    I suspect there are many lecturers, professors and researchers at UK universities who are prepared to gild the lily of their research, or indeed of their whole life. Jason Ardey took it to a whole new level. But our criticism wasn’t really of him.

    Our scorn was for the Lefties of academia, the Lefterati who appointed him. We all know it was their desperation to hire a young black person from a deprived background, they were eager to ignore the fact that his academic ability wasn’t up to it.

    I feel no guilt. Ardey was a liar and I don’t like liars. But the real guilt for his death should be felt by those who knew why they were appointing him and those pushing the DEI agenda.

      There will surely be claims that Jason Arday was hounded to his sad demise – I stand by my assertion that he was a victim of the DEI obsessed progressives – anyone who’s made the the sort of claims he did is going to be psychologically fragile – the moment the storm broke the people who put him into the situation must take some responsibility – The Priory or something similar… I wonder if he asked for help and his calls weren’t answered.

    I really came here to post about the new Fire minister but I do feel sadness that Jason Ardey has died.

    I was curious what qualifications Baroness Blake of Leeds has to become Fire Minister. I googled her. She was leader of Leeds Council (Labour of course), but certainly Wiki doesn’t provide any clue why she is the most suited for the job.

    I am wondering what the Baroness’ remit is. I am hoping she has the power to over rule the eco lobby and declare that in future there should be controlled burning on moors and arable areas to ensure there isn’t plenty of tinder around in hot summers. I am hoping as the Baroness drives from Leeds to London (or do I mean Manchester?) to perform her duties, she might notice that councils are no longer trimming branches and they now hide the road signs that give us all a clue which road we need to take. It is all very well banning disposable barbeques (probably a good idea anyway) but do we or the government actually know that they are the cause of these fires.

    I think it is a Denis Howell moment. According to the weather forecast on GBNews there is rain forecast for central England tonight. I predicted something like that when I heard that Handy Andy was holding a COBRA meeting a few days ago. He was probably told that the hot weather was about to break.

        I wonder if Arday’s progressive colleagues / employers shunned him – seems all defenders fell away quite quickly once it hit the MSM.

        Simon Webb at History Debunked has posted on the matter – and that is relevant as he flagged Arday as a problem some 4 years ago – so Cambridge had an extended period to deal with the situation. This is 100% Cambridge University’s fault – imho.

    A great heatwave, lack of rain, water shortages and rationing, wildfires and apocalyptic warnings about food shortages….an unprecedented harbinger of planet destroying climate change?

    Hmmmm….wasn’t that the situation in 1976 when people were told to ‘bath with a friend’ in 3 inches of water? In fact 1976 would have been worse….the dry spell was actually over an 18 month period with the 1975 winter being very dry….however the 1976 winter was very very wet….so the usual narrative that climate change will bring hot summers and wet winters was already operating in 1976 when climate change wasn’t a thing….could it just be ‘weather’?

    As with covid when people were not convinced the government decided that we had to be frightened into believing and thus we get the alarmist apocalyptic claims about climate change now ramped up to the nth degree in order to scare us into submission.

    ‘Matt Hancock told aides he wanted to “frighten the pants off everyone” to ensure compliance with Covid-19 restrictions, according to the latest batch of leaked messages which reveal discussions over when to “deploy” details of a new strain.’

    When I was ten, my schoolmate, Christopher Chadwick wrote a poem about the drought and sent it to Dennis Howell. It was published in The Sun, on page three naturally. He told me later, that his father had written it for him.

    On Jason Arday’s death the BBC has suddenly prioritised the story as its world top story….after having studiously ignored the furore over his appointment and DEI….which I think shows that the story was, of course, an important one for many reasons, the same reasons that the BBC tried to ignore or downplay it….which they will continue to do whilst hunting down those it will blame for his death.

    You can bet the BBC and allies will now be casting blame for Arday’s death in an attempt to silence future criticism of DEI in the interest of the mental health of anyone being investigated. Naturally this approach will not apply to the likes of Nigel Farage for whom a relentlessly intense barrage of questioning and challenges is legitimate…openness, transparency and accountability being very very important…just not if you’re one of the BBC’s favoured pet groups.
