Ah – the Glorious 12th … then .. VJ Day Friday -Solar eclipse Wednesday – Clacton bi election Thursday . BBC gearing up to run the current narrative that Reform is ‘over’ – whatever the outcome . Every political / propaganda programme will parrot the ‘disaster for Nigel Farage ‘…

Inferno, hot stuff and that classic curry gag edition
Headlines, eh?
The giveaway adsheet Metro appears to have borrowed one from the Mirror: Nurses collapsing as stifling heat takes toll
What you need to understand is that yesterday was the hottest eva! And that’s a very, very bad thing.
‘Houses burn and train derails on hottest day’ and ‘Britain on fire’ – is our BBC’s appreciative headline summary of the print news headlines.
Britain in meltdown… Homes in flames as wildfires spread… Did record 38.1c heat cause train to derail? – asks the Express
These accident investigations tend to take months and years to examine all the evidence before reaching a conclusion.
The Times however, speculates boldly: The heat may have buckled track that caused three carriages to derail
I’m not saying six house fires in Stourbridge, West Midlands, are a small thing – but it’s also not quite the end of the world as we know it…
INFERNO – shrieks the ever-excitable Daily Mail: On hottest day of the year, rampant wildfires engulf streets of family homes
Heatwave devastation… Britain on fire – frets the Mirror: Homes destroyed… Meanwhile, train crash terror and rail chaos on hottest day of the year
Now this morning I don’t know whether it’s more dangerous to stay home or to attempt to travel?
‘Apocalyptic’ wildfire… Horror on the 2.24pm – the normally jovial Daily Star on the one hand trumps rival superlative house fire reporting and on the other seems to channel some lost Agatha Christie mystery.
The Telegraph is refreshingly complacent: Train derails in the heat
Now we get a hint as to what all these new Andy Burnham-style regional mayors are going to do: Homes blaze in west Midlands on hottest day of the year… Mayor declares ‘extremely worrying’ situation (i paper)
The Mayor of the West Midlands is Richard Parker, a Labour and Co-operative Party politician who took office in May 2024. His current term runs until May 2028 – thank you A.I.
So just as the police prime function these days appears to be to ‘sympathise with victims’ and to ‘understand the concerns of our communities’ – so we can now look forward to a brand new batch of politicians making trite platitudinous observations on events in their regions.
Before we move on to other hot topics – although given all those ‘Britain Ablaze’ and ‘Apocalypse Now’ -style headlines you’d wonder there was any other news worthy of mention – even so, the Mail commentary: Devastation… after blaze at a golf course… – had your naughty Mr AsI recalling an old Not The Nine O’clock News skit of a Conservative Party conference speech delivered by Rowan Atkinson. To a packed expectant auditorium Rowan’s Tory declares “I am a golfer!” to rapturous applause.
He goes on of course to crack that gag about curry. “I like curry, but now that we’ve got the recipe…” – given the Boris Wave I fear an irony overload coming on – so let’s move on… but oh how our 1980s alternative comics misjudged the Tories and their attitude toward mass immigration. Or perhaps that attitude was in fact altered by such alternative comics, among other influences.
Staying close by the subcontinent…
The FT tends to disparage India (Populist, Hindu nationalist Modi and all that) but then there’s that admirable islamic near-neighbour: Pakistan’s bold ambitions on the world stage (Alec Russell, FT)
Hot stuff
The Mail is in no mood to cool things down: The nightmare of living with a SEXSOMNIAC – In case you were wondering… I’d google that for you but I have my search history to worry about.
By the way, how we feelin’ ’bout government garnering ever more of our personal details into their dodgy databases?
NHS service admits data breach due to pager use… NHS Blood and Transplant had been sending sensitive medical data across the unencrypted pager network (BBC)
In 2019, then-Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced the NHS in England should stop using pagers by 2021, but some parts of the organisation have continued doing so. (BBC) – NHS still using pagers? How very retro. Didn’t they notice what Mossad did to Hezbollah in Lebanon? Let’s hope for their sake our Palestine-leaning NHS staff didn’t procure their pagers cheap off some shady bloke named Hymie.
Kate Lister is an historian of sex and a regular columnist for the arch feminist i paper: Men in their 20s keep hitting on me. I want to call their mothers – It’s a shot in the dark but just possibly these young chaps aren’t getting anywhere with girls their own age because ultra feminists of your sort have warned young women off men?
Why heatwaves hit women harder… Overwhelmed, irritable, dizzy, bloated, exhausted. – hanging around the BBC online news headlines since 9th July.
Afghan women speak to BBC after five years of Taliban rule… The country’s ultra-conservative Taliban rulers have significantly restricted women’s lives since re-taking power in 2021 (BBC)
I’m inevitably put in mind of James Brown’s 1966 hit It’s A Man’s World (co-written with Betty Jean Newsome)
Which tends to lead us to one of those classic successful female celebrity millionaire oh-woe-is-me angst articles: Imelda Staunton ‘I’m still trying to cope with being made a dame’ (Guardian) – you could always give it back, luv.
“Afghan women speak to BBC after five years of Taliban rule… The country’s ultra-conservative Taliban rulers have significantly restricted women’s lives since re-taking power in 2021 (BBC)”
Alternative title “Afghan women speak to BBC about trans rights effected by Taliban rule and the increase of Bacha boys on national TV!”
….
“Bacha bazi[1] (Persian[a]: بچه بازی, lit. ’boy play’) is a pederastic practice in Afghanistan and in historical Turkestan, in which men exploit and enslave adolescent boys, sometimes for sexual abuse, and/or coerce them to cross-dress in attire traditionally only worn by women and girls and dance for entertainment.”
BBC CELEBRATE THEIR MAN’S DEFEAT……
Count Bin face aka ..BBC script writer, John Harvey, got a healthy 9,500 votes in Claxton. The BBC are so, very pleased. Bin face is the real winner…..apparently.
The fact that the electorate have returned Farage with a greater majority is not really a headline ,especially when the turnout is considered.
Smug today presenter on the BBC radio 4 this morning doing a half cocked job pretending that Harvey has no connection to the BBC.
The lack of self awareness at the BBC continues to be their only contribution to the national comic output.

