The very responsible BBC is no doubt double checking its facts before reporting the devastating news that Professor Jason Arday has resigned his position….or maybe the BBC can’t see the keyboard for the tears being shed about their DEI hero.
This is a big story not least because the police secretly investigated a journalist for 4 months because he dared to ask questions about Arday’s career and tried to warn him off.
The BBC published a gushing report about Arday on his appointment as professor….but has been studiously silent as a barrage of accusations have been targeted at Arday. The BBC eventually slipped out a report but this was weighted in Arday’s favour of course and nothing more has been heard since despite that increasing torrent of accusations and suspicion.

As Arday announces his resignation just about every news outlet is reporting it…not the BBC.
One explanation for the BBC’s reluctance might be that one of its ex-executives, Roger Mosey, was on the panel that deals with DEI issues and may have had a hand in promoting Arday’s blossoming career.

On an earlier thread I stated i thought that early prisoner release was discretionary rather than set out in legislation. I was wrong, I did a quick search and found the Sentencing Act 2026 meant automatic early release of certain prisoners. This would explain why PC Harper’s killers will be automatically released and why if they weren’t they would be able to legally challenge the decision and probably win with compensation. It explains why Burnham appears to be unable to do anything.
The Sentencing Act 2026 was due to come into force in September but just when we think the matter is decided, Burnham’s has paused this pending review. So we can wonder if this legislation is valid or not, I assume Parliament has passed it so on what basis is it paused?
What a bloody mess, created by Mastermind Lammy.
Surely the way to have handled this would have been to make selection discretionary in some way without the use of defective, badly thought out legislation.

Is parliament sovereign or not? I know the Sentencing Act 2026 is a stupid ill thought out law but it is the law. So how can the Police take legal action against the government for letting out the yobs who killed the PC?

A classic example of what goes wrong when a government apply a plethora of outdated laws built upon even more outdated law. In my book, “outdated” refers in this context to laws built upon the intrinsic inclination of the indigenous British to adhere to the law. Outdated now, in that the intrinsic honesty, in the main, of the population is being replaced by imported chancers and utterly dishonest people that thrive on bending or completely ignoring the law.

With an Alexa, or just a phone, there are hundreds of sites playing exactly what you want to hear.
Ignoring stuff like rap, boring repetitive lawn-mower sounds played for twenty minutes, or even modern ‘skipping rope songs’ by squealy girls and boys, (remember seeing the daughters out in the garden, holding one like a mic?), there’s a list of so many real classics like work by Pink Floyd, Led Zep, Genesis* etc., and I have absolutely no knowledge of what’s around now!

The BBC’s 10 p.m. report on his resignation focused on the fact that the original allegations of plagiarism were made by Nathan Cofnas, the US academic who was ejected from Cambridge thanks to his choice views on race. The BBC reporter also listed most of his excuses, including:
“He said that some errors in his earlier academic work could be related to his autism. And he also told the Times that there had been a concerted campaign to remove him from the university, which he argued was racially motivated… More than 16,000 people have signed a petition in support of him set up by the Good Law Project, but some academics have argued that there are now serious questions to answer.”
That ‘petition‘ is one of Jolyon’s Good Law Project data gathering exercises and can be signed by Mr Potato Head. The BBC’s written report also printed his defences extensively and brought up Cofnas again, despite his limited relevance to the case as a whole:
“Arday said some errors in his early academic work was because of his autism, as he relied on using mimicry to make sense of information, and that similar scrutiny would find similar errors in work by other academics…
