4. Guilt by Association
Near the bottom, the BBC randomly tacks on a mention of Germany’s AfD party winning a local poll. Why? To create a narrative of a scary “far-right” wave sweeping Europe, grouping completely different political movements across different countries together to trigger anxiety in their socially liberal readership.
This piece is classic BBC: it keeps a calm, professional tone on the surface, but underneath, it uses selective framing and loaded adjectives to make sure you know exactly who the “bad guys” are.’

I don’t know whether anybody here looks through the BBC’s Have Your Say when they add that to an article on their website. Reading the BBC HYS provides additional proof to the BBC bias as it incites very clear hate / support in the BBC website viewership.

Labour and the Conservatives have occupied the commanding heights of British politics for a combined total of more than 300 years. Reform UK has been around for less than eight.
One of the reasons why the old parties have lasted so long is that they have made it very expensive to challenge them.
Both of them have annual budgets that run into the tens of millions. Last year, when there was no general election, Labour spent some £3.9m per month and the Tories about £2.3m per month. Reform only managed around £1.8m per month.
Unlike the people who express mock concern for the health of “our democracy” while doing everything they can to keep it as a cartel, I want a fair fight and a level playing field. My conclusion from Reform’s recent troubles is that the party should spend less time trying to raise funds to compete on equal terms and more time preparing for government.
That’s why today I’m announcing that I’m giving £1m per month to Reform UK until the expected 2029 general election, to help them get ready for government. What’s more, to remove the temptation from Labour to use control of Parliament to try to cut that financial lifeline to a competitor, I have front-loaded these donations into a single payment of £36m.
Restricting opposition party funding is literally as anti-democratic as you can get, but that’s the aim of the Government’s Representation of the People Bill.
Unless Labour decides to use the bill to restrict the millions it receives each year in union funding, then functionally it is an attempt at election-rigging. It is so appalling that even the Conservatives, who might benefit if Reform is starved of funds, have called it out. For that, I give Kemi Badenoch great credit.
As a Tory frontbencher recently said: “A government should not direct the power of the state to undercut the lawful flow of funds to their political opponents. Party finance law is not ordinary lawmaking; it is the law by which the competitors in our democracy agree on the rules of the contest. The Government of the day are the trustee of those rules, not the proprietor.”
When I wrote in The Telegraph in April to announce my first gift to the party (made in January), I made the point that “even Reform’s strongest supporters would concede that they are not yet the finished article”.
This remains true. Indeed, Reform will probably come into office not being polished – but unpolished is not the same as unready.
Reform is making serious plans for government, which is more than Labour did before it won in 2024. It takes time to develop thought-through policies and draft legislation, and it takes real money.
Reform is a startup, founded in 2018 (and I know about startups). Outfits such as Ocado or Octopus Energy suffered teething pains and public blunders on their way to becoming British success stories.
As a challenger brand that threatens the status quo and established interests, Reform must expect to be subjected to more scrutiny than the 120-year-old Labour Party, or the 192-year-old Tory Party, will ever receive. So be it.
Being a retired veteran of the FinTech industry, I’m accustomed to intense scrutiny and hard knocks. During a period when crypto was in its infancy, I co-founded a trading platform.
Despite the fact that we ran an honest shop and never lost a penny of customer funds to a hack or a misallocation (a claim few crypto exchanges can make), a US prosecutor went after us for not keeping sufficient records on our customers. We got through it, and I kept calm and carried on with my philanthropy.
If I had confined myself to supporting autistic schoolchildren and supporting maths education and research, where I spend most of my money, I doubt Labour would have bothered with me, when frankly it’s not hard for any normal, patriotic person to understand what animates me – love of country.
It takes a thick skin to back Reform financially
Nevertheless, Labour can’t seem to make up its mind about my motives for funding the party it fears most. Sometimes, Labour claims it’s a plot to advance my own commercial interests, other times it’s an extreme ideological crusade. It’s neither. Could it be that the party of Lord Mandelson can’t help judging everybody else by its own standards?
Labour seems to think that the only reason to support a political party is if you can get it to do your bidding. This says more about them than it does about me. Regardless, at the same time I’ve moved home, I’ve also exited the crypto industry; future changes to UK laws regarding crypto really can’t help or hurt me. So you’ll either believe me or you won’t when I say I’m not supporting Reform for personal gain.
Right now it takes a thick skin to back Reform financially. Look at the way Christopher Harborne has been treated, as compared to, say, Lord Sainsbury, who has given well over £16m to Labour over the years, and millions more to the Liberal Democrats and the Remain campaign, or Lord Alli, brought back by Andy Burnham this month to raise money for Labour having paid for the last prime minister’s suits.
Is it any wonder successful business people with a stake in mainstream society and a care for their own reputation are shy about writing cheques to Reform?
I believe it is the duty of people with broad shoulders and deep pockets to step up and help Reform to win and govern, rather than allow the British people to be trapped in the political monoculture that is driving this country off a cliff.
Labour and the Conservatives have built vast infrastructures using hundreds of millions of pounds. They have entrenched advantages that Reform cannot hope to match. If a few people like me are willing to contribute to creating a more level playing field, that is not undermining democracy – it is supporting it, on behalf of millions of Britons that the establishment has let down.
And if somebody fancies making a record-breaking donation to the Green Party, you’ll get no objection from me.ENDS