The Department for Eliminating Food and Rural Agriculture (DEFRA) has been identified as responsible for turning the UK into a tinderbox:
https://dailysceptic.org/2026/08/13/defra-not-climate-change-is-turning-england-into-a-tinderbox/
“Satellite data reveals six times more land was burnt across the UK in the last decade than the previous one – and Defra’s own policies are largely to blame, says Ian Botham in the Telegraph.
By restricting preventative winter burns and reducing upland grazing, the Department has created vast expanses of combustible vegetation, ignoring warnings from fire chiefs, wildfire scientists and its own officials. ”
“Other countries have learnt the hard way. Australia and California tried suppressing the prescribed burns that indigenous people had used for tens of thousands of years. By some calculations, dozens died before their governments saw sense. What will it take for ours to wake up?”

Sowell presents a devastating critique of the mind-set behind the failed social policies of the past thirty years. Sowell sees what has happened during that time not as a series of isolated mistakes but as a logical consequence of a tainted vision whose defects have led to crises in education, crime, and family dynamics, and to other social pathologies. In this book, he describes how elites, the anointed, have replaced facts and rational thinking with rhetorical assertions, thereby altering the course of our social policy.

Islam is coming – join Islam to join the new defence initiative – Bradford are already signed up! HA HAH AHA
“A new defence pact between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey has raised questions in New Delhi over whether Islamabad could use the agreement to build wider security ties with Muslim-majority countries in India’s neighbourhood, analysts have said.
The Mecca Joint Defence Agreement, signed on Friday, states that an armed attack on any one of the three countries would be treated as an attack on all of them.”

“Deng Majek stabbed Rhiannon Whyte 23 times with a screwdriver in a frenzied 90-second attack in 2024 after following the 27-year-old to Bescot Stadium railway station in Walsall.
He was later caught on CCTV dancing and laughing.”
