So the New Labour Leader / King / first woman leader wants to build the biggest number of council houses since the war.
The history of council housebuilding is defined by three distinct eras:1945–1979 (The Boom): Driven by post-war reconstruction and the 1946 New Towns Act, this era saw councils building an average of 126,000 homes a year. The post-war peak was in 1954, when local authorities completed 198,210 homes. The last time councils achieved high historical figures was in 1978-79, delivering over 90,000 new homes.
If we say 125,000 a year, at roughly £250,000 each, more if built in the south, will mean spending £31 Billion a year.
AND who will build them? We will need more just to house the immigrant brickies
He wants to devolve Government but Burnham seems to have forgotten that the Starmer Government had already put in motion a local government devolution. The idea of that was to agglomerate various Councils into Mayoral Combined Authorities. As an example Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Warrington combined with an election due in May 2027. It’s already happened.
The really stupid thing is it wasn’t that long ago in 2009 that Cheshire was divided into two separate Councils, Cheshire East and Cheshire West, 2009. Lots of bits of Cheshire bits have been hacked off over the years in a number of government reorganisations. All I see is more waste and empire building.

Further thoughts on Local Government reform. I think a major motive for many of the local government reforms has been a blurring of accountability, diffusion of responsibility.
LG hasn’t been working effectively, they pay their chief executives handsomely but Councils have morphed from being our servants to being our masters. Very poor financial control is the norm, the Unions have more power than the electorate. This is all the more prevalent in the largely Labour One Party States that inner City Councils have become. They have failed to act on ethnic rape gangs for example.
I think I heard Burnham talking about reforming Business Rates, making the setting and collection local. I should remind everyone on here that Margaret Thatcher abolished localised Business Rates by introducing the Uniform Business Rate with centranlised setting of Valuations and rate. The reason for this change was due to certain left wing Councils seeing businesses as a soft target for extra taxation via business rates. Liverpool under Derek Hatton increased Business Rates substantially leading to an exodus of businesses and jobs out of the area. Thatcher solved the problem but Burnham seems to want to revert.
In all cases where local Councils are given tax and charge raising powers, left wing Councils apply them unreasonably and unfairly often justified by Green agenda. More powers to Councils, no thanks.
Flotsam – the other biggy is ‘no accountability ‘ – no local press carefully examining councils – or having very cost £ relations £ with them .
All the city councils are infiltrated by Muslim tribes giving out jobs and contracts to relatives – ..
“He was re-elected at the 2014 mayoral election as the candidate for Tower Hamlets First, but the result of this election was declared null and void on 23 April 2015 when the Election Court officially reported Lutfur Rahman to be “personally guilty” of “corrupt or illegal practices, or both” (electoral fraud) under the Representation of the People Act 1983.[2][3] He was thus removed from his office with immediate effect and was also personally debarred from standing for elected office until 2021.[4][5] He was also struck off as a solicitor.[6]”

Strength in numbers….or rather no numbers…or indeed coherent thought…..diversity is not our strength….
‘Revealed: How the Treasury abandoned numeracy to boost diversity’ ‘For many years now, the Treasury has run its own talent scheme for highflying graduates.
But then came 2020, the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, and the subsequent mental breakdown of the British state. The Treasury’s response to the death of a man in a completely different country, it appears, was to remove the numerical reasoning test from its graduate scheme.
‘The Numerical Reasoning Test (NRT) was removed due to evidence of the test having adverse impact on candidate diversity. Subsequently, the levels of adverse impact decreased in the 2020 campaign.’’
Not only numbers that were the problem….seems a good grasp of English and the ability to understand sentences was way too much for our diverse applicants and so…
‘Already following the 2019 application run, the department had noted that in other years the programme’s verbal reasoning test had higher rates of ‘adverse impact on ethnicity’ than the numerical test. This was backed up by expert advice from the ‘ethnic diversity recruitment specialists Rare’, who noted that ‘their candidates tend to struggle with verbal testing in particular.’ Lo and behold, in 2024 the department removed its verbal reasoning test too, to avoid adversely affecting diversity outcomes. It was replaced by the ‘Civil Service Strengths Test’, a hard-hitting assessment which asks candidates if they agree or disagree with statements like ‘I prefer not to have to concentrate on one thing for too long’ or ‘It is important for me to exceed expectations when I am given a task to do.’ Gruelling stuff.’
Yep, that’s what we need at the British Treasury….people who can’t add up and who can’t comprehend English language.
Still could be worse…might be your doctor…surely not?