A big difference is that the Labour Party does not require donations directly. The NGO and Charity (sic) proxies which promote its policies (and vice versa) have access to untold millions via State grants and foreign billionaires like Soros and Gates.
Same as ‘The Guardian’ : It relies on a huge investment trust fund it’s rich founder left years ago to provide it with enough income to survive.
It’s ironic that the far-Left Guardian has to rely on stock market returns to stay afloat because it is unsustainable otherwise.

The Patriot Platform protested outside the Mail’s building…the BBC reported it purely as an aggressive act without mentioning why they were there….which shows the dishonesty and intent to spread disinformation and smear the Patriot Platform.

‘Exposed: The Cambridge University PR attacking Jason Arday’s black critics’
‘A man called Lester Holloway has written a savage attack on black reporters who covered the Jason Arday scandal, saying they “have blood on [their] hands” and suggesting that they should put their supposed loyalty to their race above their duty as journalists.
In a piece for the Voice newspaper, Holloway says: “Jason told me and others that articles written by black people had hurt him most…. We as a community need serious introspection, because our people – his people – wounded Jason most deeply…. Some of our community have blood on our hands.” He also claimed there was “emerging evidence that Jason’s amazing achievements could actually be true” (we have previously dealt with some of this evidence.)
What you wouldn’t know from the article, because his interest is nowhere declared, is that Lester Holloway is the official spokesman for Simon Woolley, Lord Woolley, the race activist inexplicably elevated to principal of Homerton College, Cambridge and one of the key people who helped create Jason Arday. Holloway, a fellow race crusader who has a long relationship with Woolley, has under his leadership been made head of communications at Homerton, a staff position with a cam.ac.uk email address. Perhaps unusually for a PR, Holloway has also been made a fellow of the college.
We have previously covered Woolley’s unsuitability for his post, including his false and inflammatory claim that Arday was murdered – in his words, the victim of a “lynching” and “public assassination” by people who had decided that “Jason doesn’t deserve to be alive.” Woolley has since doubled down on these comments, saying he was “speak[ing] truth to power,” an interesting conceit for a Cambridge college head and peer of the realm defending obvious falsehoods.
Holloway goes even further than Woolley, however, in arguing that the black reporters on the Arday story were not just killers but, it would appear, traitors to their race – and that they should somehow not be proper journalists but “our people,” owned by the black community, or “his [Arday’s] people,” prepared to promote lies if someone has the right skin colour. This strikes me as itself racist, casting wholly unwarranted aspersions on the professionalism of black colleagues.
Holloway claims that the “250 national legacy media articles” published about Arday “contrast” with the fact that “the UK media mentioned Peter Mandelson just 119 times after the Epstein files were released.” The 119 figure comes from an activist group called NewsCord, which purports to enforce truth and “accountability” on the press. NewsCord’s version of truth and accountability is sadly not the same as the actual truth, or as actually being able to count. In just the first month after the release of the files, the Factiva press database shows almost 3,000 mentions of Mandelson in UK national papers alone.
Holloway singles out “one particularly damaging article [about Arday] in a so-called progressive newspaper” which Arday told him “was worse than ‘100 articles from the Telegraph.’” This is presumably the piece by Lanre Bakare of the Guardian, to whom Arday claimed that he had been twice confronted at work by a masked man who threatened him, the second time with a knife, and that a severed pig’s head had been sent to his parents’ home in a further act of hate.
Alas, Bakare made the mistake, common to professional journalists of all races, of checking these picaresque allegations. Finding no evidence for them, finding that Arday couldn’t produce any evidence either, and learning that they had not been reported to anyone at the time, he wrote that – instead of the stenographic endorsement of the fantasy that was clearly wanted. His reward was an attack from the reliably awful Jolyon Maugham and a social media pile-on. But even Maugham didn’t accuse him of having Arday’s blood on his hands. Bakare has now made his social media private and hasn’t written for the Guardian for more than a month. So much for protecting people from harassment.
Alongside Woolley, the lead signatory, Holloway also signed Maugham’s notorious letter claiming the accusations against Arday were “baseless” and racist and praising his “remarkable scholarship.” Again, he didn’t mention his connection with Woolley or Homerton. His Voice piece was written in a “personal capacity” and his Maugham signature was given in his capacity as a “columnist for the Voice.”
No doubt because he has been so busy with all this, Holloway has for more than a fortnight been unable to respond to The Spectator’s questions about a false statement made by Homerton to justify Woolley’s appointment. Homerton’s official announcement of the job said that “in 2018 Lord Woolley was appointed by prime minister Theresa May to create and lead the UK government’s pioneering Race Disparity Unit.”
This is not true. The unit was actually created in 2016 and led throughout by a career civil servant, Marcus Bell. Woolley’s role, starting two years later, was as the chair of its advisory group. The falsehood about Woolley’s CV has not been corrected and remains live on Homerton’s website. The college continues to refuse to say whether it was an Arday-style embellishment by Woolley or whether it was made up by Homerton.
Lester Holloway’s other scholarship in the field of media studies, by the way, includes attacking the press for “demonising Robert Mugabe.”
Perhaps all this low-gradery is just what you get when you replace academics with activists. But what on earth is going on at Homerton? What on earth is going on at Cambridge? What on earth is going on in Britain?’

