Watching GB News Free Speech Union tonight there was the usual Leftie . Black Lives Matter was mentioned and he immediately used the words ‘that nobody could argue that…..’ I think it was about the number of unarmed black men shot or killed in the US by policemen. As soon as I heard it I thought ‘well I could disagree’ as I have read that the numbers are not what are claimed by Left activists.
It is the same with climate change. I hear so frequently on tv (but not the BBC because I refuse to watch it) ‘You can’t argue that the climate is changing’ or words to that effect. I could argue that the climate is changing all the time but I am a great deal less certain that many (indoctrinated by the BBC) that man has anything to do with it. I could also argue that the climate is changing every second or millisecond but I don’t suppose me turning up the heating will change anything anyway.
And the same with Gaza. I hear the words..’everybody can agree that there has been a genocide in Gaza’.
It is happening too frequently to be coincidence. I don’t know whether this technique is being taught in universities or whether just been absorbed by people younger than me.

Whilst I agree with most of your post Jeff, just one tiny issue. Not all the simpering women who appointed Jason Arday were white. I am sure Sonita Alleyne would have been involved in his appointment and she isn’t white.

Andy Burnham announced on Friday that the government is pledging £65 million to help farmers with the drought. Apparently that works out at £620 per farmer. A politician with any business experience might have asked the right questions to realise that this isn’t going to help an awful lot but of course Andy Burnham has never worked in business. As I understand it, the money is to build new reservoirs. A new tractor costs somewhere around £100,000 each (except Clarkson’s Lamborghini) so the £620 will not go very far and what it won’t do is help farmers this season. Besides for farmers on chalk land for example, the only water available to fill a resrvoir they might build will have to come from rain….and there is drought because there isn’t any rain. Of course for farmers in flood plains, probably the last thing they will want is a reservoir. Mr Burnham needs to take advice from real farmers and not the lanyard classes what help they really need.
And apparently the £65 million isn’t new money but comes out of the existing DEFRA budget.

A genuine black academic and intellectual, Thomas Sowell, described this comprehensively in his book ‘Conflict of Visions’ published in 1987. I’m not doing him justice here, but basically he categorised people as being ‘Constrained’ or ‘Unconstrained’ in how they view the World. In this context, the constraining factor is reality itself. The constrained thinkers accept that humans are fallible, that human nature is unchanging, that we must rely on experience and tradition and develop social structures that reflect reality (these are the right wingers if you like). The unconstrained thinkers are not restricted by reality, they are utopians, human nature is essentially good, we can make the world perfect and no price is too high to pay to achieve it. They are the liberals/leftists. Oh, and because they have perceived this, they as individuals are morally superior to everybody else and have the right to impose it.
Funnily enough, I don’t recall ever seeing Sowell on the BBC or even referenced. Wrong narrative, you see.

Also since disabled people qualify or don’t qualify for benefits on their own terms already is this not a way to increase the benefits bill without anyone noticing? Just transfer the bill onto another department. Free bus passes. Fewer potholes filled in.
Our local station was upgraded due to the Elizabeth Line. They put in three new lifts for disability access. I’ve never seen any disabled person use them. One is for a platform where no trains ever stop. A.local school spent £60 k on a new lift to get disabled parents up to the first floor hall. There weren’t any. It was demolished about five years later when the whole school was rebuilt.
At one time every Chemistry department in every University had to be altered on the off chance of wheelchair using students.
The cost of retro-fitting for disability -equality purposes is absolutely ridiculous compared to their subsequent use. What a waste of money. There has to be a better and fairer way. For all of us.

War between Russia and Ukraine (pre-Trump). Remember Biden saying on International news that a small incursion would be ‘okayish’ but not an invasion of scale or words to that effect. Almost immediately followed by a Russian invasion.
Growing threat of China in Taiwan and many other strategic places, not dealt with by Biden, Obama and others (pre-Trump). The US know the importance of Greenland and Taiwan in terms of the technical war that is on-going.
The likely proliferation of nuclear devices by Iran, not dealt adequately with by Biden, Obama and others (pre-Trump). Should the west let them have nuclear devices?
North Korea, not dealt with by all US administrations, including Trump.
By the way the Obama administration supported the overthrow of Gaddafi resulting in the sub-Saharan African invasion of Europe. It is likely that Trump would not of let this happen by not supplying military (air cover) to the Libyan rebels.
It’s easy to leave all of this at the door of Trump and ignore how we ended up like this. Would have been better if previous administrations had grasped the nettles before the nettles grew too big. Would have been easier for Trump and his voters to have done very little.