Immigrants and refugees are still deliberately muddled up.
Legitimate refugees are just that and historically quite likely to return whence they came from *refuge* – and often self fund anyway (it they managed to gather up some funds before fleeing….)
Immigrants are people moving for reasons other than fear of persecution / threat to life and, if they want to come, let them come but NOT AT A COST TO THE INHABITANTS of their destination country. Immigrants generally want to improve their situation – better jobs / opportunity etcetera – we ABSOLUTELY shouldn’t be funding them.

Socialists will say workers pay taxes, they don’t, the money they pay comes from the business that employs them. There is a persistent fiction that operates around taxation relating to employment. This new idea of how to get more immigrants in but dressing it up as something good by ‘sponsoring’ them is another disaster.
Instead of having to pay the boat people thousands to get them into GB they can get a family to ‘sponsor’ them.
In Rochdale, Birmingham or many other places there will be thousands of families saying they will ‘sponsor’ somebody (a cousin or some family member, a friend or any number of others) and they can fly in, just like that.
Once in it will be almost impossible to get rid.
There’s also the possibility of families here being forced to ‘sponsor’ somebody such as a terrorist type or soldier for future operations.
It will not lower the incoming, it will offer a new route in with all the usual routes operating normally. It will increase the number coming in.
Will the ‘sponsor’ have to pay for medical treatments,I bet they don’t.
Schooling costs and lots of other living costs? Nope.
Will they end up qualifying for payments from the government? I bet they will.
Will they be paying their way or be a cost to have here. We all know the answer to that.
And that’s assuming they are behaving themselves as perfect citizens. Will they turn to crime with the costs and heartaches it brings.
It’s a barmy idea trying to fool people that some Pakistani English family here will pay everything and the ‘sponsored’ person will make no difference at all.

The BBC has issued an official explanation on why it has failed to cover our rape gang inquiry.
‘Complex choices’ are made for editorial and practical reasons.
These choices ‘should not be taken as indicative of bias.’
Their words.
But the BBC were very quick to cover malicious complaints against our inquiry, in an attempt to smear our efforts? They were then forced to later apologise about how they covered the story.
So either the inquiry is worth reporting on, or it’s not.
They can’t pick and choose.
We’re told ‘complex choices’ are made, meaning that efforts to uncover the industrial rape of young girls is not near the top of list.
Let’s take a look at a few stories on the main BBC news page, right now…
‘Osaka pays ‘love and respect to Japan’ in Wimbledon kimono’
‘Why £15 durians are being sold at half price – or given away for free’
‘We had packed lunches every day for 10 years and retired at 40’
Are these stories more important than the rape gang inquiry?
I think not.
You cannot hate the BBC enough.
I expect no fair coverage from them, I’ve stopped expecting it.
But the BBC is funded by the British people.
Their continued suppression of our inquiry is a disgrace.”

Business is evil. Charity is good – we need more charity shops.
Flotsam – the other biggy is ‘no accountability ‘ – no local press carefully examining councils – or having very cost £ relations £ with them .
All the city councils are infiltrated by Muslim tribes giving out jobs and contracts to relatives – ..

Strength in numbers….or rather no numbers…or indeed coherent thought…..diversity is not our strength….
‘Revealed: How the Treasury abandoned numeracy to boost diversity’
‘For many years now, the Treasury has run its own talent scheme for highflying graduates.

What I have noticed with Burnham is that no MSM journalists ask how he did when he was last a minister. I think we all know the answer. Research Briefing | Published Thursday, 23 October, 2025
The UK spent £2.8 billion, or 20% of its aid budget, supporting refugees in the UK in 2024. This drew criticism from aid groups. What is the government response?
https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/cbp-9663/
Immigrants and refugees are still deliberately muddled up.
Legitimate refugees are just that and historically quite likely to return whence they came from *refuge* – and often self fund anyway (it they managed to gather up some funds before fleeing….)
Immigrants are people moving for reasons other than fear of persecution / threat to life and, if they want to come, let them come but NOT AT A COST TO THE INHABITANTS of their destination country. Immigrants generally want to improve their situation – better jobs / opportunity etcetera – we ABSOLUTELY shouldn’t be funding them.

This is the bald truth that the Left and public sector fail to understand.
The Government only spends money, it doesn’t make a penny of money itself. The only money Government has to spend is that generated by business.
Socialists will say it’s the workers that make the money. They don’t, it’s the business that employs them that does.
Socialists will say workers pay taxes, they don’t, the money they pay comes from the business that employs them. There is a persistent fiction that operates around taxation relating to employment. An employer pays NI for an employee, the employee pays NI as well as PAYE income Tax but in reality it’s the employer who pays all of those taxes out of profits created from enterprise.

And … many visitors here well know that that position of trust has been thrown away for ideological reasons – the goons running it are intent on propagandising their audience regardless of reality.
‘Used’… for what?
I stay abreast of BBC to see what propaganda they are trying to push.
‘News’ it is not.