It’s very unusual for a Home Secretary to ‘get on down with the Plod’ directly, when any issues on ‘National Security’ are involved. This year for my prom visit, I was in the Rausing circle at the Albert Hall. I had no idea why it was called that, so I googled. Apparently Ms Rausing had given a major donation for that area to be refurbished. Apart from the fact there were not enough ladies loos on that floor meaning long queues (at least they weren’t gender neutral), I couldn’t see where the money had gone. I think there ought to be a detailed investigation, line by line, to see how the money was spent.
I think the rausing gang have been throwing money at the uniparty for years – similarly to soros – either directly or indirectly funding the enemy – not ‘asking ‘ for anything of course ….
On Monday there will be one of those ‘urgent ‘ questions in their parliament ( not mine ) about funding of political parties and changing the rules so that non approved parties can’t have money –

STARTS Britain needs to regenerate after more than a decade of decline.
I want us to be able to afford to fund healthcare, education and other public services such as social care, which are incredibly important to me and the whole of our country.
But these vital services can only be delivered if our country is strong. And a strong country is one that is funded by a vigorous economy which is creating jobs.

We must recreate a stable geopolitical framework
So what do I expect in return for my donations? Nothing, personally. No peerage, no policy change, just a party that is ready for government. I have already accumulated enough wealth for the rest of my life. I am now committed to putting that to work for Britain and humanity as a whole.
The Britain I grew up in is the Britain that gave me a world-beating education and the opportunity to succeed. Britain has world-class scientists and researchers in biotech, artificial intelligence (AI), nuclear fusion and many other fields.
Britain today desperately needs investment in these and so many other important fields, but every time I look at it, as someone successful in business, I’m horrified by the barriers and disincentives to investing money in Britain. Successive governments have persistently manipulated tax and regulation to make it unattractive to invest here.
I want the same as everyone else in Britain: for my children and grandchildren to have the chance to live happy and productive lives here and be rewarded for their hard work.
At the next general election, people will have to vote for the party that they think will best get that done, and I’m making a donation very clearly to the party that I believe will do so.
Humanity faces three existential threats. They are nuclear war, AI and climate change.
Avoiding nuclear war is the most urgent. We must build deterrents and recreate a stable geopolitical framework.
Soft power needs hard power
AI is coming at us very, very fast. We need to understand how to use AI well for the benefit of humanity and not become mere servants of AI.
And then there is climate change. We need to mitigate the effects of carbon emissions on our climate and we can do this with the right investments in key technologies.
But all of the above are expensive and we can only deal with them if we have a profitable economy and dynamic companies who are capable of investing in new technologies in areas such as defence, nuclear fusion and AI.
Britain has an enormously important role to play in dealing with each of these existential threats. For this, it needs soft power, and soft power needs hard power, which in turn needs a profitable and dynamic economy.
If Britain can find its way to economic prosperity, which could better fund healthcare, education, and social care, our country can find its footing again. My donation to Reform is a philanthropic gift to our country.
