________
Hexagon did not run in a vacuum. It ran under a chain of command, and that chain ends at Andy Burnham.
As Mayor of Greater Manchester, Burnham holds the powers of the police and crime commissioner. He has held authority over Greater Manchester Police since 2017. Oldham is the epicentre of the scandal and the focus of Hexagon, and Oldham sits inside his remit. An operation of this kind, run in his force, in his region, against the critics of a cover up, does not happen beyond the reach of the man who commands the force.
He has never answered for it. He stood in election after election and said nothing. The silence of the man who held the authority is itself the answer.
    They Buried The Whole Thing
    ________
You have not read about Operation Hexagon in your newspaper. That is by design.
Freedom of Information requests are refused with practised ease. The press that rushes to report every other case of police misconduct keeps its distance from this one. An operation confirmed to exist is reported as though it never happened. The blackout is the cover up that guards the cover up.
The Man Who Oversaw It Is Walking Into Downing Street
    _________
Here is why this matters now beyond anything it mattered before. Andy Burnham is on the road to Number Ten. The man who held authority over a police operation aimed at the whistleblowers of a child rape scandal is about to become the most powerful figure in the country.
Operation Hexagon should have finished his career. It has been allowed to sit as a footnote that no one in Westminster and no one in the press will read aloud.
Which is why it is left to us.”
